    PayPal (Ticker: PYPL) Investment Thesis

    Posted: 14 Jan 2022 05:45 AM PST

    1. Overview

PayPal Holdings, Inc. was incorporated in Delaware in January 2015 and is a leading technology platform and digital payments company that enables digital and mobile payments on behalf of merchants and consumers worldwide. PayPal's mission is to 'democratize financial services to improve the financial health of individuals and to increase economic opportunity for entrepreneurs and businesses of all sizes around the world'. Their goal is to enable merchants and consumers to manage and move their money anywhere in the world, anytime, on any platform, and using any device when sending payments or getting paid. PayPal also facilitates person-to-person ('P2P') payments through the PayPal, Venmo, and Xoom products and services and simplifies and personalized shopping experiences for consumers through the Honey Platform.

PayPal earns revenues primarily by charging fees for completing payment transactions for customers and other payment-related services that are typically based on the volume of activity processed on their payments platform. PayPal generally does not charge consumers to fund or draw from their accounts; however, they generate revenue from consumers on fees charged for foreign currency conversion and instant transfers from their PayPal or Venmo account to their debit card or bank account, as well as from interest and fees from their credit products. PayPal also earns revenue by providing other value added services, which comprise revenue earned through partnerships, merchant and consumer credit products, referral fees, subscription fees, gateway services, and other services that are provided to merchants and consumers.

    1. Customers

At the end of Q3 2021, PayPay had 416 million active accounts up 15% year-over-year (YoY) consisting of 383 million consumer active accounts and 33 million merchant active accounts. PayPal defines an active account as 'an account registered directly with PayPal or a platform access partner that has completed a transaction on our Payments Platform or through our Honey Platform, not including gateway-exclusive transactions, within the past 12 months'.

    Morning Update for Friday, 1/14/22

    Posted: 14 Jan 2022 06:21 AM PST

Good morning everyone. Have a nice Friday, and enjoy the long weekend :)

These posts are for informational purposes only. I am not a financial advisor.

    Main Watchlist:

    Gapping UP:

    • LVS: Premarket resistance at ~42.50. Will want to see it find support above 41, could provide shorting opportunities if it breaks down. Will be watching for upwards movement if it holds up.
    • WYNN: Potential support levels at 91 and 90. Relevant resistance at ~95.
    • MGM: Potential support level at 46, will be watching to see if it holds up or breaks down.
    • WFC: Potential support level at 56.75. Will watch for more upwards movement if it holds up, could provide shorting opportunities if it breaks down.
    • UVXY: Will be looking to trade this if we see continued weakness from the overall market, I like watching SPY for reference.

    Gapping DOWN:

    • NVAX: Potential support/resistance level right around ~100, will be watching for potential ORB setup.
    • MRNA: Potential support/resistance level at ~200. Will be looking for shorting opportunities if we break down and cannot recover. If it reclaims the 200 level, there is room for upside.
    • TSLA: Will be watching for shorting opportunities down towards potential support level at 1,000. Could see a retrace towards 950 support if it sees continued weakness.
    • JPM: Potential resistance level at 164. Will be watching for shorting opportunities if it fails to get back above that level.
    • NET: Looking bearish after breaking down below 100 support in yesterday's trading. Potential support at 96, will watch for shorting opportunities if it breaks down.
    • TSM: Potential support level at 135, will be watching for shorting opportunities if it breaks down.
    • ZM: Potential support level at 160, will watch for shorting opportunities if it breaks down.
    • SRC: Potential resistance level at 48. Will be watching for more weakness if it breaks down.

    Momentum Watchlist:

    • MLCO: Potential premarket support around ~10.40. Won't be too interested in trading it if it breaks down and cannot recover.

Not much looking great for the momentum list at the moment, could be worth running the scanner a few more times before market open.

    Market Outlook:

Stocks are looking to open lower after we saw some selling off in yesterday's session. The Federal Reserve has indicated that they could raise interest rates "as soon as asset purchases are terminated". The Fed is currently on track to end the tapering process in March, so the market seems to be pricing in the likely rate hike. With inflation continuing to run rampant, financial policy will continue to be a hot topic of discussion in the coming months. Omicron concerns seem to be taking a backseat to financial policy and inflation at the moment. I think it's worth noting that the omicron strain is notably less severe; if we get a more severe mutation, it could cause real problems for global markets.

