Dr office submitted yearly physical as ‘diagnosis’ instead of ‘preventative’ and insurance won’t cover it 100%

    Posted: 14 Sep 2021 12:50 AM PDT

My insurance is supposed to cover yearly physicals 100%

They didn't because it was submitted as 'diagnosis' because I brought a form from my employer to get a insurance discount.

The dr office says because of the form they had to fill out, it's considered like a pre-employment form and therefor 'diagnostics'

My question is, since the dr billing dept seem adamant about it, is there anything I can do to make them resubmit it as 'preventative' ?

    Thanks

Is there anything I can do to speed up the process? It's been 2 1/2 months and my car isn't even being worked on

    Posted: 13 Sep 2021 05:44 PM PDT

On the 28th of June, I hit some debris while changing lanes on the highway. It trashed alot of the bottom part of my car. Transmission, radiator support, power steering, and even 2 tires have to be replaced.

My issue is that my agent, NEVER PICKS UP THE PHONE. Now I can understand he is very busy, especially with the pandemic still in the way, but I have only spoke to him twice over the phone out of the dozens of calls. The biggest problem to this is that he leaves voicemail that are absolutely useless. He gives me no info on the situation nor will he tell me if there is anything I have to do. I have asked for specific voicemails and also for instructions but he just won't give me anything. My mechanic is also having these issues which leads me to my second issue.

They haven't began working on my vehicle. Insurance wants my mechanic to install used parts into my vehicle, which he knows is a terrible idea plus I am absolutely against it as it will void my car warranty with my dealership.

    So quick recap:

    -The accident was 6/28.

-I filed 7/1 after my mechanic inspected the vehicle the day before.

-The adjuster inspected my vehicle on 8/3 (is this normal? A whole month later?)

-The estimate record says the vehicle should be finished in 2 days.

-It is 9/13 today. 78 days total since the accident, 75 since I filed, 42 days since inspection.

Can I do anything? Should I be doing something? At this point it is becoming an inconvenience that I do not have my car plus the fact that they offer no info nor help. I am going nowhere and am beginning to get frustrated and the insurance doesn't seem to care.

I recall appreciate any help I can receive for anybody. I need help. I do live in Colorado, if thats of any help.

    Vehicle collision advice ?

    Posted: 14 Sep 2021 12:25 AM PDT

Earlier today I got into an accident where a driver pulled in front of me and I tried to swerve out of the way but ended up hitting the back of his car. I do not think that I will be found at least 50% at fault for this accident but I noticed a few hours after the accident that if I bend my wrist a certain way, specifically when squeezing my thumb or stretching it in that direction, it feels pretty painful. I'm in college and I'm nervous it may make it difficult to write. I haven't spoken with insurance yet or anything we just have the police report. Is this something I should bring up or have checked out? If so, how should I go about doing this?

Public adjuster can’t make claims adjuster appointment

    Posted: 13 Sep 2021 07:03 AM PDT

Hey guys I hired a public adjuster for my home and the recent floods. Had equipment failure and was told by my agent, who I trust, to hire a PA. He has been great so far but he just called and told me he can't make the claims adjuster meeting tomorrow at my house. He said it's fine and to call him if any questions come up. I feel he should be there to earn his 12%!

Is this a big deal? Or not a big deal at all and happens a lot.

Auto Insurance - hail damage only cosmetic - what if insurance totaled car? USAA

    Posted: 13 Sep 2021 09:08 PM PDT

Hi everyone! My 14 Volkswagen Passat was severely damaged in a hail storm back in April. I reported but haven't done anything yet. The car runs great and no issues, but it has less then $2500 left on it and I want to keep it.

I heard different things and looked online. I want to keep it and ride it until it dies. If my insurance totals it out, to my understanding I can get money. Can I buy it back and still get it insured? I have full coverage on it.

    Anything helps! Thanks!

Rental Property DP-3 Policy for SFR Houston/TX

    Posted: 13 Sep 2021 08:39 PM PDT

    Hey everyone,

I was quoted a state farm policy on a 3bd/3.5 bath 2100 sq foot tri-level property with a 1/10 flood factor rating(never flooded) that includes:

    - 100% replacement cost at $480k

    -Dwelling extension - $48k

    - Personal Property Coverage B - $24k

    - Business liability each occurence - $500k

    - Business liability annual aggregate - $1M

    - Premises Medical Payments - $5k

    Monthly Premium - $355 | Annual Premium - $4.3k

Does anyone think this is a rip-off or reasonable? If its a rip-off, what can i reduce or remove from policy limits and coverage that landlords don't typically need?

If this is not salvageable and you've got a rental SFR in Texas(normal-ish tri-level stucco like house) and your premiums are under $250/month and you like your rental property policy, I'd like to get your hot take!

    Thanks!

I rear ended someone in nj

    Posted: 13 Sep 2021 04:48 PM PDT

So I rear ended someone last week, their car was definitely totaled. I was going pretty fast, and saw they were stopped at the last second.

Anyway I was young and dumb and had my insurance at the state minimum.

