Pay by mile car insurance in NYS Posted: 17 Sep 2021 05:45 PM PDT I looked on nerd wallet's site and right on the NYS website, both either say they don't support NYS or don't say they have NYS listed. Milewise by allstate, and many other pay per mile companies are like avoiding NYS like the plague, even though the state has the 3rd largest population in the country. Is there something I'm missing? Are there actually companies that do offer pay per mile auto insurance in New York State, and I'm just missing them? Thank you! [link] [comments] |
Who do you think will insurance side with? Posted: 17 Sep 2021 09:07 PM PDT Hello, in henrico, Virginia tonight I got in an accident with an individual at an intersection. This particular side of the intersection had two right turning lanes, two left turning lanes, and one straight lane. Me, being unfamiliar with the intersection originally was in the left most right lane, and realized that I needed to be in the middle straight going lane. I had positioned myself with clear intention of going straight by pulling into the middle straight lane as much as possible. The man behind me either didn't notice or didn't care, and as the light turned green, and I moved forward to completely go into the middle he decided to drive straight ahead and my left corner bumper and head light hit and scraped his side of his truck. He decided to push through the green light without stopping and pulled into a retail plaza after the light while I was behind him and got caught at the light. I didn't see him turn into the plaza and I assumed that he ran. After contacting the police, I found out that he also thought I ran because he couldn't find me after the accident. The police were able to put two and two together to find out that we were in an accident and we now have each others contact info and insurance. My question is whether or not the insurance will side either me, him, or will find it inconclusive. I have attached a diagram here where I am the yellow highlighted vehicle, and he is the vehicle with the arrow in it. Excuse my bad diagram. My vehicle has some damage on the left corner bumper and headlight, and the officer stated that he had a "racing stripe" and small dent on the right side of his vehicle. [link] [comments] |
Is this something insurance would pay out for? Posted: 17 Sep 2021 12:52 PM PDT Yesterday I pulled over to help chase down a dog running across the road. In my haste I pulled into a ditch at the corner of someone's driveway. Eventually a nice man driving by used a chain to pull me out and I thought the situation was over and done with. Well, today a sheriff called me and informed me that the property owner wants my insurance information so that he can have them pay to repair the ditch damage? I didn't know that was even a thing. My car was not damaged and the cop said he has no reason to report it as an accident. Is this something insurance would pay out for? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 17 Sep 2021 09:06 AM PDT I'm trying to get an iud inserted but I need it done under anesthesia and I can't figure out if it's covered. I've been calling and holding and been transferred and hung up on a couple times. I was told by one agent that it's not covered, but another agent said it is covered if a physician signs off on the anesthesia being clinically necessary. I know my insurance covers iud insertion on it's own, but I don't know if it covers the anesthesia. I'm getting it under anesthesia because I physically cannot have it inserted without it so I guess that's clinically necessary but I'm not sure. I have Anthem blue cross (MA or CA, there's some confusion). If it's not covered, how much would just the anesthesia and anesthesiologist cost? I don't know if the procedure will be local or general anesthesia, does that make a difference? I can't even get a clear answer from google about how much anesthesia will cost if I have to pay out of pocket. Thanks in advance, I'm just so frustrated by this whole process. ETA: to anyone telling me the insertion is not bad, I've gone through the process attempting to insert it but I was unable to go through with it due to the pain. My current obgyn recommended the procedure under anesthesia because she wouldn't be comfortable doing it without considering my previous reaction. So no, it's either I get some sort of anesthesia (local is fine) or I find some other form of BC [link] [comments] |
Progressive auto insurance with just a permit Posted: 17 Sep 2021 10:12 PM PDT So I'm planning to buy auto insurance for my vehicle soon and I was wondering that lets say I only had a permit when I bought the policy but then 3 months later I get my license. Will my policy not cover me if I got in an accident on the 4th month? Would I need to change my policy once I get my drive license? I'm located in California. [link] [comments] |
Medi-Cal, MCAP, HCO and pregnant. Help! Posted: 17 Sep 2021 08:04 PM PDT First time poster - I'm currently 24 weeks pregnant and per my husbands job status switching from full time to part time, we will no longer be insured. I applied through Covered California and received a notice via mail that I was "approved" for MCAP. MCAP seems like a mess itself, but from my understanding I'll need to pick an insurance plan via HCO. However, HCO said that I'm unable to pick a plan because I need to be issued a Medi-Cal card with a benefits number before I can choose a plan. Call back to Medi-Cal and they have no idea what to do. Not sure if I need a medi-cal number, not showing approved for MCAP (even though I received a letter saying I was). No one seems to know what to do. Has anyone has any experience with MCAP? HCO? Help! [link] [comments] |

