    Losing faith in Agent? Insurance

    Losing faith in Agent? Insurance

    Losing faith in Agent?

    Posted: 05 May 2021 09:46 AM PDT

I've had a great relationship with an Agent/broker that has sold me insurance for the past 20 years. He always finds me great coverage at a great price. The problem is he started sharing his office with a younger family member that is trying to get into the insurance game. This time around when it was time for my renewal he said this family member who I sense will totally take over at some point when he retires ran my numbers and actually came in cheaper from my long term agent and I should go with him. I stressed that saving a few bucks a year means nothing as I trust my agents experience. He insisted I go with his co agent instead...

The co agent is obviously green behind the ears and I don't think he's doing this 100% full time yet. My issue was two weeks ago I replaced one of my cars. Called him up and asked him to give me the new rate as I pay in full. He called me an hour later and said good news the rates didn't change at all.... I smelt a rat so later that evening I had to go to the actual insurance website and pull up my policy. He ended up doubling my deductible on my new car to keep my rate the same. I quickly called into the 1800 number explained the issue and they changed the deductible back to the original amount and took a payment of $53 over the phone. I was pretty upset about this, but would have been even more upset if something would have happen and I find out my deductible is twice as expensive as it was. I didn't say anything, but I started looking at insurance and I have found another company that will give me the same insurance I have for $400 cheaper a year. Is it a dick move to cancel my auto policy 4 months into a year policy that is paid in full? After this incident I don't think I can actually trust this guy any more.... Am I wrong to fell that way?

Flying traffic cone hit my car

    Posted: 06 May 2021 04:10 AM PDT

What I'm about to write sounds like a load of bs but tonight when I was driving on the freeway at a construction zone, the car in front of me couldn't merge in time. It was either hitting the traffic cones or side swiping a semi truck for him. One of the cones he hit flew back n hit my car (I guess you can say I hit it too). I couldn't react fast enough in a split second and now my front bumper is cracked. Is it possible to file a claim on my insurance or do you think I'm outta luck? I know there was construction there at night because I live near the next exit so I knew the layout of the cones but I don't have a dash cam to prove anything. Without prove I feel like my insurance won't even believe me because I won't even believe it if someone told me this story

    Edit: I have Geico btw

    Home insurance depreciation claim

    Posted: 06 May 2021 02:16 AM PDT

In NJ, recently began major repairs after a house fire and part of my insurance claim is recoverable depreciation. What documentation should I be keeping/putting together from the beginning of the repairs to ensure a smooth process to claim the recoverable depreciation when repairs are complete?

Cant get the claims adjuster to give me a call

    Posted: 05 May 2021 04:25 PM PDT

So this is a bit of a rant and also a sad attempt to get some advice.

My dad was involved in a hit and run last week and we filed a claim through the Progressive website the same day. We got assigned a claims agent to handle the case. However, there hasn't been a single communication with this claims agent. We've called Progressive, called the claims agent's office, called the claims agent direct number, left messages and emails everyday for a week. And nothing. Not a word from her. And because of that we can't get the claim moving and can't get the car fixed. My dad is unable to go to work because he doesn't have a drivable car.

Everytime I call Progressive's main number, they just transfer my call to her and then I end up leaving our 100th voicemail. Even when I speak to a person in the claims department of Progressive's main number, all they can do is leave a message for our assigned claims adjuster to give us a call.

Its been a week of this and frankly I'm at my wits end. What are our options? If my dad misses anymore days of work, he might lose his job.

I told the cop car was insured but he was going to follow up with insurance company in the morning.. how screwed am i and will he take it as me lying if i didnt know? I have two of the exact same cars, same colour same year and only one is fully insured. If i do get a summons what should i expect and how should i go about reducing the scam of a fine i will be receiving.

Dealing with a difficult adjuster who is veering into bad faith territory on a third party personal injury claim. Will making a complaint against the adjuster and/or insurance company with my state’s insurance commission hurt or help me?

    Posted: 05 May 2021 11:50 PM PDT

I have a claim against a business for personal injury due to negligence. I have been offered a settlement but it's not sufficient for my past and future medical bills and pain and suffering and out of pocket costs. I have submitted past medical bills, and the adjuster (who works for a third party administrator on behalf of the insurance company) says he needs proof of future medical costs to increase the settlement since I'm unsatisfied with it. I sent proof of scripts for future medical costs with actual costs, but he won't address it. I ask for lost wages to be considered, he asks for proof, I sent proof, but he still won't consider it. I ask for an explanation of the settlement amount he gave as is one of the responsibilities under my state's law for adjusters if they are asked. But he wont address my question. He refuses to give me the insurance policy limits of his client even though under my state's law, insurance companies (or their reps) are required if asked. I've involved his supervisor on emails but they refuse to respond. At this point, I've had it and know he is doing this because I'm pro se. He's just refusing to budge on his offer amount no matter what proof I send or what questions I ask (that I'm entitled to answers under state law).

