HELP!!!!! Found out my husband is having an affair!!!

    Posted: 06 Feb 2022 12:08 PM PST

I need advice and a lot of it. I (30 F) have been married for 10 years to my husband (35 M) we have a beautiful daughter (8 F) together, but recently I have found out my husband is having an affair, and I mean full blown affair. He's been going over there to have sex, he's had her up at his job (he's a firefighter) so she can give him blow jobs out in the parking lot and I think possibly even has taken her into the fire station for various sexual acts ect, when the other guys are in bed. The messages they send each other are disgusting and degrading. Not only are they sexual, but he pretty much bashes, belittles, berates, and drags me through the mud and blames me for everything. I admit that I'm not perfect but there's no reason for that.. He also reveals all my medical stuff to her, like Dr appointments, results of tests and other very private and personal information. And the cherry on top of it all is he's straight up told her that he's not gonna leave me, like straightup told her no, and she OK with it even stating that maybe I'll just leave while her and my husband laugh about it. So I need to know what my options are, like how can I safely and legally put money aside with out him knowing because I know when I confront him it will not be pretty, like I have a few friends that are going to be there when I confront and serve him the divorce papers. But I still need to get money set a side for a place and house hold necessities for my daughter and I.

And for clarification, No he doesn't know that I know about his affair. The reason is because of our daughter. I want to make sure that I have a safe place for her when the time comes.

Edit: Thank you all for the helpful comments, I don't plan on just up and running off with my daughter. He maybe a shitty slime ball of a husband but he is a good father to our daughter and it would break her heart if I tried to take and keep her a way from him. I plan on trying to file for joint custody and trying to find a way of co-parenting that works. Because like I said it would break my daughters heart if I tried to take and keep her from him. Although I have a feeling he's gonna try and play dirty.

[MA] Left a toxic work situation due to egregious sexual harassment and retaliation for reporting. Arbitrated out of court with a judge and received a settlement in exchange for an NDA.

    Posted: 06 Feb 2022 05:08 AM PST

Since signing this NDA, former employer has gone to various lengths to make my life harder. Latest- incorrect tax forms- incorrect reporting of my earnings- too high by more than 15k. Have seen online postings for same job- it's a small field so I even was asked about it from someone looking to apply. At what point can I break the NDA?

    Boss Forcing GF to resign

    Posted: 06 Feb 2022 08:10 AM PST

Girlfriend was told by doctor that she has narcolepsy. It's in the notes of her appointment but she hasn't been "confirmed" until her sleep studies are done. She unable to drive or work properly due to her passing out 2-3 an hour.

Her boss came in to her passed out. Woke her up and told her to go home that she's being terminated for sleeping on the job. He said that she must send in a letter of resignation as she's being replaced.

She went home and her boss texted her "don't forget to send me that letter" I had her text back, "I wish to continue work, I reconsidered that letter" He finally replied with "sorry to hear you're having regrets about quitting. But what's done is done"

What can she do. He's forcing her out

My Biological Father wants to establish a court ordered paternity test but I do not consent

    Posted: 06 Feb 2022 07:21 AM PST

A bit of backstory… found my biological father through a DNA website and he wants to take my parents to court to change the birth certificate to have his name on it. Do I have the ability to decline a court ordered paternity test? My parents don't want to do the test either. I am almost 29 years old and this seems unnecessary at this point. TIA.

Edit: Appreciate all of the replies thus far. He's only doing it in "redemption" towards my mother. Flashback, she was seeing him on the side with my dad, got pregnant, thought it was my dads and did away with that. Now he's upset because she ghosted him for 29 years and simply just wants to "make her suffer." Dad just found out, so they're splitting but I see no benefit, for me personally, to put him (biological dad) on my birth certificate. Especially when this is more important to him than building a relationship with his son. /rant

Company changed bonus terms for junior employees months AFTER giving out the bonus

    Posted: 06 Feb 2022 06:19 AM PST

In October, the company gave junior level employees a "retention bonus" to help slow down team members leaving due to the "great resignation". Terms stated if anyone left before the end of December they would need to pay it back and this was stated to each employee & put in a letter.