Hit and run in a target parking lot Posted: 17 Sep 2021 06:25 AM PDT Hi all, My car was parked in a target parking lot, and was hit while I was inside. Whoever hit my car didn't leave a note or anything (really annoyed this happened, even when I parked further down from the entrance). This left a ~ 5x6inches dent and a long 12 inches scratch in the rear quarter panel of my car. Do you guys think I should contact my insurance about this? will my monthly premium increase if I file a claim? Update: Thanks in advance [link] [comments] |
Rooftop Solar Panels / Home Owners Insurance Posted: 17 Sep 2021 11:49 AM PDT Anyone here with experience on this? Did you increase the amount of your coverage? By the total cost of the system? Any insurance brokers/agents that have advice? I have been in touch, sort of, with my insurance. Is there something other than increasing coverage that I need to look out for? Home and Car are currently with Liberty Mutual in Virginia [link] [comments] |
Insurance for online spice subscription retailer? Posted: 17 Sep 2021 02:03 PM PDT Hi, I am working on starting a business that will sell subscription spice boxes. After researching I'm confused about which insurances I'm going to need. From what I can tell I will need general liability and error and omission. Is that it? It will be a sole proprietorship with the spices packaged in a commercial kitchen by me. In MA, USA. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 17 Sep 2021 01:50 PM PDT (Takes place in Maryland) I was driving on the highway, and wanted to switch lanes. (My car alerts me when it's okay to switch lanes) I was in the clear, and as I was switching lanes, the side(close to the bumper)of my car gets scratched by another car. The front of his car was scratched as well. I feel really ashamed and embarrassed over being in an accident. Who do you think is at fault here? [link] [comments] |
Got in an accident the day after I purchased coverage. Posted: 17 Sep 2021 11:54 AM PDT I got in an accident little over 24 hours after purchasing insurance. My policy states that it started on the 15th, my accident was on the 16th. The other driver also has a brand new policy, will insurance cover the accident? This happened in Arizona [link] [comments] |
Fender bender while delivering instacart groceries (yes I know I screwed up), NY (and NH) Posted: 17 Sep 2021 07:39 AM PDT Ok so yesterday I was delivering groceries for instacart - a lot of friends do this and told me it's a great way to make money while travelling. I've been doing it a few weeks and have to agree... until yesterday. I got in my first real accident - rear ended another driver. She stopped very abruptly to let a pedestrian by, and I hit her rear bumper. We pulled off to the side of the road, and exchanged info, I filed a report, and that was that. She drove away with a decent amount of body damage but likely no mechanical issues. My radiator was shot and I was leaking coolant, so I towed my car to a nearby garage. I went to bed stressed, but tried to console myself by telling myself I'd just pay my collision deducable, my rates would go up, and that would be that. Not great but it was fine. Today I spoke with my insurance rep, and (stupidly, I've been told, but I do value honesty) answered yes when he asked if I was using a gig app. At which point he told me my insurance probably doesn't cover me. I honestly had no idea I needed business insurance for a gig app - I know it's dumb, but I figured that because I primarily used the car for personal use, personal insurance was enough. For reference, my car is registered and insured in NY, but this happened in NH. My insurance is through progressive Anyway, couple questions
Edit: am I potentially facing points / fines / suspension for technically driving without (the correct) insurance?? [link] [comments] |
Two auto insurance issues/questions Posted: 17 Sep 2021 10:26 AM PDT Hi, I was hit on the freeway in november 2021 by a driver who decided to cross three lanes from left to right because he was trying to make his exit--he clipped the driver rear quarter. He admitted fault. It was 2 days before thanksgving. Occured on I-85 in Atlanta, Georgia, where I reside. The vehicle was a rental, and was rented in the passenger's name--she lives in NC. She provided her ID, I took a pic and pic of the license plate. Called my insurance (Geico) and Enterprise multiple times. Geico indicated that Enterprise would likely take a long time so I decided to get the vehicle fixed with understanding that Geico would pursue Enterprise for reimbursement. To this day, I have heard not a word from Enterprise, am still waiting for my $500 deductible to be reimbursed, Geico has not been reimbursed, and the claim seems to have driven my own premium up. What can I do? Second issue--shopping for cheaper insurance and denied because of number of claims and "exceeds limits". The claims are