Will filing a complaint against the adjuster (who is licensed in another state than mine) himself and/or the third party administrator get any new traction on my case? As in get it out of the hands of my adjuster and to another adjuster or committee? Or will it hurt my case?

Should I make a complaint with my state (Florida) or their state insurance commission?

The adjuster keeps mentioning their client (a business where I was injured due to employee negligence) not wanting to settle for more than what I've been offered, but I don't understand if they have commercial liability insurance who is actually making this decision- adjuster or client?

    Worth making a claim ?

    Posted: 05 May 2021 10:34 PM PDT

Location: Arlington Texas Recently was involved in a mirror bender in a intersection where I was taking a left turn. In the process the vehicle straight ahead of me was not moving over so I chose to move slight over to my left to avoid a head on. In the process me and the other drivers mirrors touched and bent back. Which was easily fixable by just pushing the mirrors back out. I had no damage on my vehicle. But she claims I scuffed her window and wants to make a claim on my insurance ? What should I do ? Does she ever have a case for such minimal damage?

I have a dash cam video. But will not share publicly.

At fault company car crash. Pay out of pocket or go through companies insurance?

    Posted: 05 May 2021 07:12 AM PDT

    Location: MASSACHUSETTS

Okay so I'm a logistics driver that drove a 16 foot company box truck. I end up going too close to another vehicle and damage it.

My boss asked if I can pay out of pocket. They are billing him $2,800. Which of course he wants me to pay all of it.

So here's my question. Should I pay out of pocket? Or let his insurance pay for it. Will my points be raised significantly on my license and insurance? Wondering how the point system works for people who are driving under the company.

    Rental car damaged by scooter?

    Posted: 05 May 2021 09:36 PM PDT

Hi! I was in a car accident several days ago and my vehicle will be in the shop until late next week. Got a nice rental car through my insurance, my adjuster called me today to let me know that the other party was 100% at fault, and I thought I was good to go.

While walking back to my rental car after work today (parked on a small residential street in a metro area) I saw one of those electric rental scooters up against the car. I was hoping it fell against the tire, but no. I can't catch a break apparently. It left a dent and a few scratches in the front right fender. Not huge, but definitely noticeable.

I didn't get any of the Enterprise insurance add-ons or damage waiver. How screwed am I? I panicked and left a voicemail for my insurance adjuster, but looking back this may have been a bad idea. I don't want my premium to go up if I can avoid it. Should I report it to Enterprise? Or wait until I return the car? Already emailed the scooter company with photos but I'm not optimistic about that route.

    Auto Insurance

    Posted: 05 May 2021 08:41 PM PDT

Been searching quotes for an sr22 tonight for my husband. Texas requires him to have one since he has a dui on his record. But was curious about something.

Would it be cheaper to add him to my insurance or even possible since he requires a sr22 or to just find him his own insurance plan?

We're located in Texas. And he hasn't had any accidents or DUIs in over 6 years. And his DUI was from when he was 21 and is now 31.

I hope that my question makes sense. Been googling away all night. Lol

    Reckless driving

    Posted: 05 May 2021 07:23 PM PDT

KENTUCKY I was written a citation for reckless driving today. I was going 97 mph in a 70 mph zone. I understand it was wrong but I just wasn't thinking straight. I was on my way to see a family member who was just released from the hospital because their arm was pulled into a rolling machine.

I got on the freeway and literally in less than a minute I'm pulled over... I know I messed up.

What makes matters worse is I was just offered a job TODAY for a big franchise which comes with a company vehicle. I have never sped like this before and it's my first violation.

When the company runs my background check will they see the citation? (My court date isn't until mid June) Would most company insurances cover drivers with that? Any information or advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Odometer reading?

    Posted: 05 May 2021 06:31 PM PDT

Got into an accident where I was not at fault. Car was totaled and the property damage portion was paid out to me and they took possession of the car. Here's my problem. At the time I put that I drove like 5 miles a day which was true at the time. But I took a few unexpected road trips between then and the time of the accident and didn't update it cuz, well, it didn't come to mind. So I'm probably thousands of miles over that. My worry is now I'll get in trouble/ they'll sue me for the property damage money they just gave me/ I won't be able to make a claim for my medical bills. Thoughts?

Hit and run on parked car insurance question

    Posted: 05 May 2021 06:02 PM PDT

Location - Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. My friend's car was hit while he was parked and not in it. He has video of it. The estimate for repair from one body shop was $450.

