Invitation for criticism; I am interested in building a Shipt or Instacart like business, but focusing on smaller orders and offering an express service for things like energy drinks, snack items, and other in demand immediate consumption items (think like a vending machine that delivers).

I am open to critics, and would like to test my business idea and improve it. I value all opinions on this, and thank you in advance for any feedback you provide.

Can someone recommend related business models I can study?

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 03:35 PM PDT

I've worked for my family's company my whole life. Going to be taking over soon and I'd like to change things up a little bit. I'd like for the owner, the hmfic, to be paid either an hourly rate or a salary, instead of seeing the company's profit as personal profit. Basically I'd like the business to be its own entity, keeping its own profits under its own "possession" and to be used 100% for either expanding the business or raising employee wages/benefits. Is this a normal business plan? Is there a name for either of these two business models? I'd like to learn more, but don't know where to start/what search terms to use.

    Car import businesses

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 10:16 AM PDT

How do people go about opening up a car import business? I've seen people who import them and sell them out their driveways, and I've seen businesses with full fledged warehouses that they sell out of? That seems like a dream to own a business like that and I want to know how to either start one up or what it's like to own one or something like that. Whenever I look things up I don't get anything on how to start it up.

When it’s a good idea to split up your small company?

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 07:49 AM PDT

I'm a specialty trade contractor in the home improvement sector in California. Service, repair and replace the items in our trade, been doing that for 5 years now. I've recently started to wholesale our product to other contractors and it's picking up rather quickly.

A few people have commented to split the company, but I just don't see a reason to do it. Does it make sense to split the wholesale part of the business or keep it under one business? When is it a good idea to do it? What is the main purpose for doing so?

My apologies if this isn't the right place for this type of concern, I couldn't find any other sub to ask.