I am 53, average credit, no tickets, female. My vehicle is a 10 year old SUV. In 2016, when I lived in Houston, I was paying $89 per month on a brand-new 30K vehicle. Since moving to Atlanta, and down-grading to used vehicle, my premiums have been around 250. Just went up $40/mo. I carry full coverage and state minimums with $500 deductibles. I just submitted an order to LexisNexis for a consumer report but it takes two weeks by mail, apparently. What else can I do? These premiums are killing me especially after nearly two years of under-employment, rent going up more than 30%, etc. Sorry this is so long but any advice or direction is greatly appreciated. Should I notify my insurance still? Posted: 17 Sep 2021 09:51 AM PDT I live in Minneapolis MN I don't know if I should call my insurance or anything I'm not 100% sure. Hey everyone, so I just came back from the car wash a few minutes ago. As I was in the car wash, another car was somehow let in before my car could exit and she bumped into the back of my bumper. When I got out of the car wash, I checked my bumper, no visible damage, I just kept tapping everything seeing if anything was falling off nothing was falling off. The lights were fine everything was fine I guess. She finally came out of the car wash and she apologized, and we both looked at each other's cars there was no visible damage on her car no damage in my car that we could see. So we both moved along. The thing is, I don't know if I'm supposed to notify insurance about this or something. We never exchange information, I see no visible damage I'm checking my car again once I got home nothing. Should I still notify my insurance? I'm not sure if my dash cam back camera was on to record her car. [link] [comments] |
[CA] at fault - multi rear end, will probably be sued - how does this proceed? Posted: 17 Sep 2021 09:32 AM PDT I have never been in accident before and have been driving for 10 years. For whatever reason, I lost control of my car and slammed into the car in front of me, and eventually caused a 4 car pile up (mine included). My car is totaled, the car I hit is totaled, and the third car in the chain might be totaled. The fourth car had bumper damage but was not bent in. everyone declined an ambulance ride and we walked away from the accident. I am incredibly sorry. I didn't mean to hit anyone. When I first renewed my insurance 6 months ago, I was a broke graduate student making $0 so I had state minimums - 25kpd and 15/30 BI. I am certain I will exceed PD limits and I think it will be around 30k (older cars were involved, assuming 2 totaled cars which is probably likely. The 2nd and 3rd car in the chain have also retained services of a lawyer to present a injury case. I understand injuries manifest many weeks later - them walking away from the accident means nothing. Both lawyers asked for my policy limits to which I complied with. I'm about 150k in student loan debt. I share rent with my partner. No assets whatsoever. No retirement accounts, no property. But I do make decent money now after graduating. I'm almost certain there's no way this can end up ok for me. I'm trying to come to grips with the fact I'll probably be sued and have my wages garnished. It's my fault, for the accident and my poor limits coverage. How do situations like this typically play out? Can my wages be garnished by multiple parties? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 17 Sep 2021 08:47 AM PDT The agency I work at in Idaho as an agent hires unlicensed college students to process client payments. However, they're also having them file claims and process vehicle changes. Would they need to be licensed in order to do that? [link] [comments] |
Worth it to start a diminished value claim? Posted: 17 Sep 2021 08:25 AM PDT Hi all, I'll keep this short. I have an 09 Tacoma that was rear-ended about a month ago. Geico offered me $1800 initially. Then I took it to another shop to have the frame checked, and they found it was 3mm out of square. Straightened it for $300, and the insurance company wrote me an additional check for that. Now, here's my question. This accident is on the carfax report, and I believe that it might even say that the frame was straightened, though I don't know because I am not buying a full report. I'm wondering if it's worthwhile to file a diminished value claim or if I should just let it go and cash the two checks. I have no way of knowing how much the accident has diminished the value, but I assume that there are ways to find out. Value of the truck is probably 13-14k in vgc with no accident reported. Thanks [link] [comments] |
A car hit my uninsured parked car. (Los Angeles, CA.) Posted: 17 Sep 2021 08:01 AM PDT Has anyone ever been in this situation, an could drop any knowledge on me on what steps to take? It would be greatly appreciated. Last night two cars collided into each other, one was deflected into a T-bone position into my parked car. Both drivers were injured. Broken bones I think, so asking them for information wasn't appropriate. When everything was said, and done all I got was a police officers card with what he said is a case #. I haven't been driving this car so much since I started a lease on a newer one, so it hasn't been insured, or registered for a couple of months. So calling my insurance to handle this for me is out of the question. Does anyone know what steps to take to getting reimbursed for repairs on my car? Thanks [link] [comments] |
