Help with starting my own business Posted: 30 Aug 2020 11:05 PM PDT Hi guys, first time poster. So I just thought I'd see if there is anyone in here that can give me some tips on how to start my own business? I have a few ideas I would like to do, just have to narrow it down to what I truely want in life/work. But once I do decide what I would like to do, I have a few problems. The problems are the following: I have a mortgage I am paying on my own (I can do this at the moment because my job pays well) and heaps of bills, which is what I worry about. I'm worried about starting up a business but not having any money to pay for my big mortgage and other bills. Usually people have a partner that can cover these outgoings, unfortunately this isn't the case for me. Can anyone give me any tips? I know it's a long shot but thought I'd give it a try. Posted: 31 Aug 2020 01:41 AM PDT I recently heard someone talking about how anyone who runs a business, can get things for cheap only because they have a company. If they just buy a product with the name of a company, they can get insane returns! I heard that this friend of mine based in India got a $5000 dollar PC equivalent of Indian rupees for around $2500 again equivalent on Indian rupees, cuz his dad has a business and he used stuff like depreciation and gst claim to get it for cheap. Can you tell me how this works or atleast an idea of how much cheaper things can get? [link] [comments] |

I'm trying to figure out how to legally run my online store and i'm stressed out, help? Posted: 30 Aug 2020 03:13 PM PDT I have been researching like crazy, for about a six months and I must be stupid or something because I just can not wrap my head around all the rules and laws, i'm so freaking confused, I don't even know where to start. For some background, i'll be launching my website soon, I have the domain, the website is built, I have all my supplies and inventory( lol the easy stuff), it is an apparel store (shirts, hoodies, some accessories like pouches, mouse pads, mugs, etc) But when it come to the legalities I am so stressed. I will be operating as a sole proprietor ship (in NY state if that matters). I know I have to apply for my DBA. But do I need an EIN to collect sales tax? Do I need a business license? What else do I need to even know? I went on swiftyfilings to see if they could help me figure out what information i need to know and to help me obtain all the legal paperwork i need but this price seems a bit high. Is it reasonable? Do I need all these things? Any help at all is appreciated! Also as a sole proprietor, do I still have to file taxes quarterly? [link] [comments] |
Question About Starting an Arab-based Grocery + (possibly) Cafe type business Posted: 30 Aug 2020 05:23 PM PDT What are the best steps to take when getting started? I already know about finding the optimal spot and I've already went to an Arabs in my state Facebook group and most have told me about an area full of Arabs that lacks this type of store. What steps should I take next beyond actually starting? I.E. what're the best strategies to advertise? Should I start hiring people right away or work with my family when starting out? What things should I focus on the most when budgeting? Etc. If anyone has any experience in this field or just generally knows the best strategies, it would be great if you could leave a comment. Also if you know any videos or places that specialize in helping people in my situation, be sure to tell me about them as well! Thank you so much guys! [link] [comments] |

Posted: 30 Aug 2020 01:38 PM PDT Hello everyone I am planning on purchasing a domain from GoDaddy. I plan on just purchasing the domain name and not choosing any of the plans they offer (starter, essential, e-commerce). The question lies in which of the privacy and protection plans should I get, if any. I feel like getting the ultimate domain protection & security plan will offer the most protection for the domain and I would assume for any potential customers. However, with the business and the website itself, everything is brand new and practically just starting up so I'm not sure if it's worth purchasing the more expensive plan for now if I don't really need it. Also once more thing I can still transfer my domain to Shopify once I have purchased it, and all the protection features that I got from the plan will be in place? thank you! [link] [comments] |

Need tips and your opinion on my "business" idea. Posted: 30 Aug 2020 11:01 AM PDT I'm 18 and I know how to make websites so I was wondering how to use that knowledge so I came up with an idea to go around my local businesses (most of which don't have a website) and offering to make them one for cheap. I'm not sure if this approach to finding customers will work but I'm willing to try. Any tips? Your opinion is valuable to me, Thank you. [link] [comments] |
Repeat offer: Free logo design Posted: 30 Aug 2020 04:09 PM PDT Hey folks, A couple months ago my son (via me) offered to design logos for people free of charge. Many people took him up on it (if any of you see this please chime in!), got a free logo and he gained experience. He's given me the green light to offer this again. Same idea: A free logo for your project, company or organization. As his dad, my ask of you is to respect his time -- if he is making a logo for you, please make sure to keep up your end of the conversation (replies, etc). If you're interested, you could email him directly at rNOSPAMdragushan@gmail.com (<-- remove "NOSPAM") Cheers! Edit: phrasing, obfuscating email [link] [comments] |