He ran outside right after it happened and asked perpetrator for her insurance info. She refused to provide it and laughed, driving away. He said, "I need your insurance info" and she replied, "it's not that much damage. I gave groceries in the car . I'm going' and left.

Friend called police. Police did not issue a ticket even though the whole incident was on video and she "hit and run" my friend's car, refusing to give her insurance info. The police took a report but did nothing.

He made a claim with his insurance. The insurance adjuster from her insurance ccalled and said they are having trouble getting in touch with her... she won't answer the phone.

What can he do from here?

Rear ended another car - I have liability insurance - what do i do next?

    Posted: 05 May 2021 05:21 PM PDT

So i need some advice on what I should be doing next or if there is any tips or tricks to situations like this. I have liability insurance for my car (that is fully paid off), and i rear ended another car which ended up making that car slightly rear end the car in front of them. I am at fault here. my car and the car i rear ended, sustained quite a bit of damage. This happened in Washington DC. Im a military member so I already got medical care on my part. The driver of the car i rear ended has minor injuries and is getting medical care, the other driver (in front of them) is not injured (so i believe). What should my next steps be? i want to get my car fixed if it makes sense to (costs & what not). Should i hire a lawyer? Should I just let my insurance company deal with it? This is my first accident so im lost with this whole process. I filed the claim already and my insurance company is tracking. I have not made my statement with them yet. Any advice helps and id greatly appreciate it.

Home insurance coverage for water leak advice

    Posted: 05 May 2021 01:22 PM PDT

    Location: SF Bay area, CA.

I'm the owner and long story short, my living room/kitchen's ceiling got wet and water came through my lighting fixtures etc. when the unit above me had a burst pipe water leak. The upstairs unit opened a claim with their insurance and their adjuster is asking for the repair invoice/quotes so they can finalize payment.

My question is this if I should:

    1. Proceed to mitigate/repair my ceiling without waiting for insurance since the quote may change after the work is done, according to the mitigation/general contractor

    OR

    2) Get a ballpark quote from mitigation/general contractor and submit that as my 'invoice' to insurance company. Wait for the check to finalize. And then proceed mitigation/repairs.

    Urgent Question!!

    Posted: 05 May 2021 04:09 PM PDT

I used to be a Maryland Resident. Was driving to see my horse in Virginia, got pulled over for going 81 in a 70. Cop deemed it reckless, had to go to court, get a lawyer. Dismissed with a $250 fine. (Plus court fees of course)

That was almost if not over 3 years ago.

I now live in Texas. Have a Texas license. If looking at my record, will auto insurers be able to tell I have a ticket in Virginia from awhile ago?

T-boned, other drivers insurance is giving me the runaround.

    Posted: 05 May 2021 03:22 PM PDT

So a few days ago I got t-boned. I called my insurance (progressive), and started a claim. I got a call the next day from the other drivers insurance (geico) and they accepted fault. They sent an adjuster to estimate damages to my vehicle, $13k+. The other drivers policy only covers up to $10000 in damages. They are deeming it a total loss. Now I have opted in for gap coverage when I purchased my vehicle and I have around $17k left on my loan. Geico is trying to get me to file through progressive so they would only reimburse the deductible apparently?? So I called my claim rep and am awaiting a call back. So my questions are: Will my rates go up if I I did file through my progressive? If I took the 10k from geico would my gap coverage cover the remaining left on my loan? Any and all info is helpful, I feel like I'm getting dicked around.

Edit: I reside in Florida, apparently the bot says you guys need to know lol

    Car Insurance Issue

    Posted: 05 May 2021 02:49 PM PDT

I was rear ended yesterday and my car was totaled. The accident was deemed not at fault on my end. It was 100% the person behind me. I have contacted theor company about getting a rental car for getting to work. But they only approved me for $25 a day for two weeks. Which isn't nearly enough as the cheapest rental I can find is $50z

Does anyone know what options I have? Should I just bum rides and use this money to pay my friend for gas? Is there a cheap rental place? Will they ask for proof of rental? I really can't afford a rental car when I didn't even wreck my car in the first place.

Edit; I am in NC, USA

    Questions regarding car insurance

    Posted: 05 May 2021 02:43 PM PDT

I'm 19 and have recently taken out a loan on a vehicle, (the title was sent to me first by mistake, instead of the credit union, so I sent it back to the credit union; it indicated that there was no lienholder) I have since been on my mom's insurance since it makes things cheaper for her with multi-vehicle discount, while I pay her (This was her idea, though recently I've seen something that might suggest this is insurance fraud?? is that right?) I sent the proof of insurance to my credit union and they had no complaints, however.

I'm just wondering if any of this is a mistake and if I'm doing things right? Been driving for 3 months in this vehicle.

    I live in Florida, btw.
