Dentist took out the wrong tooth Posted: 25 Nov 2021 06:22 AM PST I know this is not as serious of a topic as others but, my bf went to the orthodontist today and they instructed the dentist to extract the wrong tooth and just shrugged it off like "oops wrong one, well you're going to have to come in next week to remove the right one" (I mean they didn't just shrug it off, they apologized but still....like its your job to make sure its the right one man). My boyfriend doesn't want to do anything, he's too nice and doesn't want to sue or demand anything because "They seemed like a nice person". But he is really emotionally affected by it since it's a permanent tooth that won't come back. I want him to at least get a fake tooth as compensation or smth or demand the next appointment to be free, but he doesn't even want to do that. Am I exaggerating? what do you think would be the solution to this problem. This is in the UK btw and the tooth that was extracted was the first molar in the lower right side of the jaw. My father left everything to my brother and i and his aunt and brother took it. Posted: 25 Nov 2021 10:52 AM PST My father recently passed away. He and my mother were never married and they were separate for most of my life, but my brother and i still saw our father often. He also had equal or less contact with his side of the family. After he passed away we needed to collect his belongings from where he lived but i was too emotional to go at the time and my brother lives multiple states away. He had no will but it was apparent to eveyone he associated with that he wanted everything (except 3-4 items) to go to my brother and i. and from my knowledge, if there is no will, legally all of that belongs to his next of kin (us). Since we couldn't go, our uncle and great aunt on my dads side went to retrieve it for us. But instead of giving it to us they only gave us his clothes, photos, kitchen supplies, and some home decor. They kept and began to sell thousands of dollars worth of music equipment and power tools as well as a lot of sentimentally valuable items. We've contacted detectives and lawyers about how we can get the stuff back or at least be compensated for the value but we're running into walls. What can we do? We're in wisconsin if that helps [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Nov 2021 09:31 AM PST Angry Husband Here. Wife is a sales manager with 7 other men in her office room. One is harassing her.
He asks her whats she doing everytime after he mentions his wife and newborn baby is out of town. Wife tries to not engage saying she needs to work and he'll literally sit behind my wife and just watch her do her work for a while making her freeze up and feel awful. She thought she handled it the first time, when she realized he wanted to watch movie alone and not with significant others when he grabbed her hand she left awkwardly and next day he said he watched movie with wife. This time after he touched her hair and thigh she said she doesn't like to be touched and he apologized like 10 times and said is she okay and that he is so sorry.... she thinks it's handled this time..... I told her to go to HR, she said she will go next time 100%, but she thinks he gets the message. I really really really want to fuck this guy up. Physically, Mentally, and monetarily. I'm assuming since she hasn't gone to HR at all and only told her other sales managers she is friends with about it, no one is at fault at all and she literally has to tell HR to get this scum to be fired or stop for good. Right? Any advice on legal side? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Nov 2021 11:30 AM PST My stepson bio mom lost custody following a felony charge of child endangerment. My husband and I went to court and my husband was granted sole custody. This was more than a year ago. Last night, I was assaulted by my husband and called 911. My husband left before police arrived, leaving my SS with me. I was told by police to file an EPO on Friday due to them being closed today for Thanksgiving and to have no contact with my husband. My husband called this morning from my SS bio mom's number, so I answered not knowing it was him. After him asking me to gather a few of his things that he could collect from a neighbor he asked about his son. He told me he was bouncing from house to house, so I told him SS could stay with me to keep him from experiencing that. Some conversing later, husband agreed to let SS stay with me to continue homeschooling and otherwise caring for him for an undetermined amount of time to hopefully reduce trauma. Should note that SS requested to stay with me. A matter of hours later, husband calls back and says he now wants his son and doesn't want to have to go through 911. Idk if I should or shouldn't take him to him. Obviously my husband has custody. I'm not trying to keep them apart. I am worried that because there was an assault that I could get in trouble for returning him, and conversely due to me being a step parent, in trouble if I don't. I've had CPS involved before due to a domestic issue and my bio child was not allowed to be around my husband until it was approved