Posted: 01 Jan 2020 07:32 AM PST Hello everyone. Happy new years. My first full year in business I grossed 53k, netted 35k cleaning windows and pressure washing homes, driveways, pool decks, decks, etc. I am very happy about these numbers because to be honest I didn't have any real business plan in place nor do I have any kind of business background. I just make sure to do the best job I can possibly do and treat my customers right. Coming from $12/hr this is great. I am 24 years old in the US. Minimum wage in my state is $8.50 an hr. I live with my father. A couple other milestones was... I got almost 75 five star google reviews (#1 rated in my county but not ranking #1 on google search. Need better SEO), 300+ likes on my facebook business page, and 50 recommendations on my fb business page. This year I want to try to focus on ways I can get more repeat customers, more commercial customers (99% of my work is residential), and create a more interactive and personal experience for potential customers and people that follow or visit my social media pages.
Rock on everyone. Happy 2020. https://imgur.com/a/hE34fAG i dont know why its saying the photo is 18+. [link] [comments] |
Suggested CRM for small software business? Posted: 02 Jan 2020 12:22 AM PST I have a side project which is slowly turning into a business and I'd like to have a central place for tracking leads and reminding me when things get stale. This would be used by just myself and another sales person to start. I don't really need any integrations or fancy features. Right now we probably have 100 unqualified leads, 20 stale leads, and 2-3 active leads. The sales cycle is turning out to be high-touch so I want something where I can capture all the variety of different client situations. Price is somewhat important for me right now. Any suggestions? I'm seeing Hubspot and Zoho when others asked the same question. Is the answer still the same for my situation? [link] [comments] |
What is the big deal with a registered agent Posted: 02 Jan 2020 03:46 AM PST Hey Guys, I wonder what exactly is the benefit of having a registered agent? My current registered agent does not even bother notifying me about the upcoming deadlines. If all they do is to scan the letters then why not I open receive and read the letters myself? Want a *free* custom spreadsheet built for your online course / coaching business? Posted: 02 Jan 2020 03:39 AM PST Hi Everyone. I've got a business where I build spreadsheets for online entrepreneurs. I'm looking to be more specific with my target market, so I'm aiming to move from "online entrepreneurs" to "online coaches and course creators". It's one of my goals for this year! To help with this, I thought it would be a good idea to build up a couple of case studies / testimonials on my website. So I'm wondering if anyone in this group has a spreadsheet for their online course / coaching business they would like building (for free)? The spreadsheets I like to create are normally in the $200-$600 range - depending on the complexity. If you're interested, please comment / send me a message with a brief description of the purpose of the spreadsheet and a link to your website. It would involve jumping on a call with me, so I can hear more about it and decide on the features to be built in. Then a few back and forth emails whilst I am building the spreadsheet (to get it just right for you). I'm planning on creating a few free spreadsheets throughout the year, so if I like your idea but can't create it for you right away - I'll add you to a list and reach out when I'm ready to build it. Why would you want a custom spreadsheet? For Online Coaching Business

Here's a link to a case study involving a spreadsheet I created for an entrepreneur for his writing course. It helped his students keep track of their writing data, and has summaries, graphs and other useful data points: [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Jan 2020 10:18 PM PST I have been thinking a lot lately about trying to start a math tutoring business for high school students, especially those studying their HSC in Advanced and Extension Math. Background:
A short walk from my apartment is a public library that I have thought would be a good location to start tutoring in evenings and on weekends. I think it would be easy enough for students to meet me there for tutoring. My main questions are:
I am keen to start, but I'm just unsure of how to start and get visibility and students. I'd be really grateful for any advice, or to hear from others who have done tutoring services in the past, so I can build a solid plan to get it started and find my first students. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Jan 2020 01:44 AM PST Hello Guys, I've been thinking about open my own business for some time already. The idea of having my own thing thrills me instead of working for someone else and he keep the large share of the pie. For some time I was looking what my company could provide, until I discovered that there is a store chain (Clothes related) that still has a VERY PRIMITIVE 'system' to make the weekly schedule for their employees. I spoke with some employees and it seems that due to the current system is so bad a lot of misunderstandings are generated, resulting (frequently) in some people don't show up at work or the opposite, too much people show up in certain shifts. My idea, was open a company, selling yearly subscription to a web portal, accessible to all employees, allowing the admin to create the schedule and the employees to see them. The yearly subscription would also offer support and implementation of new features according to clients feedback. Besides this, my company would also offer consultancy services related to IT, I have a contact in a country that could develop what needs to be developed by a fourth of the local market. My main concerns are: - The idea of making an online scheduler is not new... There is competition already... My only advantages are price and a contact, I kind of can pull some string to speak the responsible of the store - Consultancy services, my advantage is price So guys, Should I move into this? Should I make some research first/Learn some concepts? Should I make an arrangement with my current employer to work half month, and spend the other half in this project? Best regards, [link] [comments] |
Should I use virtual office address? Posted: 01 Jan 2020 11:20 PM PST I have a PO box for my office address. However we are soon making pet products that require us to put an address in the label. I might not be allowed to use a PO box. Even if I am allowed PO box address it might be off putting to customers - they might not trust our product? I could also use my home address. What are the risks in terms of liability in using home address? Veteran business owners of the forum, please suggest what I should do? [link] [comments] |
Setting Up Multiple Business Emails Posted: 01 Jan 2020 11:18 PM PST I am in the process of starting up a small photography company with a good friend of mine. I am currently working on setting up a business email just to look a bit more professional. I am currently using gmail but I plan on having an email through our website when we launch. Heres the problem I'm having and I'm not even sure its possible but that's why I'm here. I want a client to send us an email off of our website. Their message would be sent to our main email (ex. [support@business.com](mailto:support@business.com)). I then want to know is there a way that rather than replying from that main email, can we reply from our personal email? (ex. [employee1@business.com](mailto:employee1@business.com)). This isn't explained the greatest but I hope someone understands what I'm trying to say. Client sends email to [support@business.com](mailto:support@business.com), they receive a reply from a different email (my partner or I depending on who sees the message) being [employee1@business.com](mailto:employee1@business.com) or [employee2@business.com](mailto:employee1@business.com). Please let me know if this is possible or if this just isn't at all how it works. Thank you! [link] [comments] |
Customer pet injured in our store Posted: 01 Jan 2020 03:53 PM PST Hello, Store is a unit in a mall that does not allow pets, although we do see pets from time to time. A few days ago customer came in with pet. Pet got off leash, got tangled in our display. Today, customer comes back saying the pet was injured and if we hold any insurance that can pay for damages. Questions:
Of course the biggest headache here is not even about the dog, but if customer goes on a negative review spam across the web, lol. Oh the joys of being a business owner. [link] [comments] |
Merchandising for stage persona: tips for starting Posted: 01 Jan 2020 09:49 PM PST I have an unusual business plan and need advice for where to start. I'm an aggressive skater, and when I go to competitions and events I enter the character (or "stage persona", ie Sasha fierce, Ziggy starbright, marshmello, or just about any professional wrestler imaginable) of Dartanyan Jonathan Krash, or D. J. Krash for short (think steampunk test pilot). So far the character has been well received, and I'm looking at going into merchandising, selling mugs, tshirts and perhaps even action figures/toys. So my question is, with a small fan base of maybe 100 people, and no marketing experience, what's the best way to get started? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Jan 2020 08:27 PM PST I currently own and run a franchise social sports business. I've talked to the franchisee about my willingness to sell and he is ok with it. I have grown the business 250% in the space of two years. Bought it for $30k with expected EBITDA of $20k/yr with 2 venues. it is now currently projected to gross $50k EBITDA with 4 venues. (at current levels) and could get up to $60k Growth in terms of customer is 50 teams per year to 200. We currently live in Melbourne Vic and my partner and I run it as a side business. Hoping to sell to pay for a deposit for a house ( and also move cities to northern NSW) so can't run it ongoing. Does anyone have any advice in terms of -sale value - prospectus for potential customers(and templates) - business sale negotiation - if I should use a company to help me sell (if so how they work) - any other help appreciated! Posted: 01 Jan 2020 03:42 PM PST The investments are targeting early-stage small businesses with 6-24 months of revenue. It's a hybrid of debt financing with a "demand dividend" repayment model. Debt is 75% collateralized with business assets purchased with the capital injection.
