How to answer "how did you get my number?" Posted: 03 Dec 2018 03:26 AM PST As many of you know, there are quite a few tools available these days to obtain prospects' contact information, including personal mobile numbers. The prospect's info wasn't on any kind of list, per se, but was extracted from LinkedIn using one of such tools. While this is becoming a familiar concept to those of us in Sales, prospects would have no idea that such tools exist. And it would be quite odd if we told them the whole truth, "My company pays several thousand dollars per month so that their sales team can have access to the direct contact information for persons of interest." I doubt anybody would like hearing that. With that said, how would you answer the question "how did you get my number?" in this, or any case? [link] [comments] |
Asked To Present A Demo Back After Their Presentation Of A Product. How should I Approach this? Posted: 03 Dec 2018 09:27 AM PST Hello guys, Learned a ton in this subreddit but could not find information about an interview where you need to re-demo their product. So the situation is simple, I will be invited to the 2nd round of interview and they will present their software with the demo and during it, I would be able to ask as many questions as I possibly want. Then I will be invited to the 3rd round of interview to make a 30 minutes demo back to them. The company operates in the software field and provides a pipe to the data warehouse that was made for data analysts to gather the data faster and in a more efficient manner. What questions should I ask them during their demo and how to best approach the mock demo during my presentation? [link] [comments] |
We’re hiring commission based sales folks...but have questions. Posted: 03 Dec 2018 11:22 AM PST Like the title mentions, I'm looking to hire commission based sales folks but have questions:

Posted: 03 Dec 2018 07:27 AM PST To give you an example of a good day where I'm still a bit unmotivated; Wake up, youtube some sort of leader or motivational speaker, workout a bit and get ready. At this moment I'm thinking "Who the hell was I yesterday? I'm not charismatic like that, I'm the shy guy who hates standing in line at chipotle." However once I'm out, make my first call, I do extremely well and it feels great. From there I'm still having fear, but I enjoy the feeling. It's almost like when you're a kid at the pool, going up to the higher diving board to keep jumping. What I hate is that I just can't break out of the mental state UNTIL I'm working, better yet, why can't I be this guy normally?(Chipotle line.) [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Dec 2018 12:56 AM PST Got the sack as the market is very competitive, my sales techniques needs tweeting and I had no support from my boss or coworkers . Should I go back to being an IT Admin or keep learning and get another sales job ? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Dec 2018 12:49 PM PST Any tips? Im taking my last test of college Wednesday then heading to the interview, it's going to be selling loans to small business's or something along those lines. Got the chance through a friend and have always wanted to do sales, help me lock it in. I already spoke with hiring manager over the phone, and am meeting with the VP of sales and one of the directors so it should be fun. Also any general stuff I should know about working in sales before I jump in right out of school would be great, thanks 🙏🏻 [link] [comments] |
Best books to read before starting first sales job (SaaS) Posted: 02 Dec 2018 04:54 PM PST Just graduated college and got a job at a SaaS company in Denver. Don't have previous sales experience (but have four years of ad agency experience which is how I got the job) Wondering what books I should read in my month before hiring just to know some of the slang and valuable sales concepts? I just read SPIN and am currently reading fanatical prospecting [link] [comments] |
2 Tech founders looking for a skilled sales person for b2b saas startup. Posted: 03 Dec 2018 12:12 PM PST Hi All, My fellow co-founder and I have created a viable market product with paying customers. We've bootstrapped this thing from the ground up and put in a hell of a lot of work for the past 18 mos. We just don't have the chops for sales and trust me, we've tried. One thing that we've learned is to know our limitations and get skilled help where you need it most. We are looking for a female preferably just because our product caters to a market that is dominated by women. That doesn't mean we'd consider a male, we just believe that a female would do much better with our clientele. Here's the catch. We definitely can't afford to pay a full-time salary. We could definitely do an equity + commission structure. We are currently using the 'slicing pie' method to divy up equity between our current team. It's working pretty well. We'd be happy to discuss how to make this work if you feel like you could make an impact. For us, this is just a stab in the dark, but if you think you might be interested, please PM me and I'll be happy to tell you more about our company and our product. If you aren't interested, I get it, and appreciate you taking a few minutes to read this. Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Have you participated in or completed the AT&T Business to Business Sales Program? Posted: 03 Dec 2018 12:04 PM PST I've been selected for an interview for AT&T's B2B Sales program. I have five years of sales management and financial sales experience, and have been out of college for a year and a half. The opportunity and process to this point seems sketchy for a Fortune 50 firm. All that's really shown online is that you go to the Dallas HQ and are trained on how to sell their systems and products to businesses. There are very few reviews on the program and the ones that exist are years old and terrible reviews. One of them in particular was a program attendee who graduated his home office training and claims he couldn't find a job for three months after relocating to Atlanta, which leaves me wondering, how? Are you not employed by AT&T upon program completion? Is the program a legitimate opportunity with