by them due to it being violence. This was a long time ago so I'm not sure what to do. I did call the police that responded last night and all they would say is that if I didn't give him back it could be custodial interference and I could go to jail but that CPS would need to determine if it was safe for him to be around his dad who is accused of violent behavior. I do have a bio child also so I don't want to mess up either way and lose her too. I'm well aware that my stepson won't be able to stay with me long term because I'm not his blood relative and I will lose hin at some point. I just really don't know what to do. Police said they would try to reach out to CPS but no guarantee due to holiday. I literally have nobody to ask that has any kind of authority. I'm making a big deal out of it for the reasons stated above, but also because he just really doesn't want to go anywhere else. I'm afraid to take him anywhere and him run away or something. I mean I don't think he would, but I can't be completely certain. I know he doesn't really have a choice where he goes but I don't want him to get hurt or something trying to change his situation on his own. Please help. [link] [comments] |
Camera in 11 year olds bedroom? Posted: 25 Nov 2021 10:42 AM PST I will try to provide all the key details while not identifying myself. This is in Tennessee. Mother and father were unmarried when child was born. Father is not on birth certificate. There is no legal custody order. Both parents have since married. It has been mutually agreed upon that 11 year old spends Mon-Fri in one household, and weekends at the other. Child has been increasingly reluctant lately to go to one of the homes. My spouse was able to get them to open up, and they had a long list of reasons why they don't want to go to the other home. Some were typical childhood complaints, some were more concerning. The biggest issue is that there is a camera in the bedroom. Child says that the camera records all the time they are home, with parent and step parent having access. The camera has been an issue in the past. My spouse and I were under the impression that it had been removed. Is it legal to have a camera in an 11 year old's bedroom? What happens if we refuse to allow child over there until it is gone? [link] [comments] |
Customer didn't pay in our shop ($650) Posted: 25 Nov 2021 03:42 AM PST We asked them to pay but they just said "I'll pay later" and left the store but I didn't chase after them since they've been a close and trusted customer for two years. But later that day we had a fight over a call about payment and her saying she'll pay later. Then today she sent a screenshot of the receipt of the payment through a bank app but I didn't get any payment on my end + my name on her receipt was wrong. I've taken screenshots of the receipt and a text of her asking for my bank account information. In Australia Edit: ill try to call her on a different phone because she blocked me. If that doesnt wprk im calling the police [link] [comments] |
Michigan senior woman, 81 yo, admit to medical rehab, being told that she can not leave Posted: 25 Nov 2021 11:31 AM PST 10/30/21 my 80 year old aunt was taken from her home to hospital due to not being able to breath. Was Covid positive. Spent 10 days in hospital with some confusion. She thought she had been kidnapped and was being held hostage. She was sent to a rehab. She has been there 16 days. She wants to go home. They are saying no. They want family to agree to put her in assisted living. They say her confusion and not being able to stand for more than three minutes are the reasons. She has one adult child that lives near by. This person is willing to help as much as possible. What can this family do? Thank you for your help. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Nov 2021 12:16 PM PST I've contacted Texas Auction Dept. they say since it was online out of their hands. They are not registered with the BBB. My bank said they couldn't reverse the charge. I re-started my claim with my bank again. I have all records of my phone calls, text messages, map of me going to pick up item, They said it was buried in the back, come back tomorrow. I called the next day, no answer. Left message, no callback. The next day they said they sold it to someone else. Still have my $170.00 What can I do? If I go to small claims can I ask for late fees and penalties? They have had my money for 3 months now. I have emails saying they will refund me but never did. [link] [comments] |
Landlord is audio and video recording me without my consent. Posted: 25 Nov 2021 12:36 PM PST To start off, I live in OR USA. I overheard my landlords talking last night about my personal life (things that they could only know if they have a camera with audio and video recording). I think they want me out, but they don't have any evidence of wrongdoing besides video footage of me occasionally vaping cannabis. They have never confronted me about any problems, and when I asked if everything was okay two months ago (I've been overhearing them talking as if they could hear and see me for a while now, but started to believe I might be hallucinating which was incredibly traumatic) they said everything was fine and they just wanted me to feel comfortable here. Well I can safely say I feel uncomfortable as fuck now! I believe I overheard her last night saying she was going to break in and remove the camera, so I cancelled all of my Thanksgiving plans with friends to sit here and stand guard. I'm angry, depressed, and so many other things. Please let me know what I should do. [link] [comments] |
