For Pet Parent - How much would you pay for a virtual vet consult?

    Posted: 18 Sep 2021 02:23 AM PDT

I just launched my virtual vet website where I connect licensed vets to pet parents who need answers on demand. Right now it's free of charge as I test the market. In the next phase, I will charge 40$ per consult. The main benefit of this is that you can get your answers quick without leaving your house, reducing unnecessary ER visits and costs for something that can be solved at home. The question is - would you pay 40$ for this service? If not, how much are you willing to pay, taking into consideration the inconvenience of booking a vet, Covid restrictions, gas, time away from work...etc.

How do you motivate employees to be more productive and disciplined?

    Posted: 17 Sep 2021 04:06 AM PDT

Several years ago, I opened a firm that provides accounting services and financial auditing. We have a small team - only seven people; I never aspired to be the size of a large corporation. And if at first everything went well and everyone was satisfied, lately it seems that some of my employees are no longer working at total capacity. Many processes are delay, and dissatisfied calls from customers have begun. And I talked to every person in my office; there aren't any personal issues or tragedies.

At the meetings, everything looks good, and it seems that everyone understands everything and agrees on the timing and what needs to be done. But as soon as the workflow begins, a bunch of inconsistencies appears.

I started to introduce deadlines for each employee, and it seemed like it helped for a while. Still, after a month, it all happened again. One of my co-workers suggested introducing fines for every wrongdoing, but I never liked this approach. At my previous job, it only caused more stress, and I never believed in the effectiveness of this method.

I even hired a coach to help with my firm efficiency. For the $3000 that I paid, they advised me to introduce the agile approach and gave me the contacts of another specialist who would help me with this. After talking with the staff, this efficiency specialist told me that such problems aren't uncommon, especially now, given the coronavirus and psychological pressure.

In short, the only thing I got, as a result, is advice to use an online planner http://www.goretro.ai/ and personally monitor the actions of each employee, drawing up their daily tasks monitoring their implementation. And although I implemented the online planner in the work process, I'm not sure that being a warden is something I want to do, especially since I have my own clients and tasks that I have to work on every day.

I'd be grateful if you could share some ideas on this subject. Thanks.

Buy a business with SBA Loan?

    Posted: 17 Sep 2021 03:14 PM PDT

I currently run my own business that is my full time work but I have some extra time on my hands and would like to open a separate stream of income. I would like to purchase an already established e-commerce business. I don't have a huge savings but could come up with 10k fairly painlessly and use it as a down payment/ collateral for a larger loan. Could I get an SBA loan to buy a business? Has anyone been through this and can share their experience? Thanks!

    Hiring Like Football

    Posted: 17 Sep 2021 09:33 AM PDT

Depending on the economy and unemployment of a nation or state that will have a major impact on how a company hires. When unemployment is high, then a business has most of the power when hiring as there will be more candidates than positions. This was true during the economic downturn from around 2006 through 2012. But when unemployment is low the opposite is true.

From 2006-2012, hiring was more like the NFL draft. Employers had their pick of candidates and they could make the candidates jump through hoops to get picked for the job. Kind of like how college kids coming into the draft have to go through the combine, do individual workouts, and interviews. And like how in the NFL draft players have wait to find out if they have been picked, candidates have to wait to see if they are going to get the job.

But when the economy is going strong and unemployment is under 5% like it has been since 2012, the hiring process is more like college football recruiting. College football recruiting makes the colleges go after the talent and they have to show the recruit all the reasons why they are the best school. And on Signing Day it is the player that decides where they are going. The same is true in business when you have less quality candidates to choose from, then they have more power. Businesses have to interview them, but the candidates also get to interview the business. And like how high school kids will have 3 or 4 schools making offers, top candidates might have 2 to 4 offers at a time and the company has to wait to hear from them. So what is my point. We are in a time of the candidates having more power in hiring, but many companies still think it is 2008. They have long interview processes and take too long making a decision. Then other companies come in and take their bench candidates. It is important for companies to realise we are in a new era and we must change to get the best candidates.

Food Business: What foods am I not allowed to ship internationally?

    Posted: 17 Sep 2021 12:32 PM PDT

I am starting an eCommerce store based in the USA selling white-labeled pre-packaged foods. I would LOVE to ship internationally but am unsure what foods/ingredients are not allowed to be imported to other countries

I understand that the rules vary from country to country, does this mean I would have to look at the laws of every country I'd like to ship to? If so, it seems like a major headache and I'm wondering if there is someone I can hire to do the research for me

Any advice would greatly be appreciated!