the firm? Has anyone completed or attended this program recently and have feedback on it? What is the pay like? I'd be leaving a $85,000 per year job in a low cost of living metro in the South, so I'd want the opportunity to earn similar. I can't imagine anything at AT&T being so secretive and odd, so I'm perplexed but it seems like it would be a great opportunity if there were more people openly sharing their experiences. Any suggestions for a career after sales? Posted: 03 Dec 2018 10:10 AM PST A little background on me, I graduated from Florida State a few years ago with a degree in professional sales. Now that I've actually been in the field for a few years I'm afraid it's just not a good fit for me. I started out in college selling furniture and then I transitioned to heavy equipment rental and just recently construction staffing sales. There are parts of outside sales I really enjoy such as the autonomy and setting your own schedule. However I just feel I'm getting burned out and really lost my motivation this past year. All of the no shows, and cancellations, and clients not paying is really getting to me and I'm pretty much miserable day in and day out. I've considered almost every sales avenue I can think of but none of them sound appealing any longer. Are there any positions anyone could suggest outside of the sales industry that pay at least $40-$50k that may be a good fit for me? Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |
What type of Sales is the best to start in? Posted: 03 Dec 2018 10:04 AM PST Back Story: I realize fully that this is an extremely open ended question and apologize for the broadness. I am a Junior in college and will be graduating with a major in Marketing and a minor in Professional Sales. I'm looking to get into sales as I have really enjoyed my previous jobs of sales and excelled at those positions. Also, I really like the concept of having to continuously better myself so that I will remain relevant in a high paced environment. Question: Currently I am interested in Pharmaceutical Sales as I've always had an interested in the medical field. However, I see all these posts of IT Sales, insurance and the countless others that circulate the subreddit and I'm just looking to get information from others that undoubtedly have more experience than I. 24 Year Old Graduate Needs Advise on Starting Sales Career Posted: 03 Dec 2018 10:00 AM PST Good Afternoon Guys, Just need some advice on how I can start a successful sales career. I am a Graduate in the UK with a good degree from a good university. The reason I want to go into sales is because I am extremely attracted to have the ability to control my own income. I am also believe that most traditional jobs are disappearing and the world will always need sales people even if most other jobs are automated. My problem is at the minute, I feel extremely intimidated by the thought of going into sales. I have very little knowledge of the area and even less experience. I know that it is what I want to do, but I honestly have no idea how to get started. Even worse, there is so much information out there, I don't know what to listen to and what to ignore. I have a few questions that I hope you can help me with; 1) What area of Sales do you recommend I start with. There are plenty of Sales jobs going in my city, but they range from everything from car dealer to telesales to pharmaceutical account managers. What 1st job would give me a good grounding? Im not too picky. 2) What are some good materials that I can start with (e.g. books/online courses) I can see plenty of books recommended, but I kind of just want to pick 1/2 methods that work and go really deep with them instead of scratching the surface of 10 methods. 3) Who are some good online guys to listen to? I have listened a lot to Grant Cardone, but people here don't seem to like him. 4) Would you say that sales is a good career choice for someone in my position? (e.g. Young, Well Educated but struggling to land a good job, Hungry for success but can't decide how to go about getting it) Thanks for any advice you can give :) [link] [comments] |
When job hunting - How do you prove your #’s? Posted: 03 Dec 2018 09:56 AM PST Hey everyone - Casually looking for a new place that will value what I've done in sales. This year so far, I have closed $2.1m. How do you actually prove these numbers? Is an export from the CRM fine? [link] [comments] |
In need of appointment setting solution Posted: 03 Dec 2018 08:59 AM PST So right now my company uses google calendar to schedule our demos. To me, it doesn't matter what we use. To the clients it does. Our clients flake on demos over 50% of the time. 90% don't check the calendar invite until we are calling in for the demo. Is there a solution out there that will integrate with google calendar but also communicate with our client via text, their preferred medium? How does everyone else combat this situation? Posted: 03 Dec 2018 01:03 AM PST Hello, I was asked to make regular assessments of the company's sales promotion (Discounts) & I have no priors in this field! I work with a FMCG that sells directly to distributors. I've looked on the web but there is simply too much information. If you happen to perform a similar task at your job, I'd really like to get an insight about how all this works. Thank you [link] [comments] |
My company was just acquired by a larger company - what does that mean for me? Posted: 03 Dec 2018 07:53 AM PST I'm an outside sales rep in software sales. My company was just bought out by a larger company. Allegedly, we all still have our jobs and they want to introduce our software into their current offerings. Our offerings are pretty different from each other. My fears come from the question about if my salary/commission will be significantly changed (being with a smaller company I had A LOT of perks). I'm worried about other sales reps taking over my territory (I currently handle 13 states). With us being acquired, I realize it could be a very good thing or a very terrible thing for me, personally. I've been pretty good at my job, hitting above quota for the year - if that means anything at this point. Has anyone experienced this before? How did it turn out for you? [link] [comments] |
