I would like to sell my In-house restaurant Software, any suggestions on how to approach local restaurants and other restaurant owners?

    Posted: 05 Sep 2021 07:30 PM PDT

    Hello everyone,

I have previously posted about my restaurant using a custom built software solution. We are revamping our Drive Thru though and getting Custom-made Horizontal Kiosk and a Drive Thru Cover.

I own a restaurant but would now like to sell my restaurant in-house software. You can learn about my software here. We are now starting to offer our E-commerce software for restaurant owners and soon we will be offering the rest of our software. I just started to sell my software and so far I have acquired 2 restaurants and both transitioned from Chownow to my software. Right now the app only works with Stripe or Square account to charge customers. I want to be able to provide cheap and low custom processing rate but I'm currently trying to learn who to contact.

Here are some aspects that different Tastio e-commerce from major corporations.

    1. I need my software to succeed in order to be able to create a successful restaurant. My software was made for the sole purpose to make my restaurant succeed.
    2. Create a database for your restaurant.
      1. My restaurant has over 4000 Users with Name, Gender, DOB, and Address.
        1. I will be creating a Loyalty/Reward System hopefully by the end of the year to take advantage of this data.
    3. Have an elegant, simple to use restaurant website that was made based on User Feedback, and gets updates every 2 weeks.
      1. My E-Commerce even in a slow day sells more than 700+ for my restaurant. Once you create a large database even <1% is a lot of orders.
    4. Setup your store quickly by entering your email on our website and follow the steps.
      1. If you have any questions on how to get your store up and running feel free to send me a message.
    5. SMS and MMS Marketing.
      1. After having used my app for more than a year, I have found MMS Marketing to be more effective. Here's an example of one i sent. I have found meme marketing to be extremely effective.
    6. Kitchen Display Expo
      1. Give your chefs a simplified way of knowing how many items are on the Screen.
        1. This is an example.
    7. Create Coupon Codes and know who used them.
      1. I use coupon codes to provide discounts for my customers and share on Social media or SMS/MMS Marketing. The Administrator Panel also shows you who has used the coupon code as well.
    8. Turn off Product, Categories, toppings quickly from the Administrator Panel.
      1. Sometimes you run out of something and need to quickly turn it off. If you were to own all our products it would impact all your software so no one can order the product.
    9. Provide your own in-house Delivery.
      1. Switch from Third Party Services and hire your own Delivery Team. This is the future!
        1. I will also be working on adding ordernerd functionality into my KDS. It makes sense!
    10. Machine Learning, Indoor and Outdoor Self Checkout Kiosk, Point of Sale, Low Custom Processing Rate and many cool features coming soon!

I was wondering if anyone had suggestions on how to approach selling a SAAS.

I'm looking for software to schedule employees as well as clients.

    Posted: 05 Sep 2021 10:59 PM PDT

As the title says. I am after some software similar to When I Work. I would also like it to allow me to schedule clients into the sessions as well as I run a service-based business.
I work in groups so I would need to be able to tie multiple clients and possibly workers to each shift.

    Thank you

When to say no to investors?

    Posted: 05 Sep 2021 04:33 AM PDT

Would it be crazy to turn down investors (and much-needed money) if you thought having them involved in your business may not be wise? Has anyone ever done this?

What do I need to have in place in order to open a business checking account?

    Posted: 06 Sep 2021 03:47 AM PDT

I have been running printing production for a company and want to be an independent contractor as apposed to an employee. Currently have been paid only personal checks less than $2k. The guy I'm doing production work for only wants to pay to a business moving forward. I received an EIN number from the IRS and a business certificate from the state of OHIO where I am located. Bank says they can't open me a checking account without being c corp, s corp, LLC, etc. Is this true for all banks??

I also would like to use this business/sole proprietorship/ llc/etc. to potentially cash checks for other income from potential property management projects.

What do I need to do moving forward spending as little money as possible, so I can cash the checks I receive?

What is/was your experience working with a digital marketing freelancer and/or external bureau?

    Posted: 06 Sep 2021 03:26 AM PDT

I am currently doing some research on how I can scale my business up most effectively. Therefore, I'm curious about how any of you went about utilizing marketing in your business. Did you hire someone into the business or did you decide to go the external digital marketing bureau route? Any insight is very helpful!