Months later at the very end of the year in Dec, when everyone had clearly already used those bonuses because NYC for junior employees is $$$, they notified us the terms were NOW that if we left before the end of March we needed to pay it back and they sent an amended letter. It feels really wrong, but is this allowed? Are there any grounds to dispute paying this if someone were to leave now since they accepted the bonus under different terms originally?

Edit for additional context! - there is an employee leaving now being asked to pay this back, so not just hypothetical Q!

House robbed, stole trackable GPS so we know their apartment, police wont do anything. Is there anything I can do?? I feel sick/angry/betrayed

    Posted: 06 Feb 2022 01:55 PM PST

    Hello!

My house got robbed in N. Seattle recently. Unfortunately they stole computers, passports, wallets, keys, check books, and randomly the garage door opener!

I have security cameras and caught the man in the act breaking in and stealing and the kicker is something he stole has an air-tag in it so we know exactly where the guy lives!!

We reported it to the police but they have said they will not be pursuing it due to it being low in their priority list. I am wondering if there is anything I can due legally to either make the police pursue or is there some private route I can go? What they stole is replaceable (with a few headaches) but really what they stole was our sense of security and privacy. They went through all of our stuff and drawers and have left us with this sickening feeling it could happen again and the cops wont help. With having it on film and having their exact location is there nothing I can do to pursue these criminals??

Neighbor removed tree on our property line without our consent

    Posted: 06 Feb 2022 08:15 AM PST

    Hey everyone,

Location - Idaho. Need some advice here. Neighbor cut down a huge Norway Maple that was on the boundary or property line without discussing anything with us. We recently bought this house a few months ago and it was one of the reasons we bought it - the mature trees.

The story - we recently bought this house but haven't moved in yet since it's a huge across the country move. The neighbor Nextdoor sent a letter dated 1/20/22 about the tree and how they wanted to get it trimmed back and how that's costly, how much the tree has grown over the years they have lived there. They mentioned that they might be able to get the electric company to do a safety trim since it's near the power lines. This letter was addressed to us but sent to an address that is not associated with us in any way and a copy was sent to our home in Idaho. A few days ago, my sister (who stayed at the house for a few weeks after we purchased it) received a call from a neighbor that someone is trying to get a hold of us about a tree removal and they would get back with any information. We are confused by that but figured we would speak to the neighbors in person since we had a trip planned to get the house ready a few days later. Well we got home and there is now only a stump and sawdust everywhere. They trespassed and also damaged the gate.

I took pictures and grabbed all the google map pictures showing how big this tree was. I also have a video that our realtor took of the tree.

We plan to sue. We are filing a police report today. We will get a survey done (we haven't had a chance to do that yet) and will have an arborist come out to assess the damage and worth of the tree. We need to know what type of lawyer to contact.

We also want to know how this will work since the tree was on the property line. Everything I could find states that both owners must agree. I found that Idaho has treble damages and trespass fines. All the lumber was also gone so there is also theft of lumber. Are we eligible to 1/2 damages since it was 1/2 on our property?

TLDR: purchased a new house. neighbor sent letter dated 1/20 about wanting to trim a tree. Come home 2/3 to find tree nearly completely gone saw dust all over property. Evidence of tresspassing and broken gate.

    Thanks.

Sexually Harassed by TSA, anything I can do?

    Posted: 06 Feb 2022 11:13 AM PST

I arrived in LAX airport on Friday. I'm Australian, female. I'm here for 4 weeks with a friend who used to live here and she will show me around. I'm a translator.

In any case I was detained for around 12 hours based on this and I believe I was harassed. I have no problem with them asking questions but no answer satisfied him.

Basically officer Lee (American Korean it seemed) spent his entire shift calling me a prostitute and asking if I had ever been a prostitute, then claiming that I was going to work in a bar. He would ask a question and then talk over me with his answer.

