    Advice on jumping ship

    Posted: 08 Jun 2021 05:13 AM PDT

    Hey guys and gals!

I wonder, if you could offer me some advice on jumping ship. I have been in sales just enough to be marketable on the job market (2 years). And have absolutely killed my quota in the first year. However the company seems to be going through a lot of internal issues in our operations team which is really strenuous as it basically puts more work on me. The job itself doesn't have any boundaries and you just feel on the clock 24/7/365. Money wise I am doing really well, as mentioned before I killed my quota last year and made my first time ever low 6 figures. Off to the bad stuff that is making me jump ship, besides the issues with operations and the lack of life work balance I mentioned (not going to go into specific details), absolutely toxic atmosphere, and increased goals and paperwork requirements from the upper sales management (trust me it's paperwork that hasn't made me, or anyone else a penny and is not necessary). I got a few more complaints but I think you get the idea. I'm also commission only as well, but that's a plus as well as a minus.

Now, I have two job interviews with startups that are in SaaS, first one is for an SDR role (that might be a bit out of my salary target by about 35k) and an AE for another one base + uncapped commission. Both seem to have a good atmosphere, growth potential and a work life balance.

My problem is I am scared of making the jump, biggest concern is if I am going to make it at another company, my financials and I also feel some kind of crazy loyalty to my current employer as well. The lower and middle management has been absolutely outstanding and I feel like I owe them quite a bit.

So I am stuck, do I try to see if the grass is greener on the other side, or do I stay and just try to get used to what I am dealing with? Have any of you gone from a higher paying gig to something less, to get more stability in your daily life?

Best company to start a SaaS job?

    Posted: 08 Jun 2021 06:03 AM PDT

Currently exploring programs with Salesforce and Citrix to become an AE. Also have potential to reach out to AWS and Cisco. Mostly looking for advice between the first two but open to hear all opinions on companies not listed too.

Have you worked at AWS, or know anyone that does? I have passed the final stage interview and would like to understand what the company is really like to work for.

    Posted: 08 Jun 2021 12:49 AM PDT

I have one job offer that i have accepted, that pays £80k base with an uncapped commission of 10% of anything I sell. The top rep there has earnt over £200k in the past two years.

I have also gotten past final stage interview with Amazon AWS and we have scheduled a call to negotiate the offer.

Can anyone share some intel on what it's like to work for AWS as an AE?

I’m struggling with virtual. Are you?

    Posted: 08 Jun 2021 09:17 AM PDT

Hey everyone-this sub has been so helpful to me over the years. I mainly read. I've learn a lot and honestly get my feelings validated which helps keep me sane. Anyway, like everyone, I've been selling virtually for over a year now. Things are opening up but a majority of my internal and external meetings are still through zoom. What's been the most frustrating aspect of virtual for everyone with sales? I feel it but having trouble articulating. Thanks in advance fam.

How does your company feel about the iOS 15 privacy updates?

    Posted: 08 Jun 2021 10:33 AM PDT

One of the iOS 15 privacy features will disable email pixel tracking, so if you use SalesLoft or any other outreach tracking tool, no more being able to tell when a prospect has opened your email.

My company hasn't mentioned this at all which is surprising to me since they prioritize cold emails over calls.

Personally, this won't really affect me. I prefer making more calls over email outreach anyway, and laughing at all of the daily "COLD CALLING IS DEAD!!!" posts prior to this happening; wonder what these people think now.

    What about you guys?

    Seeking a Sales Plan Template

    Posted: 08 Jun 2021 12:54 PM PDT

Does anyone have a template that they want to share for drafting a new sales plan? I found some decent content just searching the web, but thought I would check with you gurus as well. I am working with a smaller retailer with about 20 sales staff, and they want a sales plan that lays out a strategy for the next 24 months. I've been in sales management for 20 years, but never drafted a plan like this, so a template will be a huge help to get started. Hubspot has the best version that I have found thus far. Thanks all!

What is a fair counter offer?

