Make employees use their time off before taking unpaid time?

    Posted: 03 May 2021 03:09 PM PDT

Our employees get some paid time off but we haven't been making them is it if they don't want to and are going to be out. They just go unpaid. I see a lot of places have policies saying you have to use your time first before taking unpaid time. What's the reason behind this?

    small biz marketing masterclass

    Posted: 03 May 2021 10:35 PM PDT

I have been thinking about developing a marketing course that would bring big business marketing strategies and concepts to small business owners.

Is that something people would be interested in? I have gone as far as writing an extensive outline but haven't really validated if small business owners would actually want that.

My background is that I've worked in the service industry on high traffic websites generating over a million leads per year and I'm passionate about helping small business owners.

The focus of the class would be more strategic and less tactical. It would have worksheets on how to translate concepts to your business. Every business owner should walk out with a grip on their numbers, a clear marketing strategy, and they should be able to leverage agencies/outside help and know how to talk to them confidently.

If you'd be interested, comment or DM me and I will give it to you for free if I make it for helping me validate.

Got a letter from the SBA reminding me that I have a 100k loan due by next September; looks like fraud. What info must the fraudster have?

    Posted: 03 May 2021 12:56 PM PDT

I'm trying to get in touch w the SBA but assuming it's fraud, what info of mine, at minimum, must the bad guys have? I've never done an SBA loan so not sure what is required. Could they just have my EIN and business name? This is the first letter I have seen about this. I hope it's not a bigger ID theft thing.

Effectiveness compels people to buy? Customer experience gets people to rebuy?

    Posted: 03 May 2021 10:58 PM PDT

A business wants to be capable enough to effectively promote, and create an exceptional product. That is step one. Step two is to take care of the customer, and bond by having a consistently great experience.

In short, To compel customers to buy: good capability, effective marketing, satisfying product & brand, To retain customers: good consistent customer experience. Would you say this is accurate?

    Ppp possible mistake?

    Posted: 04 May 2021 12:44 AM PDT

I received an approval email with a loan # from the sba for ppp funding. I am not sure what went wrong where but I noticed that the dashboard on blue acorn says my estimated ppp is $28832.

My calculations of my profit (if correct and if we get 2.5 times our monthly profit) should be a loan amount of around $9000

I have reached out to Blue Acorn to try to fix the possible mistake prior to receiving my loan docs but I haven't heard back.

When I researched overpayment it said to give back the unused funds to the sba.

The last thing I want is trouble with the feds. How do I get them to check into this to be certain I am not receiving more than I am eligible for?

Best site for help wanted ads

    Posted: 03 May 2021 05:45 PM PDT

One of my locations is in a small town and it is very very difficult to get applicants that are even decent to come to an interview. I'm tired of the shit crew I have over there and plan to replace them all. Hoping to run different hiring campaigns through different sites for a month to get a good crew together. I'v got indeed already but would like to know what other sites people under 30 are using to find jobs.

How do people secure business loans for start up costs?

    Posted: 03 May 2021 05:29 PM PDT

Just curious what other people experiences have been in securing business loans for start up costs. I am starting a small retail shop, and banking with a large bank that I have used for personal banking for years. I opened my business account 2 years ago, but haven't got off the ground until now. I'm looking to secure about $150K for inventory, retail displays, and general operating funds. I have near perfect personal credit, and other assets, but I would rather not use that as collateral. I was hoping to secure the loan against the inventory, but the bank seems to say that they don't do loans in that way. Is this pretty much the status quo for banks in the US? Should I expect lots of push back on lending until I get established?

New business looking for a bank - best bank for getting an SBA loan?

    Posted: 03 May 2021 12:11 PM PDT

I have a new business (wholesale coffee roasting with plans to add cafes in the future.) I'm trying to decide on a bank to use. My most important criteria is access to capital - I'd like to get an SBA loan in a couple of years when I need a new roaster or want to add a second cafe. Are there certain banks that are more active and amenable to SBA loans?

Resident Management and Small Business Ownership: A Tax Break Made in Heaven?

    Posted: 04 May 2021 01:16 AM PDT

If I were a resident manager for a multi-unit building receiving free rent and utilities as compensation, and I was an owner operator of a small business (for arguments sake, a California LLC), could I write off my calculated rent if I also use one of the bedrooms in that apartment as the office for my small business?

Can I use a fictitious name ( DBA) as my company name if there is already an established LLC with the same name?

    Posted: 03 May 2021 04:26 PM PDT

Ok so here is a quick rundown. I am in the midst of starting my own company in South Carolina. After a thorough search, I have found that my to-be company name was an already formed LLC in South Carolina. They are in the same region and same industry. I know this is a big no-no. However, they filled last year (for the first time) in the very beginning of COVID lock-down. After searching more into this alleged company, they do not have an operating business, nor do they have any evidence of actually existing at any point in time. I checked on the USPTO.com website and there is no registered trade mark. The only way I was able to find them was due to the business name search tool provided by the sc.gov website. In addition, in the search results, under the business entity field, it says "former" next to the LLC name. In example, "Legal Advice Subreddit former" is what I see for the company. What I speculate happened is that someone attempted to start a company (during the covid lockdown) but it fell through due to the COVID lockdown.

Now I am very confused. The company is not active nor does it have any online presence or services provided. But they do have a registered LLC. The address provided on public file is someone's home address.

    My Question

If I wanted to name my business in example Legal Advice Subreddit, but there is an existing formed LLC name Legal Advice Subreddit LLC. Can I still operate under Legal Advice Subreddit if I use a different LLC name (Like LASR, LLC) and then assign a DBA or fictitious name as Legal Advice Subreddit for my company? Or is there a loophole how I can use my desired name since the other company appears to be non-operable?

    My thoughts/final questions:

    - If I use the name and my business grows substantially, can the existing LLC sue me for using a fictitious name that is the same as their LLC name?

    - The company is not active, should I approach the LLC (more than likely a single person) and attempt to buy the rights?

I apologize in advanced for any grammar. Also I hope this makes sense, if not yall will be sure to let me know :D. Thank you in advance Reddit!

    Sms to email app

    Posted: 03 May 2021 10:56 PM PDT

Hi all. I'm looking for a service that allow me to send/receive texts for a flat rate in this manner:

Client sends an sms I get an email. I reply to email. Client gets an sms in their thread.

Closest I've found is Google voice and Voip.ms

I don't like the idea of paying ler message as with voip.ms as if a convo gets long. It quickly costs more.

Google voice's small paid version doesn't meet my needs as far as specifying which email I'm signing up with since thr email I'm using is a Google workspace group email.

Ideally I'd be looking for 5 to 8/mo.

Let me know if y'all have any thoughts.
