    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 03:33 AM PDT

Basically, they didn't mean to give her the money. Nevermind the fact that it was their mistake. The reason listed on the letter is that the benefits "were received during a period of ineligibility" but she filled out her application and they gave her the money, so wouldn't that be on them? We are very stressed out about this. I don't know what to do, you can't even get these people on the phone. My state is VA. They're saying she needs to pay them 6 grand immediately and she doesn't have that kind of money, she literally used it for rent and groceries. She's a massage therapist and legally could not work anywhere during the pandemic. She's gonna try to appeal it obviously but who does something like this??

2 questions. What SHOULD I do, and also what CAN they do to us? We obviously can't afford to pay it we're both poor and work very hard for our money

I'm also worried that they're going to randomly come after me as well. Why haven't I heard about this happening to people? I feel like this is news-worthy.

(AB, Canada) Neighbor's Dog Ate Poisonous Plant Off My Front Porch And Died

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 06:30 AM PDT

I'm sorry for the long post but it's been really stressing me out.

So I (26F) am a house plant enthusiast and I love finding some super rare exotic houseplants. During the hot days leading up to cold fall, I like to keep a few on my porch so they can bask in the sun during the day and bring them back in during the colder nights. I do own a few that are more or less poisonous to animals and human consumption however I live alone so I never thought of it to be an issue.

Last spring, a new family moved in with have two very large dogs. They have two kids probably around 10-12, and almost every day they'll walk these dogs off leash around the neighborhood. I never found this to be a problem because they'll always clean up after the dogs.

So here's where it all hits the fan. Last Thursday I get a loud bang on my door and it was my neighbor. And based on what his kids are saying, they were walking the dogs and one of them ran onto my porch and started so chew on one of my plants (sago palm). They called him back right away but within 15 minutes their dog started throwing up, having seizures, and died at the vets after they tried pumping out his stomach or something. From the looks of the plant, he ate quite a bit of middle which holds the seeds, which I admit are very toxic to dogs. They now are wanting me to pay for what the dogs costed them, I think he said it was a Purebreed Tibetan Mastiff and they paid $4000. They also want me to pay the vet fee ($2500), emotional damage because his kids are traumatized their dog died right in front of thrm ($1500). I told him that's not fair because it was his dog that came onto my property and ate my plant but he said I shouldn't have such toxic plants in a neighborhood with dogs in the first place. And told me if I don't pay he'll take legal action.

Now I'm freaking out because I don't have $8000 dollars to pay for all that and I don't know if I can even afford a lawyer if he takes me to court. Do I have any legal right or is there anything I can do?

Help! Recorded in MY home without Consent During Sex

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 05:11 AM PDT

I guess I should start with I beyond humiliated with being in this situation at all

About 2 weeks ago I was in bed with my partner M(36) giving him oral sex, he on his back me between his legs, I feel that he had turned his body, thought nothing of it based on his positive feedback from the act taking place.

I F(30) had been down there a while and I was coming up for air, I raise the covers and I immediately looking dead at the back of his cellphone in both of his hands turned sideways. I'm completely shocked, frozen and mortified.

He fumbles around, asks me if I wanted to listen to music. I barely could utter the very deep "NO" that came out of me and that was the end of the session.

I was shocked and didn't know what to do. I want to believe he somehow was not recording #1 because it would only very dark grainy movements under multiple blankets and then only showing my VERY shocked face at the end and #2 because I have been going crazy these last 2 weeks trying to convince myself this is not happening to me.

I have asked him to delete the video, and stated in writing that I did not consent to being filmed. This took place in MY home in MY bed. I NEVER let men in my home I have major trust issues with men.

I'm hoping someone can help explain it away or tell me what I can do to protect myself. I don't feel like it's worth sharing since the room was so dark and my body was covered but it bothers me he would hold on to it at all and someone else view it and see my face.

    Any advice is helpful.

he is a state police officer in Michigan

    Thanks

The funeral home double plotted my family

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 11:19 AM PDT

This is the second time this has happened to my family and we are getting close to the point where we want to sue. I decided to help my mom by posting here in hopes we can build a case or find better options than sue.

Twenty to thirty years ago my great grandfather purchased six burial plots so we would have somewhere to bury his children and their children for one generation. After he passed we found out the funeral home double sold one of the plots. Easy to solve, right? Just offer to give us our six plots in another location, right? They chose to request we pay 4,000$ to have him moved to another plot with six openings. Luckily after threatening to sue he was moved for free. After this we thought the ordeal was over, sadly we were wrong. Another family member passed away, my great aunt, and we found out they did it again. Three of our relatives are buried there now and we would have to pay 12,000 or so to have them moved to another plot again. My family wants the other person to be moved from our plot instead of moving my three family members.

