    In December 2019 I was driving on a major roadway (speed limit 65). Another vehicle in the lane to the left of me, going much slower than I was, swerved in front of me into my lane. I slammed on my brakes but still hit them.

    It was their word against mine. They said they'd been in my lane the whole time. My insurance paid theirs, I had to pay my deductible and I was ticketed for following distance. I tried to fight it and lost. My insurance also went up - I had a ten year safe driving discount that I lost.

    Now in a very weirdly shaped miracle of sorts I went to a new place to get my haircut and the stylist recognized my car (I drive a distinctive car). She was apparently in the lane to the left of me when the accident happened. The other car was in front of her and hit their brakes until they were only going 20MPH and then changed lanes to get in front of me. Her take on it was that they saw they were about to pass the exit they wanted and were in the wrong lane, so they tried to slow down (to not pass the exit) and change lanes fast to make it. She had a dash cam that shows all of this happening.

    Even crazier, she actually contacted the police back at the time it happened and they had her email the footage. They replied saying they would add it to the accident file and parties would be informed, but obviously I never found out about it and I still ended up with a ticket and all that.

    She still has the email convo with police and the footage. Obviously I feel vindicated to know I'm not nuts, it really happened the way I thought it did. But more to my question: is it worth trying to do anything now, like trying to get the ticket reversed or fight anything insurance wise?

    Town house illegally evicted me

    I owe $0 to these people, I recently renewed the lease. I haven't received any phone calls or emails that they were going to evicted me. I come home from work to find out my room has been locked. I slid my phone underneath the door to found out my whole room has been wiped out. I called the cops & they told me what they did is illegal. I went to the main office to find out what happened and they were telling me it happened because I was in the wrong room ( they are 3 other rooms too, but all of them are empty) They blamed it on the system and that they were sorry & to send them a email on everything they threw out to see if they can fully compensate me. They threw away everything but besides my tv,Xbox, laptop, & my ebike. All my clothes, colognes,mini fridge, my social security card, my wallet that had my ID in it, many bracelets & chains GONE. Now they wanna charge me $200 for a room transfer even though I was never told i was in the wrong room till now. I lost many things that money can't buy. This is unacceptable. I want to know if this can stand & if I'm able to sue for more than what they threw out. I also live in Florida

    I became sensitized to chemicals at my workplace and contracted acute full-body contact dermatitis, ultimately visiting urgent care 7 times in 2 months. When my boss's boss became aware, I was fired within a week for a "cell phone violation", and denied unemployment. Do I have any options?

    I never thought I'd be in a situation like this, but here we are.

    Last September, I started a contract job for an industrial chemicals company at a Big 3 engine production facility via an employment agency. It was a good job, the best one I've worked so far. Unfortunately, as described in the title, it didn't work out, and I incurred ongoing health issues that affected me for many months. I'll outline a brief summary of pertinent events.

