Does anyone else ever have good business ideas that you have zero interest in pursuing? Posted: 14 Sep 2021 05:55 AM PDT I have recently noticed that in my area we only have a few dog groomers and for the past few months they are always fully booked atleast three weeks out. Furthermore, I was comparing the prices for the independently owned businesses and noticed that they have been slowly raising prices due to the increased demand. The demand for more dog groomers is incredibly hot, and it would probably be on the easier side to get the business going, but man I have no interest in pursuing it. It just kinda feels like a missed opportunity I am actively avoiding. Does anyone else ever get this feeling? [link] [comments] |
Should I start my vending machine business? Posted: 14 Sep 2021 10:22 PM PDT I've been wanting to start a side hustle for some time now. I thought about opening an e-commerce and even selling my own created product, however I feel like it's a too big step since I never owned a business before. I've been giving the opportunity of putting my own vending machine in a university. I have a few unique idea such as selling instant ramen, homemade onigiri packed properly and unique drinks from asia and america. Should I invest in the vending machine industry or is it a dead industry? Do you guys have any other suggestion on what I should sell in my vending machine ? [link] [comments] |
How much do you spend on ads as a new business owner? Posted: 14 Sep 2021 06:48 PM PDT I have my own studio spa for facials, waxing, lashes. I'm currently trying to find the best ways/websites to get ads out & how much I should spend. I'm using Instagram- Promoting my post ,I'm waiting for my google verification to start google ads, & I'm making post cards to send out with USPS direct mail marketing. Any other tips for small business marketing? Has anyone heard of "Nextdoor" for advertising! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 14 Sep 2021 03:13 PM PDT So I started 7 months ago an IT business and hired on the locally loved young IT technician and a supposedly very effective IT saleman that a family member knew. The tech has been amazing. The sales guy...not at all. He's come in around 30-40% of what he said he would bring in, he doesn't work a full 40 hours, disrupts the other business (with humor and chatting) in the same building as us, and doesn't act professional. Finally today I found out he contacted twice the CEO of a powerful local business we're working with, a CEO who has made it clear he is not interested in dealing with the details of our project with his organization and in my mind risked our growing dealings without even mentioning to the rest of us what he's doing. As such, I intend to fire him. I've reason at least in that he's not performed to the standard he gave us expectations on, and there's just so much other small and not so small stuff. I was in the Army so I'm used to doing hard things, but I'm also very used to the concept of team work and getting the job done together. This concept of cutting someone loose I can tell isn't meshing well in my mind. As such...does anyone have advice on how to make sure I have the right mindset and thoughts when doing this? I imagine I need to write up a letter stating what and why, but outside that...is there anything I should know from both a personal and professional perspective? Thanks in advance for any info, sucks that this is my first post here :/ [link] [comments] |
Is my business presentation appealing ? Posted: 15 Sep 2021 02:51 AM PDT The notorious and competitive game is finally digital! SHED, also known as PALACE, KARMA, PALACE, BASTRD or SHTHEAD is the most competitive, skill based card game on EARTH. Discovered ages ago by backpackers in Europe, today, SHED reaches your mobile device. This competitive multiplayer game is perfect for parties, gatherings or chill sessions at home! SHED was designed to mix in the perfect combination of skill, luck, and absolute friend destruction. Unlike other card games, you can never be certain who will win the game, even at the last moment, the most unexpected events can occur and flip the game upside down. Invite your friends to play and we guarantee you that SHED will be your favorite card game. The rules are simple: Play in increasing order (If a player puts a 5, you must play a 5 or higher) You can make one card switch between your main hand and the second hand at the start of the game. You must always have 3 cards in your hand while the deck is still full (you throw one, you take one, etc...) You can play more than 1 card (three 3s, etc...) There are 4 special cards: 2 - 8 - 10 - 7
There you have it, the complete SHED game, go ahead, give a try, invite your friends, but remember... Just don't become the SHED, it's embarrassing!