S&P Futures are down ~60 basis points, Dow Futures are down ~60 basis points, and Nasdaq Futures are down ~80 basis points. Gold is trading flat this morning, while silver is down a bit. Crude oil is also trading a bit lower, but still holding above the $80 level. Banks are mixed after reporting earnings. WFC is trading slightly higher after positive results, while JPM and C are gapping down after expressing concern over rising labor costs. Semiconductor stocks are down in premarket trading after selling off on Thursday. We saw weakness from tech stocks in yesterday's session; I'll be looking for more of the same today, although we could see a bounce. Vaccine-related stocks are seeing weakness in premarket, should see heavy volume in today's session. Airlines and cruise stocks are down a bit after seeing decent strength yesterday. Most are still hovering around resistance levels. The crypto market is down a bit after seeing some more red yesterday. Bitcoin is currently trading around 42,300. We'll see if it can find support above the 40,000 level, but could be in for some more choppiness. Crypto-related stocks are down in premarket trading as a result.

Remember to use proper risk management; size appropriately for your account and have a plan for every trade you enter. Happy trading everyone :)

With an 80% jump in margin use among individual investors over the last 2 years, how much margin do you currently have?

    Posted: 13 Jan 2022 09:49 AM PST

With an 80% jump in margin use among individual investors over the last 2 years, how much margin do you currently have?

With an 80% jump in margin use among individual investors over the last 2 years, how much margin do you currently have (as a percentage of your portfolio)? And at what rate? Do you plan on reducing your margin amount as rates increase this year and if so, how/how much?

I.e. I'm currently borrowing about 47% of my portfolio's value in margin (not including retirement accounts, which you can't take margin out on). I plan to reduce this to about 25-30% by year-end depending on the speed of rate hikes.

It's interesting to consider how high margin debt is (918.6 billion as of 11/30) as rates start increasing this year; is there any relatively recent empirical research exploring individual investors'/funds' sensitivity to rate hikes in terms of margin?

This might be an interesting start:

    https://www.marketwatch.com/story/this-indicator-flashed-warnings-in-2000-and-2007-and-its-buzzing-now-11640865332

Overall, margin is still only about 2.5% of the S&P 500's total market capitalization so I suppose nothing really alarming could stem from margin use itself, but I'm curious as to how others are adjusting their margin usage as rates increase.

tl;dr Lots of margin usage, what does yours look like?

Edit: Some brokerages like Robinhood do provide margin at pretty low rates (2.5%). Would that change your answer?

FORD - THE BEST EV PLAY part VI

    Posted: 13 Jan 2022 03:38 PM PST

With Fords worldwide established network of factories and significant seasoned labor advantage they will be able to scale up production very quickly over the next few quarters while newer competitors are struggling to scale up and are forced to announce delays.

Interest rate rise will restrict capital and burden newer auto companies trying to scale up.

Let's say there are 10 farms growing all the berries for the whole market and a new start up farm grows a hybrid berry that tastes better and takes share from the legacy farmers. What happens next is the legacy farmers grow the hybrid berry and supply the market. But at this point in time there is one too many farms than is needed to supply the market. The start ups are in the weakest position due to the burden of start up costs ( cost of capital ) and will have to beat the odds to survive.

Of all the legacy automakers Ford moved first and boldly, positioned itself early and now will reap the rewards and a Lions market share of the EV market.

Fords market cap and share price will double long before others in the EV market. Consequently it is the best stock in the auto sector for outsized gains.IMO.

Good luck to my Fellow FORD Bulls ! I will see you on the MOON !

    PsychoMarket Recap - Thursday, January 13, 2022

Volatility resumed in the markets after a brief two-day rally, as market participants digested new weekly unemployment data and the monthly CPI and PPI reports, which showed the fastest pace of inflation in decades.