    Timeline
    2nd week of November
    - While job shadowing with a trained technician, we need to make a chemical add of Bioside 15 to a coolant tank in the plant. Bioside is some nasty stuff, hence the name: "Kill life". My coworker informed me that we're technically supposed to wear full-body Tyvek suits while handling it, but said that he hates doing that because it's uncomfortable, he's been handling Bioside for 10 years without issues, and as long as we're really careful, we'll be fine. I made a big mistake, and I listened to him. So we handled the Bioside with face shields, safety glasses, and elbow-length chemical gloves. I have no memory of any chemicals contacting my skin, but somehow I must have made contact with the Bioside, as we shall see.
    - The next morning, I notice some skin irritation on my right forearm. I show my coworker, and ask him if it's related to the Bioside. He suggests thoroughly washing the affected area, and applying hydrocortisone to be safe. I follow his advice.
    - Over the weekend, my forearm breaks out in awful rashes and swells considerably, up to twice its normal size. At this point, I'm very concerned. I text my boss a picture of my forearm, and tell him I think it may be related to the Bioside addition. He questions me, asking whether it could be related to anything else. He also suggests visiting urgent care, which I do on that day. At the urgent care clinic, I report my visit as a work-related injury, and list the chemical company as my employer (mistake, because technically I was employed by a temp agency). The doctor at urgent care diagnoses me with contact dermatitis, and prescribes with cream (I can't remember the exact kind), and steroids.
    December-January
    - After visiting urgent care and receiving prescribed treatment options, I felt hopeful. But unfortunately, my condition worsened. Rashes spread to my left forearm, and eventually, over my entire body. I had rashes on my stomach, my neck, my back, my thighs, my calves, my feet. It was awful; I looked and felt miserable. I told my boss what was happening, and re-visited urgent care. We all hoped that treatment would solve the issue. And steroids did eventually calm the swelling (my coworker said I looked like Popeye). But the rashes lingered. They worsened during the work week, and improved over the weekends. And over Christmas week and New Year's week, the rashes nearly disappeared. This period coincided with downtime for the plant, so at this point I was not handling chemicals for over two weeks.
    For context: About half of our jobs as technicians consisted of washing down engine components with mineral spirits for quality testing. After it became clear that my rashes were affecting my entire body, I began wearing full-body Tyvek suits, face shields, double (if not triple) gloves, and I washed my hands thoroughly after every instance of handling chemicals. I should note that my coworkers only wore gloves and safety glasses, but otherwise performed the parts washing in short-sleeve polo shirts. I did the same up until my dermatitis outbreak, and never experienced any deleterious effects before my (likely) Bioside exposure.
    - Unfortunately, my symptoms returned after production resumed in January. I felt afraid, because this was the best job I'd ever had, and I really needed the money, so I didn't want to concede that I might be unable to work the job. But at this point, I realized that the chemicals I worked with must be causing the ongoing issues. I held out hope for a couple of weeks, and even told my boss that my skin is improving when he asks (wishful thinking), but eventually, I reached my breaking point. I was feeling stressed and overwhelmed, and eventually, I called off work, telling my boss I needed to return to urgent care and solve this issue, if possible. This is when matters really ramped up.
    Last week of January
    - After calling off work and telling my boss the reason, my boss contacted his boss. This is when the trouble began. Though my boss had known about my condition since November, neither of us had formally reported the incident to anyone, besides urgent care. We felt hopeful that it wasn't chemical-related, since I couldn't remember contacting the Bioside, and felt optimistic that it would resolve itself with treatment. But once it became abundantly clear that it was related to work and wasn't improving, and it was reported to higher-ups, this was management's immediate reaction: Fire me, immediately. My boss informed me that this was going on, and that his bosses wanted me gone.
    - During this same week, my boss and I met virtually with a safety and compliance officer with the company, who proceeded to berate us and try to establish any sort of causation that might cast doubt on whether my injuries were work-related. He lambasted us for not following the exact company procedure for workplace incidents (we were supposed to call a number, apparently; I'd never been injured on the job before, so I thought going to urgent care, reporting the injury as workplace related to the clinic, and telling my boss/coworkers would be sufficient). To be honest, I thoroughly disliked this man. I got the acute sense that he was trying to allay blame from the company at all costs. Some additional context: One of my coworkers (the same one I'd made the bioside add with) had spilled liquid propane on his hand a few weeks prior, which necessitated an urgent-care visit for second-degree burns. And we'd also experienced an acid waste container exploding overnight (for whatever reason, the company always stored its acid waste containers out in the open air), which could've caused serious injuries if anyone were present. So at this point, the company higher-ups are asking serious questions about the safety protocols at my workplace. My boss informed me that his job might be in jeopardy.
    - My boss took me off all parts washing duties, and assigned me to chemical testing (titrations, mainly), in order to eliminate exposure to the mineral spirits. On Thursday, he joined me in the lab for an extended period. He told me that his bosses were exerting considerable pressure on him to fire me, but that he was fighting for me, because he saw me as a "great engineer for this company in a year or two" (I have a chemical engineering degree). He told me to buy new steel-toed boots, to ensure that my ankles were covered. I complied that evening, texting him a picture of the boots to make sure they were appropriate. He actually called the shoe store to ensure that the boots were paid for with the company voucher. He then texted me, "Sorry for wasting your time".
    - Upon arriving home on Friday night after work, I received a phone call from the temp agency. The chemical company had terminated my contract, citing a "cell phone violation". And that was that. I genuinely felt stunned. I should note that I'm sure I did violate their cell phone policy at some point; phone usage was prohibited on the manufacturing floor...yet everyone used their cell phones on the manufacturing floor. Forklift drivers, machine operators, line workers...I'm struggling to think of anyone who didn't violate their cell phone policy. My own coworkers in the chemical company often sat on their cell phones for hours at a time on any given day, as I did. Basically, if the company wanted to, they could fire anybody for the exact same "offense". Fired on a technicality.... I was denied unemployment, which really hurt.
    - I remained in contact with nearly all of my coworkers, four of whom agreed to be job references. One of my former coworkers informed that our boss told the team that he'd had no choice but to get rid of me, because his bosses informed him his career was in jeopardy if he didn't. Apparently my boss felt very upset over the whole situation.

