GA - what can she sue for? Uninsured VS STATEFARM. HELP Posted: 02 May 2021 01:35 AM PDT This past weekend on the highway my car hydroplanned, lost control, I spun out and smashed into a median then got hit by another car. I spoke with an attorney and LT police officer who both told me regardless if she hit me I would still be at fault because my car hydroplanning caused a chain reaction (her to hit me) which I guess makes sense in a way. Both of the cars are totaled. I'm uninsured, she has StateFarm. I contacted her trying to make amends without insurance/lawsuits and she said she was perfectly fine physically but if I wanted to help her she is looking to get "tens of thousands for a brand new car" her exact words. I died inside. I'm 19, broke college student (but have a 800 credit score) I'm so scared I can't even sleep. I haven't been able to sleep because I think my life is ruined now. I feel like I'll end up homeless/garnish wage/ruined credit/ I'm just thinking of the worst. This is my first car accident. I've heard that normally in a situation like this, her insurance pays for her car & then they would come to me for reimbursement... But I was told this too... Do you think her insurance company could possibly just realize it's not worth getting lawyered up and suing a 19 year old who has nothing to give, pay for her car & write it off as a loss or keep it moving?? I know she could still sue but chances are low if she gets what she wants from insurance which is a car. SN: I was driving my uncles car whom I didn't know didn't have insurance until I called him on the scene asking where is the card to show police. SN: I'm a 19 year old AA student & She is a 22 year old student from Singapore if that matters. [link] [comments] |
Auto insurance adjusters, how do you prevent burnout? Posted: 01 May 2021 10:49 PM PDT Let me start by saying I love my job, my coworkers, and the company I work for. I've been at it for a few years now, started with auto property damage claims and now bodily injury claims. Naturally, the nature of our jobs can lead to some burnout. What do you all do to minimize/prevent this from happening? Just looking for some simple suggestions, cheers and thanks! [link] [comments] |
Any estimate as to how hard I'm going to get railed on an auto insurance in ON, Canada? Posted: 01 May 2021 10:14 PM PDT 23 M. Have never wanted a car but I'm realizing I don't really have a choice. Don't have a license and therefore no driving record. Old cars are still expensive so I'm leaning towards something newer and I've heard that newer cars can even be cheaper to insure due to safety features. Some cars I was looking at were the 2021 Mazda3, Tesla Model 3 (this one is upper end of cost and would really depend on insurance) and other cars around $20k/$3-400/mo range. I know girls around my age paying over $200/mo and they've been driving since 16 with no accidents so I'm not hopeful for my insurance rates. Same question with motorcycle insurance for something like a Ninja 300/400. My friend is same age and pays $330/mo but he does have an accident on his record. [link] [comments] |
Hail totaled my daughters car how can we make sure we get a fair offer from Geico TX Posted: 01 May 2021 02:43 PM PDT My daughter has a 2006 Pontiac g6 convertible with right at 100,000 miles. There was a hail storm on Wednesday night and she was at work. Her poor car. We took it to a collision place we trust on Thursday and they said that Geico would total it. We are waiting for an adjuster to contact us to come look at it. Her windshield has several cracks, her headlight and taillight are both busted. The drivers side mirror is broken as is the casing and the dents are all over the car. There is not a single panel that does not have a dent. And they are big dents. The hail was at least golf ball sized. She was one of the lucky ones at work. I have dealt with a lot of things with insurance but never a totaled car. I have read thru some things on this sub, and if someone can tell me what we can expect I would appreciate it. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 May 2021 09:13 AM PDT Our car was totaled, we were at-fault, we have comprehensive insurance and our insurance is covering the cost of the car. I have no idea what this means, "Please note that if you are unable to replace the vehicle with a comparable vehicle for the gross settlement amount within thirty-five (35) calendar days after receiving the final settlement check, you may contact the undersigned to request the file be reopened." If we can't get the same car for the price in the settlement, what will my insurance do? I talked to someone who said they may up the settlement amount if we can't find the same car at the settlement price but I still don't understand what this means. Edit: I'm in California, AAA is my insurance. [link] [comments] |
Do you need to insure a vehicle with a 30 day TOP? Posted: 01 May 2021 06:05 PM PDT Car had a shady smog history so it was referred to the state referee. I need to drive the car so the carb cleaner can take effect. I am in California in Los Angeles county. [link] [comments] |
22 Years Old In Need of Dental Insurance Posted: 01 May 2021 05:12 PM PDT I have about $5000 worth of work I need done of my teeth, and honestly much more needed in the future due to poor hygiene as a kid and chronic TMJ. I'm currently on my parents dental insurance, but it only covers cleanings and x-rays every 6 months. I need root canals, crowns, fillings and some type of high quality mouth guard, all of which will costs thousands. I am also on my parents health insurance, of which the dental is separate. I'm wondering of any dental insurers that have wider coverage and is solely for dental care. I'm living in California for reference. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 May 2021 11:02 AM PDT My company switched insurance companies and apparently there's no where for me to review this company but Canada Life insurance is the ABSOLUTE worst insurance provider I've ever dealt with!!! If you have the option I wouldn't suggest them at all. My previous provider SunLife was phenomenal compared to these useless human beings… Thank you for listening [link] [comments] |

