    Legal Advice Husband stole RX

    Husband stole RX

    Posted: 06 Jun 2021 02:38 AM PDT

My husband doesn't like the idea of me taking prescription medication. He thinks I can "tough it out", however I have severe panic attacks and don't even drive due to anxiety. He loves the idea of control. Friday, after picking up a prescription, one I've been on 10 plus years, my husband went into my purse and stole them. He said I'd be fine, I explained that I could have a seizure without this medication. What he did is theft, and could cause me serious harm. I don't know what to do. Go to the police? His control and somewhat abusive behavior has made it so I don't want to be around him anymore. I don't know what to do. I'm at my parents house, as his erratic behavior scares me. I live in New Hampshire, USA.

They almost overdosed me in hospital and are trying to keep me quiet. (17F)

    Posted: 06 Jun 2021 02:41 AM PDT

Hi all, I'm a 17 year old female in hospital right now, being treated for potential Crohn's disease in Northern Ireland, UK.

I'm on 40mg of prednisolone (steroids) per day, and I take them in the morning. Last night, a nurse came in in the middle of the night and said she was going to give me my steroids.

I was half asleep and confused, and managed to say that this can't be right, I take them in the morning. Not to mention, I take them orally, and she wanted to give me two large vials of intravenous solution.

She persisted that it was mine, but I refused to take it, saying I hadn't been prescribed anything like this.

She finally relented and checked the back of the book- This medication belonged to a man called Finneas. I am a 17 year old female... I am not this man.

She had the audacity to not even apologise, she just said "oh, well it's good that you are curious." Excuse me? Had you given this to me (without checking my name, ID or D.O.B), I would have overdosed and had a seizure. I'm a child?! I shouldn't have to be "curious", you should be responsible.

I told the doctors about this and they are trying to disprove me and keep me quiet. They told me things like "How do you even know the name of the person who was meant to receive this?" And "if this really happened, she would have had to make a note of it." "You didn't receive it, so you're okay."

Really? I'm okay because I refused it. This situation is not okay. You could have seriously harmed me.

What do I do? They don't believe me at all. I have no reason to lie about this, and I hate that I'm being treated this way. I want this to be investigated and taken seriously because this is unacceptable.

    Any advice?

    Thank you.

Valet switched keys with duplicated key

    Posted: 06 Jun 2021 11:51 AM PDT

Yesterday I went to go eat at a Korean BBQ restaurant, and got valet bc there was no parking. I dropped off my car to them at 6:45, and did not get my keys back until around 10:00pm when their shift ended. Once they handed me my keys back, I noticed it was not my stock Hyundai keys. This new key is an aftermarket with no logos on it. I'm not sure what to do, bc now they have my car keys and possibly a duplicate of my house key. I have my registration (has my address) in my glovebox, and military gear in my car. I'm fortunate that they didn't steal anything, but I'm worried that they might come after me in the future. I confronted them about it and they denied it. Also, I talked to the restaurant and they just hired these guys the day prior. What should I do?

Can My Employer Require Me to Have a Bank Account With Them? (Georgia)

    Posted: 06 Jun 2021 09:46 AM PDT

My fiancee was hired at a local credit union, and they have said that they will only direct deposit her pay to an account with them.

They also told her she will be written up if her account with them goes negative.

Is that legal? Those seem like unreasonable stipulations

What's the correct way to go about disassociating my email address with the accounts random people create with it? (NY)

    Posted: 06 Jun 2021 12:54 PM PDT

My Gmail account was created during beta back in the day so it's one word that seems to be extremely popular for random people to use as their own email address. I get so many random orders, personal information, account creations, etc... It's to the point where if I go & try to sign up for something my email is already taken. Is it against the law for me to log into these accounts associated with my email & change the information? If not, what is the best way to go about removing my email from being associated with these random accounts? I wouldn't be so concerned but a lot of the stuff I'm getting is extremely personal - legal documents, credit reports, taxes, etc... I tried to inform one particular lady that her medical information was going to my email and she threatened me with a law suit for invading her privacy & stealing her information. It's becoming ridiculous and feels like a liability to have access to all of this highly personal information.