-If you're curious as to why the funeral home has managed to do this they are entirely non-digital and belive keeping everything in folders and physical documents is easier.

I will be able to answer any questions and will check my post as often as I can.

    Edit: Grammar

Friend being scammed by her roommate?

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 04:23 AM PDT

Posting on behalf of my friend who doesn't use reddit and is looking for some opinions. This is taking place is New Hampshire, USA.

My friend moved out of her family home and moved in with her roommate a few months ago (2 I think) and thinks her roommate is scamming her out of utilities. This is her first time living on her own. Her roommate asked her for utilities, tell her she owed her $150 for her 50% of electric and WiFi. She paid her the $150 and casually brought it up in convo with me and her family, in which we all came to an agreement that there is no way her WiFi + electric total is $300 a month. We told her she needed to ask for the bill, but her roommate refuses to show her.

My friend decided to find a new place (currently just month to month contract) and gave her 30 day notice. She asked her roommate to pay her back for the excess money, but she refuses. After some searching, my found her WiFi plan online which is just $40 a month, which would mean she just pays $20. So she asked again to see the electric bill because we're still skeptical of a $260 total electric bill for the month and, yet again, she refuses to show her. She later told my friend that she was taking extra money and saving it for the winter heat bill, but 1) how do we know she's saving it? 2) she never told my friend this and 3) my friend is moving out, so won't be there for winter.

Is there anything my friend can do to get her money back? She thinks her friend is committing fraud, but this isn't our area of expertise. Thanks!

Fired not because I'm trans, but because our customers don't like that im trans (California)

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 08:58 AM PDT

I work (or I guess worked) for a very small company in a rural part of the state. There are somewhere between 10 and 15 employees total, and the "HR Dept" is just the owner and his wife. I've worked there for over 6 months without issue, and up until now I've only received glowing reviews from the owner and the manager. I work hard, and have a good relationship with like, 80% of our regular customers.

Yesterday, the owner had me come into the office, where he explained that he had gotten dozens of complaints about me, mostly on the phone or in person, but quite a few emails and letters. He showed me a couple, some of which from regular customers that I got on with very well, with phrases like "I'm not coming back until you get rid of that trnny fg" (actual quote). I asked for a copy of it but he declined. Then he said that a lot of these customers were his bread and butter, that he couldn't afford to lose them, and that he had to let me go, for cause (meaning he'll contest my unemployment if I file for it).

The first thing I did was go home and get drunk, but this morning I'm wondering what, if any options I have. I'm almost certain this is illegal.

Business workers taking up all the spots on my street (cook county)

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 05:24 AM PDT

There is a company across the street from me and for the past few winters and summers they have expanded and gotten more staff. For the entire day they park on my block and take up all the spaces in front of the houses and park very inconsiderately. Is there anyway to make a street residential only? No one parks in their back alley and there is always spaces available i don't understand why they park on our street. They do it even when their visible staff lot isn't full and Its annoying. If there's nothing I can do about it thats fine, just looking at all my options here. I've emailed and messaged the owner probably about 3 times and usually itd resolve for a bit slightly but it just results back to this.

Security Deposit Help for late move out by 1 hour.

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 12:43 PM PDT

I recently moved out of a property that I had paid $1000 in security deposit for. The move-out day was September 25th, 2020, at 12 pm. I booked a U-Haul for the same day but because of the high volume of users as it was moving out season, I could not get my U-haul on time. So I booked a rental car and was completely moved out by 1 pm. In this one hour, the agent checked up on the house and gave me a thumbs up that it's not a problem that my furniture was on the porch. Today, when I received my security deposit, it said that they have "Forfeited Security Deposit due to late move out" and have kept the $1000. I am an international student and this pandemic has already caused me and my family a lot of economic hardships. What do you think I should do in this situation? Is it even legal to keep the security deposit is it's not for damages and late fees?

I am located in Philadelphia, PA near the Drexel University campus.

Bought a car over a week ago from a dealership. Everything was signed, I got insurance for it, and then I got a call from the dealership last night saying I owe them an additional $2,600.......

