Posted: 08 May 2018 10:52 AM PDT Hey r/sales, started a new position in January (Employee Benefit sales) and took me a long time to get trained, but after about a month on the phones, just closed my first deal this morning! Did a lot of reading here on lunches and breaks because it's pretty different from my D2D sales background. So thanks for all the comments and posts that people have submitted giving great advice, I'll keep reading and learning! [link] [comments] |
Pros and Cons of this kind of performance commision / Bonus? What to expect in the future? Posted: 08 May 2018 11:17 AM PDT Hey everyone, So I received a job offer with this variable performance commision / bonus for a job bringing in new business and managing those accounts brought in: Variable bonus system that you can get on a quarterly basis: Q1 : 8% of the total internal revenue you generate. Q2: 8% of the additional internal revenue you generate vs Q1 Q3: 8% of the additional internal revenue you generate vs Q2. Q4: 8% of the additional internal revenue you generate vs Q3. This is rather different from what I have had before and it seems a little odd at first. Like if I had a really good quarter, I would be shooting myself in the foot for the next one? Because I would have to generate even more revenue on top of what I had done previously. Also, at some point account management will take up more time than sales and so the additional revenue becomes harder to reach. Any info on what to exepect for this would be great. If it helps, the base salary they offered covers about 65% of what I am aiming for. Edit: Formatting [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 May 2018 04:21 AM PDT Just did an interview where I wasn't successful but thought I'd share my experience as you may get caught out like I did. Group interview Street face to face sales, informal group chat at first followed by the paperclip challenge. For those that don't know you stop people in the street start with a paperclip and swap your way to whatever you end up with. Now I thought it would be about making the close with as many people as you can. Having swapped from a paperclip to a trolley token to train tickets from Amsterdam to a French calendar I thought the job was in the bag. Turns out the challenge was more to see how long you can keep a conversation with one person rather then the trades you close. So if your presented with a challenge like this it's not about quantity, which is my exact opposite experience in the sales world. [link] [comments] |
Commercial Vehicle Sales, what am I in for? Posted: 08 May 2018 08:57 AM PDT Hi there! I'm interviewing for a position in sales, selling commercial vehicles and medium duty truck equipment for a very high-volume dealership in Texas. I'm new to the industry, I just got out of school and have zero hands-on sales experience, but have pretty good product knowledge and I'm extremely competitive. What should I expect the general environment to be like for a position like this in terms of pay, coworkers, clientele, etc. I've obviously never built a client base, so any tips on doing that successfully are also appreciated! The position is purely commission based, and I'm told it can be very lucrative for someone my age. Thanks for your help! [link] [comments] |
Where did the post on automated LinkedIn sales go? Posted: 08 May 2018 06:37 AM PDT Hi, Pretty new to this reddit, so maybe I did something wrong... But I was just reading a post on how to generate leads through your LinkedIn profile when it just "vanished". Can anybody help me out with a link or smth? Thanx! [link] [comments] |
Moving in June, looking to hit the ground running in sales. Advice appreciated! Posted: 08 May 2018 12:32 PM PDT Hello r/sales! I am seeking advice on the steps I should take to enter and rise in the ranks of any sales job! I am 18 years old, moving with my parents to Minneapolis, MN. I have been interested in the running my own business and/or driving sales, that type of stuff actually interests me! What are some starter jobs or opportunities I should be looking out for? Any other advice? [link] [comments] |
good ways to target people without cars? Posted: 08 May 2018 11:55 AM PDT I'm currently selling a program that basically lets people rent a car for Uber and Lyft, and after they complete a number of rides get $300 towards a down payment to buy the car. So they essentially get a source of income and a car at the same time. My question- WHat are some good ways to target people who don't have a car, and would like one? [link] [comments] |
Started new position, don’t like it, looking for new company, what should I put in my resume? Posted: 08 May 2018 11:20 AM PDT I originally left my previous SaaS Company that I had worked for over 2 years and started a new job at a telecom company with the same sales position. I got recruited and offered a higher base and better commission structure, which I decided to take. I had great sales numbers in the SaaS Company and I have now been in the telecom company for almost 3 months (which included a three week training. I now realize that the company culture is not one I enjoy being in and the product is something that I do not enjoy selling. I have stayed this long because I wanted to give it my 110%, but I'm honestly over it. I'm now applying to other SaaS companies and even looking at places in different states and willing to move. My question: What should I put in my resume in this three month period? Should I leave it blank? Should I put this as my job? I don't want to be seen as someone who goes from job to job. I also have my current company on my LinkedIn, since I connect with potential clients via LinkedIn. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 May 2018 11:19 AM PDT What does your prospecting schedule look like does it change day to day? Honestly do you ever have days where you just don't prospect? [link] [comments] |
Online/In Person Sales Tutors/Coaches Posted: 08 May 2018 11:19 AM PDT I've been out of work and traveling for the past 9 months, and now I am waiting for a working visa. While I am waiting to work for a company I have entertained the thought of becoming a sales coach/tutor, whether it be online or in person. I have experience working for multiple companies training and coaching sales with a high level of success. There is no doubt in my mind I will succeed at this, I'm more worried about finding people who need coaching. Is this something any of you would search for? To find someone who can like a language tutor come to your home and help you with your sales. Would you be more willing to do this online? I have seen lots of websites for online tutors. The market is full of them. Does anyone here have any experience with some of these websites - and tutoring or learning on them? Some sites I was considering tutoring on - Buddyschool Skillshare Helphub Like I said there are so many.... I just don't know which would be best for me. Thank you so much. [link] [comments] |