    Unmarried and separating with assets

    Posted: 06 Jun 2021 08:56 AM PDT

My boyfriend and I are ending our relationship. We own a house together and he wants to stay and pay the mortgage and I leave and live with my parents. I want to sell but he's refusing. Can I make him sell? And if not is it stupid to let him stay and pay the mortgage if we come up with some written agreement?

    Grandpa took all their money

    Posted: 06 Jun 2021 10:00 AM PDT

Long story short my grandma has early stage dementia and he didn't want to be with her anymore.

My grandpa took all the money and transferred it all to his daughters bank account. They won't send any of the money to her. Can we take any action in this? The money was from when my grandmas mom passed away a couple few years ago if that even makes a difference. Ive tried reason with him that grandma is entitle to half of it but it's not getting anywhere.

Also grandpa is 81 and grandma is 71 and they both are married and have been for 50 years.

    Movers never showed up!

    Posted: 06 Jun 2021 05:31 AM PDT

I went through a reputable broker who subcontracted the actual trucking company, we moved from west coast to east coast and it's been 9 weeks and the movers never showed up and now aren't answering the phone. The brokers are sometimes answering the phone but they can't get in touch with the movers either and don't k is where our stuff is or seem to be willing to help or reimburse us. We've gotten the money we paid back through our credit card companies but we would really like our stuff, or at the very least to be compensated so we can replace our furniture and dishes. So far I've: filed a complaint with FMCSA, filed a complaint with the state attorney general in the state both companies are based, filed a claim with my homeowners policy (this is a long shot, I don't own the home anymore and I believe the policy ended coverage when we closed) written a damning Yelp review and had a free consultation with some business lawyer I found online who said we didn't have a case. What else can I do? Edit: I'm being asked to add location: we moved from California to Vermont and the companies are based in Florida.

[FL] My son lives with his father and paternal grandparents. We have a court-ordered visitation schedule in place which allows me to come see him at the house but every time I do, his dad starts drama and tries to fight with me.

    Posted: 06 Jun 2021 08:49 AM PDT

I still have 100% legal custody but he lives there until I can get on my feet. I am a survivor of domestic violence and I have a no violent contact restraining order against his father. We went to a visitation hearing and the judge said it would be okay for me to come to the house to see him whenever I want. My ex's mom has been pretty good about letting me see him whenever I want but the problem is that a lot of times his dad will try to start drama with me.

I have requested that the visits take place elsewhere but I don't know if I can do this. I'm just tired of the drama with his dad and I would like to avoid the house in the future to prevent this from happening. The only problem I have with my ex's mom and says that it takes her forever to answer my texts and she hardly ever answers her phone when I call. She is a full-time caregiver for his dad but at the same time I feel like she's not too busy to check her phone.

I can't tell if she is purposely doing this because she knows that he and I have been arguing or if she is really just busy. I feel like maybe I'm being paranoid but it seems to me like they are trying to phase me out of my son's life. I just feel like I should be able to see my son without all that drama. Would it be possible for me to request that his dad leave the house while I'm there?

How would I go about doing any of this? Would I need to contact the judge that handled our case? I do know her name and I have her contact information. Would I need to petition the courts to change the visitation schedule? I just feel like it would be more straightforward to contact the judge who handled our case but I'm not sure if I can do that.

My ex's mom says that there won't be any drama at the house but she's not always there and usually starts stuff when she's not there. I am 38 years old and I am tired of this drama and I feel like I should be able to see my son without having to come into a hostile environment. Please do not judge me on my age, I lost everything because of his father. I am working to get my life back together and I have been very involved in my son's life. How would I go about changing this so that I don't have to worry about arguments and possibly being hit?

