Education Secretary Miguel Cardona: We Demand a Response For Student Loan Cancellation From Education Secretary Miguel Cardona - Sign the Petition!

    Posted: 02 Oct 2021 09:39 PM PDT

I'd like to ask for your help in supporting our fight to keep the politicians and government accountable.

President Biden PROMISED to cancel $10,000 of student loan debt from every borrower.

Biden is unsure whether he can cancel student loan debt with an executive order.

Therefore, Biden asked the Education Secretary, Miguel Cardona, to investigate the matter.

Biden asked Miguel Cardona to write him an official memo with his conclusion in MARCH of 2021.

We've been waiting 7 months now for Cardona to write that memo to the President of The United States.

We are demanding that Cardona do his job. If the answer is a "no", at least just write the memo and say so instead of stringing us along.

If the answer is a "yes", then let the President know. 44 million Americans have student loan debt, so this a big issue.

We're paying Cardona his salary with taxpayer money, so he should at least do his job.

I have shared a PETITION below demanding that Miguel Cardona respond to the President with that memo, otherwise, he should be removed as The Education Secretary.

Please support the petition here: https://chng.it/QmQ9CpszDs Thank you so much for your support and please be sure to spread the petition on your social media to hold our government and officials accountable.

Math Question: Why does the loan not pay off evenly?

    Posted: 02 Oct 2021 12:40 PM PDT

    Example: If I'm paying $300/month

    Jan- $40,000

    Feb- $39,755 (-245)

    Mar- $39,490 (-265)

    Apr- $39,220 (-270)

    May- $38,930 (-290)

    Jun- $38,677 (-253)

Is it the interest rate that's causing the odd deductions or something else entirely?

What are people actually estimating the tax brackets to be in 10-15-20 years when their IDR forgiveness happens?

    Posted: 02 Oct 2021 05:37 PM PDT

Are the current 2021 rates conservative enough, ya think? I know no one knows, but do we think tax brackets will be roughly the same in the long run? My taxes would come due in 2041 and I want to save more generously to anticipate worse situations but I also want to be realistic if possible. I would have a big time balance due, like $400k. So I guess I'm interested in what you guys think "high earners" (lol) will be taxed.

    Thanks in advance!

Student loan servicer took my money out of bank account but did not apply it to loans. It's missing?

    Posted: 02 Oct 2021 03:11 PM PDT

SOLVED...I AM AN IDIOT (Only looking at the payment history for one account, not both (website a little tricky). Leaving up in case others make the same mistake. I'm glad I was nice to everyone over the phone and over email haha!)

    Hi!

I'm a little stressed here! I have been paying down my student loans ahead of time to take advantage of the interest/payment pause. I have made payments before that have been fine, no problem. Four months ago, I set up autopay to take TWO $175 payments out of my bank account and had them allocated to two student loan accounts, one federal and one GradPLUS. I checked the other day through my payment history, and only ONE $175 payment is ever applied to one of my loan accounts each month. However, both $175 payments are taken out of my bank account each month. The bank said it's not their problem, there are no holds, and my loan servicer successfully withdrew the funds. I contacted my loan servicer and they sent a generic reply with a link to my payment history, which I re-reviewed to confirm that I am correct in saying that the other $175 payment has never been applied and it's not in my bank account. I emailed back asking for a reply to my actual question, and to inform them of what my bank said, with proof of their two $175 withdrawals each month since June. It's outside of the window for a refund payment (in the past any payments I made within 180 of disbursement have been dated to a date at the end of the quarter/year or something like that and not the date that I actually paid them). So, I don't think it's delayed in being listed or anything like that.

I am hoping I do not get sent around the world to get my $700 properly applied to my loans. Anyone ever heard of this and am I missing something? If they don't reply again in a week, although I am expecting that they will reply, I am pretty prepared to just take it straight the the FTC if that's where I need to go! It's a pretty big loan servicer and not sketchy at all, but now I have lost trust in them. Have I overlooked something?

    Thank you!!

    NHSC-qualifying jobs (mental health)

    Posted: 02 Oct 2021 11:47 AM PDT

    Hi all,

I am a licensed social worker recently took a job at a non-profit psychiatric hospital in an inpatient floor. when I asked if my employer was a non profit organization eligible for the National Health Service Corps and the HR rep said yes. however, I was doing a little digging online to prepare for when applications open and I read somewhere that inpatient hospitals don't qualify. Does anyone know if non profit psychiatric inpatient hospitals definitely do or do not qualify? if not, does anyone have an explanation for this? TYIA!

When to apply for Grad Plus loans?

    Posted: 02 Oct 2021 02:55 PM PDT

I'm applying to grad school to start Fall 2022. Do I apply for Grad Plus loans when I've been accepted or before? This feels like a silly question! I've just finished my FAFSA and it's got me thinking about it.

    Thanks for any help!

I've somehow managed to spend over £370 in my first 2 weeks of uni - that's bad right?

    Posted: 02 Oct 2021 02:31 PM PDT

I'm kinda freaking out because I have no idea how much my first accommodation payment is (the uni website is worse than useless), and there are still so many things I have to buy.

I can't rely on getting help from my parents because they're broke as well, and I'm already using a £1000 overdraft from my bank.

Other than the obvious answer of 'get a job', does anyone have any ideas that could help me?