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 07:13 AM PDT

So like the title says, I've been driving the car for over a week now. I paid $2,500 down, and the rest was financed through the credit union I bank with. The car salesperson was in direct contact with my credit union, faxing info to them and speaking with them on the phone the day I bought the car. I was told that everything was approved, and I signed all the papers and happily drove home in my new car. Last night, the dealership calls me and says that actually the full amount was NOT covered and we owe them an additional $2,600. I am panicking because I worked so hard to build my credit and be financed through my credit union. I do not have an extra $2,600. He quickly said that he already found a different bank we could go through, but I told him I would need to speak with my bank tomorrow(now today) and that I would call him back.

I don't understand how I could sign all the papers and be driving the car all week if it wasn't fully financed..... Something feels very off here. I sent an e-mail directly to the salesperson I had been working with asking for an explanation. She did not reply, but instead her boyfriend(who also works there, but is not the same person who called me) sent me an email back. This is what it said:

"We have a approval for the same payment that you signed up at it is just with a different bank. Columbia Credit union. Just need you sign a membership application. We can e-mail it to you if you do not want to come to the dealership.

    Thanks

    Jason "

So not only was my question dodged completely, but they are trying to push me to another credit union. Something feels off here. Should I just return the car to them? Is there something they aren't telling me? Any insight is very much appreciated. My stomach has been in knots over this.

My parents are asking me to lie to CPS. Can I?

    Posted: 25 Sep 2020 03:23 PM PDT

I don't feel comfortable lying to authorities, but my father has already said some things. If I say otherwise, the story will not match up. What do I do?

    More information (edit):

I am 17F with two siblings 14F and 7M. My sister recently called 911 because she was suffering from a suicidal breakdown and taken to the E.R.. She is now in a hospital in our state NC, U.S.. After some therapy, CPS has decided to investigate. My parents have asked CPS to come back next week, but they've told me to deny corporal punishment. I may be disowned if I do not.

Edit: My parents are hiring a lawyer.

Edit: I have been disowned. Starting in a few months, I will not be in contact with my parents and will be cut out of any wills.

Edit: The state lawyer has called my father. My sister will not be coming home.

    Can I terminate my lease?

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 10:04 AM PDT

Hi guys, I'm looking for a little advice on what to do. Me and my wife just recently moved from our apartment into an older place in an attempt to save money. However, we both did not realize how poor the condition of this place was.

A few things have happened in the 1 month I have lived here. I have had two sewer back ups with raw sewage backing up into my bath tub (thank goodness it did not overflow), the dumpsters are not taken care of whatsoever, trash all over the ground, some trash overflowing into the public street, people illegally dumping old couches and mattresses on the ground next to dumpsters. There is exposed electrical wires in the bedroom closets, which unbeknownst to me is illegal (I know next to nothing about what is up to code). There are light bulbs missing from a few fixtures (not a big deal), the bathroom faucet does not work properly with very little water coming out. One of the drawers in the fridge was already broken when we moved in and is very sharp jagged pieces of plastic which has yet to be fixed (I put in a work request a month ago when we moved in).

My bath tub backed up last night and the plumber came out and was unable to relieve the clog and said they would have to come back tomorrow (this morning). So I am currently unable to use my bathroom because the bathtub is half full of sewer water, currently waiting for plumber to call me to come out today. The landlord company has been somewhat responsive on the plumbing issues, but all the other issues have been basically ignored. They never even came to look at my faucet and marked my work request as "completed". They did clean up the dumpsters and then within 2 weeks they are back to horrible condition.

Honestly at this point I just want to get out of here. I was hoping you guys have any suggestions on what to do? (I am in San Diego, California if that helps).

My terminally ill uncle is being screwed over by his Common Law wife, what can we do?

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 12:10 PM PDT

We live in Oklahoma, in the US.

Jon and his girlfriend Ann have been together for 6-7 years, and just became common law married in September. My uncle Jon also has stage 4 cancer and has been in and out of hospital for the last 4 years.

Within 4 days of being "married", she would leave him alone in his house for 10-12 hours a day, despite him barely being able to walk. We didn't know about this until recently, when he told us she sent him an "invoice for $5,000 for the care she's provided him so far."

She has taken his truck, and says she will not return it until he buys it back for $10,000. She has also taken the furniture from his house and has it in a storage unit for "asset protection".

This is making me more than a little confused because she shouldn't be able to do any of this. I understand they are considered common law now, but he owned the house and truck before they married, and she doesn't have any real proof that she provided care to him so far. Also, apparently we can't stay at Jons house and make sure she doesn't come in because she lives there, so it would be illegal to bar her from the premises, and she could kick us out if she wanted.

