    How do I get clients??

    Posted: 20 Jan 2022 11:34 PM PST

I started my own company in Octobet last year and I'm really struggling to find clients. Im in South Africa if that makes a difference. The company is in corporate wellness and I focus on employee wellness programmes. I'm doing everything I know how to do but I just don't get any interest. Here is what I've done/do:

I have a business Facebook and Instagram page plus LinkedIn which I post on at least 4 days a week. I share information local community and business Facebook groups. Almost zero interest here.

    I have a great website.

I have sent out so many cold calling emails to businesses with great info graphics - not one response.

I don't know what else to do. How do I reach my potential client base?

    Any suggestions are hugely appreciated!

Looking to find businesses to onboard on to our SaaS for Free?

    Posted: 21 Jan 2022 01:43 AM PST

We have just completed our development phase on creating a service for OTT (Streaming Platform). We have done the hard technical build which consist of building the backend services and a quick to launch website and mobile apps (iOS / Android).

We are about to populate the system with "dummy" content to showcase our system, but thought it might be best to onboard 3 businesses for free with real content - and using this to showcase and marketing.

Where would i start looking to find small to medium size businesses to do so?

Literally any business who has video content, will benefit for using our platform to either gain traffic audience or monetise via subscription or ads.

i think any of these can work:

    • Fitness videos
    • Cooking videos
    • How to..
    • News and informative media
    • Education
    • Podcasting

We are more technical than marketeers, hence the question here.

Preempting loss of all workshop staff

    Posted: 21 Jan 2022 12:36 AM PST

    It's been a shit week.

I've got a workshop employee showing a huge amount of disrespect to me and my co-owner(my brother) which is unusual. He's making comments about his treatment which is essentially paranoia, us talking and laughing about him- there is absolutely no truth to it my brother and I have never had a bad word to say about him.

He's told other employees we can "get fucked" because we reminded him of not vaping in the workshop and to maintain hygiene - outlined in our Code of Practice, and a cancellation of overtime ( 2 hours a week). He's told us twice this week he's leaving early because it's too hot- we live in Western Australia, it's a hot state. My brother and I believe it might be an ageist thing as we're in our thirties and he's nearing 50.

On top of that our other employee, green but a great worker with a great disposition has mentioned his former employer has offered him 50% more than what he's earning here(doubtful) but he didn't like working outside in the heat so he's not taking him up on the offer. The icing on the cake is he is the best friend of the aforementioned employee.

The writing is on the wall right?

HELP: Software/Programme to manage a small rental fleet.

    Posted: 20 Jan 2022 10:50 PM PST

    Hi everyone,

Looking for some suggestions with regards to managing a rental fleet of about 50 forklifts.

Currently, everything is very manual and old school if you will, but I would like to know if there is something out there that could help manage everything a little better. Keep track of more important info and history on the machines.

Basically, I am looking for something that will assist in letting me know the details of the forklift, where it currently is or has been previously, what the overall rental time period is, the service history or maintenance schedule and maybe some other added features.

If you know of something that might be able to help, please let me know.

    Thanks. :)

    A hobby business?

    Posted: 20 Jan 2022 10:20 PM PST

My passion and love for knowledge is coins. Buying and selling them all day long but I'm starting to feel like it is almost completely taken over by the silver and gold market. Any ideas how you would operate a good online coin shop?

    Family business struggles

    Posted: 20 Jan 2022 09:48 PM PST

So I am reaching out to this group because I am genuinely torn about a business I started with my brother and how to proceed.

I started the company 8 years ago, I was a recent grad at 22 years old. I got tired of job searching with the mentality that I could do it myself. I had a background in love Event production and production management. Decided that my best course of action was to take my savings and build a company myself. At the time I realized we could expand our offerings by including video production and asked my youngest brother if he would be interested in joining, at the time he was 15 years old. He happily agreed and the company was born.

Running a business was more work than I expected, especially with only $4k to do it. My parents gave me a $15k investment for 10% equity and my brother was given 15% in sweat equity. I built into the agreement that my brother had to go to college and receive his degree in 6 years or else he would forfeit his shares as an incentive to finish school.

Fast forward to present day and I have built it into a multi-million dollar company. Not without a number of years working part time jobs and living at my parents house to make the dream a reality.

My brother through his time at school worked on a few projects as they came, but I always made sure that he was compensated in one way or another. Since he graduated during the pandemic has now joined the team back as a full time job. We have grown significantly since then.

I am now finding myself in situations where my brother as a co-founder is undermining my decisions. We have had discussions about this and why we need to act as a unified front to our employees , but he continues to do it. He feels as if he is an employee instead of a partner, which I understand. But acts as if he is both.

Recently while I was on vacation he voiced his opinions about company policies regarding time tracking calling it bullshit during a staff meeting he was in charge of leading in my absence. He never brought it up with me or discussed his concerns. We had discussions about actions like this previously and am torn on what I should do. It is clear insubordination and has minimized my impact on my staff. This is following multiple instances that are similar.

Being my brother I am hurt by this distrust and what feels like betrayal. As a repeated action, What would be your course of action?

Do I need a business credit card before I purchase the needed things for my business?

    Posted: 20 Jan 2022 09:31 PM PST

I have never used a credit card, I only use debit, so I'm really new to credit cards. I did take some classes to understand a little about it. But do I really need it? Is it absolutely necessary?

Getting address for direct mail marketing?

    Posted: 20 Jan 2022 09:19 PM PST

I run a afterschool program on the weekdays and I have started some extracurricular activity class on the weekends. Enrollment for the weekend classes so far has been pretty low. The students for the weekend classes are mainly students that already attend the afterschool program. I have a pretty good number of students in the afterschool program and that mainly just grew thru word of mouth and slowly thru time. I am thinking of ways to advertise so people know that my business now offers weekend classes. I am thinking about offering two free classes so people can try out the class to see if they like it. Where would I be able to get the mailing address of people in my area that has kids so I can send them a postcard telling about my trial weekend classes?

Steps to launch a new buisness?

    Posted: 20 Jan 2022 12:37 PM PST

I am a trained professional in the theater field. After a long time, and the impact of COVID, I have reached the point where I want to be in control of creating my own opportunities. At the same time I have recognized the lack of accessible and affordable theater for both artist and audience. As well as rehearsal space. I live in an area with a really large tourist industry and established arts programming and there is a demand. I have the skeletons of a buisness plan for the merging of a coffee shop/bar that has theater space and art programming, but I have such a hard time knowing where to go with this next.

My biggest concern is the initial funding for this. I have some funds to put towards it, but honestly it isn't nearly enough for the upfront cost and though I am working on this I also would love to hear other ways to secure funds.

I have the experience from the industry standpoint. I have helped manage small buisnesses and create arts programming, I have years of restaurant experience, years of theaters and production experience, as well as event management. I know that there will be things I don't know entering into this, but I have a solid foundation and understanding of both industries.

What I really need to know is an outline of steps to develop the buisness and secure funds to move this forward. I think I get stuck because I see the big picture and the big steps that need to happen, but I have a hard time carving out the smaller early steps. Resources, advice, stories of how you started off and what you wish you did or didn't do are all helpful. I feel frozen at the moment and would love some guidance. Thank you!!
