Posted: 07 Jul 2021 06:15 AM PDT I'm 15 quarters in a sales company. I am a top performer in the place. Iv missed one target and regularly hit over 150%. New quarter has just kicked in and I'm just not feeling it anymore, it's just the same shit month after month. The money is really really good and I don't think I would get the same anywhere else. The question is, as a high performing sales rep, how do you avoid burnout? It just feels so repetitive at this stage. Iv lost the desire. Has anyone had this happen to them before? What did you do? Using deepfakes in sales outreach? Posted: 06 Jul 2021 09:22 PM PDT One of my colleagues just showed me this the other day: tavus.io I guess they use some sort of A.I. to create custom + dynamic videos based on a prospect's information. Has anybody here used them before? Also curious if there are competitors. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 Jul 2021 08:23 AM PDT I always try to mute my phone and put away distractions while calling but on days where I'm not getting anyone on the phones I'm so distracted. I'm either scrolling reddit or LinkedIn and feel so useless by the end of the day. As I type this, I'm making calls lol. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 Jul 2021 07:22 AM PDT All, I'm looking to break into SAAS. I've been applying to quite a few places. Had one interview at Salesforce which ended quickly with many other instant no's. I've been in heavy equipment sales for 5 years. I'm a consistent top performer and have hit my large targets multiple times. Ive hit the ceiling in my industry and the company is making some poor management decision. I'm looking for SAAS because of the awesome earning potential and growth. I see Paychex is hiring often and may be a good place for me to cut my teeth. I'm wanting to be 150-180k OTE for my first AE role. Is this possible there? Is it a tough sale? Anything specific I should look for in terms of territory? [link] [comments] |
Should I reconsider sales as a career if I hate cold calling? Posted: 07 Jul 2021 09:54 AM PDT I just utterly despise it. And I just started. I'd rather have warm leads or customers coming to me but I'm required to make cold calls in my job. I hate when they have an attitude. towards me. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 Jul 2021 09:30 AM PDT Hello Little background for me. I have been in sales for about 3-4 years and will be at my current job for 2 years come September. I know money motivates sales reps, and my Job has just restructured our pay. I currently work in inbound telecom for an internet/cable company. Basically they gave us a "raise" in base pay, but took that money from our commission and added a "perfect attendance" bonus. So, the only way you'd see a real increase is if you are in the top 40% of sales rep (which generally i am, but i have had bad months we're i was lower on the food chain). Everyone is in the bottom 60 percent will get a pay decrease. This has been a huge hit to a lot of us. Needless to say I'm getting a little tired of jumping through hoops to get paid (amongst other things like terrible management, "missing" commission payments, understaffed/overworked/underpaid) and am thinking of going elsewhere. How long do you think a sales rep should stay at a company before moving up? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 Jul 2021 08:48 AM PDT Hello everyone, I have an interview for an SDR position with a a small fintech. As a part of the preparation, the hiring manager suggested I download a free trial of the product and become familiar as they will be asking questions "to see what you understand about our platform" This is my first sales interview, is this common? What features and aspects of the product should I focus on learning about? Thanks to anyone for their responses! [link] [comments] |
Question for the sales reps in b2b selling software Posted: 07 Jul 2021 10:17 AM PDT How much of your job is "putting out fires"? I sell cars and much of my job is fielding calls from pissed off customers, scheduling things with our service department which is terrible, getting things fixed after the sale that management opted not to fix before delivery. It's just burning me out and wondering if other sales roles are like that [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 Jul 2021 09:59 AM PDT Sorry if this isn't the place for this, but I'd like to hear fellow sales people's view on this subject and r/economics is just a bot farm. Our management has been telling us to prepare for a 2008 style melt down any day now. In their very educated opinion is because of labor issues. People getting paid $20+ hr to sit on their couch instead of working. Maybe I'm naive, but I resisted this as the cause because I thought it was an over simplification and an easy political scapegoat. But our meeting this morning was an eye opener. Things that used to cost us $1500 to ship now cost $8700. Container ships just circling around the Port of SF because there is nobody to offload the containers. Material shortages, manufacturing plants going down and taking weeks to get back up and running, when before it would be a couple days. My wife got a 10% raise yesterday for no reason other than "please don't quit", and for her company that is unprecedented. So basically inflation is staring us in the face, and it's a ticking time bomb that will blow up bigger than 2008. At least that's the message from the top of our management. I find it strange that they would share this opinion with a bunch of sensitive, ego driven, toxically positive sales guys. The wind has been taken out of my sails. I know the economy comes in ebbs and flow, and I guess we've had it too good for too long and it's maybe time to bear down for some lean times ahead? [link] [comments] |
