Anyone run Linkedin & email cold outreach simultaneously? Posted: 29 Sep 2020 10:28 AM PDT Hey there! I am looking to send out invites on Linkedin after sending our target market an email or two in hopes to create more touchpoints, credibility, & increasing the odds of them seeing content in relation to our product. Currently, I have a 6 step cold email sequence that is getting decent returns. After they open my second email, I send them an automated invite on LinkedIn, asking to connect saying that I want to connect with more people in the industry. After that, I don't do anything with Linkedin. I feel like I am leaving opportunity on the table if they decide to connect with me. For those of you that are running cold email + Linkedin campaigns, what does your sequence look like? Any secret sauce? I am thinking that a better sequence would be to first add them on Linkedin, then send the first cold email with something like 'Thanks for connecting on Linkedin' Then an email describing how we solve many problems in the industry and ask for a 10 min call. If I don't get a response, send them a Linkedin message saying something like 'hey there! I sent you an email a couple of days ago but I didn't hear back. I thought Linkedin might be a better place to reach out... etc. ' Then if they don't respond, sticking with email until they run through my sequence and I am at risk of spamming them haha. Obviously, that way requires a ton more manual work, even though there are some tools that will automate this. But I would love to get feedback and ideas. Thanks a bunch! [link] [comments] |
Had the funniest call with a CEO of a waste management company today Posted: 29 Sep 2020 04:38 AM PDT A lead came through and I did a bit of research into the org and the CEO and did not expect to hear the following from a guy who runs a multi million dollar business. *phone rings* him: "yo" (just lol at a CEO saying answering calls in this manner on his business phone) me: "hey x this is y from z did I catch you at a bad time?" him: "YES" me: "when would be a better a time" him: "never" me: "roger that" *hang up* [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Sep 2020 09:37 AM PDT Hello Sales team, I am also a sales person like you and also I happen to be a developer. Pandemic has been actually very productive for me. I was having tons of online sales calls and then at the end of the call, I had to take the meeting notes which is a pain and most unproductive task. So, I thought to take this challenge and solve it. Here is what I have done so far - Here is a quick background of what I have been working on - ReChord is an AI-powered tool that connects with your online meeting platforms like Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Zoom Meetings, Webinars etc and at the of the meeting it gives you a summary, highlights, action items, full transcript, speaker information etc. Features that are very exciting for users like you and me -
From last 2 months, we have been doing BETA testing and we got really great feedback and suggestions, we have improved lots of things. And now we are in the 2nd and final BETA phase. If you are having too much sales calls and tired of taking notes, you must use this tool, I am confident, it will save you tons of time. No more taking notes!! Here is the link to check out the tool - www.rechord.ai/beta We are currently onboarding users with private 30 mins product demo, so that we can show you the tool and onboard you on the spot. Excited to show you the tool. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Sep 2020 09:34 AM PDT Hey guys, hope you can help here. I was recently "separated" from my company with a small severance due to performance (hit most of my metrics, but closing revenue is difficult these days...). I was put on a performance plan to "turn things around" and only given 30 days which can be very difficult in an Enterprise role. I had the option of riding out the plan or to just walk away with a severance... This is the first time i've ever been in this position so it's a bit of an ego hit :( With that said, the unemployment office contacted my employer who said I was "Discharged/fired" for "unsatisfactory performance." I have to complete a questionnaire to try and collect my UE benefits. My employer told me they will not contest or fight my claim, and it's up to the state to grant the benefit if they see fit... I'm in Ohio if that helps... Does anyone have any pointers? Questions being asked are: What was the nature of work, what were your specific duties, did you meet those duties, were others in your position able to hit those duties, etc... Any buzz words to use/avoid? Thanks for any help, again, i've never been in this position. [link] [comments] |
Just got into abatement sales in California and holy cow this industry is wild. Posted: 28 Sep 2020 08:03 PM PDT I was an AE for an ad agency that went bust due to the pandemic. We specialized in building large sculptures for campaigns that went into the public sphere. Dead industry now. Got a 1-click apply offer from InDeed and clicked it. 3 weeks later I was in an interview that I honestly only took to sharpen my interview skills. 'Asbestos Abatement?' I thought it would be a shit company doing shit things with Shit pay. Boy was I wrong. If you can get yourself into a BD role within a construction style company the money and need is there. My job is a cake walk (way easier than my last) T&E covered and it rains (expected to spend 1k+ a week). Company car, 60k base with 150k annual being my expected. I don't do shit but schmooze and my project managers take care of the rest. It honestly a dream job and I owe r/sales a beer for all the advice. [link] [comments] |
