Donated 50 trees from earnings Posted: 23 Oct 2020 02:06 AM PDT I've reached the milestone of donating 50 trees from my Gumroad earnings of my E-book. Each tree was gifted to a buyer, so they received a nice E-card with a thank you note :) For visualisation, here are 50 trees: I'm not an environmental activist but you just can't stay indifferent and ignore the state of our planet, here is a video about the destruction of the Amazon Rainforest: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SAZAKPUQMw0 There is obviously more to it than just "fixing up" the Amazon Rainforest, but this is a start. We need to be more vigilant and take care of our planet better. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Oct 2020 03:56 AM PDT Hi, for the entrepreneurs out there (especially the solopreneurs), how did you find a mentor for your business? For example, when you need to bounce ideas or get an input on a direction you're taking? I tried few avenues but haven't been successful... [link] [comments] |

Best way to find unused parking lots/garages for storage? Posted: 23 Oct 2020 01:42 PM PDT Hi there! With COVID shifting a lot of employers remote, I'm looking to rent parking space from large commercial properties. Problem is, I'm not sure of the best way to find which parking lots are not being used other than driving around my city and finding them. Advice? [link] [comments] |

Two separate businesses, one store front, one cash register. Is it possible? Posted: 23 Oct 2020 12:48 PM PDT Me and my friend are opening a store front together under one name but with two separate businesses. My friend is an LLC and my business is a sole proprietorship. The store front is going to be my DBA. I already have a store location but it's temporary so it works out that we will move in together. My products are bath, body and beauty and her products are all wellness and health so we want to mesh and make one store. I'm not too sure how to ask the question I have but it falls along the lines of how will we check people out? We only want to have one check our station. I already have square as my POS system & have all my inventory on there. I am thinking I could possibly have a category named after her business with all her items on there. It's going to be complicated to split the numbers and give her her share. I'm wondering if there is any better POS system that makes this possible or if there is anyway to do this? Has anyone ever jumped into this kind of partnership? [link] [comments] |
How much would you charge to manage a tattoo shop? Posted: 23 Oct 2020 12:39 PM PDT Okay, I'll try to keep this as short as possible while giving details. I used to be a body piercer/tattooer. My husband is currently a body piercer. As such, we obviously have friends in the industry. A few years ago I took another job basically for the health benefits. My buddy co-owns a tattoo shop. His partner is wanting to move on and he is going to take over the shop. But he told me he's honestly not the best at running the "business" aspects of the business. Such as paying the bills on time (rent on the building, power, water, internet), keeping licenses up to date, supplying the shop with the various things needed, juggling schedules, emails from clients, managing social media, etc. I have experience doing all these things, from a tattoo industry point of view as well as in my own businesses. I'm good at it. We were in agreement that I would be pretty much exactly what he needed. I have never officially charged for such things. I'd expect it to take maybe 10ish hours out of my time per week, maybe a little more or less depending on circumstances. What would you charge for this? [link] [comments] |
Looking for site advice + general feedback? Posted: 23 Oct 2020 12:38 PM PDT Created a consulting club on the side with a friend at graduate school ( we work with mutual friends in industry). It kind of gained traction and students want to join in the future. I made a site to look more legit (its all free fonts/designs/etc.). Let me know what I can do to make it look better or any tips at all! Especially with sourcing leads. I've struggled to find leads--I'm currently messaging incubators with no luck :(. thank you! Posted: 23 Oct 2020 11:52 AM PDT Just did it and thought I'd write down what I learned. You can either do this by mail ($300) or online (same + 2.7% credit card fee). I opted for online.