Co worker confessed to stabbing her boyfriend in the parking lot of our work

    Posted: 06 Jun 2021 12:17 PM PDT

Hey basically I work for a company that has stores all around the world. Big blue building and yellow. Basically I was doing a pick walk when my co worker came up to me and asked if she could confess to me something and I was like sure and she started crying saying her boyfriend came to our work and had alll her stuff in the trunk and he tried breaking up with her. She ended it up stabbing him and now she's scared. I honestly didn't know what to say that's what I told her and I told her where she said arm. It was deep. There wasn't any blood and I said he needs to go to the hospital but he didn't want to in fear of getting her in trouble. I ended up giving her a hug because I didn't know what to do. And she's kept asking me if the managwr s were asking about her. She wipped away her tears like nothing happened and said please don't tell any one. The pick walks send us to certain locations and it sent me to candles right across from where the bandages where. There she was looking at gauzes and honestly I called my sister to ask her if I should just let it be or tell a manager and my sister said tell. I told my manager and she ended up trying g to find her. And couldn't. I had to leave Bc my shift is over. Today she's working but someone mention she is stressed about something. And I'm not sure if I did the right thing by telling the manager because she told me legally they cannot do anything because it wasn't a associate or a customer. Idk what to do. And nervous working with her. This is a recent new job. I started working in March

    Pharmacy Misconduct

    Posted: 06 Jun 2021 10:59 AM PDT

Does anyone know what can be done about this? I have been refilling a script at my local CVS for a maintenance medication for years. The past three months, they have been shorting me exactly 10 pills.

The first month, I didn't notice until the end of the script when I realized I didn't have enough for the last two days. I didn't say anything, but when I refilled the script, I immediately counted it and it was short 10 pills. I called them and they admitted the mistake and gave me the missing pills, but they did it AGAIN this month and they are saying that since a pharmacist counted it, they know it was correct. I had even asked to watch them count it but they told me since a pharmacist was counting it, I didn't need to. I took pictures of my count of the pills and offered to show them and bring back the script, but the said no, that I was wrong, and I had left with the correct amount.

This is ridiculous! I can't believe they don't have a system in place to at least check their pills on hand to see if they have an overage. This is just a maintenance medication, too, not a restricted drug or anything, but I need it daily and now I'm, in total, 20 pills short!

My neighbor told me the other day they gave her someone else's prescription and she had to return it. What is going on over there?!!?

Both my doctor and my health insurance agent even called them on my behalf and were told the same thing they told me.

Does anyone have any suggestions for me? I'm afraid this is going to happen to other people too and someone might end up getting seriously injured! Like, who can I call to have them investigated? Please, any suggestions would be appreciated!

    Location is Georgia.

My brother and his wife are abusing their kids but are really good at hiding it. My 16 year old nephew doesn’t feel safe at home anymore.

    Posted: 06 Jun 2021 07:21 AM PDT

Quick backstory: My brother and his wife are a part of an extreme religious cult in Minnesota. They have 6 biological and 6 adopted kids. EVERYTHING that happens is because of demonic possession. My nephew has extreme depression and anxiety and they refuse to get him help because medications and doctors are evil and only prayer and exorcism will help his condition. All of the kids are afraid to say anything out of fear of reprisal. My brother and his wife are VERY manipulative with their words and can turn around something they did wrong and make the other person question of it truly was their fault. The three oldest kids have left home because of verbal, emotional abuse, and sometimes physical abuse. The physical abuse was only select kids they didn't like and they never left any bruises. The nephew that came to me said he's afraid for anyone to call child protective services because his parents are so good at covering it up and he's afraid of what they will do to him after CPS leaves.

I'm at a loss as to how I can help him and his siblings. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Let me know what other details you need.

