The Stock Market Phenomenon That New Investors Should Know Posted: 09 Aug 2020 11:36 AM PDT You're thinking about buying but the price just keeps going up and up so you're waiting for a pull back but it doesn't happen.
For some reason the market goes against your decisions. It's taunting and laughing at you. It's chosen you specifically and while Yahoo convos question "I don't get it—why is this stock down today?" you know why. Always buy, hold, stop looking at it every second, and stop making Reddit threads when you're down 2%. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 09 Aug 2020 05:16 AM PDT Netflix stock fell sharply down after earnings as it failed to reach market expectations. As of writing the stock is currently valued at $494. I have read that Netflix stock could see a surge to at least the $510 mark, if not greater, and I was wondering if this would be a good time to buy Netflix stock and if anyone else is considering it. Personal opinion on best online courses Posted: 09 Aug 2020 08:15 AM PDT Hi guys I would like some recommendations from people that took online courses to learn more about the financial market and their opinion on the courses. I researched and a lot of people suggests learning from investopedia, udemy, or TDAmeritrade, however there are a lot of courses and information on those platforms and I don't know quite exactly where to start. I would appreciate if someone could send me in the direction. I'm open to other ways of learning too ex. youtube, books, etc. [link] [comments] |
Simon Property Group ( SPG) and Amazon ( AMZN) talking about a deal! Posted: 09 Aug 2020 11:52 AM PDT Amazon and Simon Property Group in talks! You think SPG will take off now? Amazon and Mall Operator Look at Turning Sears, J.C. Penney Stores Into Fulfillment Centers [link] [comments] |
Bill Gates buys more stock of Signature Aviation Posted: 09 Aug 2020 04:48 AM PDT If Bill Gates is pumping more money in to these shares then maybe this is one company to keep an eye on. At £2.49 a share it's cheap to get in early and hold for the long haul maybe. [link] [comments] |
Investing in Brazil stocks in US? Posted: 09 Aug 2020 06:50 AM PDT I have about 10K of house money left from the last trade. I wiold like to take an advantage of Brazilian market at the moment and park the money there for 2-3 years. I know there is Itau, Bradesco and petrobas. Do you know any other stock or the way to invest in them? [link] [comments] |
BLDP- 1,000% 5 year return Can anyone explain it? Are hydrogen fuel cells the future? Posted: 09 Aug 2020 11:37 AM PDT BLDP: look at the growth over the past 5 years. To my best understanding, this Canadian company makes electric powertrains for mostly commercial applications and they recently secured a large contract with China for their buses. There is also quite a bit of short interest in the stock which concerns me, but in terms of fundamentals and long term prospects for the company, how does everyone feel about them? Anyone invested in BLDP or know anything more about the company? I own 1,000 shares and plan to hold. Am considering buying more. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 09 Aug 2020 07:46 AM PDT $ICLN is an ETF for clean energy, and I believe this to be a very promising sector and would love to buy in, but the technicals worry me. Posted: 09 Aug 2020 11:35 AM PDT Thankfully, since I just started my career and am new to investing, the miss in gains is in the tens of thousands and not hundreds of thousands or millions, but definitely, this was a huge lesson learned. Never sell long term holdings. Ever. I became too impatient with holding index funds, so the FOMO from watching traders make the same amount of gains in a matter of weeks as what I earn off my long term holdings in 2 years persuaded me to jump into trading. I wanted to swing trade my entire portfolio on tech, cruiselines, airlines, pharm, from stocks or options, joined Discord and other trading courses, but never pulled myself through to do that after being setback from trading losses. Now I'm just sitting on 80% cash and I am hesitant on what to do. DCAing back into index funds is prob the best decision. But given that the election is in 90 days, and the market is at ATH which is good for Trump but bad for Dems, I wanted to wait till after the election to buy back into long term holdings, and hopefully make some good tendies in the next few months of trading. What do you think? [link] [comments] |
Is a cloud sector rotation underway Posted: 09 Aug 2020 09:53 AM PDT Cloud stock valuations are getting pretty high - similar to last summer. Some of the big winners of this year - fastly, datadog, alteryx got hammered last week after earnings release. Any cloud investors think it would be a prudent time to lock in gains? Or is this just another buy the dip moment? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 09 Aug 2020 01:47 PM PDT What's a split? I'm looking into buying a share with Apple. However, I am not sure on the terms of what "split" means. Right now a share is $430. Can someone help. I'm new to this stuff. [link] [comments] |
Parking $3000 into a High Dividend ETF (HDLV/ USDV) Posted: 09 Aug 2020 12:14 PM PDT I have $3000 sitting around doing absolutely nothing, I already have ~$10k invested in growth and balue stocks. Any thoughts on HDLV/ HDLG OR UKDV/USDV [link] [comments] |
What are your favorite small-cap stocks (market cap of <$2B) with large-cap potential. Posted: 09 Aug 2020 11:20 AM PDT Please no meme stocks (AMD, SPCE, DKNG, PRPL, etc.). Give a short explanation as to why you think that stock is the future and the current challenges it faces. Serious replies only. [link] [comments] |