That's all. As someone who's not in legal, let me know if I'm missing anything. I think I have to register the entity with the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts later on, and potentially get an EIN if I have more than one member? (at least according to legalzoom (1, 2) [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Oct 2020 10:38 AM PDT I ask because so far each country which I checked was either requiriong initial investments to be really high, or that the new business by foreigner should emloy 1-2-3-100 locals, or something like this. I mentioned being from a third world to emphasize that there is nothing like EU for me, or some countries with a relaxed visa/business regime. [link] [comments] |

Where do you find LinkedIn influencers? Posted: 23 Oct 2020 10:12 AM PDT Hello Everyone, I've found several places to find influencers on Instagram, Twitter, and Youtube (Uplfluence, Influence,AspireIQ, Socialbakers etc.) However, I can't seem to find anything for LinkedIn. Do you know of any source which lists Profile - No of Followers - What do they post most about on LinkedIn ? Thank you! If there isn't one, this would be a good idea for someone to build. There are multiple influencer directories for other social apps but none for LinkedIn :) [link] [comments] |
Looking for Wholesale Supplies for Computer Parts Posted: 23 Oct 2020 10:01 AM PDT I'm in the beginning stages of starting a side business building niche computer systems. But I'm not sure where to start with getting wholesale parts. The Google searches are a little overwhelming, and I'm not sure what price points are standard. Is Alibaba/Aliexpress my best option, or is there other options that I should know about. Really appreciate any help or suggestions. [link] [comments] |

Is there actually such a thing as over saturation of the market? Posted: 23 Oct 2020 09:29 AM PDT So I started to learn to code because it seemed genuinely fun and also I wanted to maybe start a side business off of it.A social media managing thing but my niche would be designing websites for my customers (who would be small business owners in the area).Id be running the website and trying to increase engagement across all platforms. That was until I heard a lot of people on programming subreddits say that stuff like this doesn't make a lot of money etc, over saturated or isn't worth the time. Then I talked to my friend about it and he told me over saturation is a "myth".Which is some obvious Gary v bullshit but it got me thinking maybe he's right in a way ? Can mindset/vision and hard work really offset market saturation or is that my hubris talking?Maybe i should look in another direction? The whole reason I got the idea from this older man came into my work he runs 3 social media pages post once a day and makes all together 1,000 a month( he didn't even post himself he has shit on a timer) and he told me he thinks I'd be good at it due to me being very personable and etc.I thought maybe if i offer more stuff like web dev, social media management and maybe even content creation that i could really stand out.Seems like I'm learning html,CSS and JavaScript for not reason because people just use word press very quickly and easily. So making these complex sites for small business would probably go unappreciated and unesscary.Realistically as of now I don't really want to do it full time (as of now)Id just like to do have It on the side and make like 300-1000 a month, what do you guys think ? Digital media marketplace script or Wordpress plugin suggestions Posted: 23 Oct 2020 08:43 AM PDT I have an idea for a digital media (PDFs and other downloadable files) marketplace in a specific niche to which I would like to allow other creators to upload their files. Creators would be paid commissions for their products. I'd like to to use off the shelf product to build and test this before investing more money and time. While I am not a developer I am pretty well versed with Wordpress and am maintaining multiple websites already so that would be a preferred platform. I looked around and https://easydigitaldownloads.com/ stands out on Wordpress side but would like to know if there are any alternatives out there in the same price point. Thank you in advance. Could anyone answer some questions about “being an Entrepreneur” for a high school project? Posted: 23 Oct 2020 08:25 AM PDT Someone responded. Thank y'all for your support. Hi all, Basically I have a high school project where I gotta 'interview' (just answer some questions) somebody about the life of being an Entrepreneur. I had somebody lined up but they're busy all day and I'm under a time crunch. If anyone could just dm me, I'll list the questions at the end of this, it's quick.