    Posted: 08 Jun 2021 12:06 PM PDT

I have been working in inbound sales 6 months and do well. I have had a couple of recruiters reach out on linkedin and have gotten an offer from an HR tech company. Base pay of 35k + 35k OTE with 5000 stock options with a 4-year vesting and a 1-year cliff. The company is in a more lucrative field and I'd be getting a promotion in pay and "title" from my current position.

How can I maximize my counter offer and what advice would you give to someone new to salary negotiation?

I have considered asking for a promotion in title to "senior account executive" with a base pay bump after my first 6 months. 5k? This is a start up and I literally would be a senior account exec after that span of time so it doesn't seem crazy to me.

    Thoughts?

What is your best break up email?

    Posted: 08 Jun 2021 11:13 AM PDT

What break up email has yielded you the best results? What is a successful breakup email usually made up of? Do you generally try to make them comedic, and does that usually work if so?

How is doing sales at salesforce?

Not sure what my actual role should be called

    Posted: 08 Jun 2021 08:07 AM PDT

Hello! I'm have been absorbing everyone's information and am grateful to have found this sub.

I am currently a manufacturer's rep. I manage a whole state: travel throughout, prospecting for new leads, opening new accounts, educating and on boarding accounts, and providing ongoing support and advice for the life of the account. I'm a contractor on 100% commission, and I've been in this role for seven years.

The title they gave us was BDM, Business Development Manager. We used to be "Territory Managers", when the company was 100% contractors in sales, but they have moved 75% of the outside sales team to employee status as turnover happened. I am one of the last remaining contractors and have the least tenure and smallest territory, dollar wise, of the contractors.

The writing is on the wall: I believe in the next year or so, they will try to move the rest of us to employees, as it seems like a major change is coming. The employees have terrible comp plans, and my income would be reduced if I were on their plan, so I would leave rather than do that.

My question is this: what does the job I've described equal to, role-wise, in more traditional sales jobs? You all seem to have specifically compartmentalized roles with names that you all understand: SDR, AE, BDR, etc. What do those do in the sales process, and which is more appropriate for what I currently do? I don't want to shoot for something I'm not qualified for; I equally don't want to start at the bottom again if I don't have to.

Thank you in advance for your input.

First days as a sales -> What should I learn from the company before going in the field?

    Posted: 08 Jun 2021 01:25 AM PDT

    Hi everyone,

I will be starting my first job as a sales (mid-sized service company, below 15 employees) from July 1st and have a background in business, good knowledge about sales theory (books, podcast, etc.) but no experience in the field.

For now, only the two directors were bringing in the business, so there is no sales training or anything.
I have a period of 2 months on-site with them to learn about the company, product, market, etc. before going on the field.

How to best get ready? Which information should I collect within this training period?

I have a few ideas related to Ideal Customer Profile, Acquisition channels, Product, etc. but I'm sure you guys know more about me on this!

Thanks a lot in advance for your input :)

Would love your advice on my resume & cover letter

    Posted: 07 Jun 2021 03:58 PM PDT

    Resume and Cover Letter

To preface, I am located in Canada

So I wanted to highlight my experience as a Communications VP at my former University's Sports Business Club, where I prospected and established relationships with industry professionals. But chronologically, it doesn't work too well as it was 4 years ago. I want them to see how motivated I am for a career in sales.

To my surprise, I've gotten a few interviews with the resume as-is. I'd like to explore opportunities to the fullest, so I'm looking for any advice I can get.

Please share your constructive criticism, would love to hear from current SDR/BDR/AEs in the industry. I'd also like your opinion on paying for a professional resume writer. That way, I'd know for a fact that my resume is ATS-compliant. It would be absolutely amazing if someone could point me in the right direction!

Looking for an app or software that will schedule and send texts for me

    Posted: 07 Jun 2021 01:40 PM PDT

I work in healthcare and an outside sales rep. I'm always thinking of something I need to text an account but sometimes can't be sent until the next day. Is there something that I could text but not send until the day and time I choose? I know Gmail does this but wanting to do this with text messages.

How Do Companies Send Personalized Mass Emails In Outlook?

    Posted: 07 Jun 2021 07:22 PM PDT

I get emails that are addressed to me specifically but are clearly generic emails spammed to a load of people. How do companies do this?