If I want to be an SAAS, Pharmaceutical, or Financial services SDR, do I... Posted: 29 Sep 2020 10:01 AM PDT If I wans to become a SAAS SDR and have no experience but a college degree, do I start a Youtube channel and promote/affiliate marketing: SAAS, software, junkware, antivirus, etc? Then include it in my resume? If I want to represent a pharmaceutical company and have no sales experience but a college degree, do I start affiliate marketing in nutritional supplements, sketchy pills, etc? And then link it to my resume? If I want to rep a financial institution, do I start a blog with credit card recommendations, life insurance, etc, and then link it in my resume? How does one get an SDR job without sales experience? Affiliate marketing? [link] [comments] |
Sign on Bonus? Potential New Job but Serious Commissions I May Miss On Posted: 29 Sep 2020 07:26 AM PDT Original Post Following up on this, within the last couple of days some larger deals closed at my current employer. I'm slated to make a combined $10k in commissions throughout Oct. and Nov. - then another $10k in bonus money that I'd get middle of January for hitting my quota this year. How have others handled this when in similar situations? Do I ask for a sign on bonus in that amount? A portion? Or do I just have to accept leaving that amount of commission on the table to get into an industry that is a little more well positioned heading into the future? Again, feedback is appreciated! Including case studies in proposals sent after the demo? Posted: 29 Sep 2020 10:25 AM PDT I'm wondering if this is a good idea. What I'm thinking is, this proposal will be shared with at least a few people besides the person who you do the demo with. So when they share the proposal, they'll be sharing those case studies indirectly too. Or should the proposal just be as minimal as possible? [link] [comments] |
Recommendations for SaaS commission structure Posted: 29 Sep 2020 10:19 AM PDT I run a SaaS company and have started hiring sales people. I was interested in hearing people's opinions on sales commission in namely 3 scenarios:
Would you expect the same comm in all 3 scenarios? Any advice or expertise in this area is highly appreciated [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Sep 2020 08:57 AM PDT I'm working in an SDR org right now where only 10-15% of reps hit their quarterly goal and it's the same handful of reps every time. After looking at their opps, it's clear that they're benefitting largely from territory / vertical alignment and they're getting constant lay ups like inbound demo requests and free trials. I'm on the higher end of the spectrum in terms of attainment so I did not write this post to complain, but the vast majority of reps barely hit 50% of their quarterly goal. Is this common in tech sales? It seems like territory and inbound lead flow is more of a difference maker than skill / talent. For my territory, it's almost 100% cold outbound. Does this even out in the AE role where skill plays a bigger role in one's success? Or is it still all about who got lucky with their territory? Curious to hear your thoughts on this. What commission percentage is fair? Base salary + commission. Product with large margin. Posted: 29 Sep 2020 08:56 AM PDT Hi all, Some background. I work for a start-up with 20 employees. I was originally hired as an applications/customer success/account management/sales support engineer. When hired (8 months ago), I agreed to a base salary of $120,000 with no agreement on bonus' or sales support commission (oops). Company information: 2019 Revenue: 10 million 2020 sales pipe line: 6 million COGS: $3,500 Sale Price: $40,000 I have found myself juggling multiple responsibilities. I work very close with the sales representatives and handle the majority of their sales processes. Especially the time consuming ones (demo, customer evaluation, customer part inspection, pre-sales, post-sales). Every sale in the company goes through me... post-sale, the account also goes to me, and me alone (only person in this position). Recently my company suggested I also begin working as a sales representative. Good news for me, I would like to work in sales. I was offered 1% sales commission on products sold to exiting customers (I think this is their idea of a sales support commission) and 2% commission on product sold to new prospects. No commission for aiding the sales reps with their prospects (not very conventional and most time consuming). Personally, I think the current sales reps are making a much higher commission, especially considering the margin of our product. Any advice? I am having a hard time finding time to work on my own sales objectives with all my existing responsibilities regarding sales support. I would assume that I could sell maybe 15-17 units per year. Should I re-negotiate a sales support commission and focus on this? What would you expect commission to be for a sales rep at my company? [link] [comments] |
SAAS Questions about identifying main target to contact and also about penetrating to decision maker Posted: 29 Sep 2020 08:31 AM PDT I have a presentation coming up tomorrow with a company I'd love to work for and if it goes well I think I will get an offer. The company sells a service that deals with PDF/Document accessibility and Remediation, basically making sure that any companies documents are PDF/UA, Section 508, WCGAG compliant. My last interview was with the COO and he mentioned some info that would be helpful to these questions but I kinda spaced on what he told me unfortunately. Two questions:
