Posted: 07 Jun 2021 08:58 PM PDT Title says it all. I'm Director of Operations for a small clothing company. We have 10 employees and last year, crossed a million in gross sales. We are on track to beat that well before Q3 this year. For some reason, my bosses have been paying for everything in cash which I thought was unwise, so we all went to Wells Fargo and applied for the card. We got denied. This is absurd to me because, without giving too much away, we spend upwards of 100k a month and we are literally paying cash for everything. I understand personal credit matters too, but I don't know what's wrong with either of my bosses. Each of them rents their own place and generally has their shit together (I know because I run payroll so I know what each of them makes). How do I appeal this? I'd also rather not do a secured credit card because I have one of those for a side business of mine and it was such a gigantic pain in the ass to set up. [link] [comments] |

LLC/what do you wish you knew? Posted: 07 Jun 2021 07:19 PM PDT Howdy all, brand new to this sub. My wife wants to start a baking business, it's been her side hustle for a few months, it's proving more lucrative than her normal job, and far less stressful. I support her in this, but lack experience of my own, so I'm looking for help for her. I have two questions (for now haha). One, what do you wish you knew about starting your own business now that you have some experience? Two, what does becoming an LLC mean? I can Google it, but don't have the context to really understand the answers. [link] [comments] |
Looking for rock solid education Posted: 08 Jun 2021 01:14 AM PDT Hey guys, I've been trawling through endless crap online and I have no idea what a good source of information is anymore. I'm trying to build an ecommerce store to sell a product that I manufacture in Australia (artistic decor), I would like to create it as professionally as I can and drive as much traffic to it as possible. Does anyone have any on point books, YouTube channels or any other sources that give clear and executable guidance on the best way to do these that will max results? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Great taglines for scrunchies small business Posted: 08 Jun 2021 05:36 AM PDT Hello guys. What would be a great tagline for scrunchies business? I am thinking of business name "giving you the best scrunchies in the world" but i also think that it is very common and i feel its beyond my capabilities lol bc i know my scrunchies arent the best. My point is, taglines that could be realistic and creative somehow. Thank you! [link] [comments] |

Packaging Help - MDF is expensive Posted: 08 Jun 2021 04:04 AM PDT Hi We create items (various shapes & sizes) that are delicate for courier networks to handle. Therefore when certain items can't be relied upon in a cardboard box with packaing material, we have to make a surface protection carcass box from MDF to mitigate damages from the courier. However, since May 2020, the prices for MDF sheets from manufacturers have sky rocketed (approx 3 x the price). With another approx 40% increase in the next month. This isn't sustainable long term. Does have anyone know of more cost effective rigid material we can use to make surface protection carcass box? Many thanks [link] [comments] |
TwitterStats.app - a new tool for enhanced twitter analytics Posted: 07 Jun 2021 11:48 PM PDT Hello everyone, Tweet and then measure - understand how your tweets perform, then you can get better at Twitter. Studying the Twitter API v1 and V2 I understood that Twitter Analytics could provide more detailed tweet statistics for their users. I've decided to build, at the beginning of this year, a solution that combines the powerful insights provided by Twitter API v1 and V2. TwitterStats.app is now in beta live and available to try for free in just 2 clicks. No account creation is required. I would be grateful for any feedback. Thank you. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 07 Jun 2021 02:07 PM PDT We had a lot of ready to drink iced tea expire recently, the tea is still good to drink and being enjoyed by our staff, but we have way more than we know what to do with. I was wondering if there were any recycling companies that might pick up the expired bottles for free to recycle and sell as recycled materials or if anyone has any suggestions on how to best dispose of them. Our current waste management company is advising us to dispose of the product because the recycling upcharge is quite a bit. Unfortunately, it's a lot of glass that we'd really like to avoid tossing into a landfill. Any suggestions on how to best deal with this predicament is greatly appreciated. Edit: I should also mention that the bottles are labeled with a plastic/vinyl label and sealed with a metal cap. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 07 Jun 2021 09:47 PM PDT Hiya- I'm the guy from this post about being a 22yo business owner a couple months ago with my inspection getting passed and all that good stuff. (STUFT Cookie Company if you want to take a gander). I have my first presentation to board of about 10 people to see if my product would be a good fit for their shops around a pretty large Midwestern hospital group. What should I have prepared? What should I avoid? I have a printout for each attendee of a business overview (our story, mission, future goals and business plans etc.) as well as a bunch of finished product samples and a retail product shelving display recommendation and a marketing strategy. Delivery days and timeframe offers and a retailer margin offer of 20% (thoughts? Too aggressive? Too giving? The average I've been able to find in research is around 25-35% but that seems to be for supermarkets and the like) Any questions I should have for them? Also how does a deal like this typically look like at this level? Do they pay up front? Do I send invoices and get paid as they pay them? How should I approach spoilage? Add a % of margin to cover or eat the loss in a spoilage buy-back plan? (P.S. a nice caveat is that I work for the hospital group as a tech in the ER, though in don't know anyone in the presentation, so that should help the process a bit, yeah?) Tyia! [link] [comments] |
