Video Interview with Liberty Mutual, anxious

    Posted: 19 Nov 2021 06:27 AM PST

Hi all, I'm really trying to land a job as an auto claims adjuster. I had my phone interview on Wednesday and now I have a virtual interview on Monday. I'm so nervous because I actually want this job, but I'm a horrible interviewee. I'm a little awkward so questions like "tell me a little about yourself" , "what are your salary requirements?" , and "describe a time you had to deal with a difficult employee" really scare me. Also, I feel like I'm going to overshare when they ask why I left my last job and I really don't want to, but I'm not sure how not to. A big concern of mine is salary because if I do get the job, I'm going to be so excited that I know I'd accept like 40k, but I know that's low for the position. I have a year of experience as a claims rep, 10 years of experience with customer service, and a lot of experience with holding many titles and multitasking. I'm sure I'll like the job, but yeah. Please help

What do health insurance companies gain by working with wellness providers or services like Teladoc?

    Posted: 19 Nov 2021 12:25 PM PST

I've noticed that, through my employer, I have access to wellness services like calm, or limeade, and also access to medical services like teladoc. Do insurance companies have to pay to be allowed to give those services, or are they paid to deliver those services? I'm just curious about the incentives that drive health insurance companies to provide those services in the first place. Or maybe I'm really asking who their customer is?

Declared not at fault for accident but both insurance companies are disputing liability - what now?

    Posted: 19 Nov 2021 07:42 AM PST

I'm 25 and on my parents car insurance.

I was in an accident in my neighborhood Monday night at a 4 way stop.

I just got a call from Geico saying they are declaring me not at fault. But, both insurance companies are disputing liability.

The other drivers insurance is Erie.

Total cost to repair my car is $2,300. My parents deductible is $500.

This is my first ever accident so I feel kind of lost and clueless with the process.

My parents say there is nothing to worry about from here.

But What happens now? Will the two insurance companies work it out or will I / my parents need to do something (or be sued)?

Insurance Co. is asking me to change the odometer reading on the title after I sent it an and was paid out?

    Posted: 19 Nov 2021 02:48 PM PST

A few months ago, I submitted a claim for my totaled car, and was paid out once I sent in the title - At that time, I was asked to leave the odometer reading blank, and check the box that said "Is Not the actual mileage. Warning Odometer discrepancy", so I did that.

A few weeks after I was paid out, they called and explicitly asked me to guess a number and send in the title again. Is this normal or should I be worried?

Here's a picture of the part of the title in question:

Health Insurance cancelled before grace period was over (WA)

Health insurance cancelled before grace period was over (WA)

My girlfriend recently got health insurance and had it on autopay. The first two payments went through just fine but the third payment, which was due on October 28th, did not go through. She tried to make an appointment at a doctor a week or so ago and was notified that her insurance was no longer active. She logged in to see what had happened and it said that she owed $0 and did not say anything else. No option to pay or anything. She was finally able to call them today and they said that her policy was cancelled because of non-payment, but it is still within the 30 days grace period AND she never received any notification about this. They said that she will have to wait 2-3 business days to reinstate her coverage, but she had to pay around $100 today for a doctor's appointment and may have to see a doctor tomorrow for something unrelated but urgent, which she will have to pay for out of pocket.

My question is, is there anything that can be done to get her insurance to reimburse her for these visits? To me it seems like it should still be their responsibility especially if she was within the grace period before cancellation. I am going to have her file a complaint with her insurance to see if they will resolve it, and if not file a complaint with the state insurance commissioner. Anything else we should do? Are we in the right here?

Give statement to at-fault driver’s insurance (MI)

    Posted: 19 Nov 2021 12:36 PM PST

In Michigan, a driver ran into me, was issued a citation and this was documented in a police report.

I have filed a claim through my insurance. Other driver's insurance has asked for a statement.

Pros/cons to giving my statement? I asked my insurance company in general and they didn't help. I have a call into the adjuster to see if it might have bearing on getting my deductible back, or if it doesn't matter because my deductible may be waived (not sure if that will be the case, adjuster said may be depending on their investigation).

getting renters insurance with a dog bite past

    Posted: 19 Nov 2021 12:06 PM PST

I am potentially going to help out and take in a small dog (jack russell) from a family member that can no longer care for it, but it has a bite history making renters insurance next to impossible to get if I do. This dog defended itself as a puppy (<1) when someone was grabbing it from a nap. It was many years back and the dog has aged and is super chill and friendly. Still, that person's doctor filed a record on him for procedure with any dog bite treatment. I'm hesitant to help take him but I know he doesn't stand a chance if he is surrendered. And I really do want to take him cause he's my buddy… How would it affect my renter's policy and what should I look for for alternate coverage assuming most companies will give a flat "no"?

early termination of progressive snapshot ?

    Posted: 19 Nov 2021 05:29 AM PST

I admittedly drive like a grandma and all my friends hate riding with me for that, but I have had the snapshot device for 2 weeks with 0 detriments… does anyone know if their algorithm will complete my snapshot early if I go 3 months without any events?