    I apologize for the length of this post, but I really needed to cover all the requisite ground. So, to summarize...

    Here's what I can prove
    - I have extensive text messages from my boss and coworkers that definitively establish that they all knew about my injuries in November.
    - I have pictures of the initial outbreak.
    - I have urgent care visit records, for all 7 of my visits.

    For reference, here are some pertinent photos of my arm and text screenshots.

    Here's what I can't prove
    - The conversations with my boss about his bosses wanting me fired were all verbal, unfortunately. I have no proof.
    - I can't 100% prove the exact cause of the dermatitis, but frankly, I'd say it's beyond a reasonable doubt. My condition immediately improved after long work breaks, and after being fired. Although it lingered on my legs for months afterwards, it never worsened after January, and cleared up quickly in all other locations on my body.
    - I can't prove that I wasn't at fault for some sort of OSHA violation with the initial exposure. Yes, my coworker told me we were fine to forego Tyvek suits, but ultimately I had the power to insist that we wear them. Instead, I chose to trust his judgment, which was a big mistake. So while you could argue that I was acting reasonably to trust my coworker's experience and judgment, I can't deny that I could conceivably be nailed on this point.
    - I can't prove that I was fired because of the dermatitis. Unfortunately, on technical grounds, I'm quite sure I probably did violate their cell phone policy. Which sucks, because that's a technicality, but it is what it is. Although I will note that they never cited a specific incident which violated their policy; so perhaps I shouldn't have acknowledged that reason on my unemployment application, without first establishing exactly what incident they were referring to.

    My question for /r/legaladvice:

    Do I have any good options here?

    I am not the litigious type, but I missed out on $7,000 in unemployment during the three months I was out of work, which really hurts. I've only got $1300 in the bank, because I nearly ran out of money without the unemployment. And I ultimately took a job that I wasn't sure about as a result of badly needing money. So that's an unfortunate ripple effect too.

    My friend works as an employment lawyer, and told me that he feels I probably have a strong case for wrongful termination or disability discrimination. And he's promised to get me in touch with a friend of his who also specializes in employment law, as he obviously can't represent me himself. I'm not interested in lawsuits if they can be avoided. Really, I'd just like to get my unemployment money if at all possible. While I'm quite confident that I was fired illegitimately, and my proof should absolutely be sufficient for anyone on the street, I worry that I don't have ironclad evidence that would hold up in a court of law. I also lack funds to even pay a lawyer, too, which is very unfortunate. I'm kind of stuck here.

