    Any Mba graduates

    Posted: 28 Feb 2021 01:37 AM PST

Can anyone recommend books to learn mba (finance).I donot want the degree just the knowledge.I have got a lot of free time for some days.

The books should have the complete knowledge a mba student is taught and not like a self help book . It would be helpful if the order is from basic to advanced.

    Thanks.....

How do I approach a company that’s privately held to invest in them? (Private equity investing)

    Posted: 27 Feb 2021 07:34 PM PST

Has anyone had any experience investing in private equity. The most investing I have done has been in the stock market or in properties. I'm looking to invest some money in a hospitality group that's owns multiple nightclubs/restaurants but wondering how I would go about doing that. They are quite a large company and I would estimate there revenue per year to be around 40-50 million dollars before the pandemic struck. I'm thinking it would be a great investment but risky as well not knowing if revenue will return to normal however a great buying opportunity since there valuation should be crushed.

New business, question on truck and LLC.

    Posted: 27 Feb 2021 05:06 PM PST

Hello, I am running a lawn care business and have a question if anyone could help me.

I have not yet made an LLC but am purchasing a newer truck for the business. Is this going to be an issue on deductions if it is purchased before the LLC is created? The truck will have to be in my name regardless due to no business credit. I have already purchased a few pieces of equipment so hopefully they are all still deductible.

    Thank you!

    TEXAS sales tax- Online business

    Posted: 27 Feb 2021 06:24 PM PST

    Hey y'all!

I am working on my business as of right now. I am having issues regarding sales tax. I want to know if I have to charge sales tax since I am operating out of my apartment. I am going to be selling jewelry online and then shipping it out to customers (possibly out of state). I know you must charge sales tax if you have a nexus which I am not sure if my business will be considered under that. I live in Texas and I am pretty sure I am supposed to charge taxes but not sure how to go about it. I live in Houston to be more specific if that is necessary. I know in Texas you must charge tax if shipping to in-state but out-of-state is charged based on the state it is being shipped to. If i do get an out-of-state order, do i have to get a sales tax for that state or how do I report those taxes to that state? I am just so confused. Please help me out and let me know how to go about sales tax and other important sales tax-related things i should know about.

Legality question concerning web stores that buy product from cheaper web stores to sell for a small mark-up.

    Posted: 27 Feb 2021 03:53 PM PST

In a bid to improve my web development skills (and make a little money to help me through college) I have been toying around with this idea for a web store that takes the orders it receives and routes it to another web store to be fulfilled while pocketing the marginal price difference.

I'm concerned about the whole legality of it, however, and I do not know much about business law. Before I waste money consulting a lawyer or someone who would know better than me, I figured I would ask reddit and get a feel first. With that being said, thoughts?

How Do You Deal With Scope Creep?

    Posted: 27 Feb 2021 02:22 PM PST

As a freelance web developer scope creep and miscommunication about it is a HUGE hassle.

I want to make a web-app to help entrepreneurs track and share project scope with clients.

If you could wave a magic wand and fix one thing about scope creep + communication of a project with clients, what would you fix?

    Best cheap business laptop?

    Posted: 27 Feb 2021 11:58 AM PST

I'm about to go to Bestbuy and impulse buy a cheap laptop before I have to start back traveling for work.

The internet, spreadsheets and it being relatively small is all I really need. Any suggestions?

Looking for help putting together a presentation/package

    Posted: 27 Feb 2021 02:09 PM PST

    Hi!

So I'm trying to help out an auto body shop that I believe can bring a lot to the community and to retailers. I want to put together a package or something to present to businesses the shop usually buys from - or even shops that want to expand to our area. I have experience in marketing, design, etc. but not in seeking endorsements. I will put as much info as I can here in the hopes of getting some advice so I don't screw things up - because I'm scatter brained and I will! Ha.

Some important/interesting things to note, details about current state of the shop are:

    • The owner has a license to sell vehicles and products.
    • Brings in as much as $375,000 in sales annually
    • Has 5 employees on average
    • Is the only custom and classic car restoration around
    • Has property, garage, etc.
    • Has about $10,000 of debt (due to owner's wife having cancer which she succumbed to - so he spent all he had and tried to sell the shop. It didn't sell.)
    • The owner is passionate about restoring and selling vintage cars. On that note:
    • Has sold as many as 7 restored vehicles per year (only sold during warm months because of no space to keep multiple cars inside). No longer sells vehicles due to debt. Only works on client vehicles now.
    • The shop gets a steady flow of customer foot traffic if there are cars outside for sale.
    • There is space to sell merchandise
    • The shop needs a visual and organizational overhaul. The owner and his wife spent nearly 5 months away during the worst of her illness, and his depression caused him to neglect everything.
    • The shop needs certified employees at $30/hr or so that are passionate about what they do, rather than only knowing local people needing a job.
    • The owner wants to retire. He will be 64 years old this month.
    • The owner is a known individual in the community.
    • The owner donates to charity. He even bought, fixed up, and donated a snow plow vehicle to his adopted daughter's school. He gives to all local events and businesses when he can.
    • For me - I am a competent designer, videographer, photographer and customer services representative.
    • I am finishing a website for the business.
    • I want to give people the opportunity to sell us their vehicle through the website.
    • I want to get the shop to be noticed more with recognizable signage, branding, etc.
    • The owner is working too hard and just wants to be rid of the place, but would love to see everything running again and sell cars. But his age and depression since losing his wife about 3 years ago has turned him into a different person. He is my father-in-law.

That's about it. I don't know how to approach businesses, nor does he, but have received endorsements in the past that I didn't ask for - they came to me. I have ideas of who I want to approach, but I only know how to just send an email to customer support. That's about it. Ha. I want to put together a package to have someone possibly fund the restoration of a couple vehicles then get their investments back and then some (cut of sales) or to sell merchandise/advertisements, etc.

I would LOVE to hear some thoughts. Thanks in advance!

    I was thinking...

    Posted: 27 Feb 2021 01:54 PM PST

I was thinking, if I'm currently 14 and can get a job at 16 owning and running a food truck I'd be making 75-110k CAD a year. Worst case living with my parents I would have 300k to reinvest in a business of my choosing when I would be 20. Any ideas on what I could run/buy? Taking 20% down on a 1.5m$ loan would be in the relm of possibility from my knowledge.

I want to buy a business in the UK

    Posted: 27 Feb 2021 08:04 AM PST

Hi, a few months ago I was made redundant due to the current economic situation, I have a decent amount of personal savings and would be willing invest about £25k of my own money.

My question is that with no income or previous experience and only my savings and the willingness to invest all of my time would I be able to get the investment needed from a bank or other investor to be able to buy a business if it has a reasonable track record with the idea of paying it back purely from the profits?

At the moment it's just an alternative idea to finding a job where their isn't many. I've seen a few businesses that could be worth buying but I'm unsure if it's even possible for someone in my situation.

Any advice is appreciated so thanks in advance!

What Are Some Great Skills To Grow Your Online Business?

    Posted: 27 Feb 2021 02:38 AM PST

I run a small online boutique that sells things like skin care products, makeup, and even some haircare products as well. For a while my store saw no purchases at all, and I actually almost closed down. Instead I ended up doubling down and starting focusing on my brand. I bought myself a ton of online courses about digital marketing, and studied day and night. Fast forward a few months and I've started to really turn things around, so much so that I left my 9-5. A lot of this success comes from social media and Google ads. But this success has opened up a hunger for knowledge in me, and I want to know what are some of the best skills an online business owner like me can learn?