He went through all my luggage, he first said "you don't have enough clothes for a month" (I have 3 suitcase) He then later changed to say I had too many clothes and would stay forever. He pulled out one black top with some lace and said this was a prostitution top. (Standards top from Guess america )

I also brought my normal phone and a blank one for buying a data SIM card which is what I usually do when travelling. He told me this was suspicious if I didn't plan to live in the US because there's reliable wifi everywhere. (There is not) Plus the officer who let me go told me this was a smart idea so… I don't understand.

He went though medication I had and kept asking me if it was contraceptive medicine, it was not because I don't take any. He would just call me a liar or stupid whenever I denied his explanation. It's very stressful to be called a prostitute and a liar and stupid for hours on end.

My friend had gotten through security with 0 issues but he went to find her and called her back to be interrogated. She's Japanese and he proceeded to ask her if she were a whore, went through her phone and found naked pictures and talked to her about them. Asked how much it would cost to fuck him? And whether she thought he was cute. He let her go after about 6 hours but they moved me to the deportation area. ( By this point I was like "whatever just sent me home") although he was saying he woke put me in federal prison which I thought was extremely unlikely for someone who wasn't carrying drugs or terrorism related stuff.

I know officers are allowed to lie if they think it's gonna lead to confess something but this in extreme. He kept telling me to tell the truth again and again. Very stressful.

Eventually his shift ended and a new guy took my case and was very polite and professional. He said there was nothing to keep me and let me go. Saying there was no proof I was doing anything illegal

Although he also questioned me on a few things they found on my phone - it seemed extremely arbitrary.

Why do you have pictures of your ID or credit card? (They're mine, can't I have a copy in case I lose my wallet?)

Why do you have a note form 5 years ago that has the word "escort" in it?

Why is there a conversation about renal failure and kidney function?

Also they wouldn't show me any notes or conversations or whatever they were talking about so I couldn't even get any context, but it's probably all translation related.

iPhone has things from up to 9 years ago.

I know the ultimate answer is "they have authority to deem anything suspicious and ask you whatever they like" but this all seemed crazy to me.

What can I do about it? My friend wants to meet a lawyer Monday.

My husband took my paycheck from a joint account

    Posted: 06 Feb 2022 09:50 AM PST

(Rhode Island) My husband and I are in the process of a divorce. We are completely separated, but agreed to have him file against me to make the process easier and avoid legal fees. He assured me he would file, but I haven't heard anything from him or the courts yet, and haven't been served papers yet.

The separation was extremely messy, but I thought the worst of it was over. Before I could manage to get my finances separated from our joint account, he transferred my entire paycheck into his personal account, then blocked me on every platform you can think of, so I have no way of contacting him.

My question is this: is there any legal recourse I may be able to take in this situation? Or is that money as good as gone, because we are technically still married? I changed accounts already so that it will not happen again, but I am absolutely furious that he can just take my entire check and get away with it. It is absolutely theft, but is it legal? Thank you in advance.

Husband decided he wants to separate…but I’m not sure if he’s my husband.

    Posted: 06 Feb 2022 12:26 PM PST

I should start by saying we were "supposedly" married two years ago. However, when I sent the money order to get our marriage certificate I received a letter saying no paperwork was ever received. This could be because of a devious mother in law or due to Covid and things getting mixed up. However, he has claimed me as married jointly this past year and this year as well. We have a 20 month old daughter together and he does not want to continue our relationship. He has been acting suspicious the last couple of weeks and finally ended things this past Wednesday, on our "wedding anniversary". We both agreed that it would be good for myself to get away from the house because of the breakup. So, it was my idea to have in writing that I had permission to take my daughter with me because I am her primary caregiver. The next morning he typed up that he gave me "permission" to take her until this coming Wednesday, and also to take the car which is in his name. We both signed under each stipulation. The agreement before I left was for me to continue to work opposite shifts while he watches our daughter so I can get out on my own, since I have been a sahm the entire time. As of last night he has said if he was unsure if I would want to stay there now or to drop her off (which I absolutely do not want to do). I do not want to stay in the same house but not sure what I am allowed to do at this point. It seems he has changed his mind on me staying there to earn money as well. However, I am also on the lease. I am at a loss of what to do.

