Could a Costco Special Dividend Be Coming? One Analyst Thinks Yes, at $10 a Share. Posted: 26 Sep 2020 01:33 PM PDT Baird analyst Peter Benedict, in a research note published Friday, said the chances of Costco (ticker: COST) paying a special dividend "seem to be rising." The company has paid several special dividends through the years, most recently in 2017. Costco on Friday reported strong fiscal-fourth quarter earnings of $3.13 a share, up from $2.47 a year earlier. Benedict observed that the discount retailer has "excess cash on the balance sheet and fundamentals remain strong. Benedict sees Costco paying a special dividend of around $10 a share. The company last declared a special dividend in 2017, in that case $7 a share. It paid a special dividend of $5 a share in 2015, and one for $7 a share in 2012. Costco CFO Richard Galanti, who was asked about a special dividend during an earnings conference call nearly a year ago, said: [T]hey are special, and so we'll have to wait and see what we decide to do in the future." Posted: 26 Sep 2020 10:58 AM PDT I bought 42 shares a few months back at $52. Now the price sits at $42 since the drop and hasn't moved much. Is there any chance I can just wait it out and get my money back, or should I just give up and sell and get $ back in something else? [link] [comments]
Anyone long on Pinterest? (PINS) Posted: 26 Sep 2020 10:12 AM PDT One way or another I do not encounter too much enthusiasm about this stock! I think the company has great potential now that they have monetized parts of their platform, and started collaborating with Shopify. Currently I am up 28%. I bought quite some shares back when they were still 22$. Anyone else who is long? If not, what are your thoughts on this stock, if any? [link] [comments]

Posted: 26 Sep 2020 12:45 PM PDT I want to know if I understand the basic concept of ROI, within context of the index funds. I am investing in index funds, for the sole purpose of tracking the overall performance of the stock market. If we assume that the market will perform at a 7% rate of return each year, what does that look like for my investment? Do I simply multiply the price of the index fund by 1.07, and anticipate that to be the rough increase in value each year. For example, if I bought a $50 index fund on Jan. 1 (year 1), could I multiply that by 1.07, and expect the value of my investment to increase to $53.50? Does that subsequently mean that the price of that same index fund would be $53.50 if I wanted to buy more on Jan. 1 of year 2? Lastly, if I extended this out by 20 years with the same assumptions, I could expect my initial investment to be valued at $207.03. I would just multiply the value of the investment as of Jan. 1 for each subsequent year by 1.07, for 20 consecutive years. It seems a bit crazy to imagine the price of a stock market index fund would be greater than $200. That doesn't sound very sustainable or practical for a new investor to enter the market I feel like my understanding is all wrong here, but I'm hoping someone can explain it better to me [link] [comments]
Where does Fintel source their information? Posted: 26 Sep 2020 05:09 PM PDT One of the companies I've been looking at was supposed to have their ER which was scheduled for last Thursday, however, they delayed it. Fintel last week changed the amount of its outstanding shares by almost 95,000,000 shares. When asked about this they assured me that this was the correct and the most up to date amount. For some reason today, Fintel changed the amount of outstanding shares back to the original amount. Does Fintel usually make mistakes like this? [link] [comments]
[NKLA] "Nikola founder bought truck designs from third party" Posted: 26 Sep 2020 03:17 PM PDT https://www.ft.com/content/9bd5e3f3-4d09-458c-b390-bc94b1f4a024 Haven't seen this article mentioned anywhere else yet. How deep do the web of lies go? I would assume Mr Hindenburg Research has already picked out the colors of his 7 Lamborghinis he is buying shortly (1 for each day of the week) [link] [comments]

(Discussion) In your opinion, is it immoral to bet on the VIX? Posted: 26 Sep 2020 02:38 PM PDT I bought a lot of shares of UVXY a couple weeks ago. All was good until I realized when I was driving that I was cheering at the market crashing. Then I realized, my thoughts of another wave of Covid would be excellent for my shares of the VIX. I felt a bunch of shame considering the lives lost and sadness that surrounded this pandemic. It made me wonder how other people (who have a conscience, trolls need not reply) feel about this? It seems that it would be silly since the market does what it's going to do no matter my portfolio, but still was kinda put off by my own mindset and "hopes" for a nightmare. Care to discuss? Why is this popular stock behaving like this? Posted: 26 Sep 2020 10:50 AM PDT Versarien Plc stock (LSE:VRS) has been behaving in a way that makes investors feel disappointed and that has been going on for most part of this year. The market tried to recover its previous losses in April 2020, but that effort became futile as it has started coming down (sooner) from then till now: https://uk.advfn.com/newspaper/azeez-mustapha/56831/why-is-this-popular-stock-behaving-like-this [link] [comments]
Looking for stock percentage alerts beyond 1-day alerts ... any suggestions? Posted: 26 Sep 2020 09:35 AM PDT I know plenty of apps let you set alerts for when a stock fluctuates +/- 5% in a day, for example. I'm wondering if you fine people know of any apps or websites that will alert you if a stock changes in value over any floating period of time. For example, over the last three months, a stock has moved up and down, but trended upwards and is about 35% in that period. Over the next month, it corrects down about 20%. The app/site would notice that over the past month or so, it is down 20%. I know some apps that let you say "if a stock falls by 20% from this price, alert me," but I would need to set up that alert every day in case the stock continues to climb, and then as it starts falling, it would be a lot of manual math to get that going. Very much appreciative of any help! [link] [comments]

Posted: 26 Sep 2020 02:17 AM PDT Just bought a few more shares of BABA to capitalise on the hype. I have set up an account with an international broker and am thinking of buying Ant Group day one. My strategy would be to sell some shares in the short term to cash in on the first day pop, and hold some for the long term. To me all the signs are pointing up. I am only worried that with all the news and anticipation surrounding this IPO, it may be over-hyped and drop after making only mediocre gains on the first day, which would then be a better entry point. I am a relatively amateur investor when it comes to stocks, so anything that may give me pause or may make me reconsider this would be very much appreciated. It just feels almost like too good an opportunity to be true. [link] [comments]

Anywhere to get access to Research and Markets reports for free? Posted: 26 Sep 2020 02:24 AM PDT Guessing no, but always worth asking! Say I want a quick look at something inside: https://www.researchandmarkets.com/reports/2986980/global-joint-venture-partnering-terms-and?w=12 But am not paying £2800 for it! Any way to get this level of research much cheaper or even free? Or are you just totally locked out as a private investor. To collect all the info I'd want, I'd need dozens of these, and just a little bit of info from each one. Not worth it unless you're actually in the industry making major decisions, but also valuable as an investor when you're researching a company. [link] [comments] |
