Posted: 26 Feb 2020 03:22 AM PST Often, this space is saturated with discussions about super-successful ventures that generate (supposedly) a huge amount of money. While that is great, I'd love to hear about ventures that are either just starting up or those side gigs/passive enterprises that generate small amounts at any given period. The very idea of being able to generate that one extra buck per day using something you made/know/figured out is still fascinating to me. What are your side gigs, what are they making presently and where do you see them going further? Also, do you have any plans for new ones? [link] [comments] |
Made 6K during the first 5 months of my business. Looking to take it to the next level Posted: 26 Feb 2020 06:33 AM PST I recently launched a career services/resume writing business called UWork that has generated approx. 6K in revenue over the past 5 months. I'm not sure if this is something I should be proud of or not but I'm extremely happy with what I've been able to accomplish helping people out of unemployment spells and placing them in jobs they actually deserve instead of ones they just settle for. My next hurdle is taking it to the next level. I want to partner with a social media marketing agency and take it to the next level but I know picking the right one is critical. I'm a solopreneur and any suggestions/ideas/resources you guys may have for me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! [link] [comments] |

Finding a manufacturer (clothing) outside of China? Posted: 26 Feb 2020 08:16 AM PST Hi, As the title says, I am looking to find clothing manufacturers outside of China. I currently use Alibaba to source goods and as I grow I'd like to begin to look elsewhere. I would really like to look in Bangladesh. My company specializes in hats and every time I notice a hat of high quality that I like, it always reads "Made in Bangladesh" on the tag. I've looked online and am really struggling to find contact information for this sort of production. I don't mind traveling to meet my manufacturer in person if that is what it takes. Best all-in-one software for managing a small business Posted: 26 Feb 2020 01:15 PM PST I'm looking for the best all-in-one software to use to manage my entire business as I'm currently using excel and it is inefficient. I need to be able to manage inventory (and keep log of what I owe various vendors for inventory purchased), log sales transactions, log employee pay/commissions, log payments from customers and be able to customer balances and generate invoices automatically . I also would like analytical reports [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Feb 2020 11:24 AM PST I'm thinking about writing for fun and profit a blog about the silliness of modern finance and American corporations. Hopefully it entertaining, and it will definitely be heavily based in economics as that is what my degree is in. Does anyone have a "pet blog" that is still profitable in this day and age? How do you source and collect your revenues? What's your take-home? [link] [comments] |
Got my first customer! Now I realise I have no idea what to do next. Posted: 26 Feb 2020 10:23 AM PST Im in a bit of a rush right now but wanted to get this posted. I got my first customer, I put up fliers for pressure washing and a business owner wants me to do his tin barn. Im meeting him Sunday to go over it and realised I have no idea what to do when I meet him. Should I come up with a sort of work order for him to sign? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Feb 2020 01:35 PM PST Hey guys, This is a bit of a strange request but I really need some help. I started an instagram page last week that's dedicated to sharing good deeds and random acts of kindness that people have experienced or witnessed. The idea is that people send them to me and I create a nice post with a cute illustration to accompany the story. I also post positive news stories via the account as well. It's actually part of a much bigger project and this is just a cheap/low-fi way of validating the idea and starting to build the brand (and some traction) whilst I focus on the rest of the project. I'm trying to get it off the ground at the moment but I need a lot of content to create posts until it catches on a bit more and then becomes self sustaining. I've asked my friends and family to share any good deeds that they've seen or that have happened to them - but I'm just wondering if anyone here can share some that they would be happy for me to post? It'd be super, super appreciated! Thanks in advance! Ross P.S. If anyone is interested just search for "@beacon.deeds" on Insta [link] [comments] |
Quest to get on front page of Google results for T-shirts and/or vinyl decals Posted: 26 Feb 2020 01:27 PM PST Hi all, Have been slowly and steadily building up a T-shirt POD and decal business with my artwork. Sales vary from day to day depending on how much effort I put into social media for the day, but I probably average around $10-$15 or so a day of profit (not counting custom artwork commissions, which count for another $150 or so worth of profit monthly). I know this isn't a lot, but it is a nice little side hustle that has helped make paying for rent a bit easier. I'm on a mission to level up, as the niche I am in has a very active, passionate, and growing base. Objectively, my artwork is definitely unique (think illustrations; not as clip-arty as most of what's out there). I know that if I wanted to push my social media harder, and perhaps invest in advertising, I could probably increase my sales, but I'm more interested in learning how I can make this a bit more passive. My goal is to get my products on the front page of google for "my niche+t-shirt" and "my niche+decals". Does anyone have any suggestions regarding how to rank in organic google search results? Is there a specific strategy with alt tags I should be using? Looking to get people to link to my products? Any advice is much appreciated. =) [link] [comments] |
Do you have a brand and a story to tell? Posted: 26 Feb 2020 01:12 PM PST I am creating a podcast/brand dedicated to the entrepreneurial journey during its growing stages. Need Advice with Middle Man-ing an international Business deal Posted: 26 Feb 2020 09:18 AM PST So a friend of mine works for an international supply company and whoever is in charge of purchasing there is LAZY. Not only are they lazy but the company is fat on cash and just spending it on the first product that fits their need without doing research on ways to save costs or cheaper supply. Through talking with my friend I know of a product the company is immediately looking for that I have connections to and I can assist with supplying. Now I know that this international company is willing to pay 4x more than the cost the supplier is willing to charge me, So I have the basic formula for setting up a business. My question is how can I set this up to make profit for myself? The complication is that I am located in America while the supply company and my supplier are both located in different countries in South East Asia. So I would be purchasing Shipping containers of product and shipping it to its end destination but will not be on hand to do either side of shipping or receiving. So while I can imagine what problems may lie ahead I would like to hear it from you guys as well Can anybody help me here or suggest places for me to start? I understand I may have been a little vague but if you require any further info please ask! [link] [comments] |
How would you go about finding an online business coach & strategist? Posted: 26 Feb 2020 12:59 PM PST TL; DR: How would you conduct a search and hiring of an online business coach? How do you find those key people for critical junctures in your business? My wife is a singer with a decent following and a very strong niche. We co-produce the music together and I act as the operations guy. Things have been ok with publishing agreements, shows, and ongoing music sales, but we are ready to scale and monetize her following in a bigger way. We also have several placements on high profile television shows coming up in the next year and want to be ready to capitalize on those eyeballs. We are looking to hire someone to help us with strategy, especially around how to develop offerings which are high integrity and leverage the existing potential we have. We need someone who is not only fun to work with, but who is highly experienced in developing online businesses. Hopefully as well, this person will be "conscious" or has experience working with spiritual, environmental, creative or other similar niches. We need a creative but extremely knowledgeable person who can take an inventory of our position and recommend very tangible next steps for an 18-36 month window - product development, marketing, branding, etc. I have no idea on where to begin finding this person. Google and linkedin searches return a morass of consultants that I don't know how to vet. I'd like this sub's opinion on how to find critical people at these critical junctures. What would you look for? How do you conduct searches? How do you know you're hiring someone who will actually help you? Thanks in advance, all replies appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Feb 2020 12:58 PM PST Could someone please explain to me the difference between these two and whether or not you can integrate a sales funnel into a website or if they are totally separate things? If it depends on the business, when would you generally use a sales funnel vs a website? Thanks so much everyone, please ask questions if you need clarification because I may not have worded this perfectly. [link] [comments] |