    Markets Today

    • S&P 500 (SPY): -1.38%
    • Nasdaq (QQQ): -2.50%
    • Dow Jones (DIA): -0.48%
    • Russell 2000 (IWM): -0.92%
    • Volatility Index (VIX): +15.27%
    • Tesla (TSLA): -6.75%
    • NVIDIA (NVDA): -5.27%
    • Microsoft (MSFT): -4.23%
    • Shopify (SHOP): -8.93%
    • Taiwan Semiconductors (TSM): +5.31%
    • Cloudflare (NET): -13.35%
    • Alibaba (BABA): -4.92%

The Labor Department's weekly unemployment report showed an unexpected rise in first-time filings, with new unemployment claims rising to 230,000 from 207,000 last week. Still, new filings remain near pre-pandemic levels. Continuing jobless claims improved to their lowest level since 1973. Here are the numbers:

    • Initial jobless claims: 230,000 vs. 200,000 expected and an unrevised 207,000 during prior week
    • Continuing claims: 1.559 million vs. 1.733 million expected and a revised 1.753 million during prior week

Meanwhile, the Bureau of Labor Statistics' December producer price index (PPI) showed a 9.7% year-over-year increase in prices paid by producers, the biggest jump since 2010. Core PPI, which excludes volatile food and energy prices, came in at 8.3%.

Omar Aguilar, Chief Investment Officer at Charles Schwab Asset Management, said "The inflation picture obviously is something that people are trying to understand — the concept of PPI and the fact that we're getting ... numbers that we haven't seen in quite some time. The labor market seems to continue to be very tight and very strong, and I think investors are trying to understand what the implications might be for the reaction of the central bank."

    https://www.bls.gov/news.release/ppi.nr0.htm

The PPI comes the day after the Consumer Price Index (CPI) showed that prices for consumer goods rose 7.0% year-over-year, the fastest pace of inflation since 1982. CPI matched consensus estimates and showed a minor acceleration compared to November 6.8% print.

By category, prices for used cars and trucks and shelter were the largest contributors to the headline increase. The used cars and trucks index rose for a third straight month and accelerated to a 3.5% month-on-month rise in December from November's 2.5% increase. This index was also higher by a marked 37.3% compared to the same month last year. Shelter prices rose 0.4%.

The core measure of consumer price changes, which excludes volatile food and energy prices, rose 5.5% in December over last year, representing the fastest increase since 1991. This accelerated from a 4.9% annual gain in November.

My favorite penny stock: The Nano-cap Stock that could transform the radio industry. $auud

    Posted: 14 Jan 2022 12:05 AM PST

I watched Auddia when it ipo'd. It was an odd little stock. Small float, miniscule marketcap, and basically vaporware with a utility that sounded well.... dumb

For those that don't know, Auddia has two main apps, Auddia and Vodacast. For this post, I will only be focusing on Auddia, which is where I think the money really is.

Auddia is a lot like Spotify for local radio. Sounds dumb, I know. But then I downloaded the app. It's sleek, has great interface, and believe it or not I've been using it every day since I downloaded it. I haven't been a radio listener in well over a decade, but I'm back. and I even prefer it to Spotify for the more personal and local content.

it uses AI to skip ads and insert content. it basically operates like a DVR for radio with AI creating a smooth experience. and that DVR similarity is an important element. Under fair use law, they don't have to pay royalties for using songs. the radio stations are already doing that. the founder, a smart chap, has already done all of the legal work to ensure that this is on the up and up.

here is a long interview with the Jeff Thramann, the founder.

    https://youtu.be/63MJk7dB3UI

it's a very detailed interview. I can't get into every nuance here, but if you're interested in the company, it's definitely worth the listen. Jeff thoroughly impressed me as a company founder. He has a long track record of inventing and creating start-ups to sell to larger players. Lanx is one example. I was also encouraged by Jeff buying another 4 million in stock at the IPO. No insiders have sold any shares.