    TL;DR: Fired on a technicality. Do I have any options?

    Just found grow room in my attic, what do I do?

    My now ex is living in my house. I was gone for 7 months, came home to find a grow (in a state where it's not legal, New Hampshire). Ex is refusing to remove it. If I report it, will I have legal repercussions as the homeowner?

    Purchased bitcoin years ago website says there was a mistake when I tried to withdrawal only offering refund. Is there anything I can do?

    Between 2016-17 I made three transactions on the site xcoin.io (100,100,500) equalling up to 0.46433086 btc. Ever since then the website showed that as its balance. I recently tried to move the amount to a hardware wallet; however, the transaction didn't go through but my balance showed zero, and next to my history all my transactions said refunded.

    I contacted them and they replied with:

    "Thanks for reaching out. It appears as though your account was showing an incorrect balance which is why this withdrawal did not go through. There was an issue with the original transactions and no bitcoin was credited. We can issue an ACH refund for your original payment. What is your bank account number and routing number?"

    They are offering an 800 dollar refund for what is valued at 17394.34 at the moment. I find it hard to believe there was ever an issue with the purchases. It seems suspicious that the issue only appeared years later when I tried to withdraw.

    xcoin is in Santa Monica CA and I am located in NY.

    Is there anything I can do to pursue this?

    My brother is felon that has a conflicting job with his parole officer

    My brother was released from jail 2 years ago and since then has changed his life around. He got a really good job that hired him even with his conviction record. His first parole officer was pretty hands off because she saw how well my brother was doing and changing his life around. He has recently been assigned a different parole officer. This guy requires my brother to meet him every 3 weeks in person. The problem is that my brothers job requires him to travel 4-6 weeks at a time. The probation officer refuses to do it virtually and demands they meet in person every 3 weeks.

    Is there anything my brother can do? This is in Louisiana

    My wife was injured by a pedestrian throwing rocks at her through a car. How should we best proceed?

    I'll give some context upfront as it' a little involved. In general looking for the best way to proceed, but I do have some specific questions as well.

    My wife was ridding as a passenger in a car on a highway. A presently unidentified assailant sent a rock through the windshield and hit her in the head/shoulder.

    She was taken to the ER after this. There was severe bruising on her head/shoulder, but there hasn't *yet* been any long term damage discovered physically. She already had prior traumas, and is very mentally disturbed by the incident. I think it will take her years at a minimum to recover fully mentally, if she ever does.

    The blame is also complicated.

    There was no assailant identified the night of. However someone was arrested in the same place the next day.

    In addition to maybe this person being held liable, we are more thinking the city state should be held liable. There have been literally over 200 things thrown at/in cars from the highway in the last 2 months. Several people have already gone to the ER over it. It's a known problem that the city/state keep pointing fingers at the other on, and nothing had been done on it. They have been insisting the other agency is responsible for building fences/guards or something like that, but that hasn't been done.

    Since then they arrested that one man caught throwing rocks (only because that victim hoofed it out of the car and tackled them.

    Additionally, there is a *major* homeless camp above/next to the highway where this has happened. They cleaned it out around the same time as they arrested the other attacker.

    We'd really like to sue for damages... but I'm not sure how to go about it. Some specific questions:

    What type of lawyer should we be looking for? (Personal Injury I think?)

    Who should we be suing in this case?

    Assuming I can get multiple lawyers interested in taking the case, how do I best compare and contrast them to find the right one for us?

    What sort of payment structure would be ideal in this scenario? Should we be finding a lawyer who will take part of the winnings if we win, or should we just pay someone hourly? If the case is a slam dunk, I could probably afford around 5-10k in legal fees if it would mean a much larger settlement for us. Not sure what the right approach/balance is about maximizing settlement vs lowering potential risk of fees.

    My wife is fighting for her life and is on palliative care. She was successfully treated using a clinical trial drug, but we are unable to obtain it in order save her life.

