None of my friends really care about their future

    Posted: 10 Jun 2021 02:07 PM PDT

I am a large believer that who you surround yourself with is who you will become, but I am having trouble finding people who have the same mindset as me. I don't drink/do drugs and I spend a lot of my time studying. I want to become more involved in starting a business and really working hard towards something but I don't have anyone around me who thinks the same. How do you find people?

Discount to customers if they post on social media?

    Posted: 10 Jun 2021 01:34 PM PDT

Hello, a friend threw this question at me. "Why don't you offer a discount (X amount off their bill.) if a customer promises to post on social media?" This has nothing to do with reviews. I know buying reviews is a bad idea. I'm just asking for them to post about my business/service on social media. I like to think it's okay because it's similar to a referral discount like them telling a neighbor or friend about me. Social media is just more "public" and less personal than a typical referral. We already give them a "New Client Packet" that has a paper in there mentioning reviews and our referral discount. They get a free gift at their next service if they refer us to someone who uses our service. I collect payment at the time of service. What are your thoughts? Thanks in advance.

I decided to use my podcast to interview other entrepreneurs

    Posted: 10 Jun 2021 04:23 PM PDT

About a month ago I decided to start my own daily podcast where I am documenting my journey trying to live out of my side projects. I realized that there were many other entrepreneurs in the same situation and decided that it would be cool to also hear and share their stories within my podcast.

So far I have already interviewed 3 entrepreneurs and have lined up many more interviews. (here is the latest one)

If you are also an entrepreneur, I would love to hear your story and projects, let me know if you are interested in participating.

    cheers

My 1.5 year journey + Need advice

    Posted: 10 Jun 2021 03:19 PM PDT

    Previous post: https://www.reddit.com/r/Entrepreneur/comments/i402u9/my_1_year_journey/?

Tldr summary: I freelanced a bit as a social. Saved the money. Invested it in an app. The app brings me over 500$ monthly.

I am currently 16 years old my app is still up and running. After my revenue from my app started to stabilized a bit i started buying and selling anime figures online. I bought new and second hand figures from Japanese stores using proxy websites and took a commission of anywhere from 30-80$ per transaction. I think i sold a total of like 30 figures before PayPal asked me for id verification which i obviously failed. And my PayPal account got deactivated.

I was a bit lost for a while. And i kept spending the money I was earning from app and figure sales in stupid ways for personal stuff, video games, manga, etc. This was really stupid of me. I never tried to really reinvest the money for some reason. When my PayPal got taken down and when i couldn't sell figures i realized the money i was earning was earning can dissapear at anytime. I had a sort of realization the and there.

After that, I started to buy and sell Instagram accounts online for awhile but then I ran inti the problem of id verification. I edited my id and sent it it got approved but then after a month i got a notification saying my account got deactivated. An another failure.

After this i tried my hands in crypto and lost a 1000$ bc i was literally gambling by putting high leverages. I lost that 1000$ in 5 mins. I realized something then an there. I was playing with money. I didn't know how crypto worked. I was investing in something in which i had no knowledge about. I realized i had to invest in myself.

I spent the following months investing in myself. I learnt about digital marketing, and its basics on a course provided by google. I also learned about ad management, social media management, social media advertising, influencer marketing and some photoshop skills. I also learnt about how the global economy actually works and how buissness and start ups are actually work too. After this i went to get part time internships where i worked for free and got a lot of experience in these skills. I was once even lut incharge of a 5000$ ad campaign.

After doing all this, I wanted to make an app and website. It's an app that let's buissnesses and individuals to schedule posts on instagram. I sourced the app development to one lf my friends in Sri Lanka who has been a programmer for 6 years and paid a fraction of the price for the same quality of work i would here here. Weate just waiting to get access yo fb's API now to launch the app. I don't have a real marketing budget so i am trying to find some investors everywhere.

I recently got an another job as a social media manager and social media marketer to support my next project. I am making an anime virtual assistant which will be powered by gpt neo or gt3. This App requires a lot of work from my part and the other job i got also eats up my time. I am still in college/higcinghschool (europe usa name is different i think ) I have to keep up my grades.

But recently i have been facing more and more problems. My parents oblige me to go to university because of our family condition(immigrants etc) My parents are Asian btw. They said even if my apps worked and i made more than enough money i still need to go to uni. This makes no sense to me. My dad doesn't support me ever since i started working a lot more than usual on my projects. He says i don't spend time woth my family . My grades are steadily dropping. I spend too much tim Infront of the computer etc. My father scolds me for these stuff..And now he gets angry over every little stuff. Especially when I asked about not going to uni if i made enough money, we had a heated argument. My mom always confronts him and calms him down. But i am bot the only one getting scolded anymore my mom is too My mom is the one who keeps my whole thing going.