Do I REALLY need to get a business bank account when starting this particular sole proprietorship? Posted: 08 Jun 2021 12:46 AM PDT Business newbie here. I'm setting up a sole proprietorship in California. It is a research and development business working on a shoestring budget, where I don't plan on making any sales or major business purchases in the first six months. Since the budget won't allow for many transactions initially, I'm leaning towards waiting on getting a business bank account than getting one now with low funds and incurring monthly fees. Is this a reasonable approach? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 Jun 2021 02:07 PM PDT Okay so heres whats happening Over pandemic i started a small business for window cleaning hoping to soon just work for myself like everyone else hopes. Do you guys think my boss would understand if i told him i have another job and i need off on fridays to focus on that? Im doing great work for the company but its just not reflecting in my paychecks and im getting very worn out over it..... Sorry for being all over the place im just in limbo right now.... Posted: 07 Jun 2021 04:03 PM PDT Hello reddit world. Started this biz 5 years ago as a specialty construction contractor focused on commercial clients (no residential). Have grown to 18 employees. Did ~5M in sales last year with 300K in net profit (cash basis), and me and my biz partner pay ourselves ~300K combined. We are on track to do about 7-8M this year with around the same profit margin. Our clients are likely the most coveted clients in the world for my industry. Balance sheet is in good shape. No business loans of any kind are outstanding. I have a biz partner, but I have the controlling share. Appx. what would this biz be valued? [link] [comments] |
How Can I Reduce My Inheritance Tax Bill On My Own Property? Posted: 07 Jun 2021 09:46 PM PDT On the off chance that you own a house, it is important for your bequest for legacy tax purposes and legacy expense ought to be paid on it when you bite the dust at 40% anyway there are ways that can help diminish the duty bill. As indicated by HMRC rules you don't settle legacy tax if the accompanying concerns you: Legacy tax limitEvery individual has a tax exempt recompense of £325 000. On the off chance that the worth of their home at the hour of their passing is under £325 000 no legacy duty should be paid. Passing the house to mateOn the off chance that you pass your home to your companion (your husband\wife) or a common accomplice, noble cause or a local area sports club you don't pay legacy tax regardless of whether you do that inside 7 years of kicking the bucket. In the event that you pass your home to your kids or grand kids the tax exempt recompense will increment from £325 000 to £500 000 and you won't need to make good on legacy tax if the complete worth of your bequest is £500 000 or less. You can in this way diminish or try not to settle legacy tax if the worth of your home is inside the tax exempt remittance edges. You can do this by making the accompanying strides: Giving blessings during your lifetimeIn the event that the worth of your home is £325 000 or less yet the worth of your complete domain which incorporates cash, assets and so on surpasses this edge you can part with them as blessings during your lifetime. HMRC has characterized such endowments as absolved blessings and you have a tax exempt remittance of £3000 each year. In the event that you don't utilize this recompense in a specific year you can convey it forward to the following year. Parting with home prior to biting the dustRegardless of whether the worth of your home is more than £325 000 and you pass it to your life partner there is no legacy tax regardless of whether you bite the dust inside 7 years of parting with it. You can part with the house and keep living in itIn the event that you give the house to any of your family members or even to your youngsters and live for a very long time there will be no legacy assessment to pay on it. You can decide to keep living in a similar property nonetheless, you should offer lease to the new proprietors at the market rate and cover every one of the bills of the house. In the event that the new proprietors are your youngsters and they are living with you in the property you don't need to pay lease regardless of whether you gave them a segment of your property. Giving foundationIn the event that you leave 10% of your domain to noble cause, the legacy duty will be paid at the diminished pace of 36% Moving any unused nil rate band among a coupleOn the off chance that there is any unused nil rate band when one of the accomplices passes on it tends to be moved to the tax exempt remittance of the other accomplice and this can decrease the legacy tax bill. In the event that you own a property or you have acquired a property or you are selling your property and you need to think about the taxes don't spare a moment to call Taxaccolega and our master group of accountants will be eager to assist you. Posted: 07 Jun 2021 09:48 AM PDT Besides having constant connectivity and software issues with Shopkeep over the last 6 years, we have recently discovered that they have double-loaded several gift cards over the last 3 years. It's similar to a double charge of a customer, but in this case, they refuse to refund us almost $1000 they have stolen from us over time. If anyone is interested, I can show you how to check if you have been scammed too. I have warned them of a possible class action lawsuit and they don't seem to claim any responsibility for the theft. DO NOT USE SHOPKEEP! They are crooks!! Email me at josh@gardenbarnmt.com if you want to see my process to find double-loaded gift cards. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 07 Jun 2021 02:27 PM PDT So I recently switched to square to take payments because it offered a lot more useful tools than my last processor. I took my first 3 payments yesterday and the "reports" section makes NO sense. For one, under gross sales, a $220 purchase comes up as $213, a $215 purchase as $204, and a $58 purchase as $55. Next, my taxes (which I include in the price) are all less or greater than what I figure on a calculator. I even checked on a tax calculator online thinking I just couldn't do basic math.. nope.. it's wrong, whether I deducted their fee or not before subtracting the tax. Third, the $215 purchase had a 15% discount applied which brought it to182.75... which is super weird since it lists the "gross profit" as $204 yet gives the correct 15% discount from $215 to $182... Lastly, it also has two different amounts as my "net profit" for the $215 purchase, depending on what section I'm looking at. Square says it's $178 after their processing fees, which is correct and what it paid out to my account, but it also lists $172... what the hell could be going on? I'm afraid to keep using them and throw all my tax information out of wack. The only thing they seem to have listed correctly is what is owed to me after their processing fees. Every other bit of info is wrong. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 Jun 2021 12:49 PM PDT I have had faced several problems from trying to find a Cofounder to lost motivation amongst team members to problems faced with Marketing strategy to finding the right people for the right job, market validation where to start, working while having a day job, boot strapping. I wish the whole process of trying to create a startup from conception of an idea --> to finding the right team --> all the way upto getting the first round of investment or making your first round of income was properly streamlined through one process that would benefit everyone involved in the business without having to loose their time and effort. So I have a new glass door refrigerator- merchandise needs Posted: 07 Jun 2021 12:31 PM PDT Who can suggest what items would go in a glass door refrigerator that will not! Raise the concerns of my local health department. I bought it so I can keep my candy bars without having to turn on the air conditioning on medium temp days. Who doesn't love a cold candy bar at the beach. But I'm going to have leftover shelf space. Suggestions? Extra bonus points if it can sit on room temperature shelves/be shipped without refrigeration- before being stocked. [link] [comments] |
Should I Rent or Buy a Warehouse? (Pros vs Cons?) I Have a Dog Treats Company Posted: 07 Jun 2021 04:01 PM PDT Backstory: · I started a business similar to a Dog Treat Company back in 2013. Since then I have had a local private label company produce the dog treats for me with my brand name on the treats. · Fast forward to 2021 - Our small 4 person company has been able to put 2 million dollars cash in the bank with 0 debt. · We want to move away from our private label manufacturer as they have struggled to keep up with our growth and have a host of other problems. Where we are now.... · We want to start producing the dog treats ourselves and want to buy machinery + hire a formulation specialist. · In our area, to buy a building the proper size would cost 1.8 Million dollars (we'd have to put 35% down = $630,000), whereas renting would be 6-8k per month) and take out a loan to cover the rest of the building cost. · We'd need an additional $500,000 or so to run our business (salaries, inventory, supplies etc) + $300,000 for machinery. This would leave roughly $400,000 in cash (outside of our loan) we don't need immediately for any purpose. Should we rent or buy a place? Renting feels like such a money suck and something you do if you don't have the funds. Buying feels far more logical - that way we'd just be paying down a mortgage instead of paying rent Is there an obvious answer here? Our brand has grown 20% + every year and we want to take the next step in growing our business. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 Jun 2021 03:42 PM PDT Hi guys, I have been thinking about creating my own small online business that sells baked goods, pastry and stuff like that. I personally do not have any trade qualifications in becoming a chef/pastry chef. The big question is, would it be better if I recruit a pastry chef as a worker or as a business partner? Obviously the worker wouldnt receive as much benefit as a business partner in the long run but in the short run, a business partner could help alot. If any of you have similar experiences, please help!!! Ps: I work as one of the management team in a small bakery that involves costings, cash flow, labour management and etc. TLDR: do I necessarily need a pastry chef to help run a small pastry business and if i do, do i look for a business partner or just a worker? Need electrical contractor partner Posted: 07 Jun 2021 03:16 PM PDT Hey guys, I want to buy an electrical contracting company in south Florida. I am not an electrician nor do I have an engineering degree, but I've been in business management positions for almost a decade, I've performed complete renovations on several homes, and I was in a project management and sales position for Otis Elevators for 4 years, dealing with trades professionals, contractor negotiations, purchasing, working through problems and finding solutions, and everything related to working through detailed and sophisticated jobs in construction. I thrived there and construction management issues are not an issue or foreign to me - and neither is the ability to estimate and secure new work. I am looking either for a retired business owner in the trade who would like to get back into the game a bit by offering their license to me and training/mentoring me in running the business successfully OR an active business owner in the trade who would be willing to either sell part of their business to me OR an active business owner in the trade that would buy an existing electrical contracting business with me to add to their existing business. We will both put money up to fund the acquisition and you will train and mentor me to keep it going strong. I will manage all day to day of the acquires business and split the distributable profits with you based off of our agreement. Any takers? [link] [comments] |
