Anyone else really struggling atm Posted: 04 Aug 2020 08:32 AM PDT I know that ya'll internet sales superstars are crushing it at the moment, but are there any of you that are really struggling? I started a new job 6 months ago, still struggling to close my first deal, my existing clients are canceling left and right due to COVID that has decimated their industry (I work with oil&gas quite a bit). No way of hitting target and probably a PIP candidate in a couple of months. Anyway, let's commiserate a lil'. [link] [comments] |
UPDATE: I’m sending a pizza party to a big customer of mine who has been ghosting me for 45 days Posted: 03 Aug 2020 01:37 PM PDT The pizza party was a success! It brought in a huge sale for the company and easily a great way to start the month. I should also be getting additional revenue from them Wednesday I highly recommend sending pizza parties as needed. I'm very stoked on the fact that a $50 investment gave me my best day in company history. YOLO BOIS Edit: $50 investment netted $7k for the company so far. [link] [comments] |
Staying motivated as an SDR working from home Posted: 04 Aug 2020 07:34 AM PDT Hey guys. First post here, new to professional sales, and need some advice. I started as an SDR back in May, and because of COVID, I've been working from home every day. I have a separate office set up in my apartment, a nice computer/monitor layout, good lighting, etc... but I often struggle with staying motivated throughout the day. Any advice on how to stay focused, motivated, and positive while working from home in a new position? [link] [comments] |
[SaaS] Tips for Moving from SDR to AE Externally Posted: 04 Aug 2020 12:28 PM PDT I have come to the conclusion that I will not be promoted internally to an AE role at my company. What can I do to make myself a desireable candidate for AE roles at other companies aside from hitting quota? It seems like all of these roles want someone with closing experience in the past but I can't exactly get that experience in my position as an SDR. Also, what are some resources that I can seek out to learn or improve skills needed to be a successful AE? To me the SDR and AE roles are completely different and experience in one doesn't exactly transfer directly to the other. [link] [comments] |
What has been your favorite industry & why? Posted: 04 Aug 2020 09:59 AM PDT I'm sure this has been asked but couldn't find it. I've been doing enterprise equipment leasing for about 2 years, very grindy industry with lots of rejection but awesome back ends & commissions. Will be transitioning to an AE with a SaaS company servicing SMB. Really curious though what industry's you guys have works since there's such a diverse range of people here and why you enjoyed that space? Was it the product? The customer base? The sales process? The pay? Etc. [link] [comments] |
Career in medical device sales Posted: 04 Aug 2020 01:00 PM PDT Anyone know much about medical device sales? How lucrative is this, and after getting a job for a few years, how can you start your own business in some form? Is it mostly pairing buyers and sellers, and taking a percent? I have a MS in medical science, which basically mirrors the first year of medical school. No formal business education but incredibly hard working. [link] [comments] |
Food product information package for a sales team? Posted: 04 Aug 2020 12:55 PM PDT Hello All, Short version: I'm looking for some pointers for a food product information package for a sales team Long version: I'm in the food manufacturing business. Recently I was in touch with a food distributor that would introduce my product to chain and local grocery stores. The distributor has asked me to put something together about the product so they can send it to their sales team. I have very little experience as this is my first time dealing with a distributor. Could you give me some pointers of what kind of information would be valuable or enticing to a food distributor sales team? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Aug 2020 12:29 PM PDT I joined a new company 8 weeks ago as an Enterprise RM with sales focus; I'm happy to be working right now. The company is in major transition and I am on my 4th sales manager. The one I have now is 'interim' while they search for someone from outside. There is no training and no direction. I'm lost but forging relationships with my enterprise clients. The interim guy knows more than me, but there are signs he's not well respected in the company and he goes off on dog trails when I ask him for help. Any advice from enterprise RM's on how I can win in this? Or at least not lose? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Aug 2020 12:24 PM PDT Hi, I'm an IV rep. I just accepted this job and have no prior experience in this type of sales . I visited a gastroenterology group and it seems like I'd have to schedule a breakfast/lunch. Each month the referral coordinator sends a group text to about 30 of us to see who wants to schedule something . I never seen this before . Any who she wants me to bring breakfast for 22 people and all food need to be individually wrapped . I have no idea what to bring plus I haven't gotten an referrals from this office . A part of me want to politely decline , but not sure what to say or if that is even the right move . Ughhh [link] [comments] |