If it helps here is the guidance from the email in regards to setting up the presentation: Recommendation: Be precise how to identify the target contact, how would you penetrate to get to the decision maker and close the deal Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated, thanks! How do you rank your customers/prospects? Posted: 29 Sep 2020 11:45 AM PDT I was wondering how the users of r/sales segment their customers. What criteria do you use for an A vs a B account? Does likelihood to buy from you adjust rank regardless of total likelihood to buy? Do you have any small accounts that get an A or S ranking because they buy from you? Does geography come into play? i.e. large target account, but location prevents you from visiting other customers that day? What percentage of accounts do you have in each tier? Do you even rank? Other criteria you use not mentioned above. [link] [comments] |
Should I stick with this job, or get out now? Posted: 29 Sep 2020 07:46 AM PDT I just started a job that I found on LinkedIn. It's a sales and marketing firm that was very Vague on what they did exactly until my second interview. Basically the reason for that is because, my job consists of me going to Walmart's, and trying to sell cable to people. The thing about it is, although it's not glamours it's really not that bad, and the guy who is training me is actually really cool so it's not bad. I'm getting better at the selling aspect, and even though I haven't made a sale yet, three days in I have noticed people seem more interested in talking to me. So to the reason I'm having thoughts about quitting is, because I've done my research, and from what I've heard these kind of companies are unethical, and don't treat there customers right. I would like to say though that i didn't apply, so they didn't recruit me, I'm not paying anything to do it, and I'm not being told to recruit anyone. Also I'm not harassing people and being pushy or pressuring anyone, if they say they aren't interested I simply ask who they have for cable if they keep walking, or say no thanks, I say have a good day. So basically what I'm saying is if the pay is good, and I like my bosses and co workers. Should I still leave, because these kind of business or known to be shady? Or should I give it a shot, and see how it goes for a few months? [link] [comments] |

What should be the long-term goals for a developing SDR team? Posted: 29 Sep 2020 11:05 AM PDT I'm finding a lot of material on how to improve the efficiency of an SDR team and how to best train SDRs in sales skills, but was wondering if there were any other long term goals to consider for an SDR Team? Has anyone attempted to do cold outreach through by messaging a user's reddit DMs? Posted: 29 Sep 2020 10:26 AM PDT I do some work for a B2B company and theres a subreddit that obviously has a lot of people in our target market. Made me wonder how cold outreach conversion rates would look like if you simply focused on outreach to reddit users. Has anyone had experience with that? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 29 Sep 2020 09:03 AM PDT Long time lurker first time poster, I recently graduated from an undergrad and I have started working full time for a Managed SAAS company in Toronto and I am just not getting enough practice on the phones. I know it can be a numbers game and as I call more I will get more comfortable but I could really use someone with experience to run mock cold calls and product demos with so that I can find my voice and get consistent feedback. Otherwise, any advice/ resources that I should consume are all welcome. [link] [comments] |
Should I take it? plus i need some other advice Posted: 29 Sep 2020 08:24 AM PDT Sooo I lost my job due to covid and all. Was 5 years into an Account manager position. It was CAKE, super easy, literally no micromanaging (it was a small company). Sold pretty well there. Anyway, I need work and have been putting hella applications in. I finally started getting some call backs but mostly from less than reputable companies with bad reviews and high turnover rates. I don't really have experience doing anything else and I don't even really like sales. Nevertheless I've had two interviews for this particular company and I got an offer today. The company had many clients that outsource their sales team to them, and they've got around 30 clients right now. I'm not super sure of the structure of the training but it sounds like its only a few days. It would be for a company that is selling some kind of "reward" program that can be implemented into mobile games. I would be dealing directly with publishers of these games. The minimum target is 7 accounts a month with 10 being the actual target. Base pay is 42ish which is about what I was making before, with "typical" commissions it would come out to about 50, which is livable for me. I have a few other interviews lined up this week but he needs an answer by the absolute latest Thursday, and I kinda had to squeeze that out of him. I worry that the target is a little high, does anyone have experience in this field? Is it possible to actually close that many consistently? I'm also not super fond of being in a "meet your target or your fired" kinda situation. [link] [comments] |