I also want to add (if it hold any importance) that's she been a bit wacky since January or February of this year. Whether she has an illness or she's on drugs, we don't know, but she talks like she's nuts, and she's gone for 12 hours a day to go to some house in Midwest City. Whether it's drugs or an affair, again we don't know.

I guess my main questions are- a. Is she actually allowed to do any of this? Does Common Law Marriages allow her to exercise these kinds of rights?

    b. Would Jon be able to put a restraining order against her to at least keep her off the property?

    c. They had each other written as powers of attorney, Jon thought this would only mean anything if he was incapacitated, but I guess not. All his lawyer has done so far is take back the power of attorney. Is there more he should be doing, or is this all he can do so far?

    Thank you in advance

Can my live in landlords just decided out of nowhere that my roommates and myself are going to be charged for utilities? Can they cancel services as a punishment?

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 01:17 PM PDT

It's an additional 25% rent. We're month to month.

I pay $900/mo to rent a room, a sizable bedroom and bathroom. The house is huge, gorgeous but in a really awful neighborhood. Our cars have all been rummaged through. I did not mind the neighborhood as they had a very good security system.

I went to pay rent yesterday, and the female R.M. said I owe $1150 now. I was expecting an extra $50-100 tops for utilities but she said it was $250. I was shocked and asked for proof of the bills.

Apparently my other renting-roommates were livid and they reached out to me and we all decided over drinks to leave, but also that we could not until dec. We came to an agreement to offer them an extra $100 flat rate on top of our rent to be paid mid month. I didn't get a chance to tell them as apparently something broke in the younger roommate. He is doing some petty things like threatening to cancel the security system out of nowhere to texting that he actually canceled it. He did some other minor things but I'm uncomfortable here.

Now, my 3 roommates and I are all 30+ and just feel that this is a shakedown. The rent outside this house has skyrocketed and places are empty. The rent bubble is about to bust here. I want to tell them I'm not paying any extra rent, but I also can't move at the moment. Are they allowed to randomly charge extra without a new lease and with the eviction moratorium on? And also cancel services as a de facto punishment?

    Thanks!

TL;DR, can my live in landlord add expensive utilities to my rent total and due to my request for proof of dues, cancel one of the services? Not to mention the cancellation was before the rent was due because he was upset.

My mom wants me to kill her.

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 10:11 AM PDT

My whole situation with my mother is complicated so I am willing to elaborate on the comments. Anyways my mom has some sort of physical issues, though I don't think she's diagnosed with anything in particular. She's been bedridden a lot and takes some kind of (prescribed) opioid to help with pain. That's all I know about her situation. I live with her about 40% of the time now that I'm 16 mostly because she scares me and does weird things like bite me (I can't cut her off, I've tried). Most of the time she jokes about how one day I'll have to suffocate her to put her out of her misery. I always tell her it isn't funny but she keeps going with it. Lately she's been worse and she's been elaborating her "plans" about how I will leave and tell the police I didn't see her and blame her death on being overweight. I would like to think it's a joke still but it concerns me and I am worried that if I (living in California) tell an adult about this cps could get involved which CANNOT HAPPEN. It would leave her hating me so much. I just want to know if I can tell others and if in horrible case of her making me do it if I'd be charged? Not that I'd EVER want that to happen it's just that she can be threatening and I'm scared I'll be forced.

TL;DR: if I tell someone my mom wants me to kill her would it get cps involved? and if I did kill her would I be charged?

PA 17 year old son’s probation case for weed is being closed. What does that mean?

I asked his probation officer if that meant he would be drug tested and she didn't give me a straight answer. Do you think he will be? She said the case needs to be closed by Oct 6th and if we couldn't come down to the juvenile detention center we could go to our local police station.

    Unpaid Internship Advice

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 07:17 AM PDT

Hello! I'm in CA and recently graduated college and like most graduates, had a difficult time finding a full time job, especially due to the circumstances right now.

I took on an unpaid internship because I truly was desperate for any type of work in my field (which hindsight is 20/20 will never do this again) and thought this would be a good way to get experience. I think this internship is illegal and I'm not comfortable with what they're asking me to do.

    1. I was not aware I would be the only employee. Originally, there was another intern who also was working but quit and I ended up being moved to her role. Basically, its just me and my boss.

    2. I originally was working on their social media and creating designs for them, which is what the job description entailed. After the first month working on this for them, I was moved to the previous interns role and my job duties increased.

