Net-Nets vs Deep Value vs Wonderful businesses Posted: 04 Mar 2021 02:44 AM PST TL:DR what produces higher returns for investors with a portfolio under $1 million net-nets, deep value stocks or wonderful businesses for the long run?. Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger both preach the approach of buying wonderful businesses at a price that makes sense relative to the discounted cash they will produce and I agree with that, but Buffett's best returns in his career were when he followed the approach of Benjamin Graham of buying stocks under net current asset value(NCAV) or net-net working capital(NNWC). It seems Buffett only changed his approach after realizing that it was not possible to make high returns on that method with big money. Also many other investors seem to employ a style in-between the two methods of buying businesses that are going through a rough time and in the words of Dr Michael Burry "seem like roadkill" and then sell them when they return to normal methods. Well my question is: what method do you think Buffett would use? What would you use? Which one will reduce the probability of principal loss the most? Which one will produce the highest returns repeating it for the long run? Would love your thoughts. [link] [comments] |