Baby formula / diaper stocks long term Posted: 09 Aug 2020 08:36 AM PDT I've been think there could be a possible baby boom after the pandemic subsides and everything normalises by late 2021. Similar to ww2's baby boom. What do you guys think? [link] [comments] |

How to be more calculated and assured Posted: 09 Aug 2020 01:45 PM PDT I'm hoping some of you can share a bit of advice for a novice. Be brutal. If you think I'm not cut out, let me know. I want to learn, but hopefully not lose too much in the process! I got on to Revolut a couple of months ago. Bought Delta, SW and MGM thinking they'll go back up after coronavirus. Obviously things have gotten a little worse in the US and those stocks kept dropping. Got impatient, sold and lost money. My next venture... Virgin Galactic. Initially bought in around $15, they went up, got excited, continued to plow money in, buying again at$21- $24. Pinned all my hopes on their quarterly earnings thinking they would hit $30... Didn't happen, panicked and sold, again losing more money. What I've learnt is I'm buying stocks without any consideration for the price. My thinking is always "buy quick before they go up, in a few months time they'll be worth more, so I don't want to miss out". This is obviously a laughable approach. My latest venture is Nio. It's the only stock I own at the minute. Bought in multiple times at $13.37 – $14.07. Again absolutely no consideration for an entry point. I'm not so much interested in making a quick buck, my strategy is long term. Ideally I want to have 3-4 stocks that I invest in each month. Then at the end of the year, I take a bit of money out. My problem is, I keep chopping and changing. I don't know what companies to pick. I have no problem doing the research, I've got a genuine interest in this stuff, I really like AMD, SPCE, NET, GPS, ATVI, PINS and a bunch of others on my watchlist. But because I'm not investing loads of money, when I see stocks $40+ I'm put off because I think I won't make much of a return. Is it best to put money aside for investing, but then set price targets for the stocks I like, and then buy in? I'm completely aware that I'm impulsive and if you haven't already gathered I come from a gambling background. I've certainly learnt, stocks and gambling are way way different. Any kind of advice/strategy you could share would be much appreciated. Is NIO a safe bet!? Thanks, Jason [link] [comments] |
Posted: 09 Aug 2020 01:34 PM PDT Hi, I've been looking at Intel Stock and it seems to have such nice market price. I've compared the financial health of this company with AMD and it seems to have great advantage. What are you thoughts about this stock? Best Regards [link] [comments] |
Posted: 09 Aug 2020 09:38 AM PDT They've been on my watchlist for a while and they have been climbing, but that could just be from the 87% profit margin from last year report. Do y'all think option calls for the end of the month will be worth it? Such as it possibly hitting $220+ That would be close to it's all time high [link] [comments] |
Silver traders, what are your expectations? Posted: 09 Aug 2020 01:20 PM PDT Gentleman, i've been reading a lot of articles the last days about silver/goldmine trading at this moment. Is anyone here kinda familiar with it? And would you advice to buy mining stocks atm? Small mines or welle estabilished mines? Shoot! [link] [comments] |
Podcast on stocks/investment : KPP vs Motley Fool Posted: 09 Aug 2020 09:25 AM PDT Any recommendations? I subscribed to several "motley fools" shows that seem to be pretty descent , and they rarely plug their paid service on those shows, unlike the other podcast that I used to listen to but had stopped recently , Known as "invest talk" by KPP financial It felt ok at the first , but after a while i found it kinda of useless and full of fillers, it's basically 3 things - plug their membership/service and products from their sponsors - answer callers' questions about individual stocks that were mostly repetitive - sometimes you hear questions about the same stock almost every week sometimes a couple of times a week - most important, the information they provide has been pretty repetitive and often turned out to be a miss : I remember a couple of months ago someone called about wayfair , when it was around $180/share, and the host recommended shorting - and this stock is over $300 ... and there are more examples on quite a few high profile stocks that they were recommending shorting and now much higher ... Full disclosure, I didn't buy/sell anything discussed on its show , but I did put some of them on my watchlist - and so far most of them have been the opposite of what they had predicted , except for things related to gold Motley's shows, on the other hand, have different topics from broad industries to individual stocks very very little fillers and plugs, no repetitive caller questions, and I find them much more informative and in depth I also recently subscribed to some podcast from seeking alpha, but they don't seem to update as often and I haven't listened enough shows to form an opinion [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Aug 2020 09:50 PM PDT New to dividends, looking for some research fodder. google just gives me various top x dividend stock lists, but im curious to see a list of the highest paying dividends available, something with a 100+ long list table would be perfect, live or regular updating preferred I realize the flaw with such a thing might be that I get a list of super high paying companies that are risky as all hell or flat out obvious scam companies or something, so maybe there should be a little bit of filter? idk you tell me also I know i've seen this on various platforms but I cant pinpoint which ones; where can I see a historical chart of a stocks dividend payouts, preferably from year 1 to present?