Need maintenance done in my apartment - toilet won’t flush. Need to poop. I haven’t been able to reach anyone. Dupage county IL

    Posted: 06 Feb 2022 08:32 PM PST

Dupage county IL. recently our commercially owned apartments got new owners (from grey star to IT communities), and our online site is down and literally nobodies answering the phones all week. Unrelated but I've been trying to get them to fix our microwave for weeks and they cancelled one request, one pending, and didn't call me back on another one.

Anyways if I can't get ahold of anyone what should I do? Going to the office isn't very doable because I work during their business hours

[MD] Police Won't Do Anything About Harassing Trespasser

    Posted: 06 Feb 2022 11:27 PM PST

I'm a college student renting out an apartment, and I've had a man come knocking and kicking my apartment door several times a week. The very first few times, I thought it was just a random occurence, but it's been several months now. He'll come at any time of the day.

I eventually got a ring to look and get evidence for police without having to look through the peephole. On one occasion, he left his phone probably due to being drugged out. I know exactly who he is; his facebook has pictures of him posing with guns, and posts saying stuff like "y'all dead." He seems to have some sort of vendetta against who he thinks lives here.

Police won't escalate the situation. I think because he technically hasn't done anything illegal?

Management is too scared to confront him as he walks in the front, and somehow expect me to do something about it.

Staying somewhere else is not really an option for me. I don't know what to do. I feel like it's only a matter of time before something really bad happens. I feel very unsafe in my apartment in case he somehow get in let alone leaving to do things like get groceries. What can I do?

Company wants wife to sign agreement forcing her to pay back travel expenses.

    Posted: 06 Feb 2022 12:58 PM PST

We're from TX, it's where we're employed, where we live, etc.

During November 2021, her workplace began asking for volunteers to take on a work assignment in ME starting in January 2022 and lasting 3 to 6 months. Despite the hectic and rushed nature of it all, my wife accepted the challenge and decided to volunteer for it.

Now, as she's a month into the assignment, her company's HR department from ME is asking her to sign an agreement that states my wife would be responsible for paying back all the living and travel expenses she will/has incurred during the assignment IF she stops working for the company within the next 3 years. This includes both termination or resignation.

Naturally, all the people who volunteered for the assignment are uncomfortable with signing the document, but a lot of them have done it already, as HR implied it was mandatory.

We have no idea if it's even legal, but it does seem very sketchy to make it known only after everyone's already there. We're talking about a huge, multinational company (who's also a big federal contractor right now), so I don't really think they'd do it unless they were sure it was legal.

Do we have any options here? It doesn't look like an employee united front is possible anymore.

Edit 1: Thanks for the feedback so far.

    • As far as what the original contract says, we're still going over it. I'll update when we have more details.

    • It's not in our plans for her to leave the company in the next 3 years, but we're still apprehensive about signing it because of the "termination" part of the agreement.

Professor disclosed my gpa to 14 other students.....

    Posted: 06 Feb 2022 04:17 PM PST

I have heard about ferpa laws. I don't know if this illegal, but a professor requested I email him my current resume. So, I complied and emailed it to him. Later that week, I received an email with 14 other students' and my resume carbon copied to their emails. It contained my GPA and other things that I didn't want other students to know. How does this not violate ferpa laws? I won't do anything about it, but I felt it was an invasion of privacy because I didn't give him permission to send it to other students. All advice welcomed. Thanks....

    Divorced and argument on vaccines

    Posted: 06 Feb 2022 03:56 PM PST

Been divorced from my ex for over 10 years and he's not really in the picture. My 14 year old (almost 15) son lives with me full time. I have sole physical custody and we have joint decision making. I really want to change this but everyone is telling me it's not worth the time and money.

So my son inquired about getting the vaccine. We sat down together and I made absolutely sure he wanted to get it. So I took him to get vaccinated against COVID.