I think my two week old car is a lemon

    Posted: 06 Jun 2021 12:46 PM PDT

About 2 weeks ago I purchased a 2021 Land Rover Discovery with 11 miles on it in Washington. Immediately we were getting an error "ok to drive with caution. Two wheel drive only. Traction reduced." We took the car in 5 days later, it was in the shop for 2 days when they told us they didn't program the 4wd. (Our car included adaptive 4wd). After getting it back we immediately noticed a thud about 80% of the time when we stopped. The next week we took it in, 3 days later after the service center being evasive we filed a claim with Land Rover customer service and finally got an update that it's an issue with the drive train, but they haven't figured out what yet.

I don't know much about cars, but a problem that has taken 3+ days to diagnose doesn't seem good.

What are my rights? I've read a bit about the lemon laws, but they talk about issues over the course of a year, not weeks.

Please help! Mom took my GI Bill money, is there anything I can do about it?

    Posted: 05 Jun 2021 08:08 PM PDT

I'm currently 17 and just finished my first year of college. My dad assigned me 10 months of his Post 9/11 GI Bill benefits which helped me pay for my tuition at school.

While some of the GI Bill went to my school for tuition, I also received a monthly housing allowance and stipend for books each semester, which went straight into my bank account. I decided to save the money I didn't use, which summed up to a large amount at the end of the school year (>$10k).

I was planning on using the rest of this money for the future since I won't be receiving any more benefits. Because it is a large sum of money, I was relying heavily on it to cover my housing and education next semester.

However, my mom and I have a broken relationship. Recently she has decided to take it all from me. Since I'm a minor, she has access to my bank account and took all of the money to put into her own account. I respectfully asked for it back and even offered to wait until I turn 18 later this month, but she refused saying it's not truly my money since it was given to me by the VA under my dad's benefits.

Without that money, I don't have enough to pay for school or housing, and I'm going to be kicked out when I turn 18. Because I wasn't allowed to have a job in high school, I only have a couple thousand (<$4k) saved up from working during my year at college. Is there anything I can do about this or any way to make my money back? Is it even really my money?

Roommate Backed into Pole - Whose Auto Insurance?

    Posted: 06 Jun 2021 01:43 PM PDT

Hey everyone, I've got what I hope is a fairly simple question. I lent my roommate my car, and while he was out he backed into a pole and caused damage to the back hatch of my car. Thinking it's likely the hatch will need replaced.

We live in PA, he is not on my auto insurance policy and my insurance policy shows my home/permanent address, not the address we recently moved into together. He does not have auto insurance in his name but he is a listed driver on his parent's policy. I have full comp/collision coverage.

Is the only option to call Progressive (my insurance company) and explain to them what happened? This is all just bad timing in general because I just got my car out of the shop for my own recent at fault accident. Should I expect my rates to significantly increase after two accidents to the same vehicle within a few weeks? Am I even allowed to say I loaned my car out if my insurance does not yet reflect our new address?

Alternatively, is there any ability to work this situation through his parent's insurance company?

Just trying to proceed correctly with this situation in the way that creates the least long term impact on me and my policy if possible. Thank you in advance for your time and any recommendations or advice you may have.

    Neighbor harassment, property owners involvement

    Posted: 06 Jun 2021 10:50 AM PDT

Hi there, I'm currently being stalked and harassed by a neighbor who is monitoring me coming and going from my apartment, has charged at me in my car after trying to call him out for harassment, aggressively pounded on my door after I called the cops on him to keep me locked in my apartment, and screams profanities at me when I either come home, leave, or am sitting in my apartment. I've called the cops twice and I've notified my property owners that I'm being constantly harassed but they haven't done anything. I don't know what apartment management / property owners can do legally but it feels as though there must be something, anything that they can do to step in. I'm afraid for my safety.

I've filed a restraining order but I won't have an answer on the case till tomorrow but the cops said I will probably not be granted the injunction because he is doing all this harassment and stalking from the comfort of his own apartment (he leaves the front door open so he can watch me go up or down the stairs). I live in Florida and have never had to deal with one of my own neighbors trying to keep me locked in or too afraid to return to my own home. I don't know what do.