10 Types of Emails your Small Business should send

    Posted: 06 Sep 2021 03:24 AM PDT

    1. Welcome Email

Once you gain that valuable email address from a subscriber, you need to send them out a welcome email within the first 24-48 hours. This is the best way to introduce yourself and make a good first impression. Show this potential customer the benefits of using your products or service, what they can expect from you, and start to gain their trust.

    1. Tips & Tricks

Showing your subscribers how to do certain things that will make their life easier is a great way to become an authority in your industry. Always make an effort to educate your customers. It's a great way to ensure your customers remain engaged and interested in what you have to say. When they run into a problem in the future, they will think of you when looking for a solution.

    1. Freebies, Giveaways & Competitions

We just finished running a Website Giveaway, and it was a huge success. We gained many valuable emails from potential clients and gave one lucky winner the website of their dreams. Now that they are on our email list, we will be sure to let them know when we are next running a competition. If you're looking for high engagement on your email, then make sure to send these!

    1. Product/Service information

If someone signed up to your mailing list, it means they are interested in what you're offering. A lot of times people need just a little bit more convincing before committing to a purchase. Therefore it is important that you keep this audience interested in your products or services. Ensure you keep them updated on your new launches, restocked products, and best sellers. A brand that does this really well is "Cult Beauty".

    1. Case Studies/ Testimonials

Showing results of previous clients/customers is a great way to build brand trust. Showcase where your client was when they came to you Vs where are they now? How did you help? How did you do it? etc. Let your email subscribers know this could be them too if they use your products/services. Potential customers want to see results from people they relate to, so make sure you share this in your next email.

    1. Your Story

Get a little personal in your emails by sharing your story. What was the purpose for starting your business and who did you plan to help? People love supporting small businesses because of the personable and approachable elements of them so make sure you put yourself out there to your audience.

    1. Promotional

Do you have a sale or special offer coming up? Tell your audience about it! Send an email a week before the sale to inform the customer. Then, send another email the day before your sale begins, telling them the count-down is on. You can then email them the day of the sale to once again push the message across. People need to be told more than once to purchase something, so this is a great way to approach promotions through email marketing.

    1. Latest News

Have there been any changes within your business that would benefit or impress your customers? Do you have new packaging, an upcoming event, or a new sustainable option? Whatever it is, inform your audience about it with an email.

    1. Benefits

All consumers care about is, "how is this product/service going to improve my life". Therefore it is important that you continuously update & inform your customers about the benefits of your products/services. First, address your audience's "pain points", this is what they are currently struggling with. Then, state the benefits of your product and how it will guide them to a solution to their problems. Finish your email with a "Call to Action", telling your customer the exact step you want them to take next, such as "Shop Now".

    1. Abandoned Cart

Sometimes customers fill up their cart in your store but never actually checkout. Cookies will track this, and you can automate an email to remind the customer that they have not completed their purchase. You can even add a discount code here to nudge them in the right direction. This is a really great way to increase sales and keep your business in your customers' minds.

Email marketing is something that gets neglected often by small business owners. You need to put as much effort into building an email list as you do your other Social Media platforms. Stay tuned for our next blog post where we will discuss everything you need to know about building an email list for your small business.

    Correct Licence(s)

    Posted: 06 Sep 2021 03:00 AM PDT

    Hello all,

What licence(s) would be needed for a small business that provides home delivery. This would be going to any supermarket/corner shop and picking the order. Then it would be delivering it to said person's home. The orders would range from food, alcohol, and tobacco.

    Open times 12pm - 11pm Monday to Thursday, 3pm - 3am Friday - Saturday.

Cash & Card payments via website/app

I've tried looking on the UK government website but it's all so vague. I'm hoping to find someone who can tell me exactly what I need and how to get it. Thank you.

Toxic relatives and a family business; Time to cash in despite booming sales?

    Posted: 05 Sep 2021 05:44 PM PDT

I left my upper middle class family in Latin America in 2000, and moved to the US on my own. 17 years later, after strong insistence from my father after he was diagnosed with leukemia, I came back to help with the "family business". My father was a lawyer, and he used his money to start several side ventures, with a mixed success record, but he always had the lawyer business to fall back on, and at that he was good.

After I left my country against family wishes, I didn't really realize that my brother stayed and dove right into the "family business", the problem was he didn't want to be a lawyer, so that's where the side ventures begun. "Family business" turned out to be any of my brother's business my dad was investing at the time.