Cops said they won’t press charges if I come in and talk Posted: 25 Nov 2021 12:10 PM PST Should I trust the cops when they said just come in a tell us your story of what happened and we won't press charges? Can they lie to me [link] [comments] |
am i being scammed? renting in florida Posted: 25 Nov 2021 03:06 PM PST I'm looking for a place to live and found a cute little house for cheap and got in contact with the person putting it up for rent. i got a weird vibe from the first email. they were taking about how they are going on a missionary trip/moving to San Antonio and want to rent the house while they're gone. they mention that they first thought of selling the place but recently decided to rent it so if i see it for sale it's actually not. they went on to say they expect the house to be clean and tidy to "make me smile when I come". i put aside the weirdness and sent back some info about when i was looking to move in, etc. they emailed back and said that they would receive the security deposit via Zelle or money order and that i would have to pay before getting the keys or any documents, including the lease. i will post the entire email in a comment but I'm just wondering if this is odd behavior and how to protect myself? edit: thanks guys, i will definitely NOT be renting this place. Guy won’t stop showing up at my house after telling him to leave me alone multiple times Posted: 25 Nov 2021 01:19 PM PST I (21F) have a guy that I used to be friends with for 4 years and he confessed his feelings for me 2 months ago, when my long time boyfriend proposed to me. I rejected him obviously and he went off on me, sent me inappropriate pictures and I blocked him. He's made multiple accounts to try to contact me again or he uses his friends accounts to try to contact me and I have blocked all of them. He stopped making the accounts but now he's been showing up at my house and leaving things unannounced (he'll leave flowers, chocolates, stuffed animals, etc). He's done this at least 5 times in the last month. It's making me really anxious because I never know when he's coming. My family and myself have told him to stop multiple times but he's never listened and we document every time it happens. Is this enough to get some sort of restraining order or anything to make him stop? I live in Texas by the way, I don't know if it makes a difference [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Nov 2021 03:19 PM PST Hey everyone! First time poster but I have a question. A couple of years ago I was engaged to a guy (let's call him Sam), and I had a dog of my own and Sam and I picked out a puppy together. Since my lease was strict and he was a dog trainer, he kept the puppy at his parents house (where he lived) but it was agreed the dog was ours. Long story short, he had the dog for about 6 months before going to prison. Obviously we broke off our engagement, and I was pretty sure that Sam's parents would send our dog to the pound. So I went to his parents house, they gave me the dog, and I moved across the country. I have paid for all of the dogs vet bills and everything from the start and Sam's going to be getting out of prison in the next couple of years and I think he's going to want me to give the dog back. The problem is that I adore this dog and he's extremely protective of me and I've now had him for 5 times longer (it will be 10x longer) than my ex did. What do I need to do to prepare for this legal battle? Does he have a right to try and take the dog back? [link] [comments] |
Is what my boss making us do illegal? Posted: 25 Nov 2021 05:21 PM PST The company I work for is all about their rewards program and get all huffy if you aren't signing up enough people. My new boss wants us to ask the customer if they have an account and when they say no and that they don't want to sign up, he wants us to tell the customers we'll do an advanced search, so you ask for their first and last name and phone number, but instead of searching, you're actually signing them up. This just feels like it violates some sort of consumer rights, since they've already said they don't want to be signed up. He has told us that the district manager is aware of this method and supposedly the whole district uses this technique. [link] [comments] |
Can my employer take legal action against me if I don’t show up to work? Posted: 25 Nov 2021 04:44 PM PST I'm going on a flight in exactly 2 weeks from now. Reservations at my destination have been made. Today I was supposed to hand in my 2 weeks notice of resignation but my general manager wasn't present. If I don't show up to work and get myself voluntarily fired will I be given legal repercussions? [link] [comments] |
