    I don’t care anymore.

    Posted: 02 Jul 2020 10:24 AM PDT

I don't care about putting in effort over and above what's expected. I don't care about "showing leadership" and taking on more than what's required. I don't care about those midnight "urgent" emails. I don't care about your 20 review notes that add no value to the quality of the working paper. 3 years of this job and I know for certain the efforts are not reciprocated. Therefore, I. Just. Don't. Care. Anymore.

That's my rant, thanks for reading, everyone. Have a wonderful day!

    BDO restores salaries, defers promotions/raises

    Posted: 02 Jul 2020 12:32 PM PDT

Would rather have gotten the promotion, even if the new position came with the 5%-10% paycut that was put in place. I guess if you weren't up for a promotion it doesn't matter, but the fact that they said decisions on promotions/raises would be deferred for at least a couple months is just so discouraging. They're not even technically postponing the actual promotions, they're postponing the decision on whether they will even happen.

Of course money matters, but a huge part of public accounting is moving up the chain in order to advance your career...at the end of the day, the partners fully benefit from this decision while the rest of us are stuck working our asses off. Don't know about other offices/engagements, but COVID has only created more work for my office and the engagements I've been on. Working from home has only resulted in working more hours, and it's pretty demotivating to get nothing for it.

Of course thankful to have a job and all that, and thankful nobody is getting laid off, but doesn't change the fact that it's still very disappointing.

Edited to clarify promotions being deferred

Graduated in 2018, need career advice

    Posted: 02 Jul 2020 11:45 PM PDT

I'm in Los Angeles, graduated with acct degree in Dec 2018, without landing position or any internship experience, and have been unemployed since then.

I am seeking to get entry level position in public accounting preferably in tax, but the thing is I have nothing to write on my resume experience and volunteer/club organization section. The only accomplishment so far is having completed 150 units and having completed the CPA exam.

Should I be applying for internships so I can have something to write on the experience, or should I not bother and apply for full time position? Also, any other advice is appreciated. Thanks.

    Training going to be online?

    Posted: 02 Jul 2020 11:33 PM PDT

To all the full-time and interns, do you think there is a big chance that our onboarding will be strictly online? I have a firm feeling that it will be online and we will start our careers working from home. What do y'all think?

Is accounting really the miserable soul-sucking career path everyone makes it out to be?

I need some positivity or something to get me excited and not feeling so negative towards this major of mine.

How are we feeling about the exam? First case was pretty simple, but didn't have time to address all issues for second case. Mixed feelings about it to be honest.