After several failed businesses (4) he finally hit it after my father invested into an old CATV system in some remote jungle town that my brother ran remotely (1-2 monthly visits). From that business, my brother and my dad found a government project to provide internet to rural areas, and thus after heavy investment from my dad and a big bank loan, they added a WISP (wireless internet service provider) to the old-school 90's tech CATV system they bought to fulfill the government bid. After many setbacks, eventually government money started coming in and that's where my dad's insistence came in. He said he needed someone "technical" to start a new WISP in another part of the country. I do have a three graduate degrees, but in the social sciences! (Anthropology and Archaeology), so I had no idea what he was talking about, but anyway after feeling flattered in his insistence, I agreed, and I dove right in. I moved the wife and 2 kids internationally to start a new internet business project/career without ever taking a single networking class even.

3 years and10 months later I turned a single tower, with 1 employee who was renting me his truck, and one receptionist in a storefront the size of a broom closet, and me, into a 50 employee, 10,000 subscriber ISP with 1500 CATV subscribers, and over 2000km of optic fiber, our own ASN, assigned public IP's, several DNS servers, and a backbone that is second to none in a major economic region. This was not done by luck, I got certified and studied every night while working 60-80 hour weeks. Got 7 major certifications in everything from networking to FTTH design, electric grounding to building a wired tower, and so on. I did everything from climbing the towers everyday for years, while working holidays, not taking a single vacation, digging holes, installing new services, and doing Sunday maintenance calls. All things my brother had always hired someone else to do. He was an "office AC guy" he used to say.

The problems started when following his lead to running the family business I begun to see that the "office style" of running, also included cutting corners, not finishing projects, having minimal to complete lack of knowledge about the business, and being constantly in trouble with tax authorities, and to top it off, it included paying him self the highest possible salaries. "What's my business for, if not making me money" he would say as justification for his constant raises, at the expense of giving his staff a raise.

Eventually, after one too many bad decisions, e.g. giving a solar panel project for my company to his friends with out even a bid or quote, on a bank loan I would pay, for 3 times the competitors price. I started saying NO to his plans that had no financial justification, which was most of them. Then, calamity struck, after another series of his bad decisions, first he lost the government contract, then he had to sell his CATV business in the jungle for scraps, not close to recovering the investment, just to pay back taxes or risk something more serious.

After he was out of a job he turned his eyes to the company I started, with the funds my father got from the government bid payout, to be fair that was part of my brother's and fathers business. Problem was my dad had now passed away and my brother took control of my mom's finances, who inherited from my dad, but is staying out of everything, "trying to be neutral".

Now my brother is pushing me out of the company I built. A company based on strong financial decisions and fiscal responsibility unless I "pay him" the money my father invested, and every other dime he could gather going back 2 years before I even started the business (know-how tax he calls it).

Also, things like me working 1 full year with no salary, "are not his fault" so I wasn't even to claim that, at least where we are in arbitration. Despite the company having constant growth and making more money every month than the last for the past 20 months, having a current boom in sales, and seeing our customer base grow exponentially this year. After signing peering agreements with Netflix and Facebook to improve our service, and signing contracts to expand into a neighboring state, my options are:

    a) Pay my brother off in his terms which would requiere 48 months of giving him nearly 40% of my monthly sales as of last month, with very little room for any unplanned incident, and staff raises.

    b) Sell, cash in, not crazy money, but pretty-pretty good. More than enough for a house, extra for a new secondary source of income, and then go back to teaching and social sciences in the US.

Any suggestions? Should I fight for the business and try to see it through? If we keep our constant growth rates I could have been seeing some really major sale numbers in 12-18 months. And I have built a great team with dedicated individuals that have given more to this project than they were paid for.

Financing is out of the questions since my brother has already suggested that he would block any investors from buying out the family's share of my business. Only option is sell/cash in, or buy him out. Ugh!!! How do you decide how much is your business worth fighting for?

Google My Business Suspension Reasons & Solutions for Small/Local Businesses:

    Posted: 06 Sep 2021 02:25 AM PDT

Business owners often complain about why their google my business account got suspended. Because when Google sends you suspension mail they usually don't mention reasons, hence they get confused about where they were wrong with google my business.

So today we are discussing what are the possible reasons and how we can avoid them.

Google never mentioned exact reasons or parameters anywhere in any article. But I am listing few reasons which I experienced while working with different clients as a digital marketing strategist.