Special Thank You To: GOOD PM MUSIC, JULIEN ASSOUAD, JEAN DAGHER, GEORGE BAIDA, NOAH SANANE, KARIM NASR, KARL DAGHER, GEORGE MOUKHEIBER, HASSAN SINNO & JOE MOURAD for their respective contributions to the birth of the game! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 15 Sep 2021 01:14 AM PDT Here's the thing. First? It's 430am and I'm manic and I got 3 orders in after just mentioning my product service thing to strangers online. Do you guys know there's a huge film photography resurgence happening right under your nose? Film is cool again. Know what aspect of film hasn't gotten to the "cool" level yet? More so.. know what USED to be cool? 35mm slides. Send your roll of Kodachrome film to Eastman Kodak in Rochester in 1973 and get back a little box of 36 kodachromes all numbered and gorgeous with their little 2x2 mounts... people went nuts. It was the Instagram of idfk the 1900s? Slide film now is RIDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE. But it produces the most unique and incredible photos you can find on film to this day. The market's best solution to making slides for slide shooters? White plastic mounts. I created these: HONEYCHROMES I can mount folks's gorgeous slide film in equally gorgeous mounts. I'm in the process of designing a slide projector/viewer that is super small and portable for people to share their film with. A slide projector hasn't been in production since 2004! This was huge in the '70s! With the resurgence of film, I bet I could do something to make slide film cool again. Any ideas on CREATING a market where there's only baby tadpoles and a triscuit to work with? [link] [comments] |
How would you advertise for clients Posted: 14 Sep 2021 11:58 PM PDT I'm looking at starting a Personal Concierge business - so for people who are too busy to do things like wait for the gas man at home (when they give you a window not a time). Organise tasks that busy people don't have time for (but are willing to pay). How would you get clients for something like this??? They would generally be high flying corporate people I imagine. More money than time!? [link] [comments] |
Franchise or go my own way? Dog boarding business Posted: 14 Sep 2021 11:44 PM PDT I've been wanting to open up my own dog boarding/ daycare business. After some back and forth with my partner we decided to seriously consider a franchise… well shocker FDD came back and reviewed by our lawyer and nobody is happy with the terms….like I originally figured in the beginning, but even the lawyer said this is one of those most 'stringent' FDD's she's reviewed. Anyway, point is, now we can't decide if we should bring up negotiating terms as suggested by the lawyer and see what the franchise says / is lenient on. or if we should just go our own route and decline everything. The hardest part for me is everything up until grand opening. I'm not worried about day to day operations. But I am worried about zoning, permits, construction, all the legal things that happen before grand opening. Is there anyone I can hire who can help with business start ups?! Do these people exist? Such as consultants or whatever?? And what are they called? for example, I need someone to tell me 'you need: this, this, and this license. And now you need to find a facility within these zones, and now you need to consult with a contractor for construction but you need to be aware of these things… I mean, I sort of know what to do as I researched quite a bit before we went down the rabbit hole of franchises. I've been working with my local SBDC which has been very helpful…. But I need more hands on help too?. What do you think? Should I see if the franchise will be lenient on some terms and see how we feel, or should we just go our own route? [link] [comments] |
How do I stop getting ghosted by customers? Posted: 14 Sep 2021 08:09 AM PDT OK so I am a small online custom graphic T-shirt business owner. I get about 80 visits to my website a day and about two emails from customers saying how great my products look and how awesome my designs are but yet no one buys anything. I also have 10 people signed up for our email newsletter. How do I keep from being ghosted by customers and have them interact with shopping carts more and to check out. #joanyjunktion [link] [comments] |