Anyone have experience running a virtual mailing address business? Posted: 26 Feb 2020 11:34 AM PST Recently across one of these businesses in a small coastal town. I've actually used one of these in NYC before (gave our remote company an address so we could register for things that required a mailing address) but now I'm interested in how owners determine if there's a market for it outside of major cities, as well as how they're run. Anyone here know anything about them or possibly own one? Thanks! [link] [comments] |

Dealing with Large Purchase from the US Posted: 26 Feb 2020 10:51 AM PST My company buys and resells electronic components from Europe and has been steadily growing for the last few years. We recently have been able to get into the US market(based in Canada) and with that have started to received larger orders. One company in particular has sent us a purchase order for over $250k USD. This is the first order of this size we have received. Our concern is their ability to pay such a large order in full, seeing that we have never dealt with them before. They have provided their banking information, along with 3 trade references. My questions are these: How can we verify their ability to pay? Do we simply call the trade references and ask if they always pay on time? Are company credit checks like Equifax viable? How can we protect the company from a loss? Thanks in advance for any help. Posted: 25 Feb 2020 11:33 PM PST You take the 30000 dollars and you go to school. Once you finish your degree, you have a lot of secular knowledge, some work experience from, say, internships, learnerships, understudies etc and a degree. However, you have no money and taking the average for post graduate salaries source You can go and calculate at say, 45-50 000 a year minus the cost of living and any student loan, how long it will take you to make 30 000 dollars worth of disposable cash at 24, 25 😀 Look at it practically, if possible. If it seems narrow minded it's because the average college student has limited options assuming most don't have an unlimited line of time or income. Remember, you were given 30000 dollars. That's the criteria, based on the average cost of tuition. source Not leaving out creativity, most students won't get a full scholarship (source ), so they will have to support themselves or get support for the cost of living (not including tuition which will be covered by a partial scholarship, full scholarship, bursary, student loan or own capital.) Taking that into account:
Without college, and with the 30 000 dollars, you actually do have an unlimited stream of time. Change my mind. ☕ [link] [comments] |
