Car flooded to door, what to do?

    Posted: 01 Sep 2018 04:23 PM PDT

My street flooded today after a flash storm and here is what my car looked like after it started going down a bit. This isn't the peak height it got to, but you can see how high it did get. Up past the point where water would start to get in from the doorline.

    https://imgur.com/a/Qr1qkC0

Once it was down far enough and the water was mostly gone, I started the car and backed out of there. Maybe that was a bad idea.

I noticed some water did get into the inside of the car. All on the floor and I scooped it out. Probably around 80-100 ounces of water (I scooped it out with a water bottle...it was tinged yellow).

I would love to salvage the car, but what should I do? The puddled water is mostly gone but it's soaked to the touch on the inside floor.

Should I take it to a car shop for them to determine? Like I said, I would love to just make sure my car works and doesn't stink, but also don't want to run into issues (electrical, etc.) down the line.

    Thanks!

    Car insurance

    Posted: 01 Sep 2018 07:33 PM PDT

    I'm in Michigan.

If my sister were to put my car on a new insurance policy, would she be able to switch it into my name eventually?

I have a feeling the most common answer will be to ask the insurance company (we're leaning towards progressive) and see if they'll allow it, but I figured I'd see if anyone here knew anything! Thanks!

Edit: I'm not doing it because of anything I did. I'm getting my license on Wednesday and I want to just get my car registered as soon as possible so the plates on it can go back to my ex. (I have my permit and she doesn't want the car because she doesn't know how to drive it, plus it's been my car from the get go).

    Posted: 01 Sep 2018 09:45 AM PDT

I canceled my geico insurance on my 2015 nissan altima because I wont be driving it until january of 2019. I have another insured car with statefarm that I will be driving. When i talked to geico on the phone, they told me i need to go to the DMV about my license plates. What would they want? do i have to pay for anything? will i have to pay for tax for the car anyway?

    Auto Accident Help

    Posted: 01 Sep 2018 04:21 PM PDT

My wife and I live in NC, and we are both listed drivers on our auto insurance policy for the vehicle that we own. Yesterday, my wife was driving and I was the passenger, there was some debris in the road and she swerved to avoid it and ended up hitting the ditch pretty hard. I went to the ER to get checked out as I have had prior neck surgery just over a year ago and wanted to make sure nothing came loose. How will our auto insurance handle this? If I need physical therapy or anything am I just screwed since even though it was my wife driving we share the same policy? I am the policy holder and my wife is listed as an "additional driver". If it helps, I'm including the declarations page with my wife and my name and the car vin numbers marked out. Thanks!

    Life insurance- help!

    Posted: 01 Sep 2018 07:54 PM PDT

How do I submit a group life insurance conversion appeal?? What to say??

Details IF you'd like: I am one of those people who gets overwhelmed to the point of panic and self harm so just AVOID whatever is overwhelming me. Good news is that I'm making some changes and progress. For example I recently got a new job that is still challenging but less intensely stressful. I have been exercising more and have a boyfriend who tries hard to make me feel good about myself. I finally sorta understand some medical insurance and got that sorted out. And now I turn to my paperwork about group life insurance from my previous job. I guess you are supposed to convert it to an individual policy within 31 days? Well I am 90 days too late... Apparently I can submit an appeal and fax in a sheet? What is an appropriate appeal that will get approved, rather than "I'm sorry I fail at life"? Okay this is getting overwhelming I am just going to hit post without panicking. Thank you for any help!

    UK life insurance queries

    Posted: 01 Sep 2018 03:54 PM PDT

I appreciate that different providers will likely have different policies regarding paying out when suicide is the cause of death and that most will require you to hold a policy for a relatively long period of time to prevent people acting in the heat of the moment. Is there any danger of raising alarm bells or being rejected for a policy for inquiring about policies regarding death by suicide?

    Progressive Snapshot

    Posted: 01 Sep 2018 02:05 PM PDT

Want to get the snapshot app to lower my monthly insurance. Problem is most of the time I'm driving my company car (commuting/errands), and only drive my personal car for the rare nights I want to go out. My question is, would I be able to get the snapshot app on my personal phone (as I'm mostly on my company cellphone) and only take it with me while I'm driving my personal car? Would it look bad if I just leave my phone at home during the days I'm not driving my personal car? I don't want to get the car device as I heard bad things about it.

    Gas Station Disaster

    Posted: 01 Sep 2018 12:08 PM PDT

Hello I am in need of help for my situation & make sure I don't get screwed over.

I was parked in my local gas station when the person next to me started to reverse; instead of reversing straight out, The person started to turn their wheel onto my side. As I see this I honk at them to stop but kept going. Hitting my driver side fender & scraping it with their paint. I get out, we exchange information I called my insurance & filed a claim (TX Allstate). In which I was informed the other person filed one after he left. What will most likely be the outcome? I got pics & video of when he hit me. I just wanna make sure my car gets taken care of.