Is LinkedIn Sales Nav Professional worth it? Posted: 07 Jul 2021 07:44 AM PDT Sup guys and gals, I use LinkedIn alot at work but mainly only use it to vet and find new leads. I'm in SaaS and LinkedIn is a gold mine for FINDING prospects. But messaging hasn't really gotten me anywhere except for one meeting over 6 months. I'll message people sometimes and send connection requests to everyone I speak with. For 6 months, I have pulled ONE meeting from LinkedIn. I feel like there could be more there though. It's $80/month, which isn't much in the long run of things. If I can source 1 meeting/month from it, it pays for itself. Fellow xDRs and hunters...how many meetings do you pull from Sales Nav Pro every month? Is it worth it? [link] [comments] |
VP of Sales - Starting Route Help Posted: 06 Jul 2021 05:44 PM PDT I got offered a VP of Sales position with an LED lighting company in the cannabis industry. How should I get the ball rolling should I accept the role? What action items and requests should a VP of Sales start off doing/making with a new company? They offered me a 110k base and 1% total sales across e-commerce, retail and commercial. They also have equity over 3 years. Currently no benefits. Commissions paid quarterly. OTE with equity is approx 250k with no commission caps. The base seems low. Thoughts on the salary and what I should do if I accept this job? I will be overseeing 2 sales rep and working with a marketing manager. Currently, there is no marketing director. They want me to grow into VP of Sales and Marketing. The company is 7-8 years old with 14 staff members. I would be remote with company paid travel. Any advice or tips are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 Jul 2021 07:00 AM PDT I've recently taken on a new role in a new company. So quick breakdown of the company. We are a natural stone supplier and distributor. Our clients are mostly fabricators whom buy from us and install countertops. Well the owner of the company, wants to begin to open the market to homebuilders, designers and architects by offering a wide range of building materials and installation service from cabinets, tiles, flooring, chandeliers, lighting. I've done the cold calling an emails for the last 3 weeks and maybe got two leads. I know this is part of sales and 2 out of 100 is possibly good. I just want to make sure my bases are covered. How do I offer this to cold prospects? I mean were pretty much trying to streamline and consolidate the process for homebuilders, heck if you provide us with a blue print, inspiration etc. we even provide a 3d rendering . And for the most part its not a money grab as much as it we are just trying to find out of then many services we are beginning to offer where can we earn their business? Of the 2 leads I secured, they were completely blown away when I got them down here, but it doesn't seem to be connecting over email or phone? How do I put all this in a short version? I've got a free month of Linked In Sales Nav and want to start immediately, but don't know if I should just cold connect or write a message, I hear pros from both.. Thank you in advance for the help. Business Owner Here - I'm generating leads, but I'm unsure how to turn them into clients Posted: 07 Jul 2021 08:41 AM PDT I know this is probably asked a lot. I did a search, but didn't really find anything to fit my situation. Pretty much, I'm a small business owner offering monthly services to other small business owners. I set up a Facebook ad campaign to generate leads, where I get their name and email address. This ad campaign is offering an ebook which is supposed to help them with their pain points. Once they sign up for the ebook, they fall into my email sequence on Active campaign, where I continue to discuss their problems, but letting them know that I can help them, and they should schedule a call. I know most of these people aren't going to just easily sign up for a call, and I have to work to continue to make that happen. So my question is, what should I be doing other than just letting my email sequence do it's thing? I can probably find their number. Do I just cold call them? Do I send them personal emails outside of my email sequence? [link] [comments] |
I’m looking to get out of sales, but where can I go? Posted: 07 Jul 2021 11:36 AM PDT Pretty self explanatory, but I'm hoping to move my career path out of sales. I'm still quite young (27) and currently work in pharmaceutical sales. In the past I have also worked in alcoholic beverage sales and product sales. My total time working in sales has been 6 years. I just know that this path is not for me, and I do not get any enjoyment or satisfaction out of working in this field. That said, I'm not too sure what other job types could benefit from someone with a sales background. Are there certain jobs where an employer looks for someone with a history of sales? If I could work in any field, it would be the gym/fitness industry. I am actually working on becoming a personal trainer right now (as a small side gig), but I don't see that alone becoming my career as a whole. Any tips from someone who spent a good amount of time in sales but decided to leave? Any insight is very appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 Jul 2021 11:32 AM PDT Hello, I graduated last year with a law degree and found myself in sales as the legal market was especially tough due to covid. After 6 months as a BDR, I was recently promoted to an account manager role. Is there anyone here that has transitioned from sales to the legal industry? If so, how? How do you like it? What did you do before and during the recruitment process? Thank you :) [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 Jul 2021 11:21 AM PDT Hello, I attend an elite school in SoCal with a significant alumni network. I was planning on messaging alumni on LinkedIn but wasn't sure what companies to look at? Also if anyone knows of any roles or has an opening, let me know. Thank you. [link] [comments] |
