Tesla Secures Rights to Mine Its Own Lithium in Nevada Posted: 29 Sep 2020 05:57 AM PDT Tesla (TSLA) - has secured its own lithium mining rights in Nevada after dropping a plan to buy a company there, taking the electric vehicle maker a step closer to its plan of mass-producing less-expensive batteries and being master of its own battery supply chain. Tesla's CEO Elon Musk told investors at the company's "Battery Day" event last week that Tesla has secured access to 10,000 acres of lithium-rich clay deposits in Nevada, and plans to use a new, "very sustainable way" of extracting the metal. Tesla's decision to make its own battery cells, and to enter production of battery cathodes and associated raw materials, is intended to add in-house capacity alongside deals with external suppliers as demand for electric vehicles continues to rise. Thanks for the awards. [link] [comments] |
Here is a Market Recap for today Tuesday, Sept 29. Please enjoy! Posted: 29 Sep 2020 01:32 PM PDT PsychoMarket Recap - Tuesday, September 29, 2020 Stocks traded choppily today, as traders considered a new stimulus proposal from lawmakers, the presidential debate this evening, and an increase in Covid-19 infections. Market action today highlights the extreme volatility of today's market. After a day of green yesterday, the major indices experienced several intraday reversals. The Dow (DIA) finished 0.53% down, the S&P 500 finished 0.5#% down as well, and the Nasdaq (QQQ) finished the day 0.45% down. The House Democrats recently announced a new $2.2 trillion stimulus package, offering a sliver of hope that Congress might take action to help buoy the pandemic-stricken economy before the November elections. There is still a large divide between the Democrats proposal and the $1-1.5 trillion that is estimated to be the Republicans cap. Many analysts and economists are skeptical that a deal will be passed, leaving potential for market disappointment. On a more positive front, Pelosi and Mnuchin are scheduled to hold a meeting to discuss economic relief. Let's hope they are able to work something out. This evening is the first of three presidential debates between Pres. Trump and Joe Biden in Cleveland, Ohio at 9pm ET. Last week the Commission on Presidential Debates announced that some topics set to be discussed are the "Trump and Biden's records, the Supreme Court, Covid-19, the economy, race and violence in our cities, the integrity of the election." Market participants will be closely watching each candidate's stance and agenda for dealing with the economy. Sadly, the pandemic's death toll has surpassed 200,000 in the United States, with 7.19 million people infected, according to data compiled by John Hopkins University. Today, the American Academy of Pediatrics announced that children and teenagers now make up 10% up cases in the US, up from 2% in April, a worrying increase. The Central for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported that "the incidence of COVID-19 in school-age children began rising in early September as many youngsters returned to their classrooms." How do you the the market will react to the debate that just ended? Posted: 29 Sep 2020 07:51 PM PDT My guess is the market will react neutral since I didn't hear/learn anything new from the candidates. But it was an odd performance by both and wonder how/if the market reacts one way or another. [link] [comments] |
A question about long vertical spreads. Posted: 29 Sep 2020 05:13 PM PDT Do you need to own an otm call option to sell in order to lower the total net cost, because if you need to purchase an otm call option to sell, wouldn't that have zero effect on the total net cost? [link] [comments] |
Stock market real time game? (aka simulator) Posted: 29 Sep 2020 04:34 PM PDT Im looking for a platform to practice stock trading on since I'm underage, any free websites/apps which follow the actual stock market and give updates to your "money"? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Sep 2020 06:25 PM PDT Spartan energy and fisker have agreed to do a reverse merger! not many people have been talking about this since August and July but it still looks like the merge will happen? If it does go through it's expected to go up about 200%? I'm unsure about this as there has been allot of negativity towards companies with no sales/ revenue because of the nikola disaster. Any thoughts on what might happen I'm really rooting for this to go through but you never know! [link] [comments] |
Yahoo finance stock recomendations Posted: 29 Sep 2020 03:25 PM PDT Pretty much everyday yahoo finance has at least one article about stocks that a certain analyst predicts will grow anywhere from 50 to 500%. And these are often from analysts at well respected banks. Even once an article was based on billionaire david shaws recent investments. So anyone ever tried one of the recomendations long term? Since the articles themselves never seem to affect the stock price, i am guessing they are very speculative and high risk high reward but ive never tried. [link] [comments] |

October reports: Ones that will exceed expectations Posted: 29 Sep 2020 03:17 PM PDT Lots of companies releasing quarterly reports in october. With covid making financial harder to predict, who do you think will exceed expectations? Im very sure UPS will have earnings significantly higher than projections. They have benefitted greatly from the pandemic and nothing the past quarter will have slowed that momentum. Fedex completely beat their expectations and I looking at UPS estimated earnings, looks to me like their moment has not been fully priced in yet. Everything Amazon does benefits covid. Cloud, online shopping and streaming. Their projected eps is a good amount lower than previous quarter and I cant think of anything justifying such a decrease. Semiconductor I find hard to analyze. Intel i am curious about. Their biggest revenue sources about 40% comes from Dell Lenovo and HP which have all had a good rally since the crash. Market is way too bearish on intel so the bar is set low. Tesla: I have no idea. Cannot wrap my head around them, too unpredictable. Hopefully they underperform so i can buy them cheap for long term. Any other? [link] [comments] |

Investing in Methane/LOX Suppliers Ahead of Future Starship Fleets? Posted: 29 Sep 2020 10:40 AM PDT |
Posted: 29 Sep 2020 01:56 PM PDT Two purchases: 10 Shares on 8/24 10 Shares on 9/8 I sold 15 shares today (9/28) I got a wash sale notification afterwards. I am confused as I thought a wash sale was if you bought and sold to show a loss for tax purposes but later rebought the shares. I haven't rebought and I don't own any of the same securities in different accounts (same broker). Thoughts? [link] [comments] |

Why does it say I bought it at a higher price then I did? Posted: 29 Sep 2020 12:45 PM PDT My TDAmeritrade account claims I bought a stock of Tesla (I'm holding it for the long run to see what happens) at $487 on my dashboard when my order history states I bought it at $417. Any thoughts? Anyone else have this issue when buying stocks through TDAmeritrade? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Sep 2020 12:40 PM PDT The had pull back about a month ago due to the release of their interactive Mirror, after acquiring said named stock . I think people didn't feel it could hold a candle to pelaton or the up and coming apple fitness plus and this resulted in shares decreasing in price. However, financials look pretty good considering. Their revenue is increasing year on year, the last trailing 12 months were higher than those if the past 5 years. And earnings per share is around $4.62. I Feel like there's still hope for Lululemon , despite some recent trepidation. Thought? [link] [comments] |

Could a Biden presidency lead to a further correction BECAUSE of another shutdown? Posted: 29 Sep 2020 05:45 PM PDT Everyone is concerned about how biden or trump could affect the stock market in various ways. A lot of the hype goes towards Biden's "promise" to increase corporate taxes etc. I dont know if this is being overlooked but the democratic party seems to support shut downs. Coronavirus cases increase on a daily basis. And democrats always complain about how trump is handling the virus. Just a hypothetical isn't there a higher chance that if Biden took office and pulled another shutdown, we could see a further correction (and a good buying opportunity)? [link] [comments] |