    3. I'm basically putting in 40+ hours a week. Honestly, I was basically handed a company to run on my own since I'm doing social, content, emails, website, business calls, and company partnering. I'm even being told to write legal documents which I have no experience with. What started out as an internship has become the workload of 5+ separate jobs.

    4. My boss had me change my job description on LinkedIn to seem like I have a "higher" position to those who might see it. This is because another part of my job duties includes connecting with other companies.

    5. I never signed a contract of any sort when I first started.

    6. They claim they are a non-profit but up until recently, my boss told me they are not officially registered.

    7. I'm being told to say specific things to potential partners to make it seem like the company is more established than it really is.

    8. If I quit, I'm worried I will not be able to put this on my resume but at this point I do not have it in me to continue working. Its caused me a huge amount of stress, which no unpaid internship should ever do. However, I'm currently in the process of a huge project (which is the main goal of the company) which will most likely not happen if I quit.

I'm at my breaking point with this internship as the workload is extremely difficult to handle, especially for being unpaid. I was excited to work in a field of my interest and I'm sad its turned out this way.

I'm worried my boss will be angry towards me for quitting. I want to know what my options are with this, if it is indeed an illegal unpaid internship? What are some next steps I should take?

TLDR: Unpaid internship has become an unpaid full-time job and I don't think this is legal.

[GA] I've been banned from all investment firms because of a white collar crime I committed when I was 18...

    Posted: 25 Sep 2020 08:55 PM PDT

Hi there, looking for any advice because my financial advisor nor my family lawyer has any clue.

10+ years ago, when I was 18, I was convicted of a white collar crime (related to hacking/fraud). And because the nature of the crime was at a national level, I was indicted by the federal government. I learned my lesson quick, and now live- what I believe- is a relatively normal life.

Two years ago I was suddenly blocked from my Capital One account, which I had used for 5+ years in great standing, utilizing credit cards for personal and business. I was extremely confused, I called 5 times, each representative said they "couldn't disclose the exact reason behind my termination". I kept calling and finally got a nice lady on the phone that hinted it had something to do with my felony.

Fast forward a 2 months ago. I've had a TD Ameritrade account in good standing for 4 years, I hadn't checked up on it in a year, I decided to login- deactivated. Called them and gave same response as Capital One. Didn't care so much because I didn't use TDA much.

I've had an investment fund managed with my personal financial advisor for a year and a half. He decided he wanted to move to Charles Schwab, I agreed, and I filled out the application. My advisor called me last week and said I've been dropped... immediately after I submitted my app. My advisor spoke to a Charles Schwab Rep and and managed to get some details. Apparently I'm on a list called AML (anti-money laundering), which most banks and investment firms are now starting to implement.

I'm completely clueless. I've Google'd, spoken with a few local attorneys, none of which have heard anything like this. I absolutely need to have a general investment and retirement fund. Beyond that, I'm starting to get worried about my soon-to-be mortgage application being denied for the same reasons, or even my personal bank account.

The only suggestions I've received so far was write/call my state's senators and/or the POTUS. I'm clueless and completely desperate, and piece of advice is appreciated.

If it helps at all, here's the letter I received today from Charles Schwab explaining why my account was terminated: https://imgur.com/cjurxWC

The same wordage is almost exactly similar to the other accounts I've had terminated- extremely broad.

    My ex drugged me

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 10:46 AM PDT

(PA) So my ex and I ended badly he raped, and abused me. But I just recently found out that he drugged me and took pictures of me after he raped me. I found this out because he violated the PFA and the police took his phone for a data dump, they found the messages along with pictures of me. I found this out while in a meeting with my attorney, they told me "in these pictures you didn't look fully there" they showed me a blurred version of the picture and I looked like I had been drugged, I was crying in the photo and I had bruises all over me. When they showed me the photo I burst into tears. I have to go to a court hearing soon after my attorney speaks to the school district, because that problem never got taken care of. I put this in legal advice because I want to know what the next steps would be, my attorneys wouldn't really tell me anything since I was upset so I'm left confused. Again; I'm 16, and my ex is 18. He raped me from ages 13-15. When he was 16 when I was 13, 17, when I was 14 and 18, when I was 15, I just recently turned 16 so he is still 18.

(UT, USA) Can we fight a Contractual Allowance Adjustment on a hospital bill?