Right now the app is not in its final form. it's basically a beta version with a limited amount of stations. but.. there is a big catalyst coming in February of this year. They are rolling out 4000 radio stations with app upgrades as well.

    http://www.insideradio.com/free/auddia-says-it-will-have-4-000-radio-stations-when-its-customizable-app-goes-live/article_fe7b3b5e-598b-11ec-a4f5-6fe410a40743.html

Radio is viewed as a dying industry. But radio still currently makes up roughly 45 percent of consumer audio consumption, which dwarfs everything else. This app will allow stations to elect to opt into getting a large cut of auddia's subscription fees if they collaberate and cross promote the platform, which would provide greater revenue for those radio stations than ad time.

It has a very small float and a marketcap of only 23 million 😮 When it ipo'd I really did think it was vaporware. But they are delivering on developing the app and AI, and they are actively working on partnerships. They also have no debt on the balance sheets. the February roll out date will be critical. if delayed for any reason I'm sure this cutthroat market will shit on the stock lol but I don't believe they will delay it.

There is one major hurdle to cross for Auddia: will people pay subscription fees for a premium radio listening experience?

That is up in the air, but from my personal experience using the app, I definitely would--especially when there are thousands of stations available. The AI programming is heads above any other competitors such as iHeartMedia (which has a 3 billion dollar marketcap)

I now own a position in Auddia of 50k shares. I am mostly a swing trader but this is the highest conviction I've had in a penny stock ever, so I will be holding it long term and adding over time. I don't think there's any rush to get in, mostly because of market conditions. But I'm hopeful that the February roll-out will set a slightly higher floor for the stock. .

MSFT almost down as much as RKLB

    Posted: 13 Jan 2022 12:18 PM PST

Says a lot about being near a "bottom" when RKLB is holding above its previous weekly highs....and MSFT is eating complete crap.

We are no longer in a macro-correction, FEDs are pretty much priced in. Looks like NASDAQ is now selling off on a technical correction. Weeks ago I called for MSFT to test $308, it wicked it a few trading days ago, but now it's sitting well into that test.

I don't really think MSFT is much weaker than $308 so I figured today is pretty much a one-off....mega-tech doesn't need to come down by much.

As much as the divergence between RKLB and MSFT shows how bottomed out winning-growth sector companies are, it also shows how near a bottom mega-cap tech is.

Why is nearly every company at record Sales & Earnings?

    Posted: 13 Jan 2022 07:27 AM PST

Doesn't matter what Sector or Industry, these last 9 months have seen explosive growth everywhere, now some industries have a more distinguishable reason, and overall; certain factors can be attributed to what the Fed has done. But why is it when i look at some historically stagnant industries and companies within i see 30-50% YoY Sales/EPS growth?

Through the veil of the times we live in I can only think of two reasons though I'd love some clarification from you guys If you have it.

1: Business is moving back home to previously flagging industries as Covid restrictions prevent easy movement of Goods & Services. So a company that was getting trashed by competition from China is now seeing a boon as (for the time being) it's easier/more profitable to order locally/nationally.

    or

2: Along the same lines as point 1 but slightly different:

Supply chain bottlenecks are pushing prices up. This in some way must be relevant I think for industries such as chemicals and manufacturing which are seeing big bumps in growth.

I'm sure the answer can be a mixture of both points but It's been wild seeing nearly every company I would otherwise not glance at now entering my scanners on the back of hugely profitable quarters. I'd love to get input from some of the talented and more knowledgeable of you out there if you wouldn't mind?

    (1/13) Thursday's Pre-Market Stock Movers & News

    Posted: 13 Jan 2022 05:45 AM PST

Good morning traders and investors of the r/StockMarket sub! Welcome to Thursday! Here are your pre-market stock movers & news on this Thursday, January 13th, 2022-

Stock futures nudge higher after a 3-day winning streak for Nasdaq

U.S. stock futures were slightly positive during early trading on Thursday after the Nasdaq Composite rose for the third session despite a red-hot consumer price index report.

Dow futures were up 56 points. S&P 500 futures rose about 0.1%, and Nasdaq 100 futures gained roughly 0.1%.