Commission Question - Electric Motor Sales Posted: 03 Dec 2018 07:38 AM PST Hey friends! So after some job searching I have recently started working for an electric motor manufacture as a regional sales manager. I am paid $35,000 a year salary and was told my commission structure would depend on my performance and would be discussed after 3 months of training. The owner of the company speculated I would make between $50-65k my first year meaning I will need to do $2-3 million in sales to hit that. Well, I am 6 weeks in and the owner is very happy with how fast I am learning and the fact that I have already made $20k or so in sales before I was expected to make any. So we had our 3 month review early and I was told that I will make 1% commission on all new accounts I bring in and .5% on some existing accounts that will be given to me. Our monthly revenue has been steadily growing over the years and looks like this year will average $110k per month. We have one full time inside sales person and work with a 2-3 sales reps that rep a variety of brands. This commission percentage seems quite low to me, but maybe I am spoiled as I have worked for myself for the 4 years leading up to this and am used to 100% commission. Is this commission percentage reasonable? Or am I being taken advantage of? Doing the math, I would need to double our companies revenue to reach the bottom end of my expected earnings. How do you scope out competition? Posted: 03 Dec 2018 07:28 AM PST Hey guys what's everyone doing here when it comes to learning about your competitors? Going on their website and reading about them is fine but how do you manage to learn of their product features, functionality, and pricing? [link] [comments] |
Part time job, how to price myself... Posted: 03 Dec 2018 07:18 AM PST I am looking at a position that I would be doing part time, I am thinking around 10 hours a week, to do alongside my current role. I originally said I would be looking for around 70k for a full time job (40 hrs). Should I quarter this and give that as my desired package, or work out an hourly freelance style wage? Posted: 03 Dec 2018 05:24 AM PST I know that personal training isn't really thought of as a traditional sales job, however I'm starting my first one soon and the personal training subreddit is pretty dead so I thought I'd ask here. The job has a base salary for 3 months and then transitions to 100% commission the gym itself doesn't do much to get you clients and you essentially have to prospect them off the floor. My question is where do I begin? It's hard for me to think of how I'd sell it since putting myself in the customers position is difficult. I've gained education and different certifications in fitness so I would never feel the need to pay a trainer and I would certainly be annoyed if someone interrupted my workout to try and make a sale. With this in mind I feel stuck in how to approach this, I understand my situation is less common than the average gym goer who just wants to lose some weight. My question then I guess is what should I be reading/watching/practicing in preparation for this TL;DR starting a col approach sales job what resources will help Thanks [link] [comments] |
Looking to break away from marketing companies Posted: 03 Dec 2018 04:55 AM PST I was interested in a job in sales and one was advertising with no experience needed selling raffle tickets for deaf services and the national paralympians. Needless to say I jumped at it and spent 2 months there before getting offered a better position but with another marketing firm. I feel like there is still some learning to be had here because at the end of the day its face to face sales, but for a charity (heart foundation). But this isn't what I wanted, and I am not a huge fan of how it is all structured. Would product sales be a better place to learn, or in retail selling vacuum cleaners or something like that. And how long should I spend learning the ropes before trying to move on to experienced sales positions? [link] [comments] |
Best wireless headset for sales Posted: 03 Dec 2018 02:15 AM PST Hello, Very technical question here: what would be the best possible headset I could buy taking in consideration the following? - I work in an open space and want to be isolated from it when I make a phone call - The headset needs to be wireless - The purpose is only to make calls, so the clarity of the microphone must be great. - We use Swyxlt at work now. We will change for Skype. The headset must be compatible with windows and these software. Many thanks. [link] [comments] |
How do you deal with people who are hard to hear on a call? Posted: 02 Dec 2018 04:39 PM PST Very occasionally it happens on a one to one call; more frequently when there are multiple parties involved. Seems like a lot of organisations, at least the ones I sell in to, are not really set up for teleconferencing at all and resort to ridiculous shit like having a group of 5 dial in from one office with one mobile on speaker mode. Background noise, some people being way louder than others, seems like the lady with the thick accent always positions herself as far away from the audio input as possible but is also a respected and informed potential user of the product with many questions, etc. Just looking to see if there's a better way than saying "could you please repeat that" over and over every time that person says something.

Taking a holiday break in sales? Posted: 02 Dec 2018 01:41 PM PST Hi all, I'm an enterprise BDR for a SaaS start up. To give some context, I've been the only BDR to hit every quarterly quota this year, I've also taken 1 day off this year, no sick leave either (to watch the Football World Cup final). I recently put in a request for leave, from the 15th of December to the 4th of Jan. My manager pulled me aside and basically said "you can't take that leave, you have to hit your target or stay until Christmas". I can empathise with his viewpoint, he wants to hit his target too, but my understanding is, I can take leave whenever I want (within reason). Especially Christmas. Am I in the wrong? Or should I stand ground and take my leave? [link] [comments] |