Getting really fed up with my sales job Posted: 04 Aug 2020 12:04 PM PDT I was top agent.. they restructured our commissions that only affects top 10% in long run.. Taking roughly 1-3 k hit a month with new structure. Feels like I'm getting more and more non sales calls routed to me. We are talking people who already have been sold and need tech, or just billing questions. We have a high call abandonment rate and as far as I know.. no other department .. customer service or tech has had reduction on their pay and are still hiring like crazy .. Idk what I'm asking from this sub.. maybe a arm around the shoulder and positive words or just thoughts on what my business is doing .. It feels like we are being shoe-horned into a customer service role.. especially since they took close rate out as a metric which determines performance and rank for scheduling. I love to sell. I don't mind being told no. I just want to be funneled actual sales calls that make sense for my department. Help. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Aug 2020 11:44 AM PDT I'm not sure if this is the right place for this, but I've had this sneaking suspicion that suddenly calls from my phone are being answered much less than usual. A little background: at my inside sales job we call leads acquired from a door to door guys. These are leads that people give us permission to call and so they usually are pretty reliable in answering when I reach out. My phone number is my own and only I call from it, it was never before used as an autodialer. My manager decided to change the dialer number to my direct lines phone number. I'm worried that by using the dialer on my number for over a month, that calls from me on my desk phone are being flagged as potential spam or being outright blocked by people with different spam blocker apps. I've seen a sharp drop off of contact. My managers seem to think it's a combo is pandemic (very probable) and my diminished dedication (negative), but I can't help but feel it's that I'm just not getting to speak with the same percentage of the new leads as I used to. Even the new guy we just hired is getting a lot more contact, and I know for a fact that his phone line was never used on the dialer. Does anyone know if this is in fact a possibility? Because if so I want to ask for a brand new phone line to call from that will never be used for the dialer. tl;dr: boss started using my desk phone as the auto dialers phone number for a month and now I believe my regular calls are being blocked more frequently ever since. Could this be possible? [link] [comments] |
I made a discord for any entrepreneurs who want to network with each other Posted: 04 Aug 2020 11:42 AM PDT Hi everyone, So I just made a discord for fellow entrepreneurs to chat and network with each other. I think it's important for people to get to communicate with others who are in the same field and bounce ideas off of each other. Sales in the UK during coronavirus? Posted: 04 Aug 2020 05:35 AM PDT Wondering how sales people in the UK are doing during coronavirus. I do cold calling from 9-5 trying to arrange meetings and am struggling to get through to people. I often get told that the people I'm looking for are working remotely still. How are you all finding it? [link] [comments] |
Best headphones for sales calls Posted: 04 Aug 2020 11:24 AM PDT Are you tired of hearing: "I'm sorry, you're breaking up , could you repeat that?" on your sales calls? Me too! I've used every headphone made by Apple (including Beats Pro) and have either had call issues from the start, or the things die on me 1 year in. I need a recommendation from someone here who knows of a great in-ear, or over-ear headphone and mic that have supreme sound quality on both sides of the call. Anyone got a lead here? I'm able to schedule meetings, but having trouble getting any sales? Any help appreciated Posted: 04 Aug 2020 07:24 AM PDT Good morning reddit community, I'm in desperate need of help, and all help will be greatly appreciated. I work in pharmaceutical sales and I sell immune globulin. So much of my meetings deal with talking to nurses and doctors, however, I have a very tough time making any sales. I am able to schedule meetings and lunches pretty easily, since I'm sure any clinic is going to enjoy a free lunch, but from there I can't seem to make any sales at all. I try to make it less of a sales pitch and more of a "get to know you" type of deal but I just don't know what to ask or personal questions to build that bond. Obviously the elephant in the room is how are you doing during covid, where are you from, what got you started in (specified field) etc, but from there it's just like pulling teeth. They either can't carry a conversation or just don't seem interested in carrying one so I just transition it to the sales pitch. They always tell me "ill keep you in mind next time we need xyz" and of course never get a sales. Is there anything you think I could do that would significantly increase my chances? I have a boss but he has never trained me how to go about these meetings, he just threw me out to the wolves per say, and I've tried watching youtube videos but find it hard finding a sales video explaining how to be personable. Literally any advice or suggestion or criticism will be more Advice/Help I've received since day 1. So please share! EDIT: I know I'm able to do this and I feel confident in my ability to do this. I was able to secure business from the largest consumer in the country of my product, so it proves I'm doing at least SOMETHING right. But the people I met with were actually very outgoing and very easy to talk to. [link] [comments] |
Is it fair to say that most people on this planet, say 80%, hate salespeople? Posted: 04 Aug 2020 02:25 AM PDT Guys, I'm working on a small project that might help salespeople (specifically in life/health insurance industry) and I really need your help answering these questions: A) Is it fair to say that most people on this planet, say 80%, hate salespeople? For example: My mother and wife hate salespeople (at least they agreed on something!). They decline every offer no matter what, politely of course. They said that salespeople are not trustworthy because they are almost always trying to sell you something. B) Is it true that even salespeople hate salespeople? Why? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Help Starting Online Music School Posted: 04 Aug 2020 06:35 AM PDT I'm looking to create a website to advertise my music teaching business, MurphCraft Academy. I already have the domain name and a work-in-progress site. Does anybody have any experience building websites that can offer me some advice? I don't have the capital to hire a web developer so I'm trying to get the site up and running by myself. What sorts of pages do I need? Here is some background that may help: The idea is that I can direct people to the site where they can find free music resources (maybe sheet music, tabs, free tips and tricks, pre-recorded video lessons, that kind of thing), as well as information on scheduling lessons/pricing. If someone is interested, they can sign up for monthly lessons (I use PayPal), and the lessons will be done through Zoom, as I've found the latency and audio quality of Zoom to be better than other options. What sort of pages do I need to run a professional business? How do I format the pages on the site if my main income is coming from using Zoom (completely outside of the website)? Anyone with experience offering advice would be greatly appreciated! [link] [comments] |