In early earnings action, Delta Air Lines posted a beat on profit and revenue and reaffirmed full-year guidance. Shares rose about 1.7% in premarket trading. Elsewhere, shares of homebuilder KB Home rallied more than 8% in extended trading after reporting better-than-expected earnings.

Analysts expect fourth-quarter earnings to be up 22.4%, according to Refinitiv, but guidance for 2022 from companies will likely be a key determinant for market action.

Elsewhere, Dow component Boeing rose about 3% premarket following a Bloomberg News report that the company's 737 Max could resume service in China as soon as this month.

On Wednesday, the major averages rose despite the consumer price index showing the highest year-over-year increase since June 1982, it was largely in line with Wall Street expectations. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose about 38 points and the S&P 500 added 0.3%. The Nasdaq Composite gained for the third straight day, climbing 0.2%.

The December consumer price index, a key inflation measure, increased 7%, according to the department's Bureau of Labor Statistics.

"Stocks shook off the sticker shock of the historically high inflation number, but that was also widely expected and incredibly a non-event today really," said Ryan Detrick of LPL Financial. "What we are excited about is earnings season is right around the corner. We expect another solid showing by corporate America, while it will also be a chance to stop focusing so much on the Fed and policy, but instead get under the hood and see how the economy is really doing."

The December producer price index, another measure of inflation, is then set to come out on Thursday morning. Economists surveyed by Dow Jones are looking for a 0.4% monthly increase on the headline number and a 0.5% gain after stripping out food and energy prices.

Also on the data front, initial jobless claims for the week ending Jan. 8 will be released at 8:30 a.m. Economists polled by Dow Jones forecast 200,000 people filed for unemployment, down from the previous week's 207,000.

Markets also will be watching action on Capitol Hill, where Fed Governor Lael Brainard will be heading for her confirmation as vice chairman of the central bank's policymaking Federal Open Market Committee.

Fourth-quarter earnings season kicks off this week with several major banks reporting on Friday before the bell.

"The stock market is of course still vulnerable near-term to a bad PPI inflation report, but earnings season is about to begin and given how strong economic growth was in the fourth quarter, expect more evidence of ongoing solid company earnings to help soothe contemporary Fed tightening and inflation fears," said Jim Paulsen, chief investment strategist for the Leuthold Group.

For the week, the S&P 500 and Nasdaq are up 1.1% and 1.7%, respectively. The Dow is up slightly since Monday.

$BEST inc is one of the top undervalued plays IMO: high short float; big revenue; and potential bullish surprises. Some brief dd

TL:DR I think $BEST inc is one of the top undervalued stocks in 2022 going forward; and I expect it to eventually get back to it's ipo and more.

Okay disclosure first: I'm long on $BEST inc with 300k shares around 1.20--so currently bagholding. But I think this really is a top turnaround contender for 2022 going forward; am unsure what the justification really is for their current valuation. But first here's some interesting points about $BEST inc to wet your appetite:

    • Smart logistics/freight/ecommerce/supply chain services company backed by BABA; BABA owns 10million shares of $BEST inc, and is partnered with them in essentially every major SE Asian country.
    • Recent $1.1 billion deal for their DOMESTIC express unit of the business; $BEST did not sell their INTERNATIONAL express unit(s)--many people are unaware of this. This deal will virtually wipe out their debts, and leave the company with around 600million in cash.
    • Current revenue in the billions. Estimated to be around $2 billion in 2022.
    • Market cap 300million; P/S ratio is around 0.07
    • Founder/CEO/Chairman of $BEST inc was the global vice president and Greater China president of Google.
    • $BEST has expanded into basically every SE Asian country--if you're been following the recent developments there, the RCEP, then this should be a very bullish indicator.
    • Many of $BEST's institutional investors continue to hold rather large positions here: Goldman, Vanguard, Blackrock, Alibaba--all hold millions of $BEST's shares.
    • Company is currently unprofitable; but this could change quite soon.
    • Short float is around 20% on Finviz! We could squeeze the shorts!
    • They're being quiet; they're not defending their stock price--could a full buyout be coming?
    • $BEST will have a lot of cash soon: 600million+. What if they do a buyback and then relist some shares on Hong Kong?

