60 hours a week during 2 week notice? Posted: 12 Feb 2022 12:45 PM PST Hey guys, I recently had a post about quitting and I put my 2 week notice in. Should I work 60 hours a week during my 2 week notice? They have really loaded me up with work but I don't have as much motivation anymore. [link] [comments]
How do you decide if you want to climb the corporate ladder or peace out in government? Posted: 12 Feb 2022 02:32 PM PST If you are a 23 year old senior in Big 4 PA, you can probably grind out in corporate and hit $150k+ by the time you are 30. And it will only go up from there. 200k by 35, 300~400k by 40, etc. But then, let's say you exit to an easy gov job at 25. You won't ever have to work past 5 or pick up calls at 9pm. Your salary will be high enough to live comfortably. It will probably start out in the 70~80k range, which might be higher than what you were making before, but it will never likely exceed 110~130k even in your 30s and 40s. How do you decide which path to take? I'm genuinely curious. [link] [comments]

Small PA firm - can’t stand how they operate…. Posted: 12 Feb 2022 07:04 AM PST Started at a small PA firm like 6 months ago and here are some things that really bother me…. Can anyone provide any insight if other small firms are like this???
I'm probably forgetting a few things but those are what seriously bother me to the point I'm like is this normal???? I went from a top 10 PA firm to a small PA firm like (10 ppl max) and it's just very opposite of what I was expecting. Def going to find a new job in a few months so it will all be fine but I'm genuinely curious if this is how other super small PA firms run their offices?? [link] [comments]
Do you guys actually have a life during busy season? Posted: 12 Feb 2022 09:44 PM PST Just wondering because I feel like I can barely find time and energy to shower [link] [comments]
Posted: 13 Feb 2022 01:18 AM PST Hi guys, I am an Indian who is working in one of the big4 since past 2 years. I have completed my Graduation, ACCA and CPA. What are your thoughts of me moving to another country like UK, USA and continue with my career there? Also I am open to any advice regarding this. [link] [comments]

Posted: 12 Feb 2022 11:41 PM PST Hi everyone, Apologies if this has already been asked a few times before so if you'd prefer to just drop a few links to websites or other threads, I'd love that! I'm currently a full-time accounting/finance student, and can only work up to 20 hours a week. Given these restrictions, how does one land a decent accounting-related job? I'm open to clerk and assistant positions; just need the pay and experience. Can't quite find a way to break into the industry. I'm currently doing a co-op semester in an accounting-related field but I'm worried that might not be enough given that I don't 2-3 years of experience (entry level jobs seem to ask for this for some reason, but that's a discussion for another day). Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you! [link] [comments]
Does anyone think about going back to school to do CS Posted: 12 Feb 2022 06:29 PM PST There's a very reputable university in my country that offers a second degree in comp sci in just under 2 years. Or 3 if you do co-op. i know math is hard but what if i just grinded out 24/7 for the next 3 years and get a 200k job instead of grinding out in accounting for the next 15 years to hit that 200k. and even if i can't get FAANG, if I have both CPA and a CS degree, I'll be pretty much guaranteed to get some data analytics/business analytics for a minimum 120k i bet. much better than dealing with month ends for the rest of my life. Posted: 12 Feb 2022 07:27 PM PST In the spirit of salary transparency, just wanted to point you guys to payscale.finance, where I'm building a salary database for finance that's 100% free to and takes <45 seconds to use.. I think it's important to understand what reasonable offer letters are, and what other career options are out there... it's a new website, and there's tons of entries for big 4 accounting.. would love to hear everyone's thoughts/feedback on it if possible! Does anyone else in public feel detached? Posted: 12 Feb 2022 10:22 AM PST I want to do a good job and be passionate about my work but just with the amount of work and expectations I am getting/will soon get, I feel like I am emotionally detaching from work, and since work is all I'm doing right now I feel this way all the time and it feels a bit depressing. I was the opposite last busy season and was very into it but it caused me a lot of stress. I don't know how to shake this feeling, it's almost like a neurological response my brain is giving me to protect itself. How are you all doing? [link] [comments]
Posted: 12 Feb 2022 08:40 PM PST How did you guys study during college. Any tips or advice is greatly appreciated. Should i be practicing daily? Taking managerial and hate t charts and stuff. Been self teaching since covid made classes online last semester and just got in person. Also how relevant is what i learn in college? I heard its all just excel. Thanks. [link] [comments]