    4 years ago on the day of our rehearsal dinner, my wife started her first round of chemotherapy. She had been diagnosed a couple of months before with stage IVb endometrial cancer. The following 6 months she endured monthly chemotherapy, hairloss, and a major and life changing surgery. It was our introduction into the world of living with and trying to survive cancer.

    Since then she has experienced several recurrences, received several successful treatments, and traveled to several of the top hospitals around the country in search of something cutting edge, like the stuff you see on the front page of reddit from time to time about breakthrough therapies. All the time, my wife and I were beginning our lives together. We learned how to be a good husband and wife, she went to school full time to become a nurse, we bought our first home, and we got Millie, our puppy.

    All the time distracted by the journey of our lives that we were starting was the constant reminder of her persistently returning cancer. We needed to find our breakthrough therapy - one that could allow her to live her life finally free of this horrible disease.

    We participated in several clinical trials after countless hours of research and consults from physicians and patient advocates all over the country.

    We found it. She was enrolled in a phase 1 clinical trial of a Wee1 inhibitor drug. This type of drug targets a rare mutation of hers. This is what we've been looking for! We moved across the country and took the chance.

    We held our breath when they finally reported results after a month of therapy. The drug worked, and it worked very well. it reduced her cancer by 90 percent in just one month. She continued on the trial for several months.

    We finally started to see the future of our lives together unfold in our minds. We were able to conceive a life with this horrible disease behind us and not talk about the future with an undercurrent of apprehension. After all, we wanted to start a family.

    Suddenly she was removed from the trial. Phase 1 trials are designed to determine safe dosing, and Becca's was too high. Her platelet count was too low. Can she take a break? Can we reduce the doseage? No and no. Furthermore, she is ineligible for admission into ANY wee1 inhibitor clinical trials in the future. What a shame as the therapy is now in phase 2b throughout the country with huge success and given in more moderate dosages.

    Fast forward to today. She is downstairs, trying to sleep again. She can't make it through the night because we have to use a 60 mL syringe to empty the bile from her stomach several times from a NG tube that comes out of her nose. Shes listening to a loud podcast. It helps to have white noise over the sound of the pump that powers her TPN, or liquid nutrition, and soon I will have to wake her up to drain ascites fluid from her abdominal drain.

    Her cancer has taken up most of the space in her abdomen and is blocking her intestines. She cannot eat, drink, or even swallow her own spit. She weighs 85 pounds.

    The palliative care team keeps reminding her that she doesn't need to continue down this road if she doesn't want to, but she wants to fight. After all, she is only 35 years old.

    Despite the incredible amount of physical and emotional pain she is in, she will not give up. How could you when you KNOW there is a drug that will save her life.

    Her Oncologist is on board. She will create a treatment plan and safely administer it.

    The drug companies will not let her have it under compassionate use/expanded access despite "right to try" legislation that was signed in 2018.

    We don't know what else to do. We have called, sent letters, e-mailed, and pleaded with the drug companies to release the drug to us with no liability. Please, if anyone has any ideas for how to approach this, we have been through the Goldwater Institute, Mytomorrows, Widetrial.

    Does anyone have experience with this?

    Edit: We are located in California

    Edit 2: I hope this is okay to add, but since social outreach might be our best hope I've added a petition that we have started in hopes that it helps garner more attention from congress and/or the drug companies.

    Process Server delivered papers to me that are meant for a previous resident of the apartment.

    Some background: Bought my apartment in NYC in 2020. Previous owners were renting it out, and one of the renters was running an LLC out of the apartment. I still keep getting mail meant for his LLC that I drop back into the mailbox for return to sender. When I google the LLC, I see the address still listed is my apartment.

    This morning a guy rings my bell and I open the door. It's a process server with a pack of legal documents. He asks me to confirm that this is my address, and he hands me the documents and walks away. I am groggy and confused at this point. I look at the documents and see it is meant for the LLC of the renter. I yell to him to try to get his attention that these aren't meant for me, the guy seems to ignore me and keeps walking.