When I had progressive years ago, it was only a requirement to have snapshot for 1 month.

    Car totalled, underinsured motorist

    Posted: 19 Nov 2021 10:51 AM PST

About 2 months ago my truck was hit parked on the side of the road(wasn't in it). The driver who hit me also totalled their vehicle and hit a car infront of mine.

I used their insurance(SF) to cover it.

The insurance company didn't put me in a rental car for 7 days, I had to call and ask for one.

My truck sat at a wrecking yard for a month, before ever getting towed to a shop, I contacted SF at least 5 times asking them to help push it along, or get it moved. They never once called to update or let me know anything... said some BS about a system glitch.

It then was at the shop getting estimated for about a month and now is being called a total loss.

They offer me around 45k for it, repairs are 30k.

Then they call me back and said the other party dosent have enough insursnce to cover, it after paying out the other two parties involved.

What should I do? Go through my insurance? Call an attorney? Post on reddit :)

Car Totaled, fault was not mine, should I get a lawyer?

    Posted: 19 Nov 2021 10:32 AM PST

My car was totaled by someone who didn't have car insurance, but I had UIM coverage with my AAA. Fault was the other driver's as I was waiting at a red light when he crossed the red light then into me. I didn't sustain extreme injuries, but my foot and back, as well as chest got a bit banged up. I am currently unemployed. The insurance already paid out my car. The person at triple a wanted to settle for about $3k but my father recommended I get a lawyer. Is this a cut and dry case? Do I need a lawyer to represent me? Will I come out whole if this lawyer represents me and takes a third of the payout since the ER visit and chiropracting is a bit expensive? I can't imagine I will get any other type of compensation except medical and if the lawyer takes a third of that then won't I still need to pay for that 1/3 chunk for the lawyer leaving me with not enough to pay the bills? My chiropractor seems keen on me getting the help from a lawyer friend of his that deals with car accidents.

Edit: Also, my chiropractor wanted a copy of my policy coverage to see if I have medical payments on my policy, but the person who gave me a print out of my policy coverage at in the triple a building said I shouldn't give it to him. I'm getting a lot of mixed signals.

Florida Insurance (Car Accident) Scenario Question

    Posted: 19 Nov 2021 06:17 AM PST

If my grandma is a passenger of a car that is at fault and she goes to the hospital. How do medical bills get paid:

    1. Can her medicaid or medicare pay for the bill?
    2. Does she have to pay for the bill out of pocket (what if she is 90 years old with dementia/schizophrenia)?
    3. Does the car at fault pay for some of the bill and then the medicaid/care pay the rest?

Also is this legal for an insurance company to do?

Can the insurance company go after the owner of the house she lives (which he has nothing to do with it) and ask him to pay for the rest of the medical bills even if she is not under the owners car insurance?

    Thank you for the help,

    Manny

How to find healthcare plans with low out-of-pocket max (Michigan)

    Posted: 19 Nov 2021 09:58 AM PST

I don't want to run afoul of the solicitation rules here but can anyone point to resources where I might find health insurance with low out-of-pocket max?

My employer plan OOP max went from $1000 (individual)/$2000 (family) to $8150/$16300. Someone on our plan will definitely hit the $8,150. I understand my employer plan is subsidized and still might be the best option, but there's basically a $7,150 difference there.

I tried healthcare.gov but the lowest I found was $6900 (individual).

3rd Party Insurance Claim, Choosing a body shop?

    Posted: 19 Nov 2021 09:08 AM PST

I'm in MD. I was rear ended and the other person's insurance has accepted liability. They estimated $1700 in damages, which seems really low. They told me to take the estimate to the shop of my choice. The insurance company is Geico and I kind of expected they'd want me to go to an in network shop, but that doesn't seem to be the case. I'm kind of nervous with how low the estimate is. How do I go about this?

I just bought an import but I am having trouble insuring it

    Posted: 19 Nov 2021 08:17 AM PST

I know this sounds cliche and perhaps stupid but I bought an import with the intention of daily driving it, I was trying to register it but for that I needed insurance. No biggie right? WRONG, I have gone through so many companies telling me I need to have a primary driver, I show them the policy I co-own on a car I drive and it isn't sufficient since it's my parent's policy. I've been trying to insure this car for the last day or two to no avail. What the hell can I do? I live in a state where auto insurance is mandatory. I just want to insure the damn thing already, I can't do standard insurance, I can only really do Agreed Upon Value insurance. Someone help please

Shopping for homeowners insurance with withdraw claim reported on file.

    Posted: 19 Nov 2021 05:37 AM PST

So i'm shopping around for homeowners insurance for a small 1st-floor condo which is my primary residence and I recently learned rates are crazy high at $900+ year and was told it's due to a withdrawal claim on file.