But today my mom came to me crying and saying i have to reduce my work time, the time j spend on my phone, etc. Saying uni and education is more important than money. And she can't take it anymore being in the middle of the dispute with my father. She literally said i feel like" i am living in hell at times because of you two. I never had any problems with your dad before, we barely had arguements before. Now it happens on a daily basis" This just broke me I don't know what to do anymore. I don't want there to be a family problem bc of me. But i don't want to stop working on my projects either . I just don't know anymore. I am emotionally lost.

    Print On Demand vs Wholesale

    Posted: 10 Jun 2021 06:53 PM PDT

TLDR: im starting a footwear and apparel company and I don't know if i should do print on demand or wholesale and cut and sew. If you have any pointers/pros and cons on which is better I'd greatly appreciate it.

So, I have a question. I'm starting a footwear and apparel company(think of Nike, Adidas, etc)where I'll be selling my own shoes and clothing. This will all be custom made. But the issue I'm having is when it comes to start up cost for the clothing and determining how much product I should get. I don't know if I should buy blanks wholesale and do cut and sew and get them screen printed, heat pressed, DTG, embroidered, etc where the start up is high or print on demand where I don't have to worry about inventory, start up cost, etc. Now I do know this decision is entirely something I should be able to make but I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place on trying to make a decision on which one would be better. If anyone or someone can help me out I'd greatly appreciate it.

    How to handle instant gratification

    Posted: 10 Jun 2021 06:44 PM PDT

Hey I'm an artist and a producer as well I just wanna ask other entrepreneurs how do they deal with instant gratification . I notice when I start making music I'm always worried about having "fun" sometimes I'll just be making music without feeling anything which makes me question myself. I've heard from other people that's a normal emotion and that you will not feel joy every time you are working at something but it's about the process of you doing it. Does anyone else deal with this while doing something that is their passion ?

Starting a niche rental business and have a question about the rental agreement

    Posted: 10 Jun 2021 06:15 PM PDT

Is it legally binding if I have a rental agreement online where they check a box to accept all the terms? For instance, there is a clause that says they owe x amount for damages incurred would it allow me to charge their card because they checked a box? Or is it better to get a docusigned or actual signature? Thanks!

Accounting/book keeping app for yoga teachers?

    Posted: 10 Jun 2021 05:03 PM PDT

Hi I am a yoga teacher and I teach donation based yoga classes once a week to raise money for different organizations fighting for justice. 100% of profits are donated.

As my business grows I have incurred more expenses (ie. monthly online waiver form website bill etc) and I am starting to record them so that I can cover them with the class revenue.

We eventually plan to turn the business into a 501c3, but for now we want to get our foundation stronger.

Does anyone know of good software that will help us track: Attendees at each event Their donation amounts The totals donated to each charity throughout the year And all of our business expenses

The hard part is the fact that each weekly yoga event needs to be tracked seperately, but we also need monthly/annual financial data.

    Help please :) thank you.

And of course free options are preferred, but will consider affordable options too.

Insurance idea that moved to Development of Mobile app

    Posted: 10 Jun 2021 04:22 PM PDT

Hey, I was outsourced to do an Insurance mobile app, and later on, I didn't get paid and I'm stuck with the full app source code.

I want to tell you the idea behind this startup and if anyone loves the idea, I can release all the source files and the app for a fair price.

    This is what the startup is all about;

The Mobile app (startup) is a bridge between Insurance companies and Insurance customers.

The Customer will request a Quote about their Car Insurance.

The insurance companies registered with the Mobile App(Startup) will reply with prices for each quote submitted.

The customer will see various quotes from the different insurance companies.

The customer will select its preferred quote and Pay for it.

Thank you for reading up to this point and if you want more details or want to add/change some stuff, please kindly reach out!

Below is a snippet of the app interface which is already developed for Andriod and IOS users.

How to find a marketing data/reporting contractor?

    Posted: 10 Jun 2021 03:28 PM PDT

I am struggling to find someone to help me with a project. This is for a company with 30-ish staff, running a variety of marketing campaigns:

    • creating leads for mortgage advisers (email leads, booking meetings etc)
    • buying info products (online course, paid classes etc)

Everything is "working" now, and we are going through a phase focused on improving what we have rather than adding new ads/products/lead gens etc.