Let me know what you think -- either from the perspective of a business owner, or an investor. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
I'm horrible at accounting and need to get better. Posted: 01 Jan 2020 03:28 PM PST This was my first full year in business. I grossed something like 80k working for myself. I say "something like" because my accounting is a nightmare and it's something I HAVE TO get better at this year. I use Wave for accounting and to do invoices. It says I made something like twice the amount of money I actually made. I don't understand it. Every time I mark an invoice as paid it adds that amount of money to an account. Then I deposit the check, and since my bank account is linked, it shows I got paid twice? Something like that. I looked into switching to Quickbooks and realized I didn't even understand the terms used in articles comparing the two services. I track my income daily by writing down how much money I made on a calendar every night, and that's basically how I know how much I made. The only way I can get that information from Wave is to add up the totals of all of the invoices I wrote this year. The numbers in there are jacked up beyond all recognition. I'll get a bunch of 1099s for taxes, so that is straightfoward enough. My expenses are low, I don't have inventory, this is not a complicated enterprise, but my books are completely out of whack. Can someone suggest a Youtube channel or something I could check out to get better at this stuff? Would it be worthwhile for me to consider taking a class at a community college? [link] [comments] |
I don't know how I should help my mom's massage business? Posted: 01 Jan 2020 03:00 PM PST I am currently a college student being funded by my mother. She owns a small massage business. Currently, she has enough clients to have 2 massage therapists, herself and one other employee. But there are days where she gets too many customers and she is working non-stop the entire day! She is in her 50's and this sometimes causes pains and aches in her body. But she can't really just say 'no' to customers :/ She doesn't have enough clients for 2 employees AND enough leftover clients for her to massage. She would also need to massage a good amount or else she won't be able to bring in enough money for me and her. I don't know what I should do to help her? Should I try to dedicate time to help grow her business? I am going to school out of state as well. So far, I've been dedicating all my time to my education. My hope is that once I get out of school, I'll have a job good enough to support both of us so she can stop working. Sorry if this post was confusing [link] [comments] |

Posted: 01 Jan 2020 05:30 PM PST How do you recommend finding a location to set up shop? I am looking for warehouse properties and am flexible on a location. I search on Showcase.com and loopnet.com but it seems new properties aren't added often and I routinely see properties listed that when I visit in real life are obviously not available. Is there any way to search for active properties without having to drive around looking for rental signs? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Jan 2020 05:03 PM PST Hi guys, I was looking at the process of registering a LLP in BC. Do I need an existing Partnership to register a LLP or I can directly apply for a new LLP? Goals and Bonuses: how to set them up? Posted: 01 Jan 2020 12:00 PM PST Should I give the bonus to the employees only if every goal was reached, or should I award a bonus per category even if not all goals were met? Im afraid employees would try to focus on the easiest goals, even if there is less money, and will not care about the more important and better rewarded targets. My company asked me to design an Employe Bonus Plan as a tool to motivate our employees towards improving our customer experience, increase the efficiency and profit of the company. We sell a huge number of items (around 1000), and each item's price ranges from $50 all the way to $8,000. The average ticket price is $600. We will divide the goals in 3 main categories, Customer Experience, Sales (number of customers and amount of sales) and Efficiency (are employees performing the store's duties like billing, quality control, inventory management, etc in time?). An example of a KPI is the number of customers that are served in a weekly basis, it was calculated by using last years data, calculating an average and increasing the number by 5.5%. 5.0% being a the average increase of customers between 2016 until 2020 for all stores and an extra 0.5% to go beyond the normal growth. So 2020 goal is = AVG of customers per week in 2019 * 1.055 . When this KPI is applied to last years data (avg * 1.05), Ive found that the store reached the goal 68% of the time. However, another KPI related to sales (total weekly sales $) showed that the same store only reached the goal 35% of the time (I used the same formula AVG of sales per week in 2018 * 1.05). My initial idea was to award the bonus only if all goals were reached, however I've found that the number of weeks were all goals are reached is very low. Id like to thank any input or comments you have and I would like to apologize for my grammar as English is not my native language. [link] [comments] |
