Can someone take over my $5K MRR consumer app? Posted: 03 Feb 2021 06:26 AM PST Any fullstack devs/founders out there searching for an idea to work on together? I have a consumer-facing iOS app that's currently doing ~$5K in monthly revenue with 10K MAU. Generated $30K+ in total revenue so far, all from AdMob. I can verify all this by giving access to the AdMob dashboard. It's a proven business model that can scale much bigger ($50K+/mo) but I have a bigger commitment now and can't do everything myself. So I'm looking for an ambitious technical founder who can handle fullstack mobile development and scale the product. I can give up to 40-50% revenue & equity and keep funding operations (marketing costs, etc). I can send a link to the app once we start talking. It's Lifestyle/Utility category. Required Skills
App Stats
If you're qualified & interested, please message me with some links to projects/apps you've built yourself (this is important). Only serious inquires please, thanks! EDIT: I'll be offline for a few hours but will respond to comments/DMs when I get back. P.S. Someone informed me that ad revenue is not the same thing as MRR. Seems like I can't edit the title but AdMob/AdSense sends ~$4-5K each month. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Feb 2021 06:46 AM PST The first call with a potential customer is one of the most important stages of the sales process, simply because it's a unique opportunity to make a great first impression. Taking a few minutes to prepare my calls is one of the most important factors when it came to closing. I've learned that inbound prospects coming to the website are usually evaluating several other tools so I strived to stand out every time they picked up the phone with me. This process was a result of several iterations over several hundred calls by myself and my sales team nowadays. I tried to distill best practices and want to provide insights into what I have seen work and not work. The main thing I know that works is preparation & training, seriously. In my best sales calls, I was always fully prepared with this cheat sheet. (PS: You can also check the rest of the article for a more detailed explanation of each step in the process) Make sure you bring it to at least your first 100 calls. The first step is: PreparationIt's crucial that you learn about the company and the prospect at the same time. For instance, when I'm learning about the company for my use case I try to understand:
Whereas when I'm learning about the prospect I usually visit their LinkedIn profile and try to get insights from it. It's valuable that you show your prospect that you have spent some time doing your research. Note: While checking the prospect's LinkedIn, perhaps you will find connections or interests in common or even similar background education. This can make you two easily connect during the call. The second step: the CallThis is the time to actively listen to your prospect's pain points, ask questions to get all the information you need about the prospect and the company. 1- Start by building rapport. After setting a nice tone, make it all about them. The time you spend talking on a sales call has a significant impact on your chance to close the deal. In fact, top sales performers are known for consistently letting their prospects talk about 60% of the time, so it's your prospect who should be talking the most. I often get surprised by the number of information prospects share when we ask open-ended questions. 2- Make sure your research is well informed. Try to get answers to your questions and have your prospects verbalized their pain points before you start pitching. 3- Give your pitch. Once both of you have acknowledged your prospect's pain, you will now be better informed to give your prospect an adapted pitch about how your product solves their issue. 💡 Insightful Note: If you're not able to find any good arguments that could make your product useful to the company, maybe it's because it doesn't qualify as a potential user. You should acknowledge this and since it's very unlikely that you would be getting a deal from here, avoid wasting your time trying to sell and focus rather on creating a connection they might be a buyer in their next company. The third step: Next stepsKeep your lead moving further along the sales funnel by making sure you have well defined next steps. For example, if you want a follow-up meeting to do a demo, make it so that you book it at the end of the call. Or if you want to involve other decision-makers, make sure you know who they are at the end of the call. When you see you only have 5 more minutes in your calendar, you should schedule the next meeting step before you finish the call and your prospect has to leave unexpectedly. It's also important that you know if there are other people to be involved in the deal and your prospects know exactly what to do next. Note: If you fail to schedule the next steps, you may end up losing a client because the prospect couldn't find it easy to schedule the next call with you, or your proposal lost relevance after they had a call with another competitor that already gave them a trial version they are enjoying. Wrapping Up…The main thing I know that works is preparation & training. Keep pushing it! ------- I have helped 200+ clients optimizing their outbound sales strategy over the years to grow their business. I'm constantly testing new hypotheses to see what works and regularly share the insights with thousands of other entrepreneurs trying to scale up revenue here. Feel free to reach out if you need help with your cold outbound efforts, happy to help! [link] [comments] |