    Am I responsible for getting these documents to the previous owner? Should I contact the lawyer on the cover sheet? This feels like a hassle.

    Only JUST found my business partners of 15 years created a shadow company 10 years ago that directly stole company assets, and rebranded them. What can I do about it?

    This is a software company. Their shadow business has gone on to be very popular. All without my knowing until about 2 weeks ago that they had even removed the software advertised on our company page in 2018 (both companies have been selling the same product with the same name for some time now, without my knowledge) I code, I don't do social media, and I haven't checked on our website in a while. These were supposed to be my partners, I trusted them and had no reason to be suspicious to even look for something. They are very brazen about it all, so maybe they know something about limitations or how little I can even do to regain money and stolen assets? Would a lawyer throw their hands up in the air and not even want to deal with it?

    school refusing me court ordered name change

    I’m the Guardian of a child whose mother has just been arrested for dui-drugs in another county, what can I do?

    Oklahoma: I am wondering if there is any sense in contacting the DA presiding over her dui case to inform them that she is currently involved in a child neglect case. I do not want her to get this baby back, I watched him go through withdrawals when he was 5 months old. He is now thriving with me. He is now almost 19 months and this case continues to drag on. Our next court date is in October for a review, and I've just found out she was arrested for dui drugs this month. What should I do with this information? She is obviously not getting better but because this arrest took place in another county, I'm not sure either court would just know that the other case was happening. Can I call or write the DA in the dui case? I am not currently represented but the baby is and his attorney basically represents the guardianship at this point. Even if this winds up downvoted, an educated opinion on what I can do with this info would be greatly appreciated, I've lost a lot of sleep worrying that she was eventually going to check enough boxes with the court to get him back. Her history of suicide attempts, self harm, hardcore drug use, and the graphic onlyfans page she's set up in the midst of this debacle has not been enough to do anything but keep the court setting review after review. I'm worried for the baby's future.

    Customer wont pay, says i'm not licensed or insured.

    Colorado. I had a client of my day job ask if I could do some metalwork when their other contractors fell through. I did what they asked and they said they were very pleased with the work, but after emailing them with the total bill they want to negotiate it down "since i'm not licensed or insured" and it was most likely illegal for me to do the work in the first place. They know that I do this purely as a hobby and never asked for any of this type of documentation before I started. I've never even heard of a "license" to weld, certification sure but I doubt the state would require an xray of a weld on a handrail. The insurance thing I guess makes sense, I probably should have that if i'm welding on someone's property.

    Is it worth talking to a lawyer over? The total is about $2000 over 3 weekends of work, which is a significant amount of money for me. I have copys of all our texts and emails of them asking for the work to be done and agreeing to the proposed hourly rate.

    [SC] Previous Tenant Refuses to Accept Certified Mail of Moveout Invoice

    As the title states, I sent a certified mail to my previous tenant for costs associated with the move out. It was sent to the rental address as they have already proceeded with mail forwarding and post office can't give out the new address. The tracking history shows they've attempted delivery a few times and left notices. How can I go to court and say "I've sent the bill, they should've got it" when the tenant refuses delivery? Do I need to hire someone to serve them the bill?

    Social Security wants to recoup all of the childcare benefits paid to me last year

    My spouse passed away two years ago, and Social Security began paying me childcare benefits at the end of 2019. However I just got a letter saying they want to recoup all the benefits paid to me for 2020 which comes to over $12,000. I have called numerous Social Security attorneys' offices already and been rejected because they all say they only handle disability claims. I want an attorney who can help me in disputing the recoupment.

    I have an old loan from identity theft in collections, how do I clear it up? (Kentucky)

    I found out this year there is a 14 year old loan in my name that is in collections. The loan got taken out the same year I entered foster care. I sent the collection agency a copy of my birth certificate to prove I was 4 when the loan happened but they didn't care.

