Got Turned Down by Geico for a Claims Adjuster job, should i keep applying? Posted: 03 Sep 2019 03:00 PM PDT Was told by some current and former Geico Adjusters that their company is one of the easiest to get into, entry level. I was turned down for 2 different adjuster trainee positions. I have applied at Bristol West and Farmers for jobs, but no word back yet. 5 years customer service experience, army vet with medical background, 4 months in working for a rental company handling claims and i just really enjoy the adjusting side of it (im a freak for deciphering policy language and i love hearing the juicy details of accidents/how things happened). No college right now. Should i keep trying or stick it out where i am a little longer and try again in a year? The pay at my current job in relation to the offered pay for adjusters in my area is a $20k~ a year difference not including bonuses, which i don't get at my current job. I'm located in Northern Colorado about an hour or so away from Denver. Thanks for any and all advice! [link] [comments] |
How can one claim for taxi expenses when public transport is out of service? Posted: 04 Sep 2019 02:20 AM PDT Hi, I've got a doubt about travel insurances and I wonder if you guys know. I was going today to work in London and when I check my Underground app I saw the message:
We've got a flight schedule for next week and I was wondering, if this happens on the day, can I just book a taxi instead (which I guess would be around £80-£100) and claim that to our travel insurance? And if that'd be ok, is there anything I need to do to be able to make a successful claim? ie, these stations are unattended, so there's no staff there to ask for a proof or anything, and the only thing I can think of is to take a screenshot of the status on my mobile? but not sure if that'd be enough for an insurance company... Rear end collision, total loss, minor injury Posted: 03 Sep 2019 03:41 PM PDT I was rear ended on the freeway this past Sunday. The police officer found the other person at fault and issued them a citation. I'm fairly certain it'll be a total loss as the trunk was completely crushed and the car is older and has low value anyway. The passenger and I have both had stiff necks/backs, and were advised to go to urgent care just to get it checked out and have it on record. I'm just wondering if there's anything I should be considering? It seems pretty straightforward to me. Also, I've had friends and family advise me to try to get as much as I can for personal injury just in case I end up with more severe injuries later on? Is this true? Or will they pay my medical bills later if something comes up? Would I even get offered anything seeing as were only stiff? (I'm assuming nothing will come out of the doctor visit). Advice for an agent that may relocate? Posted: 03 Sep 2019 04:31 PM PDT I may be relocating to another state, which is about 700 miles away from my current state to be closer to my wife's family. I've only been an agent about 6 years, selling mainly p and c, life and a little commercial (principal agent handles most commercial accounts). We have been successful in our small agency. Myself and the principal agent write and service most of the business, we have only recently gotten a CSR. I have been thinking what an advantage it is to have been born, raised, and living in the area you serve and am nervous and intimidated to transfer myself to another state where I don't know all the back roads, people, families, businesses etc. I am wondering if there are any agents or insurance industry folks here that have gone through this and if you can offer any advice. I do have the ability to network somewhat in the area, as we visit once or twice a year. Where I work now is an independent agency, but our "flag ship" company we represent also operates in the other state. Would it be odd to pop in to a few agencies and introduce myself? Is there any other advice on this that you have learned from experience? I don't think this is something that can realistically happen for another 1-3 years but am the type that likes to prepare, plan and work towards a goal.Thank you. [link] [comments] |
Should I use my comprehensive insurance on a car I am planning on selling in the next month? Posted: 03 Sep 2019 08:07 PM PDT So I have a 2006 Ford Escape that has 150,000 miles. The devise that raises and lowers my driver side window is busted; thus, my driver side window is busted too. So I've been driving without a driver side window. My insurance is willing to cover all repair costs minus a $100 deductible. According to the provider, my insurance will not go up next year if I choose to repair the vehicle. The total estimated cost to repair both the devise and window is ~$750. I am planning on replacing my car within the next month. Should I repair my vehicle with the insurance money and sell it or should I should I just sell my vehicle as is without using insurance? [link] [comments] |