5 marketing ideas you can build with zapier Posted: 03 Feb 2021 11:41 AM PST I put together a list of 5 "simple" things I've built for entrepreneurs and thought the sub might like them, or get some inspiration from them. Send a postcard/handwritten card after a prospect has received a proposal The postal service is becoming a relic of the past. Mail volumes are down 25% over the past 5 years, and yet it's still possible to use this archaic system as a marketing tactic. One thing I've found for businesses is an automation that sends a prospect a postcard through services like lob, or handwritten cards with Rocket Referrals. Add your prospect to a Facebook custom audience With the changes to iOS, it's going to be a lot more difficult for businesses and marketers to reach people via remarketing. Facebook custom audiences are an excellent way of reaching past customers without being spammy and annoying. What I recommend is setting up a Facebook Custom Audience on Zapier that will sync with your email list or other data sources you have in order to update and follow up with past customers who may not be seeing your new marketing efforts. Send a ringless voicemail after the end of a webinar If you're looking to stand out and continue the conversation after a webinar, send a ringless voicemail with Slybroadcast. A pre-recorded message will make people happy and they'll remember it more than they would have otherwise. Send your customer a company-branded mug after a Google review When someone leaves you a Google review, they've done something really nice for you. To keep that reciprocity loop going use an on-demand product fulfillment service (I really like Printful) to send them a coffee mug! Send a prospect your favorite podcast playlist after your meeting I love this marketing idea, it's something I've been playing around with for a while. For marketing, I have several favorite podcast episodes and curated my own playlist on Spotify. If I get done with a meeting and someone asks me what they should be listening to right now, I send them this playlist with an email, since it's tailored specifically for their interests. Have a cool zapier idea, but don't know how to build it, drop it in the comments and I'll build it and send you the template! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Feb 2021 08:13 PM PST No, this is not a humble brag. Yes, this is my life. Yes, this question is what I have been struggling with for two years. And I have hit such a dead end, that as I lay in bed, next to my wife, I am asking strangers on the internet for advice....now this just sounds dumb. (I should prove delete that line, but I won't.) I see the businesses being created, and I know I could do it. I know I could create something great. I love the idea of not working 35 hrs a week, doing what other people want. I like the idea of being my own boss. It sounds...like freedom. So much out there I see about entrepreneurship is around three talking points.
I already have two of those...Is being your own biss all it's cracked up to be? Am I just suffering from the grass is always greener on the other side? When it comes to my career...I don't want to let good get in the way of great. But I also would be foolish to not see what I already have, and consider this move carefully. Thank you for listening. And your feedback. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Feb 2021 01:45 PM PST I recently joined a semi-public Slack networking channel that somebody posted on Linkedin. I did an introductory post about the training and consulting services I offer and responded to a couple of posts where I thought I had some insight to share. I maybe spent 15 minutes total browsing and giving my quick responses. The next thing I know, I've got three DMs with follow-up questions from people that have been looking for exactly what I offer, two of which appear to be rather solid leads. My question is this... Has anybody else found success getting into Slack groups like this and offering value? How did you find the channels that worked best for you? Depending on how these two leads go, I might be curious to find more potential Slack channels to join that could serve as good networking and lead gen hubs. Does anybody have thoughts? What might be a good way to find other worthwhile Slack channels? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Why is it that most company names have no relevance to anything? Posted: 03 Feb 2021 01:02 PM PST I'm losing sleep trying to find the perfect name, and through my research, I keep hearing how important it is to have a good name, and that a good name should be relevant. Well, when I look around at all these major companies or even small ones for that matter, and especially top movers and competitors in my industry, I find that the name is not relevant at all. Or sometimes it is but no one would know without reading the back story. I'll give some examples: Nike- wtf is a nike and what does it have to do with sports? Target stores, Walmart, Ford (personal name), Amazon, Big Y, Arm and Hammer, Pepsi, the list goes on. [link] [comments] |