His dad is anti all vaccines and is telling me I need to let him know and ask him next time and he is making my son feel bad about getting vaccinated. Saying I poisoned him and even checked him with magnets.

My question is, in our state Arizona, can my son make his own decision on getting vaccinated?

I believe I am misclassified as a 1099 contractor and my employer is avoiding taxes

    Posted: 06 Feb 2022 07:13 PM PST

Illinois. I took the first job I was offered after being rejected for quite sometimes. I work in an office, basically customer service as the main function. The work is assigned by another contractor. After several weeks I asked for a raise and asked to become a W-2 employee. I got the raise but no w-2. When I was interviewed both options were given but now I was told by payroll that everyone in my area is contractors for some reason that wasn't explained. I want to keep the job, it's hard to get hired at my age and I'm refreshing my skills. But I also want to work from home. There is nothing I do in the office that I can't do remotely. I wouldn't mind staying 1099 if I can work remote. Is there a case I can make to change my classification either way? Do I have any leverage I could use to be a remote worker? Like remind them they are violating employment rules? By working remotely can I give them some cover for the 1099 misclassification? I really want to make this a remote gig.

A Nurse stole my Grandpa's diamond ring while he was being taken care of as an inpatient.

    Posted: 06 Feb 2022 07:12 PM PST

His fingers were too swollen to have the ring taken off by us in the first place before sending him to the hospital. My grandma was keeping a close eye on the ring during each visit and during one visit the ring was just gone. He came back home today and apparently all his valuables that were listed were recorded as if it was returned to us but clearly that's a lie. Whoever administers the patient's valuables either stole it for themselves, covered for someone else, or covering for the hospital itself to evade liabilities for theft.

    Any advice?

NEED advice regarding child support and divorce process!!

    Posted: 06 Feb 2022 08:20 PM PST

Hello everyone! I'm posting from a throwaway account because of privacy. I wanted to share some details giving summary of everything that happened and hopefully you all can direct me to the right direction.

I (F/25) got married about 2 years ago and recently had a baby. After marriage things were normal until I got pregnant. I was a victim of domestic violence by my husband and in my culture this is a taboo topic. My husband raised his hands on me and I didn't speak up. Then second time it happened, I got my family involved and it caused a scene with my husband side family and my brothers. Then he apologized to everyone and I went back to live with him again. I think that was one of my biggest mistake by believing that he changed. All that were happening when I was pregnant with a baby.

Couple months passes by, I was coming near to my due date and he started to act aggressive again. He started saying stuff like aborting the baby, my family planning him to keep him under their control by the baby and divorce, etc. It took a mental toll on me and my blood pressure was extremely high. I kept it as a secret from my family and went on with the process. After giving birth, I was in the hospital for almost 4 days due to some major complications. Thankfully, my baby is safe and we currently are living with my family. She is loved my brothers and parents to the extreme and I am happy that they care for her so much.

Reason why I say all this because even though all that happened, I thought the baby might change the situation. He might change but nothing happened. After the baby came home, my family took me to their home and they live within a walking distance from my husband's house. Due to the complications during the giving birth, my family thought it would be safer for me to stay with them. My husband agreed too. But within the first week of staying with my family, we got into an argument and he left my house after throwing a fit and cursing me out. That was last time he had any contact with my baby.

From them on, my family and I have been taking care of the baby. My family went to the police station to start looking into taking legal action and the detective who talked with me insisted to solve the issue within before taking legal action. The detective called my husband and he denied all the allegations. My husband then called me to say sorry and to come back to his house which was not an option anymore as I fear my child's safety around him after that last interaction. I didn't block him anywhere yet and I post on a close friend list to show him the baby pictures and video. There was some family talks in between to solve the whole situation but nothing changed. He is not the guy who I thought he is. Manipulative, liar and very tactic to say the least.

Finance wise, I have been taking care of this baby. I'm a teacher and I make a decent living. He did send some money via QuickPay multiple times which I sent it back right away. I felt like he is doing that to show he is involved in my baby's life which is not. He didn't see her ever since even though he asked to see the baby and dropping her off at his place. I denied that as well. All the insurance and doctors and stuff is done by me and my family.