    MI Auto insurance help

    Posted: 01 Sep 2018 12:04 PM PDT

    Hi all,

Im trying to save a sinking ship, in march i Was living in another state, bought a 2017 Versa, and was fine with my payments and auto insurance at the time, i paid 130/mo for the versa and a SUV i had

In May i moved to MI, and got taken with a sandpaper condom, and had to sell the SUV because the cheapest insurance i could find was 300/mo.

Once i changed employers i got co-ordinating medical and started re-quoting and found 220/mo, but honestly i need to be in the 150-175 range at the most, this is insanity.

About me: 31, male, single, no accidents/claims and one speeding ticket in 2014.

What can i do to get the monthly down to around 150? Marriage is in the future, the speeding ticket should fall the rest of the way off soon, but those 2 things cant be driving it up so high.

I am ahead on my car note, and am not opposed to selling the versa to buy something a year or two older as long as i can get some thing with a warranty.

Any other options i have? Any good recommendations on how to shop around better because there is not nearly as much competition as im used to?

Does anyone have clearcover insurance? What has been your experience?

    Posted: 01 Sep 2018 10:39 AM PDT

I am thinking of switching from Esurance. Clearcover gave me a quote of about $500 savings for the year. But they are newish, they sound fine but how are they if you need them? Also does anyone know any good deals on insurance? I live in CA, if that helps.

Got into minor car accident for the first time, looking for tips

    Posted: 01 Sep 2018 07:45 AM PDT

So basically I was driving back from school and while going straight a car pulled up in front of me without stopping or looking so I tried to stop while going 55km/h and i still rear ended the person's car

No big damage on my car but her's back bumper completely fell off and she started blaming everything on me while I tried to stay calm. We both exchanged our informations and left after.

So now she texted me saying that she needs a picture of my driving license again with my insurance policy number which is asked by her insurance company. Is this how it works ? And what should I look out for ?

    Thanks in advance!

Ps. It happened in Montreal, Quebec, Canada

    Can I get health insurance?

    Posted: 01 Sep 2018 07:11 AM PDT

Hi guys, I appreciate you taking the time to read this. I am an oilfield consultant, 30 year old male, and have for the most part been relatively healthy most of my life. No surgeries, just a few broken bones, concussion, etc.

I make great money, but current job does not offer insurance because I am one of just a few employees. I chose not to get insurance because it's $600 a month (BCBS, cheapest plan, with a $10k deductible) and highly unlikely I would ever hit the deductible. I'd rather pay a couple hundred out of pocket for antibiotics and an office visit for the 1-2 times a year I get sick.

Lately I've been having major nuero problems and went to a neurologist who determined I had sustained clonus. This prompted him to send me off for brain and neck MRI's with contrast. Through the MRI's he determined that I need neck and spine surgery ASAP for cervical myelopathy. Do I have any options for getting insurance given my new situation? What would be my best route for addressing this?

I can pay cash but it would be a lump to the head- I closed on a new house the day I found out I needed the surgery, and with the post op checkups, etc. I would probably be better off getting insured.

Previously I have always had company-provided insurance so I am clueless as how to best move forward. Any advice is appreciated. I am in Texas; if that helps.

    Car Insurance Question

    Posted: 31 Aug 2018 09:16 PM PDT

    Hey!

So I recently bought a new car and my insurance rates have gone across the roof. The car is under my name. Previously, I was the secondary driver on my dads car and the insurance was low. Now my question is, am I allowed to be the secondary driver under my car and my dad being the main driver? I heard that would bring my insurance down. I have a couple friends who have done it, they just never tell the company that they OWN the car. Is this illegal? Or just a loophole? Please let me know.

Auto Total Loss, Low balling ACV

    Posted: 01 Sep 2018 04:12 AM PDT

(Calif) Vehicle legally parked & hit in rear sheered driver side leaf spring brackets off. (not drive-able ) Adjuster had me get a rental vehicle & said she would reimburse me. Question, When valuating a Total Loss for ACV Payout, how can insurance companies get away with using vehicles that are a lessor grade & body style ( for example F150, XLT rather than Lariat best grade ) & way higher miles, then adjust the number in their favor to come up with lower value. Using 3rd party CCC. btw.. Its all over the internet CCC has been sued for colluding with insurance companies https://www.insurancejournal.com/news/midwest/2005/07/15/57309.htm " Use us we will save you lot of money " Seems like that is classic " Bad Faith negotiations " I provided (available same time as their search) 2 vehicles that are the correct same body style and mileage close within 10k. Adjuster is a broken record seems to be reading from the Insurance playbook. They also are not considering enhancements, Oem 20" Rims & Tires, HID headlights, rebuilt transmission with only 8000 miles on it. Insurance at fault is Bridger Ins. They using Sedgwick/Vericlaims as Adjuster. Its been over 45 days since accident & they cut my rental vehicle and won't reimburse me till the claim is complete. She never disclosed I would need to wait ( could be 40+ more days ) for reimbursement & my deducible. I opened a claim with my insurance co. They aren't much better same tactics. Would making a complaint to the Calif Insurance commission benefit me or just a waste of time ? TIA