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 02:29 PM PDT

My fiancé and I were in a car accident where we both had to be hospitalized. We just got the hospital bill for my fiancé's visit where it states the total charges were $11,000, and insurance covered $9,900 of that. You would think that would leave us owing only $1,100 of the bill, right? But there is an itemized section where, at the bottom underneath the insurance payments it list a "Contractual Allowance Adjustment" adding an additional $3,900 to the bill so we owe $5,000 instead. I was alarmed by this and so I looked it up and it seems that contractual allowance adjustments typically take the bill down, not up. It comes across that they are charging us additional money for work that wasn't even provided just because they can. Is my understanding of this correct, and if so could we get a lawyer to fight this?

Mom was injured at work (Illinois)

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 02:28 PM PDT

Hello all my Mom recently was injured at work at a retail workplace. I don't know the full story yet but she hurt her arm (don't know if it's broken yet) and cracked her denture plate. She only started working there because covid reduced her other jobs hours and we are not doing really good financially.

She's currently at the hospital now and I'm on my way from visiting a friend at their lake house. She obviously can't work and can't even type for her other job. What are the next steps? My father and I obviously want her to take legal action.

Renting a house for 5 years and my landlady now wants to move in and wants me out.

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 02:20 PM PDT

This is in NY. Suffolk County to be more exact. After a divorce, I rented a 2 bedroom house for me and my son. Signed a 2 year lease, first, last and 2 security deposits (she had issues with her last tenant I was told). She started out living in another dwelling, but kept a small apartment in what would be the basement. 1 electric meter and 1 furnace. She was barely there, so I never felt like I was paying a crazy amount for the 2. Year 2, I decided, as a convenience, to predate 12 rent checks, so she could cash them when rent was due. Lived out the 2 years, we both decided that it was ok to sign another lease, but she never got around to it. But assured me that her lawyer said it's all good, it's like we're still going by the same lease. 2 more years go by, no issues. That is, until she hired 2 contractors (moonlighting iron workers who showed up whenever they felt like it). They started last sept, and still haven't finished. Covid hits, and she decides to hide out in her apartment, which turns into "I'd like to move upstairs and you can move down here, without your son" (who has been working since he's been legal, bought his own used car and helps with the bills, and I have NO thought about throwing him out). Since then, it's just gotten worse. Texts at all hours of the night, telling me to stop smoking in her house (we are non-smokers), she accused myself and my son of robbing her apartment (she has 2 cameras, a WiFi deadbolt, ring doorbell and a house alarm for her area. Oh, and the breaker panel is downstairs as well.)When she threatened to call the police unless her stuff was returned, I asked her if she'd like me to call them for her. She said she would. Still waiting. She also accused me of stealing the pre-dated checks I wrote to her, which mysteriously ended up cashed with her signature on the back for the rent. I guess what I'm asking, is this legit harassment? I'm in the myst of buying my first home, and I'm fairly certain, with all of her wackiness, I won't see the security deposits unless I take her to court. Would me cancelling the rest of the checks and just living out 1 month of that security be an issue she could take me to court over, as some kind of "expectation of payment"? If there's anything else I'm not explaining well, please let me know. Thanks.

Edit... turns out her apartment is illegal if that means much.

Coworker has covid symptoms, still showed up, management was informed, did nothing. Can we/how do we report this?

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 02:13 PM PDT

We have a coworker who's child went back to school. That child's classmate tested positive for covid. The child then started showing symptoms, now the coworker is showing symptoms. She has been coughing so hard she can hardly speak and is hoarse. She left after an hour working today because she was sweating so much. We are required to fill out a pre-screening survey and get our temperatures checked before reporting to work every day, and there is no way she is doing that or answering honestly.

She has been reported at least twice to management who did nothing about it. Didn't send her home, didn't write her up for not following policy, nothing. She handles food and is in close quarters with coworkers, and it feels as though nothing is being done to protect those of us following the rules.

Is there any "higher authority" we can report this to to force management to take action, or improve protection for us? We no longer feel safe working because she poses a danger to us.

EDIT to add, we are in New York state.

[USA-CALIFORNIA} Steps after creating/amending a California Living Trust

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 01:43 PM PDT

So having just amended a Revocable California Living Trust document, wondering what the next steps are.

I assume that once a notary public signs the amendment, the document does not have to be further registered with the State of California or the County in any form (i.e., the Trustee and Grantor keep a copy, and that is sufficient)?

Does a copy of the Living Trust, together with the Amendment need to be sent to the Successor Trustees?

Assuming any property has already been transferred into the living trust, are there any additional steps to be taken to minimize inheritance taxes for the beneficiaries?

Also, how does one deal with beneficiaries who are not US citizens or US residents?
