What should I expect to happen? Posted: 04 Jan 2020 07:25 PM PST I am insured with Geico for the record. I let my brother borrow my car to pump up some gas in the car because we were going on a road trip the the next day. He unfortunately got into a minor fender bender with another driver. The driver of the other vehicle lashed out at my little brother and became very hostile torwards him. So my brother locked himself in the car and called me to come to the scene. I went over and settled things down the other driver was being very uncooperative and was saying how it wasn't his fault. The police were called to the scene and the officer cited the other driver a ticket for "Improper passing" I called Geico and told them what happend. They're treating the incident as a not at fault accident. What will happen in terms of coverage since my brothers not on my policy [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 Jan 2020 03:18 AM PST Both myself and the company I work for are Texas-based. I began as a new employee in summer of 2019. I did not make any changes during open enrollment season because I wanted to be re-enrolled in the same plan/coverage for 2020. I didn't even log into the benefits website during enrollment season. I noticed on my first 2020 paystub dental and vision were taken out, but not medical. When I contacted HR, they stated I provided consent to withdraw medical insurance, when I certainly did not. My company has a policy to auto re-enroll if you don't make changes, and as previously stated, I didn't even log into the site during open enrollment so how could I have provided consent? My dental and vision carried over just fine. I wasn't made aware of the withdraw from medical at all until I reviewed my paystub. So my questions are:

Question about PIP vs Medical payments (actual scenario below) Posted: 05 Jan 2020 12:26 AM PST Note: I'm with Geico Now, I just recently (few hours ago) had a bit of an accident. Single car no one with me. Don't wanna dive too far into it. Anyway I'm mostly good but my back is a tad sore. I'm probably gonna get a quick check at urgent care, but my question is this: I have PIP, but not the specific medical payments. I have my own private health insurance.
Note: I'm going to check with Geico and make sure I've met my deductible before I go. Also, if it matters at all, it's a Florida policy. [link] [comments] |
Body repair shop charged Insurance for things they did not fulfill and didn’t properly fix Posted: 04 Jan 2020 05:42 AM PST I recently picked up my vehicle from the body repair shop, and I noticed that the invoice is full of charges for repairs they did not performed. For example, on the invoice it states that they replaced a major body panel (the one that had most damage) with a new one. But upon inspecting it, it's obvious that they reused the old part and didn't properly fix it. The invoice is full of things they so called "replaced" but did not. I brought this up to the repair shop, but unsurprisingly they denied it all. Apart from taking pictures and letting the Insurance know, what are my other options here? I do not trust this shop to take my vehicle back to them. I must add, the other drivers insurance who was found at fault is the one paying for this, and unfortunately it is not a body repair shop that the insurance is in contract with, since I picked this local shop. Located in Texas. Edit: repair shop called me and told me to bring it back so they can adjust the misaligned panel. I suspect they might try to hide evidence of work they did not perform, since the misaligned panel is only one of the numerous issues with the work. Edit: Due to some people stating that the part could be used, it should not be because the invoice states "new" and also the original collision damage is still on the inside of the panel. https://imgur.com/a/ZzX8FSY [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Jan 2020 09:49 PM PST I just wanted to know if i change my cars headlights to LEDs and I happen to get into an accident with another party at night. Is it possible for my insurance to say I was at fault for having changed them in the first place? I am still paying the car off if that info is needed and live in california [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Jan 2020 08:21 PM PST I desperately need to get in touch with my AAA insurance provider but it's Sunday. Anyone know any tricks or tips to make this happen? Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |
Exclusion Explanation (State Farm) Posted: 04 Jan 2020 07:54 PM PST Can anyone clarify what exactly this means? "While maitaining or using a vehicle in connection with that insured's employment in or engagement of any kind in a car bussiness..." [link] [comments] |
Mom has brain tumor, no insurance. Posted: 04 Jan 2020 09:36 AM PST Im not sure if this is the right sub for a question like this, please direct me to the correct sub that would fit a question like this if this isn't the correct sub. Thanks (We live in the USA, Houston Texas) My friends mom (shes in her 30's) has a brain tumor that they are afraid may be in the process of becoming malignant. Her headaches are worse then they have ever been, and she can barely drive due to the lights from the cars making her head throb too much. They don't have alot of money and they have no insurance, therefore not planning on taking her to the doctor due to how much it would probably be. Is there any way they can go about this? Is there any other option for them? How can they help her? where could they take her? Any advice is very appreciated. I really don't want them to have to just let nature take its course without being able to do anything. [link] [comments] |