Haven’t had hot water for 3 weeks Posted: 25 Nov 2021 03:03 PM PST I'm currently living in an apartment near my university with some of my buddies. This place isn't the best place to live but it's all we can really afford atm. Anyways, about two months back we noticed that our hot water supply seemed to run much shorter than before. We used to never run out, but then after 10 minutes in the shower it'd be out. What we did initially was file for a maintenance request, and the guy that showed up wouldnt even check our hot water heater. He would just turn on the sink, point out the hot water, then leave. We tried to explain to him that we weren't completely out, we just haven't had near as much. But he just didn't listen. Well about three weeks ago we completely ran out of hot water, we figured one heating element initially broke and the second one crapped out after working in overdrive. We submitted another maintenance request soon after, and it took about a week for them to show up. Of course, it was the same guy. He immediately accused us of submitting false requests but he quickly realized how stupid he sounded after testing the water. He said he would fix only the top element for some reason, and that he'd have to order a replacement. It has now been 9 days since then and we've received no updates. I've read online that having no hot water is a major priority issue and should be fixed immediately, but we've been taking cold showers for the past 3 weeks. My roommates and I are tired of the lack of effort by the staff. We are thinking about a lawsuit, but we're not 100% knowledgeable with the landlord-tenant laws in kentucky. What do you think we should do? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Nov 2021 05:01 PM PST I'm in Arizona. I'm a single mom and I have a son that has several diagnosis and we're working on possibly others. Because of the C-virus I had to give up daycare and I only have my mom to watch my son when I work. The issue I have is if he's sick which seems to happen about every other week, I have to call in. I can't put him in daycare because my mom would freak and I can't lose her babysitting gig. I'm really worried about my job as this is my only form of money and truthfully no one is able to help me if I get fired. My boss has been amazing and it's been a slow time for us (which I'm sure helps a lot) but I also know my time is gonna be limited. So I was wondering should I get intermittent FMLA to help protect my butt from when I have to call in. If so how do I go about it- do I go to his pediatrician and ask for paperwork saying about how he tends to be sick? Or what? Thanks [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Nov 2021 09:47 AM PST Hello, I am using a throwaway account due to fears of being discovered here and I hope this is OK. I have been dealing with an obsessive, manipulative cyberstalker for six months with whom I have history with from a previous long distance relationship and her methods of harassment seem to be growing in animosity with each day that goes by. I have done my best to not engage and strictly block her whenever she pops up on social media to insult and send me abuse through various throwaway accounts but it is not enough and I am thinking of my legal options for the sake of my mental health and comfort. I am constantly anxious and paranoid. There are no immediate threats on my life but admittedly this continuous ordeal is truly taking its toll on me as I feel incredibly hopeless for what the future contains. I would like to know what my options are as, thankfully, we are many countries apart, but this must end before it spirals into something worse which is scary to imagine. Would it be worth it to contact my local law enforcement about this or am I simply meant to live with this for the rest of my life? Thank you for reading through this. [link] [comments] |
Want to leave roommates after just two weeks of staying with them. I have no contract. Posted: 25 Nov 2021 03:55 PM PST So, here's the gist of it. Last Nov 13 I moved into a condo shared by 3 people. Apparently, these people aren't really that nice and I want to move out. I haven't signed anything yet with the agent who helped me find my roommates. And technically, the condo's contract is signed with the name of one of my roommates. They're telling me I can't leave until someone replaces me but tbh, they both are horrible and I wanna leave. How bad can it get or can I get in trouble if I move out quickly? [link] [comments] |
Giant meme page stole my video. Anything I can do about it? Posted: 25 Nov 2021 03:53 PM PST I recently found out that a very large meme page posted a video I created without my permission. This was posted a few years ago but I just found it recently. From articles I found, this page was purchased for millions of dollars not too long ago. Is there anything I can do about this? It feels like my content was used (along with other stolen content) to make this page's original creator millions of dollars and that I should be paid something. Am I wrong? As far as I can tell it's not fair use. I am in the US and the page is as well as the new owning company. [link] [comments] |
