Sales Director afraid of phone calls

    Posted: 08 Mar 2021 09:47 AM PST

    Hi there.

So, I run a business VoIP company and we have a sales team of two people. One is the "Director of sales and marketing" and the other is a "Sales Associate". The sales associate makes between 100-200 calls a week, the Director makes less than 10. Both of these employees make pretty close the the same amount of sales, but the director's sales are mostly due to referrals. The Director makes close to 100k/year while the associate makes 35k/year.

    Problems?

Am I expecting too much out of my director? We thought he was supposed to be a shit-hot sales guy, but we're just not hitting our numbers. He's not even coaching the sales associate much, QA-ing call recordings, or reviewing emails. When I ask about his call volume, he says that most people have told him to just email. Thing is, how would they have told him that if he never called them in the first place?

    How to stand out

    Posted: 08 Mar 2021 06:01 AM PST

Any advice on what I can do from a sales perspective in my day to day (ultimately leading up to long term) that can REALLY set me a part? It's a vague question but any information is helpful as this is my first B2B tech sales role.

    Thanks in an advance!

    Hype songs

    Posted: 08 Mar 2021 10:11 AM PST

A huge part of my job is prospecting leads and during my prospecting blocks I like having music on in the background. Since I prospect right after lunch I try and hype myself up for the rest of the day and have a huge afternoon. What are some of your songs that hype you up and put you in the mood to sell?

    SaaS Enterprise vs Midmarket sales

    Posted: 08 Mar 2021 04:58 AM PST

I am speaking with a recruiter regarding an Enterprise AE role at a startup. I have completed a year 3 months in a midmarket/commercial AE role, prior to this I have had 4 years experience with Enterprise clients in a separate industry (IT recruiting agency).

I am interested in finding out what are the major differences in midmarket vs enterprise sales, and what employers look for when considering if someone can handle enterprise sales (other than the obvious difference in company size). What attributes/skills distinguish Enterprise from midmarket?

Any insights would be much appreciated, thank you 🙏

SaaS sales reps, how many calls are you making a day?

    Posted: 08 Mar 2021 12:10 PM PST

So I recently moved from Commodity sales to SaaS sales. Going from selling contracts to selling an actual product I was so excited to get started!

Very quickly the excitement turned to dreading each and every day

The role is mostly paperwork/cleaning data, I come from a background of making hundreds of cold calls a day to barely making a dent in what I consider the minimum calls a rep needs to make (Honestly my stats are pathetic, I'd get sacked just on my call rate in previous jobs)

Most of my week is updating data on the system, I never really get into a roll with calling, the most calls I've made in one day is 50. My worst calling week I made 15 calls all week

Have I just picked the wrong industry? Do SaaS reps really not make as many phone calls and just hammer prospects through email and (Cringe) LinkedIn cold outreach? I expected SaaS to be a challenge, not mind numbly boring.

I'm so board staring into a screen all day not having conversations with people I'm on the brink of tears most days

Help a brother out , How many cold calls do you make a day? On average when prospecting for new business?

    “Sales pipeline” = funnel?

    Posted: 08 Mar 2021 11:23 AM PST

After reading the glossary and searching through old posts I'm having trouble understanding what a sales pipeline looks like / how to build it.

Is a pipeline in sales what we call "funnel" in marketing?

Applied discount and paid but asked to pay the original price

    Posted: 08 Mar 2021 10:40 AM PST

So basically I've bought an item online from emson Haig and I've applied the discount and it's gone through and I've paid the discounted price. I then received an email saying the discount is not valid for an item already discounted and they sent an invoice asking me to pay the extra amount. I was wondering do emson Haig have to respect the order made as it was an error from their website or do I have to pay the discount I got off.

Is sales the only way to make a lot of money with no college degree?I’m miserable doing this job...

    Posted: 07 Mar 2021 09:09 PM PST

Im currently doing sales for a debt consolidation company I've been here for a year and I hate it. I used to be a painter and really enjoyed my job and took pride in my work but I was only making $18/h. At this job factoring in commissioning base pay I'm making about $29/h. Even though I'm in the Top 5 of sales reps I just don't enjoy it, I like working with my hands. The problem is I want to make a lot of money and someone told me without a college degree, sales is my only hope. It's a great company with great people but I hate doing this line of work in an office all day.

I don't know what to do. Is this really my only hope of being successful? Should I just stick in it for the money? I have to be at work in 9 hours and I'm seriously thinking of quitting and taking my old painting job back.

    Learning sales when anxious

    Posted: 08 Mar 2021 09:29 AM PST

    Hello dear community,

I am a newly self employed Webdeveloper/Programmer (from Italy) and I am a bit anxious when it comes to coldcalling. In fact, I got no clue about sales at all. However, I gotta coldcall a lot if I want to make any sales. I have found a great salescoach on YouTube - will watching him do coldcalls and other salescalls for a few hours help me overcome my anxiousness? I gotta get myself out there too of course, but I would use his content as an initial motivation. What do you think?

Need some tips for Recruiting Industry

    Posted: 08 Mar 2021 02:00 AM PST

I just joined the recruitment industry and its been 1.5 months.

I have not closed any sales and its frustrating me.

I have been looking up job portals to find prospective clients (businesses) but there seems to be not much traction on the cold calls. I have 3 accounts pending for CVs and interviews with candidates from cold calls over the past month.

i'm not sure what questions to ask you guys

How do you get to HR?

How do you break into big companies?

Anyone has any tips and pointers on how I can snag the lowest hanging fruits first?

What are your day to day sales activities like?

New job tomorrow - drug test?

    Posted: 07 Mar 2021 08:36 PM PST

Start a new sales job tomorrow. Nowhere in the hiring process was drug testing mentioned. HR sent me the employee handbook tonight and drug testing was in there. This is a small startup with 50ish employees total. I was in Colorado last week and smoked some weed. Am I fucked? I'm freaking out right now.