    There were no injuries.

I've been talking to my insurance agent and he seems to think I should be fine and won't end up paying anything out of pocket because of uninsured/underinsured insurance. He said as long at their policy is sufficient in that aspect I'll be fine and to take is as a life lesson…. I have since raised all my policies on all 4 of my vehicles.

My question is if their insurance covers is with their policy will they come after me for it?

Yes I know I'm an idiot. But it's done and over with and I'm just thankful no one was hurt. From now on I will never cheap out on this.

Premera blue cross HSA 1700 question

    Posted: 13 Sep 2021 08:32 PM PDT

    Hi all,

New job, new insurance. New insurance is a 1700 HSA account. I've never had an HSA based insurance before so I'm a little confused.

I've taken a medication for the last five years that had a $35 co pay. With my new insurance, I don't see a co pay listed anywhere. It just says 80% coverage. Does that mean before or after I pay all of my deductible?

    Thank you

Is There Some Sort of Reasonably Priced Short-Term Health Plan?

    Posted: 13 Sep 2021 07:22 PM PDT

Age 29 driving cross-country with friends, camping along the way. Recently changed jobs and lost insurance. Attempts to re-enroll in ACA plan have been a struggle due to new job and long wait times on hold.

Leaving Thursday night for 2-3 weeks, from MD to CA. Is there some kind of plan that one can pick up for this sort of situation, in case of emergency/injury?

Options on a totaled car when not at fault in Texas?

    Posted: 13 Sep 2021 01:58 PM PDT

I was in a car accident a few weeks ago, but was not at fault. Finally got it into a shop with an estimated repair cost around $6,400. My car's value is around $5,000, possibly less. A 2006 Honda Element, so it's been a great car, paid off, and other than the front damage from the accident, it runs great.

So my question is, if the other person's insurance choose to total my car, which sounds like the way they're going, do I have the choice of saying no, fix it instead? I don't really want a car payment when I have a car that is mostly fine. Are they legally allowed to say too bad so sad, here's a check for your cars current value and good luck? Leaving me with even greater financial responsibility than what they give me long term. I know I can take it and buy a cheap used car, but I've put work into mine, I know it's flaws, and I know with used cars you can end up spending more over time to repair issues that you didn't know about until it is too late.

Edit: the main issue is the radiator got damaged, so they have to replace but the engine looks great according to the mechanic. The rest is cosmetic like a new bumper, side paneling, an alignment, and few other things. Parts are about $2500, the rest is labor and taxes. So again, it ran great before the incident.

    Confused

    Posted: 13 Sep 2021 04:58 PM PDT

I recently was involved in a hit and run where a semi truck ran me off of the road and caused body damage to my car. I drive a 2011 Nissan Rogue and it has around 170k miles on it. I dropped it off at a shop and waited for the adjuster to inspect it. They called and said the inspector had a family emergency and wouldn't be able to inspect the car so they were going to take it to a separate facility. While tell me this they also told me that it would probably be a total loss. How can they know that without inspecting it? Also, how do insurance companies value a car? Confused, any answers would help.

    Rear-ended yesterday

    Posted: 13 Sep 2021 04:56 AM PDT

Hi, yesterday someone rear ended me while sitting in traffic. The driver never hit his brakes and pushed my car about 15 yards ahead and into another car. This is my first car wreck that I have been in and I am not sure how insurance claims work. Will the at fault drivers' insurance have to pay off my car? I'm not even sure what questions to ask or what to say.

I've traditionally used an agent for 2 years but the agency laid most off in favor of rolling out an online portal so now it's like pulling teeth trying to get policy questions answered.

Home insurance denied claim for covering costs of Mold remediation. Looking for info

    Posted: 13 Sep 2021 02:46 PM PDT

    Greetings everyone,

First off, I appreciate any advice in regards to my situation and questions.

Home was built in the mid 1960s.

Insurance is PEMCO. My policy describes covering mold up to 10k, but there are exclusions. I'll try and explain that here. We bought our home 2 years ago. The previous owner had done some changes to the home like bathroom fans, adding electrical outlets and canned lighting, etc.

My wife and I began a remodel of the upstairs portion of our home. After removing the drywall, our contractor found mold all over the ceiling boards in the attic space. He wasn't able to continue because of the scope of the mold. It covered the whole north side of the house's attic space. (I checked the home inspection from our purchase and the inspector did not report any mold. This would have been impossible NOT to see.)

We had to leave our house due to the poor air quality with the mold being exposed. We stayed in a hotel for a week until we found out our insurance was not going to cover the mold. PEMCO has always taken care of us. We have auto insurance through them as well. I spoke with a remediation specialist and he said PEMCO was one of the few insurance companies that would cover.

PEMCO sent a structural engineer to assess if the mold was caused due to "poor design" or not. My wife was home when he showed up. He immediately said it was due to poor design. He neglected to highlight the fact that the bathroom fan vented directed into the attic. Instead he focused on the existing venting.

