Posted: 04 Mar 2020 11:50 PM PST Hi redditors, I'd like to make software project standups more efficient and trackable. I came up with a SaaS idea to solve this problem, where you write off what you plan to do and what you accomplished, and also what (and maybe who) blocked you. I think it would be a great motivational / team collaborational tool, and I also would like to expand it to resource management (at the start, I'm thinking about time logging). I've looked around the market and found some tools that do similar. I've gone through major review aggregtor sites, read a lot of reviews and organised them. I have a good understanding of what the current users love about such products and what additional features they are looking for. Also, a common complaint was the tool being too expensive, and I think I could operate it ~20% cheaper. I've estimated operational costs multiple times in the past, it's a field I have professional experience in, so it's not just a number I came up with when seeing the competitors' pricing. My question is: can reading competitors' reviews be considered an idea validation? Or is this just a starting point? If so, could you please provide resources of idea validation that worked for you? What mistakes did you make early on in your start up that made things harder than they had to be? Posted: 04 Mar 2020 06:54 PM PST In hindsight, after pushing through the commonly extreme stress of having a startup, what are some things you think you could have done differently to reduce your stress levels? Most people have heard that having a startup is extremely difficult and that it is not something that everyone can do. But for those who are still willing to try, despite this reality, is there any specific insights from your experience that you could share that might be helpful? Are there any mistakes that you made early on, or even at all, that could have been avoided if someone would have just given you some information in a post on reddit? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Mar 2020 02:29 PM PST Hi all, Just writing in from one startup to another. What are the best practices that everyone is doing to maximize efficiency, and still work remotely? Can the community share some tips etc. - My company is now segmenting employees based on different locations and packs - It diversifies risk but I still don't think it's the best idea as everyone commutes from all around etc but it still poses risk. Thanks and would appreciate how some startups are doing this so we can get an idea too! [link] [comments] |
How do I find entrepreneurs to be on the founding team of my venture? Posted: 04 Mar 2020 10:46 AM PST I launched a venture in the real estate space and I'm doing everything from sourcing from both sides of the platform (renters and property owners) to talking to investors and building all the tech. I'm looking for passionate founders who want to build the next big thing in real estate. Where should I post for this other than AngelList? [link] [comments] |
Startup Business Bank account that requires 2 out of 3 members to authenticate for withdrawal? Posted: 04 Mar 2020 08:42 PM PST Starting a company with a few friends spread out over the country, we are looking for a bank account that requires 2 out of the 3 cofounders to authorize a withdrawal/transaction for it to be completed. I haven't had any luck as all the keywords tend to lead to "2 factor authentication" results instead of the intended answers. Any help or pointers to a specific bank or type of account is very welcome! [link] [comments] |
Any block-chain based tech startup founders here? Posted: 04 Mar 2020 06:53 PM PST Is there any block-chain based tech startup founders here? If so I have couple of questions Which block-chain platform (ex: etheruem) do you use and why? Which tools and services do you use to make development easy? How do you keep user data (personal information) private?
How to do you keep scale up things up on demand? Do you use any decentralized databases to store data? ex: bigchaindb
How do you do authentication with better UX (without using MetaMask)? What is your business model?
Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |
Pitching to potential cofounders Posted: 04 Mar 2020 11:51 AM PST So I've recognized some talented individuals who might want to take part in my business venture... How do I pitch it to them? Do I go all out with PowerPoint slides marker data and our validation?(essentially treating them as an investor) Should I invite them to coffee? And ask them what they think and if they'd like to be on board... Their being multiple people should I "interview" then in a way and find out more about them? Before I offer anything? ( I don't want it to seem like they're applying for a job) What do y'all think? We don't know each other super well but these few people have the technical skill I need to move this forward significantly. (I can build the mvp without them) [link] [comments] |
Why's bodybuilding.com successful? Posted: 05 Mar 2020 01:46 AM PST What's their business model even? I'm interested in reading their case study, if any exists. And in your opinion can such a website/business model be replicated with different cultures? For example, someone starting it somewhere with good enough population (like india, china or middle east) and with little to no competitors, would it even work? I hope this is the right place to post such things, if not then point me in the right direction. [link] [comments] |
What is the must-have for every startup success? Posted: 05 Mar 2020 01:37 AM PST Hello r/startups community, I have over five years of experience in the mobile game development industry and for that time I was a junior game developer, team lead, and project leader. We published over 40 games, had over 30m of downloads, and over 500k daily active users (DAU). The one and I can be free to say, the only thing that you need to succeed is a DREAM TEAM! A few days ago I found one amazing blog post about how to create your own DREAM TEAM. Disclaimer: I didn't take part in creating this post! I am just so happy to have found it out and happy to share it with you because I firmly believe that the dream team is a must-have. What do you think is the must-have for startup success? Posted: 04 Mar 2020 09:14 PM PST How did y'all do it to find the name for your project. I have literally been pondering on a name for weeks and haven't even remotely gotten close to a name. I don't know if it should be like a single word or should it be a phrase. Should it be obvious or should it have nothing to do with what I'm doing? Should I mesh up words and make up a word? What is process to incorporate a startup in UK (through VISA programs)? Posted: 04 Mar 2020 11:36 PM PST Hi, Arguably, UK is one of the most vibrant places to start a business. I checked online, and there is a process for startup-ers to start a business in UK. Did anyone of you know stories of people who successfully went through one of these incubators to move/immigrate to UK?. We are seriously considering it right now, but could not find any statistics online. I would like to hear from people who went through the same process. Could you please chime in and share your experiences, it would be highly appreciated? [link] [comments] |
Questions to ask of experienced Startups? Posted: 04 Mar 2020 06:16 PM PST My business partner and I have a meeting face to face with a successful startup entrepreneur to get some personal insight to startups. We are new to all this and I found this opportunity to have a sit down with someone that is fairly experienced. My question to this community, what questions should I be asking? I have lots of questions already, and looking forward to the immediacy of a face to face, but what are some questions I might forget to ask? What are the questions you wish you had asked? I realize this sub is a great resource to ask questions, but there is just something about an in person meeting that gets the vigor flowing. So I want to make the most of it. Thanks! Out of work freelancer, How can i join a start up team as a member. Posted: 04 Mar 2020 03:41 AM PST So, I was an internet marketer for 10 years and i used to offer SEO services on forums, develop and flip blogs, offer photoshop services and customer support things. Im not very technical (like i cant code). In 2017, internet marketing was getting very saturated and i am not great at sales so i quit my clients, to trade crypto full time until it crashed badly in 2018. No regret as i made great profits off it. Fast forward to today, i don't have much work as i quit my previous clients to trade crypro. But i do have a lot of time. So how do i get around to joining a startup (Remotely) as a team member. Like work for equity and not for money. Any tips? [link] [comments] |
Splitting equity in a new venture/startup Posted: 04 Mar 2020 07:35 AM PST It's been awhile since I looked into frameworks for splitting equity at conception. I have a situation for a new saas (not sure if it's a micro-saas or venture-able saas at this point, for simplicity let's assume it's your average startup with venture potential). We have 4 people who could offer varying amounts of cash/equity/labor. A CTO (building the app and managing it/new features). I'm guessing over the next year, may require a quarter of their time (more time up front during the build, then ongoing iterations one at a time). A CEO (managing/strategic/marketing and putting in cash). I'm guessing over the next year, may require a quarter of their time. two lesser roles... maybe you could say director of marketing and director of community engagement (support, etc) I've seen this done a number of ways...
If you'd like more details, just ask and I'll update my OP. I know this is pretty vague/high level atm. Note: this isn't so much about should we vest (we would) but the actual percentages split up. [link] [comments] |
Someone with Technical Knowledge might be able to HELP me! (gaming related startup) Posted: 04 Mar 2020 09:59 AM PST I do not have any development experience. I am at this point where I am trying to develop a MVP for my platform. I sent emails to 10+ different development companies (that I found on clutch - all have good reviews and good profiles) and explained what I am trying to develop for the MVP. The responses I got were all different: they recommended all kids of different frameworks for developing this web app, some quoted me 400 hours of work time, some 500, 800 hours, 1500 hours and 2400 hours to develop this MVP. I got a quote for price $4,000, $5000, $12,000, $22,000, $45,000 and $56,000. All of these companies are outside the US. How can I even make a decision here when I get so many random offers and solutions. [link] [comments] |
