Bloomberg article on Reddit's Profane, Greedy Traders

    Posted: 26 Feb 2020 09:01 AM PST

    https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-02-26/reddit-s-profane-greedy-traders-are-shaking-up-the-stock-market

Bloomberg made a quick article titled, "Reddit's Profane, Greedy traders are shaking up the stock market." Really entertaining the way they describe reddit as a "Dingy Corner of the Internet" and that it's "soaked in profanity and bro-speak". They also claim the chatter raises prices on some stocks. A pretty funny read

Does anyone have some good educational tutorials on options trading?

    Posted: 26 Feb 2020 05:32 AM PST

So I understand how profits are made on options, and I understand the difference between a ccall and a put and when you would do which. What I don't understand is terms like "in the money" or "expiration dates". Would I have to sell/buy my options on the expiration date? Or could i takke my money beforehand? Say I bought puts for SPCE today for expiration 3/20, but the stock tanks before that date, could I take my profits before then or do I have to wait til expiration date to get my money? Can someone give me an eli5? Plz and thank you!

A bit of advice on current market fear

    Posted: 26 Feb 2020 12:05 PM PST

If you're holding for the long term then all this virus talk is meaningless. This virus (not even really the virus, just fear of it) can hurt companies all it wants. Unless you think this virus will END the company then this virus is COMPLETELY irrelevant. Every single company will recover from this because their business model and customer base is still there.

Coronavirus causes Moody's to slash global vehicle sales forecast for 2020

    Posted: 26 Feb 2020 08:50 AM PST

    https://www.cnbc.com/2020/02/26/coronavirus-causes-moodys-to-slash-global-vehicle-sales-forecast.html

Moody's Investor Service is slashing its global vehicle sales forecast due to the coronavirus outbreak reducing demand and disrupting automotive supply chains.

Its revised forecast includes global auto sales to slump 2.5% in 2020 from 0.9% previously expected.

The new forecast is based on the spread of the coronavirus being contained by the end of the first quarter.

Any Corona-proof stocks you’re looking to buy

    Posted: 26 Feb 2020 12:47 PM PST

Everything down but I'm holding everything (AAPL, AMD, Eth, MST, SQ, Zoom, Nio, Nvidia, TSLA) except SPCE which I finally decided to take the profit and run.

Is there any stocks that that you think will grow despite world events and burgeoning pandemic?

Forecast for today, still Not a buy!

    Posted: 26 Feb 2020 06:10 AM PST

We are in the middle of a very volatile week, filled with a lot of news and worries about a global outbreak from the Coronavirus. Following the two big drops in the US markets, the world markets also had a very rocky trading session. In Asia most indexes were down around 1% with the Shenzhen Composite having a worse day with a decline of -2.7%. European markets started very badly as well with the British FTSE and German DAX going down almost 3% in the first hour of trading. In the later hours of trading they erased their losses and as of 8 45AM ET when we are writing this forecast, the FTSE is down 0.3% and the DAX is down only 0.2%. The US futures almost copied what was happening in Europe as they fell with the European indexes with the Dow futures dropping 400 points to 26700 or 1.5%. The S&P and the Nasdaq also saw a similar drop. As of 8 45AM ET, all the indexes are in the green around 0.2%. The Dow futures are hovering around 27220. These big moves indicate big position changes with investors buying the dip on one side and pessimists selling in worries of a bigger decline.

The ups and downs will continue during the trading period and if you are a day trader there will be a lot of opportunities for quick gains. Take positions with smaller than normal stop losses, do not over extend, take smaller profits as well, and do not stay in open positions for long periods because the market is experiencing massive swings of hundreds of points every hour. As for longer term investing, the market is still not certain of the true economic impact of the virus and it is not recommended to buy right now. Good luck!

Government has 30 million n95 masks, recommended to have 300 million. 3m/Honeywell to get a small bump?

Not that theyre a significant part of either companies business, but if the government is in a rush to add 270 million masks, let alone hospitals/other countries, could these stocks see a noticeable bump?

What's your opinions on investing in Disney Long Term?

    Posted: 26 Feb 2020 09:35 AM PST

Do you think this would be good? They're getting fairly close to their 52 week low. Their 52 week high from this year was about a 30% profit. Disney of course is a powerhouse of a brand. I would imagine once the virus dissipates they will steadily rise up over the next few years.

Any pros or cons worth pointing out? If I buy, would you wait longer or perhaps dollar cost average buying in?

    Thanks in advance!

Buy SBUX now and invest more if it dips into the mid 70s?

    Posted: 26 Feb 2020 08:19 AM PST

I feel like I'm getting it at a discount right now, and if it continues to go down into the mid 70s, I will buy more shares. What do you think of this plan? I've already bought a few shares today and have placed a limit order at $75.

How long would you guys wait before investing again?

    Posted: 26 Feb 2020 01:17 AM PST

Hi I'm relative new to the stock market. Do you think the stock market continues to fall the next weeks and investing now is a bad idea, or do you think I should use this opportunity before the market goes up again?

Reasons NOT to exercise an option?

    Posted: 26 Feb 2020 11:41 AM PST

Hi all! I am new to options trading and have been playing around with BBBY. I recently sold a put with an $11 strike price for $0.04/share to expire on 2.28.20. The stock price is now around $10.60 but the option hasn't been exercised. Why would the put seller not exercise?

    Thank you!

Gold no longer a safe haven?

    Posted: 26 Feb 2020 01:48 PM PST

It seems that it is now directly correlated with the market. People are selling their gold during times of uncertainty?

Are people holding on to cash or something? This makes no sense. Lawd help me.

    Discussion about energy stocks

    Posted: 26 Feb 2020 08:48 AM PST

The stock markets are down due to fear over the coronavirus and I think it's safe to say that the energy sector is also struggling. Oil prices are sliding as China is a top importer of crude.

With that being said, I'm curious as to what everyone's outlook is for energy stocks this year. Anyone have a favourite stock with positive outlook for 2020?

Thoughts on this week's SPCE swing? Virus? Speculation? Q4 Earnings? Or D. All of the Above

    Posted: 26 Feb 2020 11:58 AM PST

Interesting week for SPCE. Lots of PR about an auto correction on pricing. But unfortunately comes in the same week of huge impacts from the virus, and a low earnings Q4 call.

Do you guys think it is worth investing in this company currently? I know they're struggling quite a bit right now, but if they ever grow back to even $4 a share, it seems like a steal at $1.50?
