I probably will get fired soon but it's ok Posted: 01 May 2020 07:57 PM PDT I spoke up today at work in a small team huddle. I asked my boss' boss about something borderline illegal that the company did and lied about. I have known for a while now, others know as well but no one spoke up. FIRE has allowed me to get over the fear of losing my job and spoke up. I feel so much better after speaking up for myself and for those whose livelihoods depend on their jobs. Thank you for sharing your journey and motivated me to do the same. So happy that I can share with someone about this small achievement. Edit: lol it wasn't that climatic. I simply asked "can we address x" and the response was meh. I was just really really happy I could speak up for once and wanted to share. not whistleblower worthy and I would rather spend my time finding another job at a more honourable company. Considering the rental property business. Yes or no with my financial income situation? Posted: 02 May 2020 05:32 PM PDT I have a few friends in the rental property business, and it seems like it's going well. I don't really know much about it, but I've just been hearing about it for a while and it's finally peaked my interest. I honestly know nothing about anything so I would need to learn from the ground up. I have no knowledge or experience in any handy work or construction, no formal education on real estate or business/ marketing. So yeah basically I'm useless now, but willing to learn if it seems worth it to me? I'm in my mid 20's right now. I have a hatred for the typical 9-5, but I have a good work ethic - it's just the fact that I'm against working for a corporate company like an ant - blah blah you all know the spiel. So if I have 0 knowledge, 0 experience, 0 anything no / few connections.. what am I doing considering rental properties besides having a few friends who are already established in the field? Well... honestly I don't know but it seems like something I could consider? The thing is, I make a lot of money in cash for my age. I want to utilize that Cash into other forms of income so when I'm older I'll still have income, cause I can't work this job forever. Which is why I considered rental properties cause it seems like I'll still get good return in the later years which is when it matters most. I'm fortunate enough to have a job where I'm able to save at least 15k in hard cash after a few months of working after my daily spending habits and bills. So here's the other thing, I also have a boyfriend who has a lot of money flow - like way way way more than me. If we decide to share the costs on rental properties and everything that could mean I/ We could reach our goals faster as he is also interested in the same thing. Ofc we would need to settle legally in case we break up and shit hits fan... So... essentially my points are:
