Amazon is already capable of offering same-day and one-day delivery to 72% of the total U.S. population, according to RBC Capital Markets.

The vast delivery network is a result of significant investments over the past four years.

Amazon said on its latest earnings report that it's making one-day delivery the default for Prime members.

Could the IPO boom indicate a long term market top is being made ?

    Posted: 05 May 2019 06:19 AM PDT

You know, from a contrarian point of view, investor sentiment etc. We see all these IPOs like Zoom, Lyft (still up from initial price), Beyond, up big time. Uber is coming and apparently has a lot of demand as well. Most make no money and people FOMO.

In addition, the RH crew is substantially increasing from what i can tell.

Lastly, even for the good companies, PEs are sort of high. And we see that based on fundamentals, Alphabet and even Amazon stumble upon ER (disregard that fact that again FOMO at least managed to propel AMZ higher anyway.

Could this be it, the perfect storm that is lulling everyone in, until it hits like a truck and we think back: Hindsight 10/10 ?

Tesla could go even higher than our $4,000 price target, says fund manager Cathie Wood

    Posted: 05 May 2019 03:27 AM PDT

    https://finance.yahoo.com/news/tesla-could-even-higher-4-210547063.html

    Talk about driving a strategy.

Ark Invest chief Catherine Wood is holding firm on her thesis on Tesla — which she believes could run to $4,000 a share or higher — telling CNBC's "ETF Edge" on Monday that her conviction in the company has actually increased since last year.

"It is our largest position ... and our conviction has increased in the last year or so," said Wood, who is founder, CEO and chief investment officer at Ark. "It's down about 29% this year. And it's always been our largest position this year, and yet our fund is up 28%."

Best sites for trading stocks for newbies and for pros

    Posted: 05 May 2019 07:47 AM PDT

Hi everyone, I have recently learned about stock and am interested in possibly trading it. I have seen people with tons of monitors selling stocks on YouTube and was wondering if you can do it all from just one computer. Also do you guys happen to know a nice website to get started selling stock. And once I get maybe a little better at it, is their a more statistical website with all the graphs and numbers, like I see the professionals using?

Technical Analysis v Price Action Trading | your opinion?

    Posted: 05 May 2019 11:48 AM PDT

I just wanted to hear some opinions on which, you think is better to use. Which is better to study and what is more reliable in today's market?

In the general aspect of price action, it seems as that would be more valuable in a market that is already so overvalued and good news being good news and bad news being good news.

Is technical analysis even reliable anymore?

Anyone have experience with: TIINGO API stock data 10$/month?

    Posted: 05 May 2019 01:16 PM PDT

I just came across TIINGO, which offers and end of a day stock price data API.

Which I found extremely cheap especially compared to Quandl and other well established API's.

Thus, I was wondering if someone already had experience with TIINGO.

    UTMA Check Help

    Posted: 05 May 2019 12:10 PM PDT

Long story short, I've been given a lot of shares from Pepsico that my grandpa gave to me when he passed when I was young. I'm now 23 and my dad and I decided it was time to withdraw the money and get me a car.

We received two checks. One was a UTMA with my dad as custodian, and the other was written to just my dad. We found a car and made a down payment, but the issue comes with the UTMA check. We can't deposit it into either of our accounts, and it's too late to open an account now.

Would Pepsico be able to rewrite the UTMA check so that my dad can deposit it into his account?

    Thanks in advance for help.

Anyone have any experience with E-Trade's 24-hour trading feature?

    Posted: 05 May 2019 10:59 AM PDT

I just found on E-Trade's site that some tickers are available for 24/5 trading beginning at 8pm Sunday. I would like to offload some of my VTI before the morning, however I have no idea what the price point should be.

Does the E-Trade after-hours feature show current, after-hours quotes, or is it just the Friday's close? How would I know where to set my limit price?

Any other info on this feature would be greatly appreciated.

    Green/Clean Energy stocks/ETF's?

    Posted: 04 May 2019 08:43 PM PDT

Im looking to put a section into my m1 portfolio for some green energy companies/stocks (Ideally ones that have a decent dividend, as my portfolio is aimed at dividend growth investing).

I have an ETF's section and also plan on having a section for Clean/Green energy companies (My individual sections have 3-5 stocks per section so I don't lose track, so less than 5 ideally).

What are the good ones out there to watch? (If there ARE indeed ETF's i'll probably just add one or two max to my other ETF's section of my portfolio, which compromises about 50% of my portfolio).

    Thanks!

With E3 coming soon, and the game-releasing season shortly afterwards, is it a good idea to invest in companies like EA, Sony, Take-Two, CD Projekt now?

    Posted: 05 May 2019 09:21 AM PDT

I can imagine that if one of these companies release info about an anticipated game (EA's Star Wars game, The Last of Us 2 for Sony, and CDPR's Cyberpunk 2077) their value will increase, and even more so if their sales numbers prove to be good in the fall. If this is indeed a good investing opportunity, which specific stock(s) should I buy?

    ETF's to Diversify

    Posted: 04 May 2019 11:05 PM PDT

I'm already 1500 in on the stock market, but I'm looking to an invest an additional 5000 into ETF's, I'm 19 so I've got a lot of time for growth. I'm currently thinking about putting money into these 4:

    ICLN

    SCHB

    MJ

    VHT

So a bit of diversification, but I wanted the subs thoughts on whether this sounded like a good plan and maybe how much I should put into each one of those. Appreciate it!

BUY US CENTRIC STOCKS, pretty clear China is going to have to come to table eventually

    Posted: 05 May 2019 09:47 AM PDT

they got by for decades on a fraud business model

US STEEL/X should benefit and the US Economy looks good. Buy US consumer defensive stocks at low PEs. Like MO/CVS, etc

has nothing to do with "Trade negotiations" and negatives have been priced in. Also, watch out for permabear troll losers who trash trump or your us centric stock online. If anything will benefit from the product inflation margin or will actually help US manufacturers and their stocks

if you're a NWO investor of course you are butthurt when Trump does the right thing.

    Backtesting with dividends

    Posted: 05 May 2019 03:24 AM PDT

Is there a way to backtest and get a total of the dividends that would have been paid out?

I understand I can do this manually in excel, but can it be done with actual data? I'm interested in backtesting a stock with an inconsistent payout history.

I'm new to backtesting and I'm curios about it and have yet to find an answer.

    Leveraged Index Fund ETFs

    Posted: 04 May 2019 05:49 PM PDT

I am young and making a lot of money, so I want to plow it into the best possible long term investments to generate real wealth. Right now my tax advantaged and taxable accounts are 100% stock market index funds at a 65/35 US/international split. My current investing philosophy is that on my 30+ year time scale stocks will return 6 or 7% above inflation and that buying and holding low cost index funds is my best option. I've recently started looking at leveraged etfs as a way to increase my exposure to short term risk in favor of higher long term returns

I've read a million posts about "volatility drag" and "loss compounding" and I think they're bullshit. I believe in the long term growth of index funds and that I have a longer time horizon than almost any other investor. I do not believe that I can out-predict the market, and that short term fluctuations are effectively random. I also found a dataset with over a hundred years of monthly S&P returns, so I'll just be showing my work on monthly funds

My long term model for returns is

    [;\prod_{i=1}^{N}(x_{i} + 1);]

where N is the number of months I hold for, and [;x_{i};] is a time series with E([;x_{i};]) > 0 and V([;x_{i};]) = [;\varepsilon_{i};]. With a 3x leveraged fund this would become

    [;\prod_{i=1}^{N}(3*x_{i} + 1);]

Now these products are ugly, so I'll take the log before I compute the expected values, leaving me with sums which I can compare individually. I don't think this will break anything because the order of [;x_{i};]s doesn't matter. [https://stats.stackexchange.com/questions/38296/expected-value-of-a-natural-logarithm](This link) was helpful for finding the expected values

    So now I'm comparing

    [;log(1+E\[x_{i}])-\frac{V[x_{i}]}{2*(1+E[x_{i}])^{2}};]

    and

    [;log(1+3E\[x_{i}])-\frac{9V[x_{i}]}{2*(1+3E[x_{i}])^{2}};]

and clearly I can plug in historic values for E([;x_{i};]) and V([;x_{i};]) to find the leverage that maximizes my expected value.

I also backtested this on rolling intervals with my monthly s&p data and am including the results below. The y axis is annualized returns, the x axis is number of months in the rolling intervals, and the two bands are 1x and 3x leveraged 90% confidence intervals. As you can see, on long time scales leveraged etfs look great.

Am I missing something here? Leveraged ETFs seem like a fantastic long term investing option, which is the opposite of what all the articles introducing them say.

I am still working out what I believe the optimal level of leverage is, and how I feel about monthly vs daily re-balancing. If anyone has input/ideas/heuristics I'd love to hear them

Personal context: I'm in my 20s, living in The midwest, and am making ~80k a year. I am maxing out my IRA and 401k, and on pace to save a few thousand more in my taxable account.

tldr; I want to buy and hold leveraged index funds, it doesn't seem THAT risky in the short term and it seems pretty safe in the long run
