How to get Facebook to remove a profile impersonating my business and linking to a scam.

    Posted: 17 Sep 2021 01:11 PM PDT

We ran a contest that ended today. Shortly after a fake profile stole our pictures and shared a bunch of our posts. At a glance, it looks legit. They reposted our giveaway with a link for people to provide personal and credit card info.

All of our followers are reporting the page and Facebook keeps notifying us that the profile isn't "going against their community standards". We've reported the individual post as well.

Anyone have success getting a fake account removed?

Six figure business owner bored out his mind during lockdown looking for any businesses/start-ups that need help?

    Posted: 18 Sep 2021 02:50 AM PDT

Hey, my names Kevin I run a pretty successful business here in Sydney, Australia which is mostly service based. My main thing is social media marketing that I use to grow my own businesses and have been quite successful in the past.

Right now we're currently in a very strict lockdown due to the pandemic and I am stuck at home bored out of my mind. I thought this was a great time to maybe join/help out with any businesses/start-ups that could use my expertise.

Honestly, just thought this might be a good place to reach out and see what's out there. If you're worried I charge money or something don't be! There's no catch in fact the typical pricing business model I use when helping out businesses is you don't pay me unless you get paid first (usually a percentage of net profit) type thing.

But yeah, don't be afraid to hit me up no matter where you're from. The power of marketing means I can help you no matter where you are in the world 😃 also I'm really looking to use my time during this lockdown to help people out and be productive.

I now have a new skill and no idea how to market it.

    Posted: 18 Sep 2021 12:30 AM PDT

I am a certified network penetration tester as of yesterday. Here's my list of problems.

While I have a clue what type of business needs this service (any business with both internet and sensitive information on the computer), I'm not sure what type of business knows it needs this.

I also fear I'm going to have to educate the market.

Basically what I do is tell you if and how your internet can be hacked into, but I don't fix it. I give you a detailed report of what went wrong and someone else fixes it.

I know there's a ton of people making money doing exactly this, but compared to the types of work I'm used to doing I have no idea which way is up right now.

My current plan is to call a bunch of administrators at doctors offices and law firms and try to put on my sales hat. It's typically a pretty expensive thing to get done, but I have no idea about my prices. Most people charge around $3,000.

No business really hire for this skill, putting on the consultant hat is the best way to do this. That's the only thing I'm sure on.

Thinking of doing kickstarter, give me all your comments and opinions

    Posted: 17 Sep 2021 10:27 PM PDT

    Hey all,

My name is Mike, I am a student and a new entrepreneur. I have never launched a business before but decided to step out of my comfort zone and launch a product on Kickstarter. I had been working on it for the past two years. I would like to show it to you to see what you all think, what your comments, questions and criticism are. If you have any tips for me to help me grow it and reach more people, that would also be great as we are not enough to successfully fund the kickstarter.

The project is a "swiss-knife for parties". It is REAPER, the multi-functional lighter. Here is our instagram: https://www.instagram.com/reaperlighters/

Would love to hear from all the veterans, pros and newbies. All comments help! Thanks!!

    are giveaways worth it?

    Posted: 18 Sep 2021 03:55 AM PDT

i'm a REALLY small business, and i would like to get my name out there more, and someone in my tiktok comments said i should do a giveaway (i think mostly because they aren't able to buy one of my paintings which is understandable) however, i was thinking maybe if i hit a certain amount of sales or followers on social media, maybe i would do one so i could get my name out there some more. but i usually see people doing first second and third place winners, and i don't want to give away 3 of my paintings to 3 winners. i was thinking maybe if i gave coupons to second and third and a painting to 1st place, but i also don't feel like the coupons would be used and that people would only join the giveaway to win the 1st place prize. i was just wondering if anyone thinks it would be a good idea or if i should just try and get more sales and followers through normal marketing rather than a giveaway or competition.

TLDR; i want to run a competition or giveaway to gain more followers and sales but i don't know if it's a waste of time and my resources.

Suggestion for an affordable and trustable freelancer landing page designer/programmer

    Posted: 18 Sep 2021 03:39 AM PDT

    Dear entrepreneurs,

I have to make the landing page of a product and my design skills are very poor. I have already posted my project in freelancer, upwork and fiverr. But there are tons of requests and I am seeing most of them are not valuable.

If you have experience working with a freelancer to create a simple landing page and you are happy with the result, can you share her/his contact?

It is important to notice that I have very low budget for this (~100Euros) but the web site is very simple and I am not looking for nothing very fancy, just professional looking.

I need the html/css, not just the Figma/PSD design.