Golden Handcuffs - Business ownership Posted: 14 Sep 2021 04:42 PM PDT I am curious if others have been in a similar situation. I have long wanted to start a business. Have never found the thing that was right for me. Always thought I would work and gain experience that would serve me well when I made a move. But now I am approaching my mid-30s and I'm looking at a lot of businesses I have concerns that even when successful they won't make enough money to justify the jump. I currently make about $175k a year and have always thought I would be in a position to go a year without income while I start a business. But now I don't think starting a business would be wise for my family. So I have thought about buying a business. But valuable businesses that would give me enough income to justify the purchase and the upside of replacing my income require a lot more money. My wife makes a good income too so we wouldn't starve but we have a house and expenses. It feels like the target is moving and harder to reach as I look at businesses with multiple million dollar valuations. The more experience I get the more I know I would be able to succeed but it also makes me realize how important having a team with skilled people to lean on in their area of expertise is to success. I am curious if others have felt the pressure of golden handcuffs and how did you manage it? [link] [comments] |

Looking for any recommended manufacturers Posted: 14 Sep 2021 08:07 PM PDT I am looking for any recommended manufactures for (custom) clothing and miscellaneous items, like stickers, enamel pins, mugs, tote bags/backpacks, and all that good stuff. I am NOT interested in drop shipping from sites like printful and prinitfy, or redbubble, teeturle... I would like full customization for my items, and personally package it myself, from house. The reason why i ask is because I've been warned about alibaba, but it is the only wholesaling website i am familiar with. ANY advice is super appreciated!! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 14 Sep 2021 08:06 PM PDT Broke, would love to have my own business. Don't think I'm terrible at managing money just don't have a lot. Want to create a side gig that can become a full-time gig and up my earning power in the process. Assets: 6 years in Environmental Regulatory Compliance, M.S. Environmental Science, $1000, 2-hours 10pm-12pm nightly. Part time gig earning $60k net and growing would be sufficient for me to switch to running my business full-time. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Did you buy a business with an SBA loan? Posted: 14 Sep 2021 12:15 PM PDT What was your experience? How much did you need to put as a down payment ( percentage wise)? Did you need specific experience in the field/industry of the business you purchased ? [link] [comments] |
A catering order for a non profit school? Posted: 14 Sep 2021 07:44 PM PDT Hello everybody, I have a regular client that is a "non profit university", they do large catering orders and I cant charge them tax for what they buy. They mentioned something about a form to claim a tax free sale? I am wondering what that even means or how I would file for something like that. [link] [comments] |
Drive thru coffee out of garage? Posted: 14 Sep 2021 01:41 PM PDT I'm entertaining the idea of turning my garage into a drive thru coffee stand in WA state. I'm looking into a mix use permit but this would also require using the alley as the drive thru. It sits behind a commercial zone/main drag. It wouldn't be too difficult to add a window and self contained sink for sanitation. I would only sell drinks and packaged baked goods. Has anyone heard of this or am I thinking too crazy here? Expanding Online Retail to Brick and Mortar Posted: 14 Sep 2021 03:20 PM PDT Hey guys! So I opened up a collectible/card shop last year. I have been researching the next step as far as whether or not it would truly be beneficial to open a storefront. This would take place sometimes next year. With this industry there are some very good perks having the brick and mortar. This includes higher allocations, and some products (including high demand product lines) can only be sold to businesses storefronts. Have you found the increased expenses to be worth it? First net operating loss (2020 naturally) while applying for 7(b) Posted: 14 Sep 2021 06:50 PM PDT Spoke with accountant packaging us for the bank. He doesn't seem to think it will be a major deal since it was the first net operating loss in over half a decade and a seasonal business that was shut down for 8 months partly courtesy of our fucking governor. Perfect credit, working capital and experience in industry. Anyone else experience this? The 7A will allow us to pivot a bit and give us a separate revenue stream. Pro forma was super helpful. LO feels confident. Ugh this is so stressful but I refuse to let the government win and pivoting ensures the continuation of the business. [link] [comments] |
Questions about expenses for new company Posted: 14 Sep 2021 06:34 PM PDT I am starting a new business and I need some financial advice. I currently do not have an LLC, but I plan on forming one, hopefully in the next year. I need to spend some money on things like domain names, logo design, and a new computer. If I pay for these things using my personal credit card, can I claim them as a business expense? Also I've already purchased a handful of domain names that I've been paying for for several years. If I use any of them for business purposes, can I start counting them as a business expense? Do I need to open up new credit cards, make these on one dedicated card or can I use my existing credit cards? Thank you in advance, I would appreciate any input! [link] [comments] |