Posted: 23 Oct 2020 07:49 AM PDT I spent the last 10+yrs to code, and the last 4yrs in the startup ecosystem. During all that time I was focus on the product more than anything else. I need a change. I want to learn the other parts of building a product and I want something challenging! So I decided to (try to) launch 6 products in the next 6 months! I want to remove my developer biasAs a coder, you always want to build stuff. To start coding. And that's a bad habit: as soon as you start coding something you lose your focus. You want to improve that MVP, implement a new feature, fix a bug, etc… As an early-stage maker you need to focus on 2 things:
The way you provide that value is secondary. With a super strict timeframe, I will have to make some extreme choices. I'll try to code as little as possible and spend less than 50% of my time on the product. Most of the time will be allocated to the distribution and customer feedback. I want to test all these ideasWe all have ideas of business, but we all know that they worth nothing. All the value is in the execution. I want to test them, fast. To know quickly if they can make a sustainable business. Ideas have an expiration date. The faster you ship, the faster you have feedback. And it's ok to fail when you spend only a few weeks on a project. That's way easier than fail 2 years' projects! I want to learn fastAll the steps of building, launching, selling, growing are super hard. Most of us are specialized in one or two steps. I want to test them all. If I complete the challenge I'll ship more products in 6 months than most of the entrepreneurs. I'm sure I'll learn a lot! The idea is to build fast, launch fast, and learn as much as possible! We also all know that a huge percentage of the project just fails. I want to understand how to recognize a good business and what makes it works! I want to meet new peopleAll the projects will be built in public. I lost the habit of sharing everything, I really want to do it again. To build a community but also to learn from others. It's incredible how many people I met since I'm a solo founder, I want to increase that leverage! Onward!I already have a few ideas on what product I'll build. The first one is almost done and should be out in the next few days. If you want to follow my challenge I'll share everything on Twitter → https://twitter.com/angezanetti [link] [comments] |
Is college worth it now that it’s online? Posted: 23 Oct 2020 07:40 AM PDT Like many young aspiring entrepreneurs, I've asked myself throughout high school if college was the right choice. The only reason that I said college is worth it is because people said the connections you make there. Okay fair point. Well now it's all online and I have met zero people. I have been able to network online a lot though. I met some people that would be very helpful if I wanted to start a start up today. I'm self teaching all my programming skills because all but one of my classes are general education. The degree will be nearly mandatory if I decide to get a job as a software engineer, but I really don't want a job. Like the moment I get the job that's where I feel like I settle and having a 9-5 does not appeal to me. If I can't live off any of the tech businesses I make after 5 or so years I think I'm just going to join the military because that a job I want to do and have not done it yet because of the success I think I could miss out on if I don't give having start up a try. I hate quitting though but I also hate wasting time. Should I leave college? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Oct 2020 07:25 AM PDT Hello - I'm having issues with my mobile app specifically getting people to register. Does anybody know of a service (free or paid) where I can get individuals to download my app and review the UX/UI and provide suggestions? They won't be our ideal customers, but we just need feedback at this point. Noticing a trend in my app store analytics that is showing a high install rate but that's not leading to users. One of my assumptions is the UX could be improved. [link] [comments] |
Actually, are there technical guys looking for marketing/sales oriented people? Posted: 23 Oct 2020 06:57 AM PDT I recently made a post on this exquisite sub looking for entrepreneurs who want technical help. But then, I realized what I want is the other way round. I want technical guys what want someone who loves sales and marketing! I'm going through major changes and I think that's the best direction for me. Please help me with some directions on how to start the search! PLEASE NOTE: I am not looking for a job. I want to promote products and services offered by tech oriented people. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Oct 2020 06:41 AM PDT So I've formed an LLC which I'll be using to develop a MVP of a concept to move forward with. HOWEVER, the MVP will run approx around $20k which isn't impossible, however, I'm looking to move faster than I've been currently (aren't we all?!) Are there any recommendations that one could provide in order to maybe fast track the funds in order to support this? FWIW: I'm a veteran, renewable energy business. [link] [comments] |
I’d love some great advice in marketing my online business. Posted: 23 Oct 2020 06:20 AM PDT Hey guys, I've posted here before about this same business when it was still in its design stages. My business is an online freelancer marketplace focused on Caribbean freelancer (but not limited to). The site is about pretty much done i'd say give it less than a week and my nerves are everywhere. Mainly because i'm the only one doing everything except web development. This is my first major business project that i'm starting and i've really invested in so you should understand my emotions right now. So, to make an already long story short, ive taken sort of the lean start up approach to things and I've created a landing page for the site to collect emails and a few marketing paraphernalia. Through word of mouth alone we gained 225 email sign ups from interested freelancers and its steadily growing as we speak. Due to the current pandemic getting freelancers has been the easiest part. What i need your help with, Super Heroes of Reddit, is your opinions and suggestions on whats the best approach to getting Employers/Clients to sign up? Both regional and international. Side Note - The Caribbean region is filled with millions of extremely skilled and educated people many of whom are freelancers who need the outreach or a platform that gets them out there. With everything going on people are eager to make money in every way they can. This isnt about money for me but a way to change the way we do business in the caribbean and me being a one man army, its been difficult but oddly enough i love the challenges i come across and trying to solve them. Thanks in advance guys, looking forward to your input. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Oct 2020 06:06 AM PDT Hi Guys! Towards the end of 2018, I posted in a Facebook group a little bored and lost, looking for a new direction for with my career. After a 3 years of focused determination, technology, and automation, I had successfully freed my time from my 15 employee landscaping company, and was looking for the next "thing" to pursue where I could do something I love. I knew my strengths were technology, marketing, and system-building, but I didn't know where to go from there. From that Facebook post, a few people reached out to me looking for help with service software called Service Autopilot, which is an advanced CRM/marketing platform for service based businesses that I use to run my landscaping company. I was excited for this new project! One thing lead to another and I became a Certified Advisor with Service Autopilot on December 18th 2018 which opened the doors to my next venture, Ready Business Systems. Since that September, Ready Business Systems has been my priority, building a website, marketing, preparing content for the marketplace, as well as building a team. I forgot how much work it is to start a business! I am proud to have built a team to help push Ready Business Systems forward, as well as generated 200 leads and $25,000 in sales in 2019, projected for $40,000 in 2020. Given my 20 years experience in running a business, I had a pretty focused plan on what I needed to do to start my new business. This is what I did: 1) The first thing I did was create a website. I know the website would be my funnel to market and capture leads. I spent time picking a domain, which is what I also used to come up with a company name. 2) Next, I had to have a logo made. I went on Fiverr and got my logo made for about $200. 3) I hired an SEO company. I knew I needed to start building traffic to my website, as this would be a long process to start seeing results so I started it early for $199/month for their basic package. 4) I set up a CRM to run the business from. I used Service Autopilot to set up as the CRM for this as well, as I was very familiar with it. I built all the automations from within this software which would automate the processing of the leads as they came into the system. Depending on which service they were interested in on the contact form, it would then perform a series of processes. If they didn't buy anything, it would send them down a marketing funnel of different advertisements I had put together in the form of emails, text messages, letters, and automated voicemails. 5) At the same time I marketed the website, I put up an ad on Indeed for help. Although I didn't need help at the time, I wanted to be proactive and generate leads so when I did need help, I already had people in my back pocket. This ad led to finding my first business partner, Rob, who now does most of the production while I focus on continued marketing efforts. 6) I created ads on Facebook for social re-marketing. As I drove traffic to my website, visitors would get cookies on their devices which would them display ads to them on Facebook and Instagram. My most successful campaign costs me about $5 per lead and it gives away a free pricing worksheet, which is simply an excel spreadsheet which helps company owners price their services. In exchange for name, email, and phone number, we let people download this spreadsheet for free. From here, they are now in our marketing funnel in hopes that they will purchase in the future. 7) I also created a YouTube channel and blog on the website, where I discuss various business topics and concepts, as well as make how to videos on how to use Service Autopilot. This also helps with the website SEO. 8) Lastly, I signed up for affiliate programs for different services I use, such as payroll and marketing platforms so I can also generate passive income through the traffic to my site and my YouTube videos. This has been successful so far and I have been awarded over $2000 in Amazon gift cards through the payroll service I affiliate with. Service Autopilot itself offers me a recurring 10% commission for any sign ups I get. Currently this is making $100/month passively through this program. I have a ton more ideas in the works to generate more revenue and leads, but it has been a balance of producing enough work to have enough revenue to implement these marketing tactics. My employee Rob and I are on a revenue split, and the portion of the commission I keep I put straight towards marketing. Through my indeed ad, I also met up with a well qualified local woman who is interested in making sales calls through our leads list to generate more work for a commission. She is a realtor so is used to working on commission. At the moment we are focused on creating webinars for training on the platform. Our first training webinar was a success with 10 attendees at $149/each. Our next venture is another training series, dropping the price to $49 and making the webinars shorter to see if this increases our sign ups. I also hired a remote assistant through Upwork from the Philippians for $5/hour to help with some of the mundane tasks I perform, such as sending friend requests to Service Autopilot members as they join and inviting them to like my Facebook page. She also markets to new service companies throughout the nation by scraping information through google maps. Once she enters them into the system they receive a series of marketing emails automatically. Moving forward, I intend to affiliate with multiple companies that compete with Service Autopilot so I can be the go-to spot for service companies who are looking for CRM software. My end goal is to be an affiliate hub for different business services. I hope this information was helpful and you can use some of these ideas in your business start up venture! Ask me anything!
