Posted: 05 May 2021 05:36 PM PDT I realized I totally procrastinated and heehawed the idea of a remote overseas assistant to help in my real estate business for years. I had heard it worked for others. I literally knew agents who's business benefited greatly from having a VA. I would just get lost on upwork and other freelance sites, and overwhelmed at the prospect of training them. Plus I had heard horror stories from colleagues of taking hours or days to train a VA and they'd just vanish on you. Hanging out with my girlfriend and her bff a few months ago, and she has been doing project management work for years. We get to talking, and all three of us come up with the idea basically of connecting small business owners who are too busy to know or care with a VA that could take a lot of their workload off their shoulders. Our service would basically handle all the backend communication, processes, CRM, VA hiring etc to make it easier so they wouldn't get overwhelmed the way i was. It also helped that my partner is actually from the Phillipines originally, and her family has a lot of connections there and we were able to hire 5 VA's off the bat that were former employees at IBM and former VAs for brokerages in the states and were incredible. A few months in and we are gaining traction and super excited with the few clients we've helped already (mostly fellow realtors i know personally and a few friends of ours that have small businesses). Our VA's love us, love our clients, and are super thankful for the consistent work we provide them. Not to mention we pay them directly so they don't get dinged by the cut that sites like upwork take. And we pay more than the average for VAs in the region. Anyone on here had experiences with VA's overseas good or bad? Tips on how to help more clients? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 May 2021 06:59 PM PDT I started a window cleaning company. How do I figure out what things to look at for starting a business? I already purchased a business license and opened a bank account. I'm curious about - 1 - how to pay myself a wage from my company and how that would look from a tax standpoint 2 - how to figure out which QuickBooks to use. 3 - who to contact about getting a website set up and getting a logo that I could have embroidered onto some work shirts. Other business related concerns that I am undoubtedly missing. Thoughts and advice are appreciated. EDIT: I was a professional window cleaner for 2 years in the past, so I have worked with QuickBooks and have experience with customer service, along with being able to clean windows well. How can I sell fanart/fanwork legally online and through conventions ? Posted: 06 May 2021 03:34 AM PDT Hello ! I am currently a minor and I have dreams of selling and making keychains, prints, pins, and other merchandise of some of my favorite franchises. However I fear that I may be breaking some kind of copyright law. I watched a video stating that "In theory, even making and posting fanart is against the copyright law. What more if you sell it" I heard that you can legally sell fanart through red bubble. However I'm looking into selling it at either my own website, or through etsy. I also heard that, in some cases, the company/studio it originally came from more or less wont care if a small business is making merchandise for their franchise. As suing a smaller business would look bad on their part. Asking permission is also a thing but I doubt I'd actually get a response. But I'd rather be safe then sorry. Any advice ? Thank you in advance for answering !! [link] [comments] |
Can I take the home office deduction if part of my apt is used for storage? Posted: 05 May 2021 08:18 AM PDT I don't have a traditional home office with a desk, chair, etc, but I do use a sectioned off part of my apartment exclusively for product storage. Is this considered a home office or should this be reported on line 20b on my schedule c? And even without a home office, can I expense some of my monthly rent since part of the apt is used for storage? I'm a SMLLC (disregarded entity) - thanks. [link] [comments] |

Promoting Social Media accounts for a small business. Posted: 05 May 2021 02:10 PM PDT Hello there! Guys, my mother and I owe a small cafe and bakery. Now, I want to expand our business a little bit. I created a few social media profiles, but nothing really works. I track the number of viewers and likes, and no one really cares about what I have created. Maybe I'm doing it the wrong way? So far, I have created social media accounts on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. I also upgraded our website a little bit and tried to update our page at least once a week. I add news and information about any possible upcoming events there. I've read about posts consistency and follow this rule by posting 2-3 times per week. Not to be so annoying and also not to make my audience forget about me. Still, I have only 1,000 subscribers, and it is not enough for the place where I live. Now, we are thinking about adding the delivery service for our customers. I'm working on creating an online menu. That's why I'm worried that we are not popular on our social media accounts. I'm afraid that if we add the delivery option to our site, it will be pointless and just a waste of time and money. We have our regular customers that come for a cup of coffee and a fresh cupcake almost every day. But I want to expand our business and maybe open a branch of cafes in our city. That's why I decided to promote our business on social media. Besides, I don't see any other possible ways of advertising that business. Someone suggested hiring this company — https://www.searchbloom.com/national-seo/ to do SEO for me. Has someone tried hiring an SEO company? Does it help? Unfortunately for me, I'm the only one who cares about finance and marketing. My mum only bakes cakes when she feels inspired. She got that business from my dad, and he did the rest of the work to run this business. Things have turned that way, that it is the only source of income for our family. I'm looking for a piece of advice here, and hopefully, someone can help me. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 May 2021 07:52 PM PDT I work in manufacturing (private label and branded) in a very niche field. We handle a huge amount of different customers, some at very large margins with low volumes and others at very low margins with high volume. We have a very long sales cycle and COVID really hit us hard. Our core business dropped 80% and we made the decision to take more contract customers to replace the revenue. As a result of losing money month over month, we sold a very large amount of deals with a large array of large and small customers at dramatically different margins. The end results gets us to today - we have replaced our revenue twice over ($9M in currently booked revenue) but we are significantly oversold. Here are my options: 1) Cut the largest customer (at the lowest margin) to make room for the lower volume, higher margin customers. 2) Cut customers based on ease of production - IE remove the most painful customers regardless of margin to improve operations. 3) Adopt a policy where people put their money where their mouth is - change policies to collect deposits from customers that are the most eager to work with us. This is somewhat more fair, but challenges the emerging brands at the highest margins. 4) Things I am not considering. :) I would never have put us in this situation but the alternative was going out of business - so I am trying to unwind a bad situation. Posted: 06 May 2021 02:52 AM PDT Hey, we have built an ecological brand producing sustainable bottles. We've had nice sales and nice following on social media. However, our founding team doesn't have time to run it and we feel it is time to sell it. What are the best places to sell? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 May 2021 10:10 AM PDT The Small Business Administration today informed us today that the #PPP funding has been exhausted and that the PPP application portal has now stopped accepting applications. There is approximately $6 billion in funding for previously submitted loan applications subject to SBA hold codes that have yet to be resolved. The good news is, there is approximately $8 billion remaining in CFI'S (Community financial institutions). If you have not yet applied, we highly recommend you finding a local CFI and apply immediately. [link] [comments] |