How to make my calls look local? Cold calling question Posted: 04 Aug 2020 09:51 AM PDT I hyper-target my prospects before cold calling to make sure they are an ideal candidate for my B2B services. (I make 10-20 calls a day) My problem is I call all over the USA and sometimes I don't get an answer "guessing because my number is out of state" So my question is, are there any services where when I call a phone it spoofs my number to look local to them? Or is this kind of thing illegal? I just see it done by telemarketers that call me and I'm wondering how they do it on scale. [link] [comments] |
Tips for convincing people to buy a more expensive product Posted: 04 Aug 2020 08:42 AM PDT Hi, I'm a representative for a company that sells advanced wastewater treatment systems. I'm responsible for introducing our product to a new area. Right now everyone in this area installs a conventional system which costs around $7000 and lasts for 15 to 25 years. I'm struggling to convince potential customers that its more beneficial for them, to spend $12000 to install our system which will last easily 2-3 times longer and provide greater than 10x better treatment. Does anybody have any experience selling a more expensive, but superior product in an area where everybody wants the cheapest thing on the market? Any help or advice would be welcome! How many cold emails should i send per day. Posted: 03 Aug 2020 11:52 PM PDT Hello. A newbie here, i always wanted a job in sales, a week ago i got hired as an international salesman (yay), basically my job is to find emails of retail companies who sell products similar to ours, and send them a cold email with my sales pitch and the products catalog. The problem is that i have no reference to how many emails i should send per day. Also what's the best way to find emails? Because currently i am using the information email that i find in the contact us section, is that good enough or is there are other ways? [link] [comments] |
Where to find hotel leads now? Posted: 04 Aug 2020 06:46 AM PDT Hi guys, I'm a Sales and Marketing for a 4 stars chain hotel, my segment is Corporate focused, given current situation lots of my accounts are WFH. I'm trying to find another source, I honestly open to any ideas, or if you are also working in hospitality, how are you coping with this 0 occupancy time? [link] [comments] |
I can’t seem to schedule outside sales calls if my life depended on it Posted: 03 Aug 2020 09:21 PM PDT I'm currently an intern for a company that primarily does b2b sales. At the beginning of each week I spend the entire day scheduling calls for the following week. I typically have the most dials, never below top three among my 20 person team. I also typically have the worst dial to appointment ratio. 120 dials a 15 appointments is an average stat line for me whereas the MIDDLE guys, not even the seasoned vets will have numbers along the lines of 60 dials and 22 appointments. I'd like to think I'm a pretty charismatic person who knows how to use proper tonality and everything. Here's my current script I use: Hey name, how are you this morning/afternoon?
Well first I just wanna thank you for your business, hows everything been with my company name?
The main reason for my call today name, I'm a small business expert and my focus is to just introduce myself and share some ideas on how company name can help grow your business. Are you available next week? My first objection has to do with customers not picking up or the main decision maker not being available. Next, I have objections due to COVID concerns or customers working from home. Can't do much about those. However, I will eventually face situations where the customer outright declines a meeting. At the end of each week I'll compile a list of no less than 100 customers to call with detailed notes regarding their location to efficiently plan my route, I do my homework in prospecting. Any help would be appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Advice Needed! Sales Engineer Position Posted: 04 Aug 2020 04:58 AM PDT I currently have an opportunity with a local manufactures rep as a sales engineer. The company specializes in HVAC equipment and service dealing with engineering firms, mechanical contractors, and building owners. I have been working as an HVAC engineer and have used this companies services so I have a background with the equipment and industry already. The position is a salary convertible to 100% commission, which was described to me as a nonrecoverable draw to the commission. My friend has been there for about 12 years and has a small ownership stake and told me I can easily double my income (80K) in about 2.5 years. All the accounts are existing so no cold calling just developing existing accounts that the sales staff doesn't have time to get to. The commission is 45% of profit which seems pretty good but they do not reimburse expenses (starting out they give you $500/month for expenses). The majority owner who I had lunch with told me this is your own business and we leave it up to you on how to develop it. This seems like a good opportunity just wanted to get some input from random people on the internet. my questions.