How Useful Would You Find An Auto-Prospecting Tool? Posted: 08 May 2018 11:09 AM PDT Hello salespeople. I am a fellow salesperson that makes apps on the side and currently have a project in the ideation stage that I want to get your feedback on. How useful would you find a tool where you enter the types of accounts you want (size, industry, location, etc.) and the titles you want to go after and it automatically generates a number of accounts in Salesforce/Salesloft for you, pulling from whatever info tools you subscribe to (Rainking, Zoominfo, DiscoverOrg, etc.) Does anyone already use something like this or is everyone doing it manually right now? Would this be something you could see your company buying? For B2B tech sales this would likely help those in the SDR role the most. Thank you for your thoughts. [link] [comments] |
Salespeople that are really good at social media, what is your schedule/posting routine? Posted: 08 May 2018 07:20 AM PDT Looking to get big into social Media, wanting to get a "schedule" for posting. Any protips? Auto sales [link] [comments] |
1st SDR at a Startup: Concerned about new SDRs joining. Seeking advice! Posted: 08 May 2018 10:37 AM PDT So I joined a fast growing startup as the first SDR in March, we're now hired 3 new SDRs that are joining soon. We're all going for the same thing... promotion to Account Executive. Here's my concerns: Concern 1
Possible solutions: tell my manager my concerns? Concern 2
Possible solutions: Should we split into territory? Should we split the trigger events? Other info: we don't have an SDR manager, hence why the AE's and SDR (me) are doing the onboarding/training [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 May 2018 09:04 PM PDT I just came back from a SDR job interview with a vehicle fleet management company (verizon connect). Good points:

Posted: 08 May 2018 10:27 AM PDT My company has a marketwide leaderboard as well as a national leaderboard, where we can compare against each other's numbers and commission. For me personally, it drives me to push myself harder and harder because I'm obsessed at being #1 at what I do. For those of you in such a competitive environment, does this ultimately serve as motivation for you or a deterrent? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 May 2018 10:14 AM PDT I have scoured the internet for hundreds of leads from member associations and directories, and have them all in the form of PDF files and website links to these directories. What I want to do is enter all of these leads into an excel spreadsheet with the company name, contacts, phone numbers, etc. put in. However, manually entering every single one into a spreadsheet would take a very long time. Is there any way I can extract all of the information from the directories and compile them into a spreadsheet with only a few clicks? [link] [comments] |
Best way to sift through URLs? (Outbound sales) Posted: 08 May 2018 05:23 AM PDT Hey all. I have a list of ~5,000 URLs that are tied to agencies that I'm planning on reaching out to via email. Without having to visit each and every one of their websites to make sure they're a good fit, does anyone have any tools/suggestions to speed things up? Ideally, the solution would be something other than sifting through each and every one of them. I found a couple of options (like opening up multiple tabs at once) that has sped things up but isn't terribly effective. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 May 2018 07:52 AM PDT So I work in the field of intellectual property registration services (IP). We use PPC to generate leads, using a free IP serach as an incentive for getting warm leads. We get intouch with prospects who leave a real number to find out more about the IP and business. Most of our leads are people starting out new companies, so they are usually searching for names used by people with already registered marks or people with established businesses and no registered marks. We occassionaly stumble across already operating businesses and they covert much faster and get bigger orders. During my search I stumble across either registered marks or already existing businesses that have no registered trademarks or copyrights, but potential prospects want to use their names, so infringe. Our conversion rate is around 6%, so lots of people leave without doing business. Either A. they don't care about registering after being aware of the risk or they wanted only a free search. B. go with a cheaper service or register themselves. I would like to know if contacting the unregistered businesses and telling them their mark is unregistered and they might want to consider using us to protect it is unethical. We find that the leads already in business convert better than the one's not in business. Of course, I have not done this so I wanted to be aware of the ethics involved. I feel I can increase our conversion this way. Do I owe anything to a sales prospect that does not convert or intends to take advantage of our free service? [link] [comments] |
Question to the tech sector guys: Does anyone here sell SIEM? Posted: 08 May 2018 03:24 AM PDT I've been approached by a SIEM vendor. Despite having been in security software for most of my career I know very little about this space. Would any of you guys be willing to answer a few questions? [link] [comments] |
I’m in car sales and need to get my test drive rate up. Any tips? Posted: 07 May 2018 09:24 PM PDT I have been tracking my numbers for the past year and I've gained a lot of traction in some areas. I close 40-50% of the customers I take on a test drive then put on a work sheet (how we serve numbers). But the issue is I'm loosing customers at the top. Once I get them in the car I can take them through the whole process and filter out a sale or get them in another day. But I'm loosing way to many before they even test drive it. I usually don't ask and just go get the keys to pull the car around. But a lot of times if the customer is in the lot I can't do that and they're more likely to bail if I offer to get the keys. I use a few word tracks like "I understand you're shopping and I'd like to make sure as you shop you know if the _____ is the right fit for you" or something of that variation. Just hoping to maybe get some tips and snatch of a few more each month. [link] [comments] |
Should i tell my interviewers that i have other interviews i would like to do? Posted: 07 May 2018 02:29 PM PDT I have a interview on Wednesday another on Friday another next Monday and one more next Tuesday. I would like to do all four and see what they all offer. Should I tell them I have other interviews I would like to do before being hired? Or how do I go about this? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 07 May 2018 05:12 PM PDT I've been job searching this past week and I've gotten a couple of job offers. Which one do you think I should take?
I've only been in sales for 2 years and I feel like I could do either one. My heart tells me to stick with the tech SaaS startup because its pretty well structured already. The plastics and lease portfolio offers are pretty tempting though... fyi I live in Vancouver BC at the moment. What are your thoughts Reddit? [link] [comments] |