My current insurance provider sent me a letter saying they ceased writing condo property insurance for South Carolina and only have 2 months to find new coverage somewhere else. My rate was low $270 a year. A few years back 3rd-floor unit had a dishwasher blow out and flood the second unit out and damage the ceilings in my 1st-floor condo. I reported it to my insurance and they sent someone out to inspect and immediately said my HOA will fully cover it as it involves multiple units. My insurance withdrew the claim quickly so I won't get hit on premiums and sent an official letter. So I went through my HOA and they fully covered all repairs so I didn't have to use my insurance. All was great until now.

Now that I have no choice but to shop for new insurance, I'm being told by multiple insurance companies they can't exclude the claim since it's reported as damage occurred. So now i'm labeled as high risk. Had I known, I would have never contacted my insurance.

    Any advice in this situation?

Body Shop set my S5 on fire. Doesn’t want to use their insurance.

    Posted: 18 Nov 2021 11:56 PM PST

Edit - I've realized with lowered anxiety that r/LegalAdvice is probably the best place to post this thread. I'll continue to update here out of respect for anyone who is following. I apologize to anyone who's time I wasted by posting this in r/Insurance. I'm grateful for all the advice I've been given

Brought my Audi S5 coupe to a reputable local body shop for rocker panels and a dent below and behind the passenger's door. As of Wednesday evening they had finished the body work and had it taped off ready to paint.

They called and left a message the following morning at 9:30am sounding anxious and asking me to contact them. When I got in touch they told me that they had accidentally ignited the speaker foam around my rear passenger side speaker and that it went up fast. The Fire Dep came and ultimately got control of the situation. The shop owner told me that the speaker is burnt up but that the fire damage was limited there. He told me the car had filled with smoke and that it smelled "like a campfire that someone's been throwing plastic cups in all night". He said he was having a hard time sourcing a replacement speaker but that he would reach out to the dealership. He said his reconditioning guys are all super backed up but that he was figuring out how to get the car reconditioned. It seems clear that he doesn't want to go through his insurance.

I'm pretty shocked and wondering if any Reddit friends have advice on how to handle this. The shop is reputable but I've never heard of them being involved with or mitigating something like this. I'm at least a little worried about the quality of the remediation, let alone the down time on my car.

I called my primary mechanic (who doesn't do body work) and he was shocked too. He suggested that I insist on the insurance company getting involved. I'm having a lot of anxiety about this so any jokes or advice are super appreciated

    UPDATE:

I've just returned from inspecting the S5. The damage is less than I would have expected but not at all negligee. I've uploaded a video for your interest: https://vimeo.com/647864691. I also have an image of the no longer functioning speaker https://imgur.com/a/5lfBgxD.

The owner of the shop was unavailable when I visited but has since called me. He's been reasonable to speak to on the phone, although falling short of giving me a complete assurance that remediation will be 100%, or a timeline on the reconditioning, or offering additional compensation for either my time or more importantly my rental. I'm planning to take those issues up with him, as necessary, when I hear back about the timeline for recon… hopefully before the end of business today.

At this time I'm inclined to let him try to solve this. Although most advice has directed me to try to involve insurance and although I'm worried about the lack of complete assurance and details, it feels like the reasonable thing to do…

Issues with the Insurance Company Contacting Their Insured Driver

    Posted: 18 Nov 2021 04:03 PM PST

Hi Everyone, hoping I can get some help with an auto insurance question.

My daughter was rear-ended and the other driver's insurance arranged for an appraisal that they now have. They haven't authorized repairs yet as they have not been able to speak with the driver of their insured vehicle. Other than just going through my insurance, is there any way to get them to move forward? How long can they delay this? We're in a bit of a time crunch as she is planning on moving across the country in January and needs her car repaired before she goes. We have pictures of both vehicles and it clearly shows rear-end damage on our car and front-end damage on theirs.

    Thanks!

Help. State of Florida’s People First is threatening to take away my health insurance due to falling under their 30 hour a week work requirement.

    Posted: 18 Nov 2021 07:39 PM PST

I am an OPS employee in an university. My hours cap at 40 per week. Typically I work the 40 hours unless health reasons or holidays prevent me.

Over the summer I traveled back to my home country for a month, but I had a health emergency and ended staying another month under doctor's recommendations.

Fast forward to last week, I got a letter from the state of Florida saying that due to having worked less than 30 hours per week in 12 months, I will lose my health insurance.

I am currently looking for some of the doctors notes from that time period to show the state that it was due to health reasons.

What else can I do? What are the chances that they'll take my benefits away?

    Any advice would be appreciated.

How do time of day events on Travellers Intellidrive affect your performance?

    Posted: 18 Nov 2021 07:05 PM PST

I've used Intellidrive for 65 days (out of 90) and my performance is excellent. I just started a new job and I will have to drive during rush hour both morning and afternoon so I will get at least two time of day events for probably 17-18 days of the next 25. Will this be enough to lower my score to the point that I fail the program?