CPS says I [27/F] can't watch my nieces because I'm autistic [WA]

    Posted: 05 Jun 2021 11:25 PM PDT

I'm an autistic adult living in Washington state, snohomish county. I have been babysitting my three nieces, 5, 3, and 2, for 3 years. CPS has been involved with the parents for a while, and they know about my autism and didn't care about the fact I don't have a daycare license, because I live on the property, am family, and I only watch them for 2-4 hours a day Mon-Wed.

However, CPS was called again and this social worker doesn't want me to watch the kids at all. She said she wants someone who is licensed to watch them, I told her I will get mine, and she said she didn't want me watching them at all. My SIL told me that she wanted to kick the social worker off the property for being so disrespectful to us, especially me (her words, not mine) and wants to get a new social worker. My MIL contacted them and one of them said I can't watch the kids because of my autism. They told her I need to get a doctors note (or something) saying I can watch the kids.

A friend of mine said I should report the social worker for discrimination against disabled people, but someone else said I couldn't because she's only looking out for the kids.

What exactly are my options in this situation? What can I do?

    License confiscated by police

    Posted: 06 Jun 2021 02:02 PM PDT

Ok this starts all the way back last year to when i got a ticket for speeding, the court said i had to pass a driving class to clear things up, i took the class and passed it and sent the passing score to the court to be approved. Around a month goes by and i got no response until one day i checked the mail and they sent a letter saying they would be suspending my license for not completing the course they sent me to do. Of course i assumed it was a mistake so i sent a email back and got into contact with a hearing officer who said to re send it and wait for approval again. I resent the test scores and waited again. Another month goes by and i get another letter in the mail from the court saying they granted my request to accept my test scores. So i thought that was it and everything was cool ".nope around 3-4 months after that i got pulled over for my tints being too dark and the cop runs my license and comes back to say it's been suspended. I ask why and he says it's because i never completed a driving course. 🧐 he proceeds to let me know that he's going to take my ID which i try to explain and tell him the situation but he didn't really care for it at all. He let me drive home tho. So the next day i go to court to see what i can do and the lady at the courthouse said that the only way she can unsuspend my license is if i have the physical license with me. But i don't since the police officer took it. She said the only options i have were to either go to the dmv and get a new one or go to the sheriffs office and get my license back so she can re instate it, so i called the sheriffs office since the next open DMV appointment would be a month from today. The sheriffs office just said they don't give back the licenses they take so now I'm only left with the DMV option . But if the court did what they were supposed to do i wouldn't have gotten my license taken away in the first place.

    Restaurant is keeping cash tips

    Posted: 06 Jun 2021 11:12 AM PDT

Im in need of some legal advice, I bartend at a restaurant in California that has its own banquet area for big events and weddings (up to 300 people). There is a specific staff employed by the restaurant just for these events but us bartenders are used in both the regular restaurant bar and the special events.

This is where it gets interesting, whenever we (the bartenders) work the events we get a set pay of $40 per hour and that is supposed to include what we would make in "tips" from the event. But when we're bartending for a wedding it's pretty normal to receive $100-$200 in cash tips which is great. Except, the managers come by at the end of the night and collect all the cash tips and cycle them back into the "tip pool" which basically means back into the budget of the banquets department. We don't ever see a dime of that money because our set pay is $40 per hour. We could get tipped $700 in cash between 3 bartenders and it all disappears.

This has been going on for 3 years and it's now really getting on my nerves. Please help

Can a lawyer help me get an injunction that restrains them from operating the equipment until the violation is corrected?

    Posted: 06 Jun 2021 10:13 AM PDT

I live in a 2 family condo @ Newton MA.

Last month, the city has come onsite and took measurement of neighbors' AC compressor which is 20 db above the allowed limit. The city has confirmed it is a violation of noise ordinance but it takes months for the city to issue a citation and I am afraid the city will give them months to fix the issue.