One of these points I'm especially bullish about is the RCEP: an enormous free trade agreement which is effective in 2022. $BEST has expanded into many of these countries. This region will grow into an enormous economic powerhouse; the percentage of global GDP alone in this region attests to why I'm bullish about $BEST's decision to expand into these regions.

In their last financial quarterly report, $BEST explicitly said they're expecting to become profitable; this too looks promising, especially when we consider they sold their biggest loss causing unit--so it looks like profitability is coming.

Hope you found this interesting; I think now is the time to buy and hold--I really do think this could rise basically at any point now.

Good luck friends! Squeeze the $BEST inc shorts! Finviz shows 20% short float! This could explode!

For Your Consideration: Reklaim (OTCQB: MYIDF)

    Posted: 13 Jan 2022 12:00 PM PST

We'd like your honest opinion on Reklaim, trading on the OTCQB under stock symbol MYIDF.

Founded in 2018 and with offices in New York & Toronto, Reklaim is a company driven by the evolution of data and privacy. Reklaim aims to democratize data for consumers by providing them with an ecosystem where they can view, edit, opt-out, and be compensated for the use of their data. Today there is no destination for consumers to participate in the use of their data. Reklaim aspires to be the destination that consumers visit to reclaim control of their online data.

Available on the web and in both the iOS and Google Play stores, Reklaim allows consumers to opt-in to share specific pieces of data with brands, agencies, and companies in exchange for compensation from the use of their personal data.

All Reklaim data is 1st party, global, and privacy complaint (CCPA/GDPR).

    Value Proposition

Every adult on the planet over the age of +16 has a digital profile currently being sold for approximately $6k per year via a legitimized black market of human arbitrage. In this multi-trillion-dollar data market, there is zero consumer inclusion, transparency, or compensation. Corporations have gotten increasingly rich by taking advantage of consumers.

Privacy legislation is sweeping the world, placing the consumer at the center of new privacy policies that require explicit consumer inclusion, the opposite of what exists today. We are on the verge of a wave of massive data disruption where consumers will demand what's rightfully theirs. COVID tracing, Tik Tok & China, Facebook vs. Apple - all front-page stories, all based on data and privacy.

Reklaim's goal is to democratize data for consumers and place this transparency, control, and compensation in their hands. Reklaim aspires to become the defining consumer brand of data that is absent in the market today in the same way Uber redefined transportation, and Robinhood is attempting to democratize trading.

    Investment Highlights

    • First-mover solution addressing significant unmet consumer needs in the multi-trillion-dollar data market
    • Positioned to be the defining consumer brand of data that is absent in the market today
    • B2B account additions up 127% in first nine months of 2021; 75 B2B customers as of September 30, 2021
    • Approx. 320+ mm user data profiles at end of 3Q21, up from 10k in 2Q20
    • Reduced CPA to less than a penny per user (down from more than $2 per user in 2Q20
    • Long-term recurring contracts that are growing in value & number
    • Ongoing product enhancements provide near-term catalysts; rewards, Consent-as-a-Service (CaaS), Reklaim Crypto and Reklaim Banking & international expansion
    • Highly experienced management team, board and advisors
    • CEO personally invested $9M (shares in escrow)

Good morning everyone, hope you have a nice Thursday.

    • COIN
    • KBH
    • MIME

    Gapping DOWN:

    • NVAX

    • DWAC
    • SPCE

    Momentum Watchlist:

    • BTCS
    • ADGI
    • GMVD
    • VOLT

    Market Outlook:

Stocks are looking to open a bit higher after a somewhat choppy session yesterday. The Bureau of Labor Statistics' December CPI showed the cost of goods rose at 7.0% year-over-year. That's the highest rate in four decades. With inflation continuing to run rampant, the Fed's recent hawkish stance looks more and more likely to become a reality sooner rather than later. It's a sticky situation with COVID though; things could get messy. Banks are expected to report Q4 results on Friday, which will kick off this earnings season.

Remember to use proper risk management; size appropriately for your account and have a plan for every trade you enter. Happy trading everyone :)