Nigerian cosmetic oil selling in Germany Posted: 14 Sep 2021 10:04 PM PDT Hey, I would like to import palm and peanut oil for cosmetic use. They are produced in Nigeria (where I am already selling them). My question is how to approach selling them in Europe (Germany). Would it be possible to start selling them before passing all regulations like in a small afro shop? [link] [comments] |
Looking for advice from other small or start-up embroiderers Posted: 14 Sep 2021 11:54 AM PDT Hi all. My wife is looking to start a small home business doing embroidery for the local area. She wants to get advice on what route she should take whether starting an LLC and then having a DBA for her embroidery company or simply a sole proprietorship. The area we are in has a very low amount of embroiderers and she is creative, driven, and experienced with embroidery machines as she has worked with them for a few years at her parents' shop. Thus, she is looking to start her own shop as we just moved across the country to this new area. What business structure do you recommend for her? She's expecting to make about $500 in profit by Dec 31 of this year as she begins to advertise the business in the area and we take in orders from other parts of the country. Next year, total profits she's forecasting $5000-6000, and the following year $10000-15000. She would like to get as many tax advantages as possible. She also wants to finance a third of the value of the machine for the business to build credit, thus she's currently leaning towards an LLC with a DBA as she is also launching a media consulting firm which could be a part of the LLC with its own DBA. Additionally, she's open to any and every other helpful tips you wish you had known when you started your embroidery business! [link] [comments] |
China 3PL provider for kitting, assembly, QA, packing, and international shipping Posted: 14 Sep 2021 11:50 AM PDT What has been your experience with 3PL providers in China? Do you have any recommendations? Any tips on who to avoid? I'm getting my vendors in-place for a new product launch. The components on the BOM are manufactured in Shenzhen. My plan was to do the assembly myself (in the EU) before shipping to the distributor in the US, but I realized the tariffs for import just make that too impractical. So now I'm looking for a 3PL provider that can do kitting, very basic assembly, QA, packing, and shipping to the order fulfillment warehouse in the USA. Also, while independent trade unions are sadly illegal in China, I'd prefer to only include organizations in my supply chain that pay fair/living wages to their staff and provide a safe work environment. Does anyone here have experience (good or bad) with 3PL providers in China? [link] [comments] |
How to integrate father who is extremely experienced into partnered business? Posted: 14 Sep 2021 05:46 PM PDT I recently opened a landscaping business with my brother in law splitting everything 50/50. He is inexperienced but has availability to complete jobs. Overall I feel he is an asset for the company. He is focused on lawn maintenance and I focus on the admin and sales of the company but have more experience. We tackle project jobs together. We are just over one month into business and starting to see revenue come in. My father who I learned everything from and currently runs a his own unorganized landscaping company in another state, wants to move closer to me and my family. He has mentioned wanting to run a business with me in the past and has offered to come and help with large projects. I have brushed it off with a thank you in the past not ready to accept his commitment since he lives in another state. He has everything a single man operation would have for landscaping except for large machinery such as a bobcat or a trencher. His knowledge and work ethic in the field would be a great person to have. His down fall has been administrative work. I am welcoming general thoughts on integrating him or is there too much family being in business together. I would assume my father moves down here and gets a job while he would help part time. My brother in law and father like each other. If my father does join what would be a fair agreement to stand on when he does helps? Hourly, per job, percentage buy in since he has so much equipment. I also don't feel like kicking my brother in law out of the business in anyway. I have not talked to either of them about some how joining forces. I'm just trying to gather thoughts around this odd scenario before we start getting a lot more work. [link] [comments] |