The noise is taking a toll on my health day and night and I really can not afford to wait that long.

Can a lawyer help me get an injunction that restrains them from operating the equipment until the violation is corrected?

    Hostile Work Environment

    Posted: 06 Jun 2021 09:55 AM PDT

    Hello,

I was curious to see if anyone has ever had experience in a hostile workplace environment case.

I live in Ohio. I was fired from a great job I had last January by some higher ups. I worked with male felons in a corrections facility with substance abuse issues and I'm a 25 year old female. One of maybe 5 females in the whole facility, which had near 200 beds. So it was stressed to me to keep very clear boundaries, whixh I maintained pretty well. However, one day I was alone in my office and a client blocked my exit and hugged me. I wrote him up for it and I got fired after the fact because he was following me around the facility and I eventually got so overwhelmed that when he called me over I walked up to him and talked to him for a few minutes. But because of that, and the fact that he told the internal affairs investigator that I came on to him, it was determined that I had an inappropriate relationship with the client.

The client had asked for my phone number before and didn't respond to my redirection. I told my boss about it, but he told me if the client does it again to write him up and he would have an intervention with him.

I think this can make for a hostile workplace environment case, considering employers have a responsibility to keep me safe from clients. The whole thing was pretty traumatic for me and I know that talking to him didn't make sense, but I just kept thinking he was going to get out and track me down if I didn't smooth it over or something... I don't know.

I've spoken to lawyers for free consultations, but they get a bit hung up on how hard it is to prove sexual discrimination because I'd gotten fired for it. I just don't know what I should do. It put me out quite a bit and I feel really slighted by this company that claims its whole mission is to reduce recidivism and help its community then turns around and... does that.

I understand there's a difference between "wrong" and "unlawful," but I just feel like situations like that will continue if someone doesn't do something about it. Is it unreasonable to think this matters?

    Horse abuse in NYS

    Posted: 06 Jun 2021 10:51 AM PDT

We live next door to my boyfriend's grandpa who owns a large barn and have a relatively large pasture for horses. He doesn't own any himself anymore but rents out stalls to a guy that in my opinion neglects and abuses his horses. They are locked in 24-7 without any light in the barn unless I go over and leave the door open for them after he leaves. All he does is stop twice a day to feed and water them and doesn't ever clean out the stalls. There have been times where my bfs mom and her boyfriend go over and clean the stalls themselves but it's never the actual horse owner. I was over there just 20 minutes ago and the female is on at least 2 feet of her own shit. I think they're scared to call animal control or whoever handles animal abuse because the grandpa owns the property and might somehow be implicated in the abuse even though it's not his horses. I am personally sick of it though and I constantly feel bad for the horses. How can I help?

Just found out name on Birth Certificate different than name I’ve gone by my entire life. Can I legally start using it or are there steps to take?

    Posted: 06 Jun 2021 02:26 PM PDT

I recently went to the DMV to get my license and there was an issue getting the real ID because of my name not matching.

I was born as A B C, when I was a baby my mom changed my name to A D E. My SS card, ID, education, diplomas, certificates, everything is associated with A D E so thats what I've gone by my whole life.

The DMV said that the birth certificate is the main document they go by and insist A B C is my legal name. I called vital records and they also insisted my legal name they have on file is A B C and they don't see anything on their end indicating a name change. I explained my social is A D E and she said "this is a common issue that many people are dealing with b/c back in the 90s they only changed the name on SS and not birth certificates. And now the law is changed so unless you have a court order showing it, A B C is your legal name.

I do not have any contact with my parents and I've never actually seen any proof of name change document. So if A B C is my legal name, will this cause any issues with the fact that the last 25+ years I've been going by a different name. Can I just start going by this name? I've actually always hated my A D E name so I would rather have my legal name. How do I go about this?