"Why Me? Why Sales?" - BDR to interview for AE role Posted: 07 Jul 2021 10:43 AM PDT Hey reddit. I've been following this subreddit since I was hired as a SaaS BDR. It has been incredibly helpful for someone who started last summer in the midst of quarantine. After a long year, I am finally up for promotion. I have to give a presentation and answer 2 simple questions - Why Me? and Why Sales? While I've crafted my own answers unique to me, I'm curious how you all would answer? Any advice would be appreciated. I'm pretty nervous about this presentation. I couldn't be more ready/eager to take this next step [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 Jul 2021 10:35 AM PDT I've recently received a job offer for a business development manager role and am looking for some advice on how to evaluate the offer. For some background, I am transitioning from a more technical background/role into this sales position. I've been working as an engineering designer and have started to transition into an account management role at my current company. I don't have experience in an actual sales role, so I'm coming in with the understanding that I'm not in a great place to shoot for the moon in salary negotiations. The offer/details: The new position is remote and would require travel about 50% of the time. I live in a fairly LCOL area and am currently living comfortably making about $60k. The company seems like a good company to work for and they offer competitive benefits (401k match, insurance, mileage reimbursement, company expense account, etc) There is a base salary of $80k and a tiered commission rate ranging between 0.05% and 0.2%, depending on total sales. I would likely be in the 0.2% range while I'm starting out and work my up to about 0.095% once I get more established. This is the part that concerns me, as in my research, I have seen that the average commission rate starts around 4%. I realize that the base pay is very generous and that the overall compensation needs to be considered, but the commission rate is just so far below the average, I wanted to confirm I'm not falling into a trap. In more general terms, I think I could expect to make ~$82k in my first year and anywhere from $85k-$95k once I'm more established. The commission rate scales well beyond that, but I don't know if it's reasonable to expect to bring in that much business, at least not within the next several years. I'd have to double and triple their current total revenues to see total compensation of ~$100k-$140k. I know this is very situational, but does this sound like a reasonable offer? Let me know if there is anything worth considering that I have left out. Also, if you have any general advice for someone just getting started in sales, I'm all ears. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Finding a New Role With a Spotty Resume Posted: 07 Jul 2021 10:02 AM PDT I'm trying to land a new B2B SaaS role and am having a difficult go of it. At my last employer, my entire team was cut due to COVID. Since then I've been working on some projects and interviewing here and there, but recently have been looking harder to get back in sales. The problem is, due to a variety of circumstances, some of which I'll accept responsibility for, I feel like I'm untouchable. I have several short tenures on my resume and it seems like employers see that and shy away. And sales is supposed to be the one career path where that doesn't matter as much. I'm getting some first interviews and occasionally moving to a few more in the process, but most of the time I'm ignored or passed over after the first interview. Am I being too anxious? Is this perfectly normal and I can probably expect to find a decent role if I keep at it and play the numbers game? Or is there anything in particular I can do to overcome the stigma I've attached to myself? Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |
If you need stats about sales trends, where do you go? Posted: 07 Jul 2021 10:01 AM PDT Just wondering which are the trusted sources for trends in sales these days? Do you know of a third-party site that shares stats gathered from trusted sources? [link] [comments] |
Tips to using Engage by Zoominfo? Posted: 07 Jul 2021 10:01 AM PDT Hey all - We are getting Zoominfo's Engage tool today, it's going to be very helpful for me as we DO NOT HAVE A CRM (yes that is right, no functioning CRM...), & I am doing everything in excel, manually sending emails & calling manually using my work cellphone. Does anyone have any tips for using this tool? We are a security manufacturer, I am our only SDR (all B2B, scheduling appointments for our BDMs).
Hopefully, that's enough info for those of you that use this tool, any help is appreciated! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 Jul 2021 09:30 AM PDT Recently got a job as an SDR and memorizing the script is my biggest downfall. I do cold calls for a marketing company. This is only my second day, I have no problems making calls or anything like that I just don't always know what to say or lose my place in my script which creates a huge delay for what I should be saying, making it very obvious I'm reading a script. I hate it. It makes me so mad when I do that. The script is 21 pages, can you leave a few tips for how I can memorize this faster? [link] [comments] |

What are typical commission rates for recurring/subscription products like corporate software? Posted: 07 Jul 2021 08:47 AM PDT I can imagine a wide variety of setups here, as there's often a large upfront implementation cost, and then monthly/annual revenue. Commission on that recurring revenue FOREVER seems unsustainable so it must be something else. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 Jul 2021 08:40 AM PDT Hey salespeople, I'm actively searching for jobs and recently made it through to a final round at an up and coming tech company. Big news, and I should be getting an offer letter later today which is great. However, the salary really fell short of my expectation. It's an entry level job to be fair, and there is a structure to move from SDR to AE but let's just say their starting OTE was the floor of what I thought my base would be. My question is, is there a tactful way to filter out these opportunities from the start? This job had a rigorous interview process (even for sales), where I went through 3 rounds of 5 interviews including a 2 hour stretch for the final round. I'm wondering if anyone knows a way to ask about a range for the position in the initial HR screen to help me save time down the line. [link] [comments] |