    How do I get the loan erased from my record? My efforts so far haven't worked.

    my friends parents (texas) are taking money out of her account that she worked for.

    my friend is 16 and has very shitty parents, they won't let her use her own money without yelling at her, they yell at her for asking for $20 but just yesterday they took $150 from her account without telling her. all of the money in that account was earned by her at her job. is that even legal? google won't give me a straight answer

    KIA won't give me an estimate to claim in Class Action Suit

    This all starts in 2017, when KIA issued a recall (Recall#: SC147) on 2011-2018 KIA Optima engines due to shoddy manufacturing which led customers to experience engine failure and fires after about 100,000 miles (as well as several other models of KIA/Hyundai with the same Theta II 2.4L GDi engine). A class action lawsuit ensued and KIA has settled and agreed to give customers hundreds of millions of dollars in compensation as well as provide replacement engines which come with a lifetime warranty.

    Now for my side of the story... I currently live outside of Atlanta, GA in the United States. I bought a used 2012 KIA Optima from a small dealership in North Carolina in 2019. The dealer mentioned the lifetime engine warranty (can't find documentation of this) in his sales pitch which leads me to believe my car was inspected by KIA and deemed an engine replacement unnecessary (the dealer also wouldn't legally be able to sell the car at that point if it had an active recall on it.) I'm now two states away from that dealer. Last week the car stalled out on me the highway. I was able to start it back up, but could only drive it at about 10 mph without a terrible metallic knocking and grinding sound coming from the engine. I limped the car straight over to my local mechanic, who told me the engine was done and not to drive it anymore. From there I got it towed to the KIA dealership for $250 and I have an appointment scheduled to have my car serviced on September 16 (I'm obviously not the only one having this issue).

    I talked to the service manager at KIA yesterday and he told me he won't even be able to look at the car to check if its eligible for a free engine replacement until at least August 9th-14th. Curiously, the last day to submit a claim as part of the class action lawsuit against KIA is August 9th. There in lies my problem. I have no receipts, estimates, or even confirmation of whether I will need to pay for repairs or not.

    Right now I have a receipt for $250 for the tow, but if I need to replace the engine that could cost up to $6,000 and in the meantime I need to rent a car for $40/day which also comes out of my pocket until KIA deems me worthy of compensating me $33/day according to their policy. I didn't elect to rent a car yet but I probably will need to if I won't have my car back until mid September.

    I also don't know how to put a monetary value on the inconvenience that all this has caused me or on the depreciation of value on my car, both of which are supposedly also covered under the class action, but I don't see a section for these types of claims on the claim submission form. A loss of faith in the car is also covered and definitely true to me, but again I don't know how to claim that or put a monetary value to it.

    It seems a bit sad to need to hire a lawyer in order to participate in a class action suit, but is that where I'm at right now? I have no idea what the next step is.

    Apartment manager lied to my rental insurance adjuster (FL)

    I recently moved out of an apartment where my carpet had to be replaced due to a negligent roommate.

    My rental insurance covers up to $100,000 personal damage and up to $500 pet damage. I chose a low pet coverage because I have one 6 yo cat who is lazy and really just lounges.

    When filing a claim I chose personal damage because that is what it was.

    Well when my adjuster was talking to my apartment manager, she told the adjuster that it was all pet damage from my "large dog". I have never owned a dog and I have proof of this. There's no way this damage (mostly deep stains from my roommate always spilling things and not cleaning it up) is from a dog.

    So my adjuster is trying to get ahold of my apartment manager again to reopen the claim and she is now not responding.

    I also don't understand why the property manager would only want $500 from my insurance when the whole thing is covered.

    I lived at a complex owned by a corporation rather than privately owned.. is there anyway I can speed the process up of getting this fixed?