Squarespace is ignoring my pleas for tech support after submitting 3 tickets. What to do?

    Posted: 17 Sep 2021 11:24 PM PDT

The problem I'm having shouldn't exist, as it's missing an "EDIT" button for one of my Squarespace sites. I have another Squarespace site with the exact same theme and it does have the edit button.

It's likely some bizarre glitch which means I have to recreate a whole new website in order to fix the issue.

Because Squarespace has been a nightmare with regards to tech support, I am considering moving platforms or if I can resolve the issue I would rather just do that to save time.

    Cloud Expense Tracking

    Posted: 18 Sep 2021 03:00 AM PDT

Running a gym with a cafe.We are using virtuagym (gym management platform) to track billing and access control for members. Includes a POS for sales for cafe aswell. What we require is a simple expense tracking platform to manage purchases which can export to assist the accounts personnel to manage petty cash, approvals , payments to suppliers etc. Excel and paper requisition slips are becoming a nightmare to handle.

How late is a late payment? Should I withhold deliverable?

    Posted: 17 Sep 2021 12:29 PM PDT

I am a subcontractor for another company that is simply marking up my services to sell to one of their clients. The main deliverable (a large report) is due next week, but I have not received the first of two payments, which I invoiced and was due at the end of last week. It was payable in 30 days, and that time has passed. I have laid out my own cash to support writing this report. I'm thinking that if I don't get payment by next week, I don't sent the report to their client. Is that being too strict? I really don't know how to explain that to their client, who I've been working directly with. I have alerted my client, but they said they just got backed up. They've had 30 days.

I did search to see if there were similar posts, and I'm sure there are , but I could not find them. Thanks.

How to calculate holiday entitlement for part-time staff on flexible hours?

    Posted: 17 Sep 2021 11:36 AM PDT

I have a staff member that works 1 day a week usually, but he sometimes does more. What is the best way to calculate their holiday entitlement. The full time staff are entitled to 28 days a year. Could I just say that for every day he works he gets one hour of holiday?

Does my single member llc need to be an s-Corp for tax write offs / liability?

    Posted: 17 Sep 2021 06:11 PM PDT

I run a detailing business and formed the official llc yesterday. While registering for my EIN I was told by the irs that I would be classed as a single member llc.

I plan to deduct cost of business (ie my cleaning supplies) from my taxes. Am I still able to do this as a single member llc or do I need to file to become an s Corp?

Also a big reason I got the llc was to protect myself if something happens to someone's car. I wanted to make sure that someone could just sue the llc and not myself, but if I am a single member llc does this still apply?

Trying to decide if I need a business license as an LLC landlord, but property in individual name.

    Posted: 17 Sep 2021 07:26 PM PDT

I know that this is very specific to the city/town/county (even state) where this is and I have read the regs. for the town. Unfortunately, it's not super clear what they are considering "real estate" business. I have read that a business license is required only if the LLC actually owns the property. Currently, this is not the case. This is our first rental and it is a converted primary residence. We will put the LLC on the deed, but the mortgage and current deed is actually only in my wife's name, who is a 51% owner in the LLC.

I don't want to call the town and ask them before really knowing what the situation is because I feel they will just say yeah you need one.

ADVICE Keep trying or cut my losses

    Posted: 17 Sep 2021 01:02 PM PDT

Looking for some advice, collecting some money. With out going into to much detail. I run a small renovations company in Ontario Canada and a general contractor hired me to do some work. We agreed on being paid cash every day after the work was completed. At first no issues, then it was I'll pay you next week, then I'll e transfer you. And since there was lots of work I figured I would get paid the next day or the day after that and this kept going for a month. He now owes me $1000. And he keeps saying he is so busy he doesn't have time to go to the bank or e transfer Now I realize I screwed up, unfortunately because he was paying cash I never really got any of his info, not even sure if he is a legit contractor. Never got a last name or business card. I've tried calling texting and visiting other job sites and he just keeps saying how busy he is and got made because I went to another job site. There is more work to do just waiting on supplies and other trades. I even pleaded with him and brought my kid to appeal to his kinder side, since he has kids. He told me today that he understands and promised to pay by end of day. So should I cut my losses or keep trying to collect?

    Buy business with SBA Loan?

    Posted: 17 Sep 2021 03:05 PM PDT

I currently run my own business that is my full time work but I have some extra time on my hands and would like to open a separate stream of income. I would like to purchase an already established e-commerce business. I don't have a huge savings but could come up with 10k fairly painlessly and use it as a down payment/ collateral for a larger loan. Could I get an SBA loan to buy a business? Has anyone been through this and can share their experience? Thanks!