Trailer damage that my husband never reported, is it too late? Posted: 01 May 2021 10:18 AM PDT Hey guys, my husband and I had a blowout Jan 2020 on our trailer worth about 10k. When the tire blew it took out the back support under our wheel well. We both didn't think anything of it and thought it was the support and not the frame. Is it too late to file a claim and have that fixed? We were insured at the time of incident. Located in California. [link] [comments] |
Cheaper insurance options for young driver not on parent’s plan Posted: 01 May 2021 04:53 PM PDT Hi Redditors! I, 23(F), am trying to find a way to lower my car insurance. My parents don't want me on their family plan and I currently pay over 180/mo to be on my own plan. I've had my license for about 4 years now and I can't seem to find any company with reasonable rates for someone in my circumstance. I've tried using AIS but it hasn't done much good. The only blemish on my driving record is a non-at-fault accident (parked car got hit) and I drive a standard midsized sedan. If anyone has any suggestions, please help! Thank you!! Got a job selling health insurance Posted: 01 May 2021 04:30 PM PDT I got a job for a company that I believe is pretty legit, compared to most life insurance IMO's. I am already licensed in one state, but they are paying the fees for me to get licensed in other states. I am starting off as a 1099 and will have the opportunity to switch to a W2 after my first 90 days. It is exclusively inbound leads so I will do zero cold calling. I have to ask for clarification on the commission schedule, but she broke it down in at the interview and said that the average agent makes $300 per day. So far everything seems legit but I am going to take it with a grain of salt until I start seeing dollars flow into my bank account. Do you guys think this is a good way to get my foot into the health insurance industry? Is health insurance better than life insurance? How about p&c? I have so much to learn [link] [comments] |

America road trip with a rental car Posted: 01 May 2021 03:40 PM PDT I'm an American expat living in Thailand and will be visiting the US for 3 months in July. I'm going on a 3 month American road trip using a rental car and do not currently have any auto insurance. I know some credit cards offer insurance if you purchase the entire rental with it, but I believe my credit card (Amazon Chase Signature Rewards Visa) only offers secondary insurance coverage. Also, I know rental agencies rip you off with their insurance coverage (ie $15-30 a day!) What GL and collision insurance would you recommend me obtaining for a 3 month auto rental? Any good sites to locate a plan? Also, since it's a rental I won't have a VIN # etc and brand/make of car. Suggestions please? [link] [comments] |
Uncertainty about the time permitted. Posted: 01 May 2021 03:11 PM PDT I was stuck while riding a bicycle on the road shoulder in California. The driver just decided to pull right into me. Unfortunately, the insurance company has been virtually silent since acknowledging the claim on 3/10. They asked me to provide pictures regarding the bicycle and other damaged equipment at that time. However, since then, they have not communicated anything. Is there a specific amount of time they have to get back to me? I noted a few results mentioned 40 days, but are the days calendar days or 'working' days? [link] [comments] |

Broker is making mistakes on application - should I be worried? Posted: 01 May 2021 01:42 PM PDT western Canada location Im applying at a new insurance company for multiple houses. The broker has been very friendly. But after a couple of weeks we're nearly done but she's made some goofy mistakes:
There were other more minor miscommunications that just make me wonder if she's competent. Ive had a major claim in the past and I know how important it is to get coverage accurate but now Im a bit nervous. Should I be worried? Who should I talk to other than the broker, I dont want to get off on the wrong foot if we even have to go through a claim but I also dont want to get into a major claim and find out she screwed something up and I dont have proper coverage. Ive already emailed her about the mistake in coverage start date, so Im hoping her and my emails are enough to cover my butt IF a claim were to happen today. [link] [comments] |
State Farm telling me speeding tickets are not a factor in monthly price Posted: 01 May 2021 01:13 PM PDT When I talked to my rep, she assured me that speeding tickets were not a factor in price, only an accident that was my fault from 3 years ago. I just took a safe driving class, so my license balance will get +5 points. I was always under the assumption that speeding tickets raised your rates, but according to State Farm, I guess not 🤔 [link] [comments] |
Will my car insurance rate go up even if I cancelled the claim? Posted: 01 May 2021 08:39 AM PDT So I made a claim with my insurance company a few days ago. Me and the other driver involved resolved things on the side and we both cancelled the claims that we originally made with our insurances. My question is, since I reported the claim will my premium be impacted when it's time to start a new policy? I've been reading online that since my insurance didn't pay anything out that it won't have an impact on my premium, is this true? [link] [comments] |