Georgia Health Insurance - Medicaid and ACA Questions Posted: 03 Sep 2019 07:03 PM PDT My mother (62, f) has been living in California for years and currently has Medi-cal. However, she has been having some health issues, which may necessitate having my father (64, m), who lives in Georgia with me to care for her. However, my mother's landlord will not allow another person to live with her. Her rent is currently at $400/month in SF Bay Area. If she ends up moving to accommodate my father, the cheapest option is to rent a room for at least $700/month, which she cannot afford. If she ends up moving to Georgia, she won't qualify for Medicaid since she's only 62 years old. In GA, adults with no dependent children do not qualify for Medicaid, unless you're blind, disabled, or over 65. There is also the healthcare.govoption, but she may be unable to work due to her health so she may not meet the $16k annual income. QUESTIONS: -If my parents do not meet this min. income ($16k/year), does that mean she cannot qualify for Obamacare? -I ran some numbers and assumed they make a combined income of $16k this year, healthcare.gov showed the premium will be $1 for Bronze plan, but fine print states it would cost at least $1600 before subsidies for her and my dad every month. If she ended up getting a job and making at least $16k, does it mean they will still need to be come up with $1600/month, then at the end of the year, they will get some money back or are they actually just going to pay $1/month for premium? -Does anyone have experience with Medicaid application in GA? My dad is turning 65 next year and just moved to GA recently. He has no income and will need insurance coverage in GA soon. -Regarding Medicaid, will my dad get a refusal because he lives with me and I pay for his other expenses? The only reason we are considering applying for Medicaid is for health coverage. I can take care of his housing and food. Unfortunately, I cannot pay for his health insurance, because it will easily cost at least $900/month. -If you were in my shoes, would you just have your parents stay in California where they have good medical coverage, but they will need to come up with $800/month and far away from you OR have them move to GA with no health coverage and get into medical debts? They have no property or assets and have no plans of getting any loan, so credit score does not matter to them that much. I greatly appreciate all your feedback and thoughts. [link] [comments] |
100% at fault when my car was not in motion Posted: 03 Sep 2019 06:55 PM PDT My husband and I were in an accident where both parties were backing out of parking spaces. As we were backing out of the space our back up sensor started beeping slowly so we stopped, 3 seconds later and In my view of the passenger side mirror the other car bumped into our back bumper. My husband got out of the car to speak with the other driver and she said she did not see us, and we weren't there, and started ranting and raving about my husband lying, She called her husband to come to the accident and he did the rest of the conversing, we also had a cop come and he said 50/50 at fault, we exchanged information with the other party and agreed that the damage was minimal, just minor paint scrapes on both cars. A few days go by and we get a call from USAA, asking for our side of the story. We tell them what happened and send them pictures of the accident, mind you in the pictures we had pulled our truck forward partially back into the space because we were in a busy parking lot. We get a call a few says later saying that we are 100% at fault, based on the pictures provided. We are in Phoenix Arizona and both have USAA insurance, what is my recourse if any ? Flying debris, who is at fault? Posted: 03 Sep 2019 01:54 PM PDT I was near an accident where a motorcycle hit a guard rail next to me. Debris from the accident hit the side of my car and caused damage. After reporting this to my insurance the initial response was that the other driver is not at fault. I will be going to see an adjuster tomorrow. I'm just curious, is this correct? [link] [comments] |
Hit and run, runner won't make contact with insurer Posted: 03 Sep 2019 06:38 AM PDT I was involved in a hit and run a few months ago. My insurance has been helping pressure the other drivers insurance for the claim however they are unable to get a response from the driver. Is there a reasonable amount of time before the drivers insurance will accept fault without the driver contacting them, or will they just drag it out? My insurance has also sent the driver a nice legal letter about what will happen if they don't cooperate. At this point the drivers insurance seems uncaring about the situation so I was wondering if I should just let mine take the reins and proceed with legal suit against the driver to get my deductible back, or do I need to step up the squeaky wheel routine with the driver's insurance to push this forward? Thanks for the help. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Sep 2019 04:34 PM PDT I was in the middle of a leisurely ride with a small group of motorcyclists, and got rear-ended by somebody in the group behind me. 100% their fault, they admitted to it immediately - had a lapse of attention or something. Both bikes went down and slid a few feet - no injuries - only very minor cosmetic damage, and we both were able to ride home without issues. I don't know the person who hit me on a personal level, but they were very apologetic and were very transparent with getting my damages fixed under their insurance. I'm getting a damage appraisal at a local dealership very soon, but I'm afraid that the damages might approach the value of the bike if doing everything "by the book". The damage is mostly just scratches, but they are on multiple parts (multiple side plastics, engine case, exhaust, levers, slightly bent handlebar, inner fairing, etc). This stuff adds up very fast especially if you include labor on some hard-to-replace parts ($$$). If I crashed my own bike, I sure as heck wouldn't replace most of these parts; probably just get touch-up paint and live with the rest of the damage. But if I wanted to sell the bike in the future, this damage would be obvious on close inspection and make the bike worth a decent amount less. But I also understand that shit happens, and that if I was in his shoes, I wouldn't like a fellow motorcyclist collecting all possible damages at my expense. To me, some damage can be forgivable. Since the claim is already filed under their insurance, how much does claim amount impact their future premiums? Hypothetically let's say, a claim amount of $500 versus $3000. Would collecting damages "by the book" increase his future premiums more than a claim that I would be roughly content with (replacing only parts with major damage)? Or are these amounts laughably minuscule in the world of insurance claims and would have the same impact on his future premiums? Thanks!! [link] [comments] |
Client suffering from paranoia Posted: 03 Sep 2019 09:45 AM PDT I just got a call from a client who is clearly suffering from some sort of mental illness. He was perfectly normal when I first spoke to him ~12 months ago. He called today to say that his home and vehicle were broken into and they installed wire taps and a surveillance system. He wouldn't say too much because "they are listening to us right now." I asked if there was any damage or missing items and he said only his food had gone missing. This man is 70 years old and just retired within the last 6 months. Do I call the police to check on him? Florida btw. [link] [comments] |
Minor accident, cost increase? Posted: 03 Sep 2019 12:51 PM PDT I'm 18 years old, clean record so far. Accidentally bumped into someones car in a parking lot, scuffed the rear bumper (1/4 paint mark) and some screws look loose. I've yet to contact the student (have to go through the school to get their information to contact them) and I'm not sure it'll even be an issue, but if it is, what would the estimated cost be, both out of pocket or using my insurance. If I use my insurance, how much would my rate go up? The car is a newer looking Ford, the damage is very minor. I know this might not be enough information, but anything helps. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Sep 2019 12:07 PM PDT anyone use kemper auto insurance and can talk about how they are to deal with in regards to claims? They are a lot cheaper than what I currently have with better coverage too [link] [comments] |
Can anyone advise me about my roofing claim? [Williamson County, TN] Posted: 03 Sep 2019 12:00 PM PDT We had several big storms recently with high winds. We had a roofer out to inspect, and he said that we needed a new roof, and that insurance would surely pay for it as there was a lot of wind damage. We filed a claim, and the initial inspector came out and inspected. He said there were 7 damaged shingles. They offered us $600. We appealed, so they sent an adjuster out. He went over the roof and said that there were more than 100 damaged shingles. They have now offered us $3600. The roofer says I should appeal this. He says that with this much damage, insurance should be replacing, not repairing. He says that the insurance company is just playing "the game" with us, trying to pay out as little as possible. So, what should I do from here? Who do I appeal to? Who should I be calling at the insurance company to push for them to pay for replacement rather than repair? I'm a bit out of my depth, and could use some advice. [link] [comments] |

TN free insurance won’t pay for wisdom tooth removal Posted: 03 Sep 2019 08:43 AM PDT i have the free insurance for tennessee residents under age 21. i've been told by my dentist plus specialist that my wisdom teeth are impacted, will grow in wrong, need to be removed because it caused pain, cause future problems, and will mess up my teeth and need to be removed. my specialist dentist asked for all 4 to be removed and 2/4 have broke through the gums. the surgery's been denied and appeals denied 2x now and they're reasoning is: 1- because my doctors are asking for anesthesia, 2- i must have severe pain in my tooth (i do, gave this as one reason in my appeal), 3- tooth has to be in a position that won't let it break through the gum 4- my gums or bone around tooth are diseased. is there anything i can do to get this approved? i had my dentist help file the appeal and my specialist filed one theirselves. both were denied because my xrays apparently don't prove i need it done although both dentists said it should be done and it should qualify.
