Just found out a big company is just doing what i was doing for my startup. what should i do. Posted: 20 Dec 2021 02:33 AM PST I normally try to avoide "entrepreneurship" and "start-up" advice articles. Generally its someone that was immensely privileged to start off and then tries to re-write their narrative. Anyways, I still will scan these articles for tidbits and came across this list by the jotform founder. (https://www.entrepreneur.com/article/400056) It's an awesome article and many of the tips go counter to common start-up advice, like going it alone, don't rush for VC money, etc. So I thought I'd share the link in case anyone wants a quick read of what a really succesful CEO thinks about starting, running, and scaling a business. I changed my mindset. My new startups will be about positivity :) Posted: 15 Dec 2021 11:47 AM PST Hey peeps :) I wanted to share my perspective on startups and how I changed my mindset. I've been building products for years, most of them failed. Like everyone it was a rollercoaster every time. Few weeks ago I decided to change my mindset and start looking at things more positively. Generally I'm a talkative, happy and optimistic person but when I was working on startups it was all just about money and success. My decision is to focus my new startups on people, feelings and positivity. I will put money, success and earnings on the side. I want to spread positivity and optimism around me so people can feel the same as I feel, so people can feel happy and joyful. We live in a hateful world, media pushes negativity, people are more sad than happy... I will give my best to change that :) Cheers all ;) [link] [comments] |
Posted: 15 Dec 2021 12:18 PM PST Hey fam! We're in early stages of launching a discord community for users of our product (as well as potential new users) centered around our space. Would love to hear your best advice on discord structure (great channels to have, maybe fun bots you use, other automations) that you have found useful/fun in other discord channels you are a part of [link] [comments] |
My open source search engine has become very popular - VCs reaching out, Need advice Posted: 14 Dec 2021 10:59 AM PST Hello friends, I built an open source search engine (An elasticsearch alternative that is much simpler and lighter and is written in Go) and released it 11 days ago. It is one of the fastest growing projects on github gaining 3.9k stars already. 3 VCs have reached out to me and want me to start a company. I am thinking to quit my full time job and do this. Any advice on things I should be careful of. [link] [comments] |
How likely am I to be sued by my current employer for developing an app? Posted: 14 Dec 2021 05:22 AM PST I am building an app that is completely unrelated to the business purpose of my dayjob. Only reasonable connection I can possibly draw is that my app's backend is written in python and mysql which are languages that I use at my dayjob...and also largely learned at my dayjob. I'm afraid that my boss may sue me for spending so much time on it. I never worked on it at work...I have talked about it at work with coworkers...but never worked on it there. I don't think anyone could argue that my work ethic at work has declined substantially. Am I overcautious? How do I prevent my boss from suing me? [link] [comments] |