Reasons for Google My Business Suspension:

    1. Security Concerns: If somebody trying to hack your listing then Google will suspend your google my business for security purposes.

    2. Spammy Techniques: Google my business has its own guidelines. If you are violating their guidelines or adding any spammy content, then they will suspend you.

    3. If you are doing multiple listings for the same business location.

    4. Frequently changes in info within your listing.

    5. If you are replying in a negative way to negative reviews, then also there are chances of suspension of Google My Business.

    6. Sometimes user also reports a listing.

These are few possible reasons we need to work on to avoid suspension.

So, those who are already using google my business for their biz make sure you are considering the above points.

But if there any local businesses are not using google my business then you are missing the most valuable leads.

    Hope it helps!

Anyone come across local businesses doing winter patio furniture storage?

I live in Canada. Winters are harsh.

I usually put away our outdoor / patio furniture in our garage in the fall but we could use the space. Spoke to a friend and he had the same need. Local google searches don't come up with anything.

Anyone seen any local businesses doing this?

Starting a side business repairing phones

    Posted: 05 Sep 2021 02:45 PM PDT

I've done my research on the rates for basic phone repairs, from cracked screens to battery replacements, by calling local repair shops in my city and I'm sure I can beat them. I've been in contact with providers for phone parts, so I can calculate an exact cost and pricing for my services. My plan is to start small for now by offering mobile repair services until I make enough revenue to afford an office. I'll be working alone and doing all the repairs myself. Do I have to create an LLC to get started advertising online through Google and other ad services. Any advice or help would be appreciated.

California Sales & Use District Taxes

    Posted: 05 Sep 2021 03:34 PM PDT

Thanks so much in advance for the help! I made approximately $1,500 across 75 sales in California.

I'm based in Santa Ana, Orange County but made sales in tons of different districts.

When filing my Sales & Use tax return, do I need to specify each and every one of the districts that I made a sale in (and the monetary value of the product I sold) e.g. - $350 in LA County, $200 in Ventura County, etc. etc. until all $1,500 is accounted for?

Or could I just list all $1,500 of the sales as being under the normal California 7.25% sales tax?

    Thanks again!

Starting a website small business for small businesses

    Posted: 05 Sep 2021 04:07 PM PDT

I'm starting a small business to provide website services for small businesses, but I want to get feedback on my business model and price point to see if small business people will see this as a good value or if I need to adjust my business model.

My service will provide static websites for a flat rate of $150 per month with no upselling of any kind. I buy the web address, I rent the server, I build a clean, modern website, I provide tech support, I maintain the website, I do the search engine optimization, and I perform updates to the site.

    Does this sound worthwhile?

    Employee Evaluations

    Posted: 05 Sep 2021 06:11 PM PDT

How many of you are doing employee evaluations? What frequency? What has worked for you and what hasn't? If you aren't doing them why not?

We have a formal system, but it isn't tied to anything. I'm thinking about tying it to end of year bonuses, but to do this would mean doing quarterly evaluations and I just feel like that is too much work.

    Thanks,

How do small Tshirt companies sell product with Team Logos?

I'm curious how I'd go about printing logos on shirts without getting sued. I've seen it done before, but everything I've read says I need to show significant proof of business before being able to license.

How to take advantage of crazy int'l shipping rates - furniture.

    Posted: 05 Sep 2021 01:24 PM PDT

As a lot of us know, shipping rates in general as well as cargo containers is at an all time high and rates are not expected to decrease anytime soon.

I have been selling furniture we get from a local auction house and the main reason people say they are buying from us is because of how far out shipping times are from the big guys. This is because this furniture is made overseas for pennies.

Now, obviously, making this cheap in the states won't happen. No problem. My online businesses (eBay and Amazon) were successful for me during these past couple years and I have a decent amount of liquid cash and I want to bring this thing to the next level.

So how would I go about getting these furniture pieces manufactured here? Would it at all be feasible for me to buy some kind of warehouse and construct it myself? The pieces selling are relatively simple and not too crazy hard to make (in my opinion).

Edit: Forgot to mention that due to long wait times, the auction houses barely have anything I am looking for.

I'm wondering if I could take what I have in liquid money and throw it to get a larger SBA loan. I just don't really know the proper steps to go about this. I am looking at it from the bigger picture and it is overwhelming.

Any help or assistance would be so great. Thanks for reading!