    NC quick lube oil place left oil cap off, they are refusing to pay for repair

    2 weeks ago I brought my car in for an oil change at a quick lube place. I don't normally go there but I was very pressed for time and my usual shop couldn't get me in. Last week my check engine light came on. Since my car is under warranty I brought it to the dealer for service.

    At the dealer the informed me the prior place left the oil cap off, which damaged the O2 sensor and left a hell of a mess. I had them fix it so I can get my car working again.

    I called the oil change place and they inform me they will not reimburse me for damages because I didn't bring it to them, and at the bottom of the oil change receipt it states something along the lines of failure to return to them voids the warranty and protects them from damages.

    I feel gross negligence (leaving the oil cap off) kind of makes all this moot, but I'm no lawyer.

    Can they really just not cover the cost of the repair because I didn't bring the car back to them?

    Is violence from neighbors a reason to break your lease in Arkansas or is my friend out of luck ?

    My friend Melanie (not her real name) called 911 on her one of her neighbors because they had an argument and it escalated. She saw the husband choke and beat his wife. Melanie told the cops everything and gave them video from her Ring camera that showed it.

    The husband got arrested. When the wife got out of the hospital or came back home she came to Melanie's house and assaulted her because Melanie called 911 even after they said not to. She isn't allowed to see her husband now. The neighbor had a bat when she did it. The wife also told Melanie her husband would do worse. The wife was arrested and she got bailed out. She can't go near Melanie but Melanie doesn't want to stay there. She has a broken arm. She wants to break her lease because she can't afford to move without it. Melanie's lease ends March 31, 2022.

    Melanie's landlord won't break her lease so could she legally make her landlord do it or is she out of luck here?

    Paying Back Employer - URGENT

    So in short I was working remotely for a CFP who works in Texas and I live Michigan. I was the only employee working for him and to say the least it was a very toxic environment. About a month 1/2 ago he was given "soft funds" from a company he does business with that was suppose to be for "marketing purposes" etc but, he used those funds to pay me upfront 2-3 months instead. Working for this guy has been a complete nightmare and I don't believe how he treated me was normal in any way, he had every quality of a terrible boss but, other issues even on top of that so I was planning on quitting once those funds ran out but, the other week he completely went off the rails and I really had no choice but to quit so now I'm trying to figure out how much I owe this guy back. I messaged him after I quit saying I understand I will need to send some of the funds back and agreed to it, and would do so once I get the funds out of my broker account which takes 5-10 business days but, even after that message his been blowing up my phone relentlessly with threats, name calling, telling me if I don't pay him back all of it right today (which was last Wednesday the day I quit) he's going to press legal charges against me, etc. I'm not to concerned with the threats because I don't believe I've done anything wrong. I agreed that I will need to send some of the funds back and would do so once transferred to my bank account, and once I calculate what is actually owed back to him.

    So getting to my actual questions, I had 10-14 of vacation days I never used and other benefits I was suppose to receive but, never did so am I allowed to deduct the vacation days to whatever balance is left? What am I entitled to pay back exactly and what can be deducted? I really don't believe there's any legal action he can take upon me or the fact he would because I myself have a lot on him with prof for the way his treated me and runs his business which is completely unorganized. I'm not that person though and would rather walk away and never look back at this terrible experience I had but, I don't know all the laws to this stuff so if anyone can bring some light I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

    [TN] Alamo Renter hit my car, said he purchased insurance, Alamo denying claim

    My car was hit by a driver that was in a Alamo rental car back in early June. The driver refused to provide any info other than the VIN and his name. He said he filed a claim with Alamo. Fast forward two months and I have contacted multiple times and Alamo has denied my claim as he did not purchase the renters insurance and refuses to provide the drivers info. Because I only have a name, what are my options? I just want to get my car fixed.

    Alamo has told me that the driver had no personal insurance. The car has to have insurance to be on the road. Alamo is citing laws stating they aren't responsible. Please help.

    There was no police report as it was on private property.
