Unnecessarily harsh review notes Posted: 13 Sep 2021 05:57 PM PDT Hey everyone, I work at a small firm and there is one manager with who I have to work with, who just gets off on review notes. You know the ones where he goes personal, like "What were you thinking putting this here?" or "this is just really bad". Nothing constructive, just lashing out. Now, I'm a staff for a reason - because I do not know it all and I'm here to learn, but I can't communicate when I feel like I am being attacked and my work is going to be chewed otu no matter what. I've raised this issue before and nothing has changed; I've even turned in some crappy work to try to make him stop using me, but that, of course, backfired. What would you do in my situation? I'm really thinking of quitting, as I know now that I won't be climbing the ladders in this firm because of him. [link] [comments]

Can I ask not to be put on an engagement with a certain manager? Posted: 13 Sep 2021 06:10 PM PDT I'm so miserable right now. Not just because it's busy season. I'm working with an high level manager (they're basically almost partner) on an engagement and it's absolutely soul draining. It's just me and her working on a project and its terrible because she never has time to explain since she's not a senior or another experienced staff, and expects god-tier work from someone who was hired one month ago. And I don't have help from anyone else. Whereas on the other engagement I'm on is extremely pleasant and sets reasonable standards. I don't want to quit this engagement, and being hired recently means I probably don't have any sway on anything. And I bet it'll look bad if I tell the scheduling manager to not put me on any of her engagements, but she's making me hate this job beyond belief. [link] [comments]

How many of you have 9/15 clients not meet the deadline? Posted: 13 Sep 2021 08:34 AM PDT I have clients for 9/15 who still have yet to send in any of the requested information and it's looking like we may miss the deadline and work out the following weekend [link] [comments]
Posted: 13 Sep 2021 08:03 AM PDT I graduated college in May and got what I thought was my dream job around a month ago. The pay is amazing, the benefits are even better, but the longer I've been here the more I have come to realize that all of my coworkers hate each other and make it everyone else's problem. Everyone is constantly competing and so caught up in trying to catch someone's mistake that nothing gets explained like it should. I had a personal "get to know you" meeting with one of my bosses and she said "yes I scheduled this because I just want to know, who do you even think you are?" and she spent the next 30 minutes yelling at me for asking a question about training. She said asking questions come from a negative mindset and that I need to just trust her and if I can't do that I can't be here. Basically I am terrified now of asking questions and it's really hurting me with learning my job duties. I know starting a new job is an adjustment period but witnessing my team's interactions this past month has tainted the business in my eyes. If I were to hop back on indeed and apply to places, would it look bad that I've only been at my current work for a month? I don't even mind a pay cut at this point I just don't want to be miserable. I don't see a future here and the sooner I find another job the sooner I can work my way up elsewhere, but the go to advice is always "stick it out". Thoughts? [link] [comments]
Posted: 13 Sep 2021 07:56 AM PDT I know why it would be a bad idea. But, as a dogless person, it would be great if there was a dog at the office who I could give belly rubs to everytime I got stressed out. [link] [comments]

Fresh graduate wanting to jump straight to year 2 audit associate (experienced audit associate) Posted: 13 Sep 2021 09:44 PM PDT Hi guys.. I'm currently undergoing my audit internship at Deloitte and my internship period is 8 months.. I also did an audit internship at Kpmg for 3 months before during my semester break so I'd have a total of 11 months internship audit experiences. If I'm not mistaken, audit associate requires 2 years before jumping to senior associate..I would like to ask is it possible if I can jump straight to experienced audit associate y2 when I'm applying for full time after I graduate based on the 11 months audit internship experiences I'll be gaining? All the tasks that I did and currently doing as an intern is similar to audit associate 1 hence why I would like to apply for the y2 audit associate role. Thank you! [link] [comments] |