Today he texted me saying that he feels proud of letting me go and removing me from his life as he thinks he made the best decision. Mind you he texted after seeing the story I posted on my close friend list! I did save all the text messages where he wrote about divorce, not wanting the baby and cursing me out.

I am thinking of pressing charges for domestic violence, divorce and getting child support. I want to make sure he pays for everything he has done and doesn't get a chance to ruin someone else's life. I'm thankful for having a family that is supporting me through hell and willing to help me out throughout the whole process. However, I don't want to burden them with any of this. What are my chances to get all that done? I don't want to give him any custodial rights either and I don't believe he will fight me on that either. My family contacted a lawyer and I'm going to meet her this week. Just wanted to get a clear picture of cost and my chances of winning the case (NYC).

Thank you in advance for reading this lengthy post!

They don't want to move it, but will for $3,000 when other Utility companies will move their boxes for $250-$500. Anything I can legally do?

Does this mean the ticket is paid for and resolved? I emailed the court but they're closed on Sundays.

    Thank you.

EDIT: It also says my disposition date is the same day I paid the ticket.

Just found out about two red light citations, now worth $700, from violations a year ago. Since then I've moved to another state.

I ran two red lights (State Statute code 547-Red-Light Camera, Section, 316.075(1)(c)1 failure to stop at a red traffic signal pursuant to F.S. 316.0083 of the Florida State Statutes) in Tampa last year, one of them over a year ago, the other last April. I'm just learning about it today, because a collections law firm finally found my parents address to send them a notice for the first one. The second one hasn't gone to collections yet but I assume it will soon. The clerk of courts had been (I assume) sending notices to the address they have on file, which is an apartment I moved out of a year and a half ago. I found out about the second violation by looking up the first on the clerk of courts website.

Running a red light starts out as a moving violation, with a minor penalty. Then it moves on to a "uniform traffic citation", which carry points and maybe higher insurance premiums, as well as higher fines. Between the two which are both now citations, and the collections fee for the first one, I now owe nearly $700 for running two red lights. I'd have paid them months ago, but again, I didn't know about any of it because they sent the notices to an old address.

Here's the kicker - I moved out of state a few months ago to Seattle. I have a WA driver's license now, which is good because my FL one would be suspended if I didn't.

What I'm trying to find out are 1) What are the consequences, now that I'm out of state, for ignoring it and b) what are the consequences if I do pay it. For the former, will the fines just keep going up somehow, and the collections agency get more aggressive? Can my license out here in WA get suspended? For the latter, by paying the fine and "admitting guilt" will I get points added and my insurance go up, out here? Does Washington even have "points"?

I'm not above shelling out such an absurd wad of cash if it makes this go away. But I don't know, maybe there's nothing FL can do to make me pay, but if I do, there's consequences for insurance. Any advice appreciated, thanks.

New rental reeks of smoke; available remedies?

    Posted: 06 Feb 2022 08:25 AM PST

    Bay Area, California

Expecting a new member of the family and moved into 3 bedroom unit, from our 2 bedroom unit, in the same complex. Moved yesterday.

The primary bedroom and bath reeks of tobacco smoke and the fixtures in the primary bath, and cabinets, and stained yellow with nicotine. Our lease has a strict no smoke clause and clearly the previous tenets smoked. AFAIK the smoking clause on the lease doesn't say what happens if you move in and it still stinks. Of course the smell is terrible but I we don't want my wife exposed to this stuff while growing a baby.

What would be some potential remedies or approaches? Ideally we would stay in the same unit and they fix the issue, though, with smoke smell not sure how that can be done. Second best open would be moved into a different unit in the same complex - I feel they should pay to move us but I'd just pay at this point. Third option - could we break the lease with cause if they are not able to remedy?

New to the whole situation as my previous rentals have always be great in the complex. Any advice on how to approach the issue with management would be great. Strong arm or more meek approach? We sent an email and will be at the leasing office when the open at noon.