Starting drone photography business for real estate. Anything I need to look out for? Posted: 05 May 2021 06:18 AM PDT I want to start a business offering aerial photos/videos for real estate companies. Are there any unique things to this I should look out for? What are some repetitive tasks that you have to do on a day-to-day basis? Posted: 05 May 2021 08:19 AM PDT Hey, small business people. I am running a small consultancy business. And I was wondering what are some of the repetitive tasks you do? My day-to-day repetitive task is checking Reddit and making coffee. In the business world, it's to look through a LinkedIn Sales navigator for new leads. What do you do? [link] [comments] |

How do I initiate a blanket purchase order with my vendor? Posted: 05 May 2021 04:34 PM PDT I inquired about blanket orders in order to cut down on the lead time, which is typically 10 weeks. Instead of manufacturing 1000 units at once, they'd manufacture 2000, and I'd just pay for 1000. Then when I need the next thousand, it will be ready to go. They tell me that they can do a blanket order for however many units I like. However, I have no idea how to initiate this, and I don't see a template. Typically I send them a normal purchase order. If anyone can help, I'd greatly appreciate it. [link] [comments] |
What do you guys do for IT help? Posted: 05 May 2021 08:00 PM PDT We're not at the stage yet where we need someone full time for IT support, but it might be coming soon. Problem is we don't need the high end IT support as much as I need someone to work on our software doing repetitive data entry to round out our database. The actual IT part will be limited to managing a Windows server and about 8 desktops throughout the company. I can't see myself hiring an IT person for a job that will be 75% Excel work. So the question is, how do you all manage to hire people for these sorts of things? Will I have any luck hiring a person without a degree that is just "good with computers" and hope he can grow with the company, or do I need to hire an IT firm and just find a data entry clerk? Any other options I'm missing? The latter solution wouldn't be ideal for two reasons, it's costly and it's difficult to hire out small jobs like "hey, Joe needs his email client reinstalled" which takes maybe 15 minutes, but would cost me an hour and trip charge via an outsourced solution. Any advice? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 May 2021 02:55 PM PDT So I was hoping to get someone's opinion on the scenario I find myself in. I will begin a full time job in about a month and a half which I'll pay $60k per year with retirement and health benefits. Which I'm pretty excited about. However I am also starting a small business venture in real estate and have secured enough funding to get it started within the next week or two. Goal is to get as much of the thought process done so that I can let my team run the business while I attend the other full time job. I also want to give everyone full benefits and premium/deductible paid health insurance. I'm also trying to figure out 401k plans since my employees have different wants when it comes to investing options. Can I offer employer contributions to self directed 401k accounts? Who/which broker does this? Tips appreciated [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 May 2021 11:37 PM PDT I know this is a feature that Square doesn't currently have, but is there another POS system that has a decent feature that allows for easy in person and invoice down payments? I usually am doing orders for 1k+ that require down payments of half, but to do so in Square I'm just ringing it up as the items at half price and then ringing it up again later (less than ideal). With online orders I can do an invoice and then it works when I email it to them, but not all my customers are even remotely tech savy enough to do that (sadly). Anyways, any other suggestions would be much appreciated. Edit: Grammar [link] [comments] |
How do you get more job applicants? Posted: 05 May 2021 01:27 PM PDT I've become an unofficial assistant manager at a small local diner. This job is usually designed for teenagers who want a little extra cash. I've been given this position since I've been there the longest and know the ins-and-outs of her business. This year, we are absolutely empty of new hires. My boss has given me a task to somehow come up with new people. How should I go about doing this? Can I drop applications off at the high school? We already have a post on Facebook. I highly doubt teens would be looking on websites such as indeed for job applications. Since this is a small town, they just go door to door. Our problem is that we are a little further down the highway than main street, so most people don't think of us when driving around searching for jobs. Any suggestions? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 May 2021 10:52 PM PDT Has anyone on here tried launching their own app, and how much time/money did it take them? Questions for Contractors and Customers of HomeAdvisor Posted: 05 May 2021 10:45 PM PDT Hey all, I'm a student researching into HomeAdvisor and unfortunately not too much information can be found on their website without investing money into becoming a contractor/customer, so if anyone has experience, would love to hear all thoughts. Here are some questions I'm looking to answer: For Contractors - Do you still use HomeAdvisor? Do you use their lead-generation service or fixed price service? If fixed price, when did you start switching over? - Does HomeAdvisor still have an annual subscription fee and connection fee per lead? How much do those cost? - What is the process like for signing up to be a contractor for HomeAdvisor? For Customers - Do you have the HomeAdvisors membership? Why/why not? - Do you used fixed price or lead-generation? DM's are also open for anything else you want to discuss about the company, would appreciate any thoughts. Thanks all! [link] [comments] |