This is new for me to post something like this. Happy to answer any follow up from knowleadgeable folks out there that can assist me.

FEMA Disaster Assistance from Remnants of Hurricane Ida

    Posted: 13 Sep 2021 02:34 PM PDT

Like many others my unfinished basement (and garage) took on water from sewer backup during the torrential rains. I consider myself lucky as it was less than 3 inches of water and we only had to throw away a couple items and rip up the wall-to-wall tiled carpet. I see neighbors throwing away piles and piles of stuff.

I applied for the FEMA disaster assistance. My question is will FEMA cover a contractor redoing my basement floor since I had to chuck the flooded carpet? And do I still need to file a claim with homeowners insurance? I checked my policy and it specifically excludes rainwater, sewer backup, etc. so I haven't filed anything with them. It's my understanding that this is standard in the industry to exclude this type of flooding. So far I paid a contractor to rip up the carpet and will be getting a quote to epoxy or retile the floor. I also bought floor drying fans on amazon, damp-rid, etc.

Going in circles with my auto insurance (California)

    Posted: 13 Sep 2021 10:08 AM PDT

This is getting ridiculous. Turned car into mechanic for rat damage. It took a week to get fixed because of supply line issues (basic coolant lines). I filed a claim same day I brought the car in and immediately the adjuster called the mechanic who informed him it should not be more than $400, below my deductible so the adjuster closed the claim. After I got my car back and driving home I had a warning light pop up so the next morning I brought the car back to my mechanic who informed me that likely some hybrid stuff was damaged and they dont work on hybrid issues.

I immediately took the car to my Ford dealer and they said because of supply line issues it would take a month or more to fix (this was a month an a half ago). I immediately contacted my insurance to re-open the claim (which I dont feel should have been closed until I got my car back). I gave the Ford dealer all of my insurance information, contacts, adjuster, claim #, everything. I also gave my insurance company all information as well... dealer phone, contact person, etc.

Heres where Im stuck. The dealer called two weeks ago saying they got the parts but have tried multiple times to contact my adjuster to no avail. Always a voice message and the adjuster never returns calls. I now have my insurance agent looking into this who is saying the adjuster is saying the dealer isnt returning their calls.

When I call either the dealer or the insurance I have no problem at all talking to them directly. Both parties claiming the other wont return calls. Nothings getting done. Dealer wont finish the work until it goes through the insurance.

Is there anything I can do? Maybe file a new claim to get a different adjuster? Or pay up front just to get the car fixed and I deal with my insurance on my own somehow? I have no idea what the cost will be but Im expecting something high if it was hybrid damage. My neighbors Porsche was over $17,000 to fix rat damage.

Auto Insurance - Is it true that AAA will do a comparison shop for you?

    Posted: 13 Sep 2021 01:33 PM PDT

I have no idea where I heard this, it may have been a fever dream. But I heard that AAA - as a service for members - will give you a report of all major insurance, compared to your current plan, and see if you can get a cheaper plan anywhere.

My family currently pays someone 2 cities away to do that for us once every couple of years, but they're REALLY out of touch. I'd love to find a more modern way to do this. I tried doing it myself but my head got swamped after seeing the 5 dozen different specific choices made for our insurance.

Any tips on where to start?

    ER visit

    Posted: 13 Sep 2021 12:31 PM PDT

Last month I went to the ER, I made sure it was in network, on my insurance card my ER copay is $300. Well I got a bill a couple of days ago stating I owe the hospital ~$1,700. Is this possible? Can I dispute this in anyway? Should I reach out to the hospital or my insurance company?

Covid ER Visit to In-Network provider, received Out of Network Physician with no notification

    Posted: 13 Sep 2021 12:30 PM PDT

In January I went to the ER after full body muscle spasms causing me to blackout while infected with Covid. My brother checked that the hospital he was bringing me to was in network (yay America) and I provided my insurance information prior to care. I received general diagnostics but spent 6 hours in the waiting room before I saw the physician with no indication of any kind that the physician I would be seeing is out of network. I ended up paying close to $600 out of pocket that day which I assumed would be the end of it but a month later I get a bill for $1,900 due to rejected out of network claims. Do I have any course of action to fight this? I've done some googling online that in case of emergency out of network physicians will be sometimes used but I feel with the 6 hour wait they clearly declared I wasn't in emergency status. State is Louisiana, provider is UHC if that helps.

    PI suits are so annoying!

    Posted: 13 Sep 2021 11:31 AM PDT

So I am over a year into my PI suit, my attorney told me that they had been in contact with the adjuster and they would have their first offer for us in 2 weeks. Now it's been a month, and nothing. My lawyer says she left detailed messages but is still waiting to hear back. Is this normal? What's stopping them from just continuously pushing it off? I'm just getting a little impatient, here I am dealing with the consequences of someone else's actions and I have literally 0 compensation for the year of PT I had to do plus arthroscopic surgery. Sorry that I keep posting about this case, but I'm getting very upset about it and the folks here are very knowledgeable. Thanks in advance for any suggestions or info!