Will I have to pay for lab testing that began when I had insurance but finished without it? Posted: 04 Jan 2020 01:10 PM PST Im currently on medi-cal and my doctors just ordered a bunch of tests to conclusively determine whether I have Cushings disease or not. I lose my medi-cal at the end of the month, so my results may still be being analyzed during the crossover period from medi-cal to a different insurance. Will medi-cal retroactively cover the cost of the results if we began testing when I had insurance? Will those results suddenly be out of reach without my insurance? Thank you! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Jan 2020 02:50 PM PST Last night the roads were bad and I drove my mothers 2016 Jeep renegade into a curb because of the fresh snow. The car was driving completely normal and I assumed the Jeep could take rough terrain since it's a fairly new car with big tires. The tire didn't even have any damage to it nor was there any scratches to the rim. But when I woke up my dad informed me the car had to be towed after they tried to drive it in the morning, and it is going to cost $3000 to fix it. I believe it just have been a damaged axle and they are probably charging us to replace it as well as the tire and the rims which makes sense. I am a college student and only have $9000. I have this following spring semester payed for and I live at home but I am moving out to a different city in the summer because I will be going to a four year school. I've been saving money for so long to afford the school and now I feel like I'm being held back. I feel like it's my responsibility to pay for the whole $3000 bill but I just don't know what else to do now. I have a job but I just don't know what to do. [link] [comments] |
Hit and Run Driver Hit My Parked Car. Comprehensive or Collision? Posted: 04 Jan 2020 02:33 PM PST Hit and run driver his my parked car while I was eating dinner at a restaurant last night. I did not notice the damage to my back bumper until the next morning (car was parked in protected driveway over night). Body shop is quoting 2k to replace back bumper and fix underlying damage. I have Geico collision and comprehensive coverage. It would be better for me (lower deductible and less chance of raising premium) for it to be claimed under comprehensive, which I believe is valid because I was not in the vehicle at the time of collision. I also have uninsured motorist coverage if that applies. Geico is insisting this falls under collision. Do I have a leg to stand on here? [link] [comments] |
Individual disability insurance claim difficulty Posted: 04 Jan 2020 01:06 PM PST I'm researching individual disability insurance as my employer does not offer it. I Live in California and the state disability insurance won't cover me financially, the policy I was looking at would pay $9k/month until age 65 (I'm mid 30's right now). I was mainly wondering what experiences people have with any of the major insurers should I need to file a claim down the road. I worry that they will resist heavily if a claim occurs and obviously I would be in the financially vulnerable position to where I might be pressured to take 'whatever they offer' rather than a full claim amount. I am going to do own-occupation as I work in a very specialized healthcare field. Small company so there is no "light duty" if I were to lose any of my faculties and salary so there really isn't much in the way of part-time either. How would insurance companies approach this on the claims side? Any other suggested coverage I should ask for? anything exclusions to specifically ask about? The agents I've talked to always talk about how easy the claims process is but I'm skeptical of them as they are selling me insurance so of course it's in their interest to make it seem more attractive. Cheers! [link] [comments] |
Witness to small accident, could I be blamed as retaliation? Posted: 04 Jan 2020 04:59 AM PST I witnessed a small auto accident (UK). I was driving my car behind a car that lost control for no obvious reason and he hit an unoccupied parked car. We were both going less than 20mph and nobody was physically hurt. I was far back from him so could stop with ample space (eg 1 car length), so no damage to my car. The insurer of the parked car has asked me for a witness statement but it's started to worry me, could the driver at fault start lying (or looking for an excuse) and somehow blame me for distracting him and causing him to crash? (or some other reason I haven't thought of that implicates me) I'm all for helping by giving a witness statement, but equally don't want to set myself up or be made a scapegoat. Or am I being paranoid?! [link] [comments] |

Federal Employee health benefits, am I enrolled or not? Posted: 04 Jan 2020 11:26 AM PST I just went to DFAS to see if I could get in contact with someone about my missing health insurance card for 2020.