GA- Car Accident. No insurance. No assets. Please read. Posted: 01 May 2021 10:53 AM PDT [GA] Car Accident. No insurance. No ASSETS. FALSE REPORT. Sleepless nights. HELP. PLEASE READ. 19F I had to drive in 100% severe thunderstorm/hail. It was the worst I've seen in years but it was an emergency, I have to go get my 15 year old sister that was stranded at the airport. She couldn't take Uber/Lyft because she was not 18 & I'm her only family in the state. I never used this car up until this day which is why it didn't have insurance. KEEP IN MIND THIS IS MY UNCLES CAR. I know, dumb, but please don't bash me. Long story short, I hydroplaned on the highway, my car smashed into the concrete divider in the middle, then I got hit from behind and that car smashed into the divider. Both cars totaled. All of my airbags deployed. Police came. I was distraught & in so much pain. I told them I don't know what happened but I know I hydroplanned/lost control/spun out. I was very dismissive, limited and just wanted to go to the hospital. He asked me to verify my insurance , I called my uncle and he said there is no insurance because the car was not being used. Now the police goes to the lady & this lady tells them that I spun out in front of her and hit her. But I don't understand if I spun out IN FRONT OF YOU, how did I HIT YOU? Anywho, After further evaluation I realized this lady hit me. The passenger side of my car is fucked. Meanwhile the driver side is the side that slammed into the median. So how the hell is my passenger side GONE? & the diagram on the police report says while hydroplaning my car quickly cut in front hitting her front with my bumper. I Have absolutely no damage whatsoever on any sides or back bumper of my car at all, only the front is touched. The rest is cosmetically perfect. So THAT WAS A LIE. The police took her word over mine, gave me 2 citations, (failure to maintain lane & no insurance) & let her go with nothing. So the police report has me as at fault. Every attorney I've reached out to doesn't want to help since I'm considered at fault. Another police & attorney told me I'm at fault even if she hit me because I started the accident by hydroplaned Which made a chain reaction. I A lieutenant also told me the insurance company might just write it off after seeing that I have nothing for them to take.
SN: after doing some research I realized that the driver that listed on the police report is not the driver that was on the scene... they have 2 different names. what's up with that? Thank you ! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 May 2021 10:03 AM PDT Saint George Utah! In January 24th I was in an accident caused by a car doing an illegal U-turn. The driver of the opposing vehicle was driving on a suspended license not covered by his insurance and in a car that they owned but wasn't titled in their name. His wife was the policy holder and he wasn't covered with their policy. My car sat in a tow yard for about a week. I live 9 hours away from home and figured I would eventually ship it home to be fixed by the local shop my parents use frequently. One morning I got a call from my insurance agent telling me the car had to be moved that day and they would schedule towing to send it to a local shop in the area. They gave me a single option of shops I could take it to. They told me they recommended this shop because it was in network and it had the best reviews in the area. I looked up the shop and hesitantly said yes. 3 days later my car was moved 5 miles to the local shop. I was originally quoted almost $9,000 to repair the vehicle by one of their own appraisers. The price quickly jumped up to about $18,000 with all this added damage to the rear end of my vehicle which was odd because it was a front driver side impact. I talked to my insurance agent and his exact words were "if there was accident damage inflicted on the vehicle I would want the insurance to cover it". My insurance contemplated totaling the vehicle but the shop had already began work to the car and told insurance that it was almost done. When they called me to pick up the car I had a friend take me to the car to pick it up. While I was filling up the tank after picking it up I was walking around the car and noticed some damage that wasn't there before.
3 weeks later I get a call after constant back and forth with my insurance agent and the shop that my vehicle is ready to be picked up. I was told that mostly everything on my list of things couldn't be repaired by them. I picked up the car and took it home. A few days later I noticed my bumper started to sag and I could clearly see tape lines where the car was masked off and painted. The new paint on the car looked horrible lots of overspray and it wasn't smooth and it looked like it ran down the sides of the car. I talked to my Insurance agent and he recommended we change shops and bill them for any damage the new shop finds. I started driving my car home 9 hours away and the car was bouncing due to incorrect suspension issues and now I need new tires that are only 6500 miles old. My car was looked at by 3 different shops back home around the same quote without doing a tear down of the vehicle. About another $10,000 in damage including a $4000 charge for Honda required services post collision inspection and recalibration only available at Honda. I have been informed that my insurance isn't going to total the vehicle, unless they find something like major frame damage that will affect safety and longevity of the vehicle. Any recommendations? Posted: 01 May 2021 10:01 AM PDT So I accidentally hit a dumpster last night and really messed my car up. I drove it home and it's parked. I do have full coverage but idk what my best options are to get my car fixed. Do I just tell my insurance the truth? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 May 2021 08:09 AM PDT I just filed a claim for a leak in my roof they told me it would most likely be covered as a result from heavy rain….does anyone have an idea of the average cost of a deductible for this? My policy does not list deductible prices. Thank you [link] [comments] |