A question to any real estate agents Posted: 03 Feb 2021 02:09 PM PST I've been working on a business that provides virtual tours for real estate agents with listings on Zillow. I understand that these agents are constantly bombarded with bullshit all the time, so how do I stand out? I've considered doing the first house for free, that way they can get a feel for the work beforehand. Any thoughts? [link] [comments] |
Can someone clearify this phil knight quote? Posted: 03 Feb 2021 01:07 PM PST The following quote is from knight's auto biography: Shoe dog "And for those who urge entrepreneurs to never give up? Charlatans. Sometimes you have to give up. Sometimes knowing when to give up, when to try something else, is genius. Giving up doesn't mean stopping. Don't ever stop." I don't quite understand the distinction between giving up and stopping. I tought that those two words have essentially the same meaning in this context. Maby it's because I'm not an native english speaker. Could someone explains what he means here? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Feb 2021 12:49 PM PST Hello, So I was just going to move one delete one each day until the task is complete but somebody has pointed out if there posts that are indexed and ranking then I will want to have a redirection set up. Does anyone have any experience with this kind of thing. [link] [comments] |

What’s a fair percentage of equity to give to someone who only manages the social media page? Posted: 03 Feb 2021 11:13 AM PST I can't afford to pay them right now which is why I'm giving a percent of profit. All they do is post to social media and I handle every other aspect of the business. EDIT: Title should say profit, not equity. They will get no equity, only a share of profit for the sales that are driven buy the social media account. [link] [comments] |
Draft to US Army Reserves then start my business or start my business now Posted: 03 Feb 2021 11:00 AM PST So I just moved internationally to start my own firearms training company. The other day I was feeling down about not being a part of the military (I was in the military overseas) so I went to the recruiter and we started the process for me to draft into the US Army Reserves, however now that I think about it I am worried that all my new connections won't be available to me after I finish training (6 months) its probably a stupid thought as they are great people. I feel like its either draft and not miss the military and wait even more time to start my business or just say "fuck it" and start my business now. Maybe this is the wrong subreddit to ask, but I figured since we are all entrepreneurs you may have some insightful comments. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Feb 2021 10:37 AM PST So I am wanting to take my lead gen business to the next level and think I'm ready to commit to a daily dose of YouTube or podcast to help gain skills and hone in the entrepreneurial mindset. I've narrowed it down to Lok and Cardone. Lok bc I do a lot of copywriting on the side and he offers some excellent techniques that are relevant. Cardone bc he's broad brush and covers a lot of topics that I think I would find helpful. Stuck on which one is better-or maybe they both aren't worth their salt? Any recommendations or comments on podcasts or playlists geared to entrepreneurial growth better than either of these guys? Thanks for your time. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 03 Feb 2021 12:27 AM PST After doing my research for the past week this is what stood out to me. As we all know yesterday Bezos announced that he is stepping down as the CEO of Amazon. Bezos will become executive chairman of the e-commerce giant during the second half of 2021 and will be succeeded by Andy Jassy, currently CEO of cloud platform Amazon Web Services (AWS). In a letter to staff, Bezos explained that being CEO of Amazon is a "deep responsibility, and it's consuming", adding that "when you have a responsibility like that, it's hard to put attention on anything else". Bezos also plans to put more energy into his charitable work via the Day 1 fund, a 2 billion commitment to fund not-for-profits helping families experiencing homelessness and create a network of not-for-profit preschools in low-income communities. Enough about Bezos. The new social media app "ClubHouse" is taking over. "ClubHouse" is an-audio based social media app. The company describes itself as a new type of social product based on voice that allows people to talk, tell stories, develop ideas, deepen friendships and meet interesting new people around the world. Basically, you can jump in on different chats, on different subjects, in something akin to life. Elon Musk jumped in on this app, alongside the CEO of RobinHood, where they talked about why RobinHood is preventing people from trading. And last but not least, Super Bowl is coming in 5 days. 100 million people are going to watch this event, even if you're business is not connected to sports, this is a huge event and you should use it in your marketing strategy. Last year Amazon had a great campaign "Amazon Alexa's Super Bowl 2020 Commercial #BeforeAlexa" The ad features Ellen DeGeneres and her spouse Portia De Rossi. They are ready to leave the house when Ellen asks Alexa to turn down the tremendous, which leads her to wonder how people lived before Alexa. We then see a make-belief pre-Alexa world of maids, court jesters, friends, and secretaries. The ad has a funny take on how people followed and executed voice commands, while also taking a dig at fake news and President Nixon's impeachment history. What's your marketing strategy coming in 2021? [link] [comments] |