I've tried looking through Upwork etc. but the people I find are just GA people who set up some goals with a thank you page. I'm looking to go beyond that and really develop a robust system with UTMs, and in ActiveCampaign to track as a starting point:

    1. Where a lead first originated from
    2. Where the first meeting originated from (ScheduleOnce)
    3. What channels clients used, ie do most clients buy one masterclass, watch a youtube video, open 3 newsletters.

Can anyone suggest what sort of person I am looking for? ie BA, Marketing Data expert?
Can anyone suggest where to find that person?
Can anyone suggest anything else to save me from shooting myself in the foot?

Can someone help with loan repayment terms?

    Posted: 10 Jun 2021 03:17 PM PDT

I am looking at Virgin Start Up loans which offers you 12 or 60 month repayment terms.

I am looking to borrow £10,000. If I choose the 12 months repayment it will be around £730 a month, whilst the 60 months will be a lot cheaper at £230 a month.

Why wouldn't everyone choose the 60 month term?

14 Ways to Show Empathy in B2B SaaS Content Marketing

    Posted: 10 Jun 2021 02:05 PM PDT

If your content marketing isn't hitting the mark, there could be a big reason why: it doesn't show empathy for your audience. According to Forrester, nearly 60% of B2B tech buyers feel that the content they're provided is largely "useless."

This study came in 2019, by all accounts a simpler time. Today, customer expectations are even higher. Coming out of Covid, there's a more human, more personal element to successful marketing, likely a response to everything from inspirational commercials to crowdsourced social campaigns that asked people to get creative from quarantine.

To resonate with users today, content marketing needs to leverage ways to show brand empathy and tap into authentic human connection (yes, even in B2B).

We know that, right? But how do we actually do it? How can we translate empathy from a shared feeling into an actionable way of creating content?

I asked this question to marketing and empathy experts who practice it every day, and I collected some great real-life examples from companies like Lunchbox, Notion, Slack, ClickUp, Xero, Intercom, and Descript that are putting empathy into action.

    1. Talk (and listen) to real people
Active listening is a practice first developed in counseling and in dispute resolution, but it's incredibly effective as a research tool as well. Instead of listening in order to fix a problem, the interviewer is simply listening to understand.

    2. Ask questions
Sounds obvious, right? But too often actually sitting down and speaking to customers is the first marketing activity to go, especially when departments are overstretched.

    3. Echo the answers you hear
As marketers, truly listening to customers' problems also helps us articulate and understand the problem in the specific way that they experience it.

    4. Immerse yourself in buyer communities
Keyword research and interviewing can tell you some about what matters to users, including their intent when they reach your page. But SEO strategist Jason Hewett recommends going deeper to truly learn more about your user's values and problems.

    5. Develop (and actually use) marketing personas
When you're putting together your persona, avoid using adjectives, which are shortcuts around details and can sometimes make the fatal error of labeling personas (for example as "impatient" or "nitpicky") instead of truly empathizing with their problems.

    6. Tell fictional stories that star your ideal users
Storytelling is powerful. Narratives bring order to the chaos and help us make sense of events by giving them patterns to follow.

    7. Tell real stories that star your customers (in their own words)
Testimonials, case studies, and other "success story" formats like video interviews allow your actual customers to be the heroes and invite your potential customers inside to see how they succeeded.

    8. Get personal with names and faces
Amplifying other's names and faces as part of compelling storytelling can help your users connect more with them and their challenges.

    9. Talk to your users as real people
Too much B2B marketing content forgets that it's speaking to flesh-and-blood humans who happen to be employees with work needs.

    10. Normalize human emotion
Rather than stoking fears (a move that's manipulative and unethical; a poor way to use empathy in marketing), successfully empathetic campaigns aim to name the emotions that users are feeling—and then reassure them.

    11. Practice extreme honesty
Much like self-deprecating humor is nearly always a win in social situations, zealous honesty in B2B marketing works. One reason is that it's so darn rare, and it helps brands stand out.

    12. Accept users' perceptions as their reality
Innovative businesses with empathy at the forefront can use it to inspire product-led content that answers users' questions and empowers them with new solutions.

    13. Guide readers to the right next step
Good CTAs show empathy because they've considered how their ask might be interpreted or considered.

    14. Give more than you take
Businesses can use valuable, top-quality content to educate their audience and build brand goodwill as experts in their industry—so that when the time does come for a client to look for a solution, the brand isn't a stranger to them.

In your experience what was your most successful marketing?

    Posted: 10 Jun 2021 01:35 PM PDT

Been looking at and reading about YouTube advertising. Algorithms help target a relative audience which is good. I know there are other methods of advertising online and offline. Wanted to see what the community's experience with advertising was. What was most successful for you? How much of a crowd did it draw? What kind of budget was your marketing on? Any other tips would be much appreciated.