I Have an Idea of Blockchain Social Network That Will Help People To Follow Their Dream. Posted: 03 Feb 2021 08:43 AM PST Hi. I'm the CEO of a small social media agency and I have an idea that doesn't want to leave my head since August 2020. The idea of a new blockchain social network that will change the world. Imagine a blockchain social network that is built on trust. Every user has his/her own trust level. Next time we read something online we can go to the person's profile who wrote it and see how many people actually believe what this person tells. (for the past year we understand how easy is to manipulate humans) What is the main content of the network? People will be posting their lifetime projects in the type of photos, videos, blog posts. We have a lot of people in the world who love their field of work and they want to share their experience and leave a legacy for future generations. Internet will stay with us forever, so we can use this to change our education system. No boring classes and theory lessons. We will have an actual database of people every day living and following his dream in every field of any job on our planet. Children will have a better chance to understand what exactly they want to do with their life. How it will be monetized? No ads. Never ads. Cryptocurrency. So the people who are posting their day-to-day life will have a button on their posts (For example "Legacy" I didn't think about the name yet). And the users can click this button (once in 24 hours) if they believe that this content should be saved in the legacy of humans. This exact post will be saved with other posts to form 1 block of data (maximum 1GB of data for example) this is how the block will be mined. and the block will be divided between "The Creator" who created the post and the "The Keeper" who keeps at home data in HDDs rig (GPU rig for example). So the actual user will get the funding from the network to keep working on his dream (so many fields on our planet are very underfunded). This is just a small part of the network. It will take some time to write about it (I even made a video about it but I'm too chicken to upload it to the public). I think I'm able to build something like this. I have experience in managing a small IT startup. The only thing I don't have is funds :) So I have 2 questions:

Building Business Credit via Personal Gas on Business Card Posted: 03 Feb 2021 08:32 AM PST I am in the early stages of planning for the startup of my Single Member LLC. After the basis of business name, checking account, and business credit cards; I plan to build my business credit score and payment/activity history via buying personal fuel. I would be funding my business account with personal contributions in the time prior to profitable business returns. My pertaining questions are as follows: 1) As long as I don't file tax exemption for these personal purchases, I won't hold any personal risk in tax filing, correct? 2) I understand this (in most cases) would be a violation of the business cards EULA. However, the odds of being discovered should be minimum. Even if issue arose, I would think it is no more than a notification, correct? 3) Are there any concerns I have not covered that would open my business/self up to unneeded risk or pierce my corporate veil? Which is the best website builder? Posted: 02 Feb 2021 09:36 PM PST I want to build a blogging website to display my astrophotography and 3D design projects, for which I need my own website, but there are so many website builders on the internet, like wix, squarespace, etc. and I don't know which one to use. Branding a Consultant? - Cost? Posted: 03 Feb 2021 05:57 AM PST How much would a full service branding consultant charge? Posted: 03 Feb 2021 05:19 AM PST Hey guys! Super excited to be here! So, I've got some ideas that I want to execute, and I'm looking for some feedback or other ideas. I'm a student get a ton of software for free like a pro Canva subscription for a year, a year of four free website hosting with WordPress + premium themes etc. I don't want to be with the countless other students that don't use this great opportunity to explore and try shit out and mess it all up hha. Basically, what I want is to start three startups:
Some business ideas I have are the following: Drop-shipping
Would you stay there is still room? To compete with all the giants like Amazon etc. I know if I'd like to make this one succeed it would require a lot of marketing work. If you have any experience starting drop-shipping websites I'd love to hear your experience. Finance website
Tech website
Homeschooling forumThis would be something focused on my country of residence I guess, as homeschooling will keep growing in popularity. There are already many large communities of Facebook, though. News site
Mexican siteAs I'm Mexican this would be something I can be passionate about. But don't know what topic, maybe you have an idea? Let me know in the comments! Any other ideas, please let me know :)Thanks for reading this and any feedback is much appreciated! Also, I'm vegan and already running a startup: https://bgan.be. The idea was to start a catering business because I like to cook, but I realize that I prefer to make it an online business with YouTube and Instagram, webshop... just a side note. UPDATE: A lot of you are saying that I should just start with one, cool. Give me your opinion on which would be the best! [link] [comments] |